Hi! I wanted to know if you guys have a problem with the battery life on SwiftDroid RC5. I have a poor battery life and therefore big battery problems.
i had mine and bought a new batt no probs after that
Yes, I do. Since RC4 and RC5 I have very poor battery life. Before it was enough to charge once every other day, now I have to do it daily.
Actually after installing RC5 it was a disaster as battery didn't keep even 24 hours but after recalibration it's better. But even then during the course of the day while doing basically nothing (say, sending and receiving 3 or 4 sms) it goes down from 99% to 40%.
Edit: I should mention that I overclocked to 800MHz, but I used to do it before RC4.

Same here. I'm moving on Cyanogenmod 6.
yeah swiftdroid is a real battery drainer but
on swiftdroid on average my battery lasted 2 days..
but still i use cyan6!!
good in battery and performance!!
Same here. Experiencing battery problems on SwiftDroid aswell. Like mentioned above the battery drains even when doing nothing. Experience this on basically any mod built on SwifDroid ofcourse. Changed to EleganceSwift, waiting for mike to release AOSP with Bluetooth-free radio ;-)
There's something more to it.
Recently I was playing a bit with my phone, installed couple of applications and then suddenly I realized that battery doesn't drain as fast as it used to. One thing I noted is that for example Videos application doesn't reside in memory anymore. I'm not saying this one was the sole battery hog but I'm starting to suspect that those cases of battery going down very fast may be related to some misbehaving app or apps and not necessarily be Gingerbread's fault.
If that's the case, the solution would be, I imagine, to trim system preferences to have such apps killed fast not to let them stay active.
using ASIS atm, but when I was using RC5 I didn't notice much faster draining. Still, it depends how many apps are running on your device and did you overclock it? I used to have min 250MHz, max 600MHz and it was pretty fine with texting, multiple apps running and music. Now with min 825MHz/max 825MHz it's draining faster ofc
Well,I remember a day when i update to SwiftDroid RC5, the batter drains and there isnt any app running in background after that i changed to a another rom.
btw fdespotovski, Multiverse is my favorite rom, in fact, i wrote on the offcial blog but i have problems with the RC3, statusbar sound widget doesnt work properly for now im on RC2

I'm not using ASIS, still at RC5, and what I reported is that both RC5 and RC4 drain battery much faster than earlier versions. Assuming ASIS is just cosmetic change to RC5 it doesn't surprise me you didn't notice any difference. And again, I do overclock to 800MHz and I do it since M5 if memory serves me well. I know principles of overclocking and I know, and accept, drawbacks that come with it. But when at the same clock RC3 can live two days or more while sometimes RC5 barely manages only one then I suspect something is not right.
I tried to check which applications are responsible for battery drain but system report is not helping when telling that 98% took Android system, 2% cell standby and 2% phone idle.
Sorry for necroposting but I didn't want to litter forum with new thread and the problem itself hasn't go away.
I'm still using SwiftDroid v2.0 RC5 and until recently I still had problem of battery barely keeping one day: whole night on the charger and after moderate to no use during the day on the evening it was almost drained.
Recently I installed one more application (rather unrelated, I'd need really solid proof that CPU Spy directly improves energy usage) and after that the battery easily keeps for two days. Which brings back the theory I have that the short battery life is not necessarily caused by Android itself but by some applications staying in memory and not sleeping properly. If so, installing extra app may help just for this reason that it having higher priority will swap out those misbehaving ones.
Thus I propose little hunt, if anyone's interested. I'd like to stay focused on v2.0 RC5 (maybe RC4/ASIS if you believe the difference is not too big). I need reported both GOOD and BAD battery life. In either case please write down all apps currently in memory (you can skip those you have installed, I'm mostly interested in what comes from ROM). And don't forget to mention which actual version do you use and whether it's good or bad case.
Given some meaningful data I hope to isolate which apps cause excessive battery drainage. I'm not sure what to do with that information next but I think it would be good start anyway.
To make said start, here's what I have:
SwiftDroid 2.0 RC5 / GOOD battery
- DSP Manager
- Usage Timelines Free
- Doit.im
- K-9 Mail
- Auto Memory Manager
- Superuser
- Settings
- TM World Clock
- Go launcher EX (doesn't report itself as staying in memory but I suppose it has to be running somewhere)

