Ok so the note is quite big when you hold it to your ear but you have to remember, or i did anyway I was used to a smaller device. So the trade off for this for a short time before it feels like the norm...better web browsing, great battery life and the ease of being able to snapshot anything write directly to the screen and get any info I have about any given subject out there so much easier. Il take the trade off any day
Those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.

Its no problem at all to hold it to your ear. It does require two hands to use it (maybe I can learn to use it with one hand after I've had it for more than a day.)

Now that I have sold my Nexus One. i was very sad immediantly just because the phone was sexy as hell and amazing speed. The college i got accepted to sends all incoming freshmen a iphone 3gs and are required to use it to keep in contact with professors.
Now that thats said i want to continue with whats the truth about the nexus.
1) i had a problem with the headphones along with alot of other people when listening to music threw your headphones that came with the nexus you would get a shock... for me it mostly happend when i was plugged into a computer
2) DUST...omg the dust i got under the corner of the screen was annoying the crap out of me. i couldnt get it sent back because i wanted to keep the engraving on the phone. and i didnt want to wait 2 weeks for them to send me my phone back.
3) the phones speed is AMAZING but i feel as if google hasnt completly utilized the speed and GPU yet. *if they can pull this off, things would be so much better than the iphone*
want to add other things about this phone *without being biased* ? go ahead lets see if we can get some good information in here for new android users
Yeah...
Non-biased my ass. The only thing the iPhone does better than the N1 is the app store. To say they need to work on their GPU is just a pathetic representation of a review...
I'm not even going to try wasting my time to make this a worthwhile thread. OP, you're just... Ugh..
Too LAZY to send it back and wait a couple weeks for a problem... That's YOUR fault. There's policies in place to remedy issues... *****ing isn't the appropriate remedy.
P.S. Shocking from earbuds happens with more than just the stock headphones. Go google it.
they need to fix the dust under the screen issue.
!maybe a way to upscale low res images from the interwebs so they don't look like ass on the high res display!
but honestly, i have been more then happy with my Nexus after selling my 3GS.

THe headphones that come with the N1 doesn't work well on other standard 3.5mm jacks because the pins are specifically designed for the N1. Apparently if you insert the headphones into your computer half way it should work like normal headphones.

To the OP: cool story, bro.
There was exactly no reason for the OP as he just stated a few well-known issues that people can experience with this phone. Every device has a its own set of issues and the OP will now be fortunate enough to experience the many IPhone problems.
I think we'd all be better off if this entired thread was deleted.

People are growing tired of "it's okay, it's only the internet" as a justification for poor grammar and ill-written thoughts. It is also rather ironic that a person is off for higher education and is unable to use simple words correctly. Perhaps they should be handing out dictionaries and the like rather than iphones...

Let me help you with that since you'll need to know this in college:
i spelt threw wrong....woah! you're big and bad.
Your is a possessive term, where as you're is the conjugation of "you are". So in the future, make sure you check if your usage is right by replacing the term with "you are" and seeing if it makes sense to you.
Anyway dude...bro... you need to grow up and stop acting like an e-Gangsta. To be fair, nothing you posted is anything new. We've all heard it all before and so the thread is a flaming waste of space. That being said, good luck in college.
The phone has a powerful processor and an impressive amount of RAM. I dont think it uses either one nearly to its potential (at least i hope not), which is kind of cool because, although the phone is smooth and fast, the performance ought to be able to be vastly improved with software updates. I like the phone a lot but i also think its fair and justified to expect a lot more from it down the road.
If anyone that knows about hardware can confidently tell me not to expect much more from the device please post that information so that i may sell this phone. thanks
'Through' is the correct spelling. 'Threw' is the past tense of 'throw
"Yesterday, I threw a ball through a hoop."
I'm glad Jesus can afford iphone 3gs's for all students!
Jesus is a baller, lol, im still confused about this dust issue, does anyone have a picture of what this is all about? I got mine the day it launched and I have no idea what people are talking about I havent had any problems with dust and really cant see how it could get under the screen, I keep mine in my pocket every day so Im sure it woulda happened by now if it could. Id also have to agree that the only thing the iphone has is the app store, once androids gets up there it will be a lot better because there's a lot more potential. Id already have to say that handcent, dolphin, and google voice are good examples of that because apple only lets you use their stuff and blocks something if they already have an option is pretty wacksauce in my opinion, why not let the people choose which they like the best, makes no sense to me. Oh well. /rant

people always ask me if it is really a phone , the other day on the bus the guy next to me said "you don't see many people with the streak" then pulled his out
A lot of other Droid users are jealous when they see the streak..lol...This might be the best phone i ever owned. And i had the 8125 to the tilt 2 for years.
I had a Droid x Guy come up to me and say I have the biggest cell phone on the market. 4.3 inch screen. I said is that so you haven't seen mine. And he was amazed and jealous and he keep asking to see the phone all night long.