Guys help please, I have a battery/charging problem after installing RC5, this is my first ever custom ROM, it worked great yesterday, but after charging it over night I'm stuck at 99% it won't go up nor down, the phone won't charge and it won't even connect to PC via USB I tried turning it off completely and then plugged in the charger but it just booted up (is it supposed to do that this is my first android?) and that was it. Everything else works fine, wifi etc.... Is there a way to fix this ? I can't transfer a new custom rom to the sd when it won't connect to the PC

thanks ...............
I also have a battery problem... i have installed this ROM 3 days ago, and now i can't charge my battery over 45-55%. Phone was charging all night long, and batter lasted for a day and a half, but its annoying... btw, what now, do I delete battstats now at 55%, when i can not charge phone to 100%?

Check your brightness settings, i run about 25%, and do you have gps on all the time, are you using bt all the time. this is the most stable rom ive ever used.

No gps on, no 3rd party apps, no bt on. I just re flashed and my battery was charged to 100% and it dropped to 80% while phone was on idle. What kernel
are you using?? Also are you on version 6.2?
I think the notification led is an issue with z roms, when I've flashed them in the past I use the app blink to get it working again.

I also am having very fast battery drain. I dropped brightness to 50% and I tihnk I have had GPS going all the time. I will fix that now. I also want to know should I be using Version 3.0 >>>> Download or Version 2.2 >> Download
I know that sounds like a dumb question but as far as dates go it looks like 2.2 is the latest.
It "doesn't matter" which version you use depending on what you want as both are essentially the same minus a few, subtle differences. Nils provides several battery saving tips in the first page of both roms.
Nils Business Gingersense 3.0 v2.2 is based on Sense 3.0 thus it is more resource heavy. I personally use this rom and notice more battery life (as with any rom I use) when I don't use 3g. Not everyone is in my situation but I'm a grad student and I spend a good chunk of time at home so I primarily use wifi and extend battery life.
Nils Business Gingersense 2.1/3.0 v3.0 is a mix of Sense 2.1 and Sense 3.0. It may be more toward you're liking if you can deal without several Sense 3.0 elements like widgets and rotating home screen.
What is it you do when you notice poor battery life? Also, ate you comparing your battery life to an AOSP rom?
Since I can't post in the dev thread yet....
I've had the ROM for a couple weeks with few issues. I am noticing problems with the camera saving pictures. Sometimes it's fine, other times the images don't show up for several minutes, then today, several never showed up in the gallery. Just looking through the gallery, sometimes older pictures show an error, or on some occasions, duplicate. The image never sharpens on zoom as it used to either. Tried a reboot and fixing permissions to no avail. Is there a known issue with the gallery in GB or with Sense 3 on these phones?

Regarding battery life, I've been running this ROM for a couple of weeks and am getting good battery life, but I spend most of the day on WiFi (WiFi sleep policy = Never). I use the kernel included in the ROM and the stock radio.
Go in Settings > About Phone > Battery > Battery Use, then click on the battery graph. Check the line at the bottom that says Awake and compare it to Screen On. Your phone should not be awake constantly when the screen is off. If it is, then something is preventing your phone from sleeping. You can use an app like System Panel to monitor apps and figure out which is the culprit. This has helped me identify battery-hogging apps.
After flashing from 2.2 to 2.3 my available memory has gone from 130 to about 80 something. I don't know what i'm doing wrong here. Also I don't have anatase as an option in setcpu. any help errors be greatly appreciated. I love the ROM and can't wait to see 3.5.

I think the fast battery drain is not really the battery draining that fast. When I flashed this ROM, I had to wipe the battery stats and it slowed the drain amount down. At 1st I was losing like 10% every 10 minutes till I hit about 40% then it would hang there for most of the day. after wiping the stats it's a more accurate slow drain.

Guys its me again.
Flashed Pre-Rooted DDJP6 and G3MOD 1.8 extreme kernel.
Charged for 2 hours, After that taken my phone out of charging suddenly battery started draining to 10% and phone switched off. i waited for a while and restarted phone battery was 80% and suddenly 10% again and phone switched off.
In the past i had been changing rom since last 4-5 days from Kyrillos to Indroid to XXPJF to DDJP6.
Kindly tell me what is the issue?? Many suggest to calibrate, when we calibrate we have to drain it in reality and recharge it to 100% but my phone if showing fake battery it drains instantly so how do we really drain it and re-charge??
I want to solve this problem asap. As my phone is almost unusable, i suspected SETCPU is causing this so i uninstalled it but still no use.
Please help i don't want to re-flash the rom and lose the data again
There is a high possibility that your battery is damaged since, as I understood, this problem persists in more than one roms.

Switched on since last 2hours 3minutes and Mobile WIFI ROUTER AP in use since then.
still 22% Left. Dont understand , sometimes works very well and sometimes what a lag. I would let it drain and then charge fully.. Hope it works

first change the kernel to G3MOD v1.9 lite. be rooted. using root explorer delete batterystats.bin or install BatteryCallibration.apk charge upto 100% then let it drain. use battery monitor widget to check health and voltage of the battery. report it here. if health is good and voltage is >4150mV, u are good.
Actually its such an pain to again n again change the kernel i can't doo al data2sd and stuf again
btw i had cleared battery stats from the recovery so i don't have a stats.bin file when i tried batterycallibration it said the files is missing.
Sometimes battery works nicely and sometimes it lags usually at night what solution we have for this?
Battery was running fine at 100% on some tough work for an hour or so. Its rocking
So lets experiment , see the log below ->
SETCPU set to on demand max 1Ghz.
11:33 = Battery 100% , SETCPU setting on boot, wifi on , fb chat on , opera on.
11:41 - Battery at 74% FB CHAT off now installed operamini.. let me browse SETCPU still on
11:52 - Battery at 61% , Opera On , Setcpu modified to SAVE POWER.
11:54 - Battery still at 61% but phone is lagging more then it was before SETCPU. So i have uninstalled setcpu and kept my phone for charging. Lets see how much time it takes to fully charge..
I have reached the conclusion that SETCPU is the cause of problem
Even after SETCPU problem persists... drained it once and charged for about 1 hour , was showing BATTERY FULL... took it off charger switched on, was 100% kept in pocket in idle condition. 10-15 minutes passed by took it out and was down to 80 then to 50 in next 15-20 minutes without any work... What's gng on some1 help

Best kernel........????
Well there are 2 kernel which are just awesome ......G3mod 2.0 b3......and Fugumod kernel......
U can flash any one of them.....
I personally prefer Fugumod....but it's your choice coz both are fantastic....
Flash the new kernel and clear the battery stats....calliberate....and Setcpu doesn't harm your battery....
Even i am thinking about FUGUMOD.. does it include Recovery , app2sd ,data2sd and stuff.
If yes can you tell me which version exactly of FuGuMOD is the best for non lag stable superb experience ??
M using DDJP6 pre-rooted with superuser and i don't want to format and wipe stuff again.. lots of apps are dere and internal memory is still 800mb empty so will it b impacted if i flash a kernel?

If the batttery gets swollen, it means it is near the end of its lifetime. If it is swollen so much that you cant put your back cover on, it is time to change your battery. i would recommend you not to use your phone with that battery and get a new one ASAP.
Just to clear things out, fugumod doesn't include CWM recovery nor does it include app2sd script. You have to do this manually unless you are using a custom ROM which has this preloaded such as kyrillos' ROM.