5/11/11Wed. 4:27pm...This thread is hilarious...I'm a female and i'm not sure if any other female has this phone. I always get comments from other on this device. Once time i went to foot locket and text my friend, this guy look at me so weird and ask if it's a ipad. I laugh and said it's phone and yes it's this big. He was like, "Oh my #$#$ are you serious? Let me take a look at your phone."...Oh heck no, no one can touch my phone. I spent $450 for the phone and $50 customize leather case for it.
One comment i got from my friend, "I think she's holding a BRICK not a phone. Look at the phone, it covers more than or her whole face." kaka
"Is that a phone?'
Is pretty much the default reaction.
Then I get asked what kind and generally a "That's awesome"

Oh?! I did not know DELL has got a smartphone out.
Never imagine a phone can be that big.

Are you sure you need a phone that big?
Your red phone is so eye-catching! Nice!
Ever since I've got this phone I've gotten more attention than I've ever asked for. People always look at me like I'm crazy when I pull this thing out of my pocket. This phone is an eye turner for sure and I honestly believe that I've gotten a couple of people jealous because it's a phone/tablet. My co-workers call me "THE PHONE KING" including my supervisors. I've gotten almost all my coworkers the switch for android and now that I brought this bad boy around they always want the same thing and wished that they never signed their two year contracts ( Haha suckers!) I always get the WHO, WHAT, WHERE AND WHEN from people. And for some strange reason people always want to compare the size of their phone to mine. Lol I love this phone and will never EVER settle for anything smaller EVER again.
Love this thread! PMSL!
I really like it when I get the people that watch me with it and ask all those questions mentioned above.
I just tell them,' It's an Android Tablet.' then all I have to do is flip the phone onto it's back and show them the sexy Red shell and the Dell logo, watch their jaws drop to the floor and become hypnotised by it!
'Is it a phone?' they ask again.
'Yes it does have a phone built into it, saves me carrying two things at once.'
'Bit big isn't it?' , 'That's what tablets are good at doing.(Chuckling to myself just loud enough to be heard)'
At that point everything goes a bit quiet and I just leave them there in a David Blaine like trance watching me finish doing something completely amazing with it!(A bit of Swype normally has a good effect on them!)
Now I'm not one for showing off and bragging about my gadgets but since I got this you gotta admit that it really does deserve the attention!
LOL... Nice thread...
Well... when size maters ;-) we are unbetable, hahahaha...
hahaha !!!

believe me..I forst bought an iphone 4 and then a dell streak a week later..and already feel sad for the iphone4 coz no one ever wants to see it whenever streak's around and for the dell streak its like i am always asked is tht an ipad !!!

Samsung is going to have a NINETY second spot during the superbowl!
A normal 30 second spot costs around 2-3 million bucks, and samsung is buying three of them! Whoa
The commercial is being directed by the Farrely brothers (There's something about mary, etc)

That's odd... people normally don't even notice how big the phone is when I'm talking on it... (possibly cos it's mostly hidden by my hands ).
People do, however, notice its size if I'm using it for other stuff like messaging or browsing...
OT: I'm really happy Samsung has been pushing this phone into the mainstream so much. It's an awesome device. And it'll be even greater with all the development support that comes from being a mainstream success.

Not a big fan of the commercial to be honest.
They sure didn't say much for a 90 second spot.
But I guess the whole point is to get people talking about the note, and then the Note will take it from there.

Dont let a Samsung employee hear you calling it a stylus
I hope they do something outrageous about it like it having a dual personality, a phone and a tablet, and it falls in love with an iPhone and follow it across the country. Oh wait, they already did that.
EDIT: ARRGH, my post is too late.
GIANTS won! Yeaaaaaa
Thought it was great! Really makes people think about a bigger better option, the Note. No hard sell just fun and entertainment, better than the half time show. The next three ads will do the rest. Haven't met anyone yet that didn't want my Note.
I won't say the Giants won as much as they just got lucky.
Waste of 9 million bucks. Terrible Imo
From the giant: Galaxy Note
why what do employees refer to it as?
Wish the ad showed some of the features of note, rather than people screaming around
Was really hoping for a much better spot outta Samsung on this one. Thought their previous commercials were great. Although i will say, i had 3 friends text me saying they saw a commercial for my phone.

^^^ This. If I didn't know what the ad was for (and I hadn't been following the Note for months now) I would think it was just another Android handset with that pointy stylus thing that Steve Jobs said was bad. Not a single thing special about it. Didn't feel like 90 seconds; seemed like it was over and I was still waiting for some tangible "here's why this thing is awesome" moment(s). Oh well. As the Note has done elsewhere in the world, I'm sure it'll sell itself on the merits as people start using them.
The add was lame. I was sold on the specs alone before the thing was ever announced (just rumored) ... Of course we have to remember, most people aren't nerds like us...
The downside to it's success is that, unlike the Dell Streak I'm writing this on, I wont be the only person I know who has one! When I whip out the Streak I always realize that no one has ever seen a phone like this. That is about to end...
The upside is of course that the development from this community, and the updates from Samsung should be great.