It is weird that it happened on this phone. I CAUTION you STRONGLY not to use that battery as it may damage your phone, leave aside blasting and all.
I would also recommend you to take more care of the phone as in, not left in charge for way too long, not overclocked constantly at very very high speeds continuously, and also to check where you keep you phone while charging (dont keep it on heat emitting stuffs like stabilizers, fan regulators etc) Change your battery of course.
Looks like the problem is You. It is neither the battery nor SetCPU. You skipped some basic stuffs, ignored the governor scaling of setCPU and now just pay some attention and if you do, you got yourself a solution!

Nope its the battery only I checked it a mobile expert and saw the battery a bit swollen so its definitely a battery issue. I set the right profiles and governor while using setcpu. Maybe overcharging must have damaged my battery.

what worked for me
Hi
I wanted to thank for Zoe Rom on its thread, but i cant write on developer's threads yet (altough i clicked thanks button there).
Im glad i finally got rid of my memory hogging default rom and now i have a properly working phone again!
Also i wanted to reply there (to some people also complaining about battery endurance on GT540 on Zoe Rom) how i fixed my battery main problem.
Pic of current battery drain:
http://postimage.org/image/d8o8uusd7/
As you can see i am aproximatelly at 50% battery after 1day and 11h of not charging.
I had 2 problems:
1- Battery lasted aproximatelly 5 hours on standby (and i mean i wouldnt even touch the phone and the battery was gonne after that time)
2- During intense battery drain usage, the battery was reporting to have less energy than what it actually has.
1st problem solved by simply turning off the wireless after im done with using it. No idea how could that be taking away so much energy, but it was. Somewhere during the period i was using my default rom i got used to have wireless always on, and my battery on the later times was going away faster than normal (i also like to listen to music on the phone). At the time i didnt correlate the 2 things, and i just put in my head that it probably was the battery dieing on me. It wasnt! The wireless (i suppose because of the Sync function also being on) has been draining my battery like mad between charges.
2nd problem persists. As you can see on the pic, those 2 spikes down correspond 2 diferent aproximatelly 1 GB file wireless transfers with Wifi File Browser app. This transfers (PC->Phone) make the phone CPU have to unzip the two 1GB files to the SD, so they are very CPU and SD card read/write intensive (i can force this battery drops with other instense battery use like playing a 3D game for example). The thing is if during that temporarly drop on the battery level measurement, the level hits 5%, the phone will shutdown. But to be honest, this problem is minor comparing to the 1st one.
There is one other minor problem with my battery, wich is the reading being inconsistent (drops 10%, then gains 15% then drops 5% again etc), but is this a problem at all?
I read a post of a guy that had made extensive testing to his battery cycles, providing loads of graph of battery levels (cant find link) . I didnt read through all of it, but i remember the guy saying something in the end like "Dont be too paranoid with your battery levels, as they arent accurate. Instead use your phone normally and you will gain an idea of how long will it last with certain types of usage"
By the way, he also said for people to just charge their battery whenever they could/wanted as it has no negative impact on battery life. I also read a bit of a paper on lithium-ion batteries stating the same, so no more forcing full-discharges for me!
One last thing! Deleting the batterystats file is as simple as disconnecting your phone from the charger. Why? because that file serves solely the purpose of suplying the UI with info of the battery drain usage on the current battery cycle.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/google-engineer-debunks-myth-wiping-battery-stats-does-not-improve-battery-life/
And you can confirm this if you unplug your phone while looking at yout battery stats.
I hope this helps
PS: pls notice that it could have been not the wireless itself that causes the battery drain, but some service using the wireless. Finding this would require more extensive testing.

Charge it to 100% wipe the battery stats let it drain out then recharge it to 100 let it drain out again and then carry on as normal i do this before and after each rom and clear the stats etc before releasing each softmod my battery lasts on average 2-3days thats texting and 4-7 phone calls maybe abit of radio and checking email 4-5 times

Some people says that this does not work, but it worked for me. This procedure extended m battery life from 5h to 2 days..
Update
Hello again
I just wanted to give an update on the situation since i noticed this post is linked from the Zoe Rom thread.
Two days ago i bought a new battery, an unbranded one (cost me 15€ here in Portugal). The shop had a legit LG battery for 37.50€ but i tought it wasnt worth the money. This battery has the same specs as the original, except it is 1300mAh compared to the 1500mAh of the original.
I dont have any battery related problem any more. Yesterday i woke up (100% battery), unplugged the phone, let the wireless on all morning, listened to 2-3 hours worth of tunes, browsed the web a bit, tested some messaging apps etc. Today i woke up, didnt charge during the night, and im sitting on 45% battery. Wish i had gotten a new battery sooner lol
With my old battery the phone wouldnt shutdown. It would always automatically restart. I had no ideia a malfunctioning battery could cause this.
I've have had similar problems with the battery on my GT540 with all cyanogenmods - 2.3.7, 4.0.4, 4.1.2. There were no such problems with original 2.1 I think it is the price for the newer versions, I can live with that, I don't have to buy new phone
Same here...battery draining very fast....tried near about 10-15 roms...bt almost same rslt

It's normal after a couple of month of use, depends how many times you discharge your battery, remember...battery life it's very short on smarthphones.
lg gt 540 battery
Hi
I ve got LG GT OPTIMUS 540 android version- 2.1 and i have the same problem. If i dont use my phone batery can be dead in 5 hrs but if i use it 2-3hrs...my phone battery usage says android system eats 95%...is it norm or bad?
Hi all,
Just wondering if your all seeing reduced battery life with the ICS builds for the DesireZ?
I was using Miui (2.x) and now trying out Ice Cream JIBWich, and Im discovering the battery life is most certainly less. I've also tried CM9 Alpha and Andromedus r13, all roughly the same.
Battery Widget reports on average 40(ish)mA in sleep, I havent compared it to Miui but just wondering I've done something wrong here..
Install procedure this time was a factory wipe.
Comments?

I don't know if my battery life is worse on ICS than on CM or stock 2.3. Because I don't have any logs of battery life. Maybe I will do some tests in next week, just for curious.
So... I'm getting 30mA - 34mA drain on idle on Andromadus v13 with default kernel. It is lower than yours. I'm using latest radio now (.19).
After implementing new features and fixing bugs, there is a stage of development called optimization. That is when you will see all the battery life milked out of a rom.
And none of the ICS roms are even close to that stage, so battery will probably not be indicative of the final product.
I don't have any hard numbers, but based on my moderate usage, (8am to 11pm) I go from 100% to about 40%. Fairly good IMO when compared to sense roms (that i'm used to) but not as good when compared to AOSP GB or MIUI roms..
Hmm I found my battery doing suprisingly well compared to aosp gb, now that I'm using ics its lasting longer than ever.
It probably has to do with better app/process management.
That's my experience..

Well, this might sound strange to say but i'm actually getting the best battery life i've ever had out of ICS so far with Andromadus v13/Jibwich 1.3 on my phone. I seem to manage to get really long charges of at least 48 hours. Maybe i'm not using my phone as much as i was with GB? I'm not quite sure if that's the case or not, but i'm consistently getting longer lasting charges than ever before with GB.
Thing is though that ICS ROMs DO seem to drain the battery more while the phone is actively being used (in comparison to AOSP GB ROMs), this seems to be the case for me, as well as some other people that i've seen.
There were a few strange versions of Andromadus and Jibwich though which seemed to cause severe battery drain for me. Fortunately, that hasn't been the case with any of the latest versions.
All of that said, i still don't think anything compares to the battery life on G2 Slim (Gingerbread AOSP ROM), that ROM has ridiculously good battery life. With that one, i'd use my phone a fair bit (couple hours of tethering, gaming, lots of texting and calls) and it would still last for at least 44 hours or so.
In the end though, there are still some GB ROMs that have much worse battery life than ICS for me. For example, all CM7 variants that i've tried has always had this frustrating radio related battery drain, then some Sense ROMs seem to drain the battery a bit more than AOSP ROMs too. In response to the OP, i never really got amazing battery life with MIUI, so ICS has been a much better experience so far in that regard.
What i do know for sure though is that battery life with ICS is MUCH better than the stock gingerbread OTA update that our phones got.
thanks all,
I've done some checking and according to battery monitor, my JIBWIch rom seams to be fluctuating .. from 36mA to 97mA in standby which to be indicates something's running.. not sure what... Anyone recommend a decent process monitor, there's soo many of them