I think it's odd how many people say the Note is too big, or you will look funny holding the phone up to your ear. I make at least 40 calls a day, and I do not use a headset, and not once has anyone said I look funny holding the phone to my ear. Maybe I do look funny, but nobody has ever mentioned it, or even looked at me funny. I think the first few days I used the Note, I felt a little weird, but now I don't even think about the phone size.

I agree w. OP. I am a Prof on a 3 campus university. I am always walking around them and the research labs. I have no problems with putting the Note in my front pocket, talking on the phone with it my ear, using it with one hand and of course being able to do email, schedule, find a room number of a meeting - all while on the fly walking w/ or w/o the pen and usually using the dead accurate voice commands and dictation - never get a strange look.
I use the note like a computer and get things done with such less frustration than past phones ( moving between touch, pen and voice and using allot of gesture controls for speed). I am on one campus when a crisis happens on another ( I am a Grad Chair for a Interactive CS school on one campus and Dir of another small program in Cog Sci on another), checking email and voice inputting a reply or room number or person to call - saves me hours of frustration if I had let the problem grow and not made a quick fix or alleviated with a quick email.
The phone is a godsend and the 'it just looks to big for me being on my hip bus in Manhattan with my hipster friends ( hey I grew up in Manhattan) is just stupid press BS which we have to read all the time. Although 5 million of us know better.

Years back, the smallest phone was the trend and if you owns a small expensive phone, you would be the talk of the room! But nowadays, large device/screens are the growing tend. 4.3-4.6 inches screens seems to be the most popular but I think it won't be too long before the majority of people would adopt a 4.8 or 5.5 inches phone!
Thing is we all like to browse websites/check emails/watch photos and videos on the go, and to be able to do this with ease, we need more screen space. The Dell Streak 5 was great but it was built with very outdated hardware/specs. Samsung definitely has won the consumers by making the Note stands out of the market with the S Pen and some top hardware specs.

For some reason, I really enjoy it when someone else asks me if I'm using the Note. I'm not talking about the 'Wow, that's a big phone' type of stuff stuff. Just a curious 'Is that the Note?' and I just go 'yeah!' enthusiastically and flash a big smile back.
Got it from a security guard today - was showing my e-ticket on the phone to the other guard.
It's no joke that I don't attract any attention when talking on the phone in public - I really wish I got more to be honest, so I could tell more people about it.
honestly, I feel really weird why would you feel this kind of pleasure when you receive recognition about you using Galaxy Note?
I love my Note but it's just not more than a tool, it does make my life easier , like what a good tool does.

"WHAT IS THAT? Is that a Tablet? WOW"
"Oh is that the new Galaxy(Common Speak )?"
"Oh wow the note? Can I see?"
"How does that fit in your pocket?"
"Woah, that thing is huge"
It goes on and on and I really am starting to get annoyed, just let me use my phone! hah.

Rofl exactly the same stuff here. Sometimes positive resposes and sometimes the crap you mentioned

Same here:
1) 60% of "You could beat someone to death with this brick"
2) 20% "It's too big, I would never use such a big phone"
3) 20% "It can't fit in your pocket" (while I'm slipping it out of my pocket easily)
Everybody who got forced to use it (like some people in my company) do all love it in the end. Even girls like it here in Switzerland: A girl i know and her mother just bought 2 SG-N7000 and both loving the screen size. And girls can fit it in their bags
Size matters, as Hugh Hefner always said
Some of my friends jokingly say, "where's your laptop?". I just laugh. I love this phone. As for the pocket "issue", it's not one for me. I typically put it in my back pocket, but it will fit in side pocket too.
My friends always call it a TV and according to them I look so silly having a phone call with it. But I don't really care because someone who didnt used will never know how cool this phone is.
Besides, they don't know how silly THEY look with their tiny i****.

EVERYONE!
You tell those that ask/make fun about size that it's thin enough to fit in the front pocket.
This is true.
I've had it long enough(months) to be honest and say that truly... it is too big as a phone.
I speak PRACTICALITY for a phone,
it's too big. I've almost dropped it soo many times.
But, I Love It! The screen is in my face! Yeah! If the next iPhone is NOT 4" or more, I may get the 'Note' II.
Also, when ever I text/use a friend's smaller phone I say to myself, "yuke, what is this?!"
Yes, I cannot go back. Who can?!

And especially silly when they are watching videos on it. Then I whip out my Note and watch fantastic HD videos on it and I get dagger eyes staring at me.
And another funny thing is when my colleague keeps saying the Note is too big while he squints at his Iphone screen, reading only 5 lines of huge text.

Being a one handed device, which the note is not good at, is really a different thing than being a phone, which the note is perfectly fine as

I'll admit it was nice and fun at the beginning but now its kind of annoying. It still happens even after over 2 months of having the note.
Just random people will come up and ask is "is that a phone?" Or "is that the note?"
I get tired and a little bit fed up with repeating myself all the time to try and explain to them. I love my note tho. Its my big baby...haha