Agreed..
I'll see how it goes but I might have to go back to Miui (GB) as I use the phone for work..

Here was my (personal) record breaking charge on Andromadus v13 https://www.dropbox.com/gallery/12263406/1/screenies?h=c9ef42
You can see part of my configuration there (radio and CPU speeds).
On top of what's already there, i use supercharger RC6.9 with option 6 and nitro-lag-nullifier.
here are my usage patterns for good battery life:
-I generally stick to 2g networks as i don't do much web browsing while i'm out but when i do, i just switch to 3g.
-I also don't regularly use any task killers but if i detect any choppyness i kill app using Advanced Task Killer.
-I don't use auto-brightness and instead i just use the notification power widget.
-I do lots and lots of texting, some calls here and there, i often use wifi hotspot and i play 2d games a little bit at times, so i'm generally a light-moderate user.
-I also "debloat" as much as possible by getting rid of any system apps that i don't use.
On a random note, right now, i'm using Jibwich 1.3 and it is so great, battery life seems the same as andromadus v13 but this ROM is actually much more smooth and fluid on the home screen.
I hope this helps a bit, give me a thanks if you found this useful ;D
hey thanks for this, yeah very nice!
Just occured to me, im currently in Madrid (Roaming), and the phone's on 2g at the moment, I WONDER.. just wonder, if its constantly hunting for 3G signal.. now that would account for the random power demands...
Meanwhilst I found this app http://androidadvices.com/save-battery-android-phone-enabling-2g-network/
Apart from adding a 2g/3g toggle it also makes the phone go to 2g when sleeping.. I mean when its sleeping we dont need 3g access....
Anyone else tried it? or can recommend a different better/app?

Go to settings --> wireless and networks --> mobile networks
Now see if you have "use only 2g networks" checked. If you do, that'd be why you're always connecting to 2g networks.
As a battery saving tip, it's best to always check that option when you don't need mobile data (like when you're at home and wifi is available).
In addition to that, if that option is NOT checked, then your phone will connect to 3g networks where applicable, you have to check if your carrier actually uses 3g networks on your plan.
Also that app seems fine, but i wouldn't use the "use 2g when sleep" option because that could cause problems with reception between waking and sleeping because it'll be erratically switching between basebands all the time.

It looks to me that yes. Tried 3 ICS inluding JIBWich and CM9 based and battery life was reduced to me about 1/3 maybe 1/4. looks like that. Hope some improovment will come in near future.
I'm running Andromadus v13 and it seems to be only a bit worse than the latest CM7 nightly. However, this is only my subjective opinion, it could be that I'm using my phone more with ICS
I also have the .19 radio and the tweaks associated with v13.
Well from what i've seen, ICS has very steep and sudden drops in the battery stats graph when the phone is being used. This is in contrast to many gingberbread ROMs which just have a sloping negative curve on the battery stats graph. This seems to indicate that ICS uses more battery when the phone is being actively used.
I'll post pics after this current charge is over to show a comparison of ICS battery life with Andro v13 and GB battery with Virtuous G-lite 2.0.1.
I don't see any difference between GB and the ICS battery usage, maybe because i allways configure it from begining and don't restore apps via titanium backup or any other app...
Also battery needs to calibrate under new ROM and after few charges you will see it working little bit longer and longer...
ps. Do you have disabled Google Talk on ICS fresh install? He is always on after installing and eats a lot of battery.

I also configure all new rom's from begining and on Affinity 2 - my battery in averange usage die after ~16h but on ISC os about ~13h, I don't know why.
My battery after full charge get 4.212 V , tried clear battery stats bin no effect
My avg runtime on one charge on CM7 w/o oc, with ilwt or pershoot kernel is 60hours (yes! 3 "work days") or atleast 2 days with 50-70 min calls and 25-35 SMS
Turning data and/or wifi when needed makes phone battery least looooonger...
Now testing Andromadus Audacity b1, charged 7.5h ago (4207mV), i will post when empty (or near ~3600-3650)
Also remember that we don't have the proper kernel source for our phone. There are some tweaks that can't really be made yet, and probably a bunch of wasted cpu time where errors and stuff get worked through.
GB battery life was worse than Froyo at the same stage of development. It'll even out better when we have the official kernel source for the DHD, I think.
Sent from my HTC Desire Z using XDA
So most ICS based roms have roughly the same battery life?
I'm current on the audacity beta, getting about 20 hours with no charge with moderate use. Gingerbread i could go about a day and acouple more hours.
I'm a bit bitter that I can only use 3G or higher on Bell with my DZ...that means if I want better battery life I need to ditch mobile data altogether. Boo.

Better battery life
All,
I was just about to install "Elitemod", which claims to be tuned to bits wrt battery life, and I noticed AudicityBeta1 was released.. so i thought Id try it out.. and
And yes I think its much better!.. this morning I used it a bit, made a dozen phonecalls, sync'd email and for the first time the "voicecalls" are less than the screen.
(see attachment)
Im wondering if the recently released qualcomm drivers made a difference..
At this rate it will last ~40hrs... probably less but as long as it lasts the day Im happy
Anyone else want to confirm my findings?
Hi everyone,
I have a big problem of battey usage on Android...
I flashed the NexusHD2 rom in a first time and i realised the battery life was very bad ! (I lost 3% for 5 minute of use !)
I flashed the famous Typhoon CM7 rom and it's the same...
My Radio is 2.15.50.14 and i use CLK.
Thanks for your help
Try a different kernel. That helped in ICS, so after some trial-error you should find a good one.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA
What kernel is the best for it ?
I use Hyperdroid w/ seader r9 kernel. I get pretty decent battery life with it. But you also have to remember that the HD2 is a bit older so it has a smaller battery and less power-efficient parts.

Agreed, i flashed STOCK Windows Mobile 6.5 from T-Mobile and the battery lasted exactly the same time as with Android on it. I found that the ROM/Kernel combinations only matter a little. The phone alone has horrible battery capacity.

Buy a high capacity battery could help a bit ?

A bit?! Lol that would obviously help a lot. I'm not quite sure how accurate CurrentWidget is, but in terms of standby battery drain I get 5ma drain with wifi on on my phone. On the same settings on my Mum's Desire S she gets 26ma. However she gets great battery life, which I would only guess is due to the larger battery (and the fact that she barely knows how to use the phone, so the screen isn't on very much at all).

I use batterymonitorwidget pro. And i get around 5ma with wifi and cellular on.
Try using an app called JuiceDefender - it works really well at extending battery life. It basically lets you tweak loads of options to do with data and syncing, so you can have it set that data doesnt run when certain apps are open, or data is off when the screen is off, etc.
There's an ultimate version available, but it is £4.99 from the play store. But I guess that'd be cheaper than a new battery?
The same problem occured to me a few weeks ago. I have been using HyperDroid-CM7 which worked quite decent for 5 or 6 months and had very good battery life. ABut a few weeks ago suddenly the battery life became to awfuly decay, wasting 20% of the energy for idle hour instead of the normal 1-2. I changed the rom to the NexusHD2 ICS port and the battery life slightly improved but rhe problem stays the same. Could it be because the battery itself is broken or some software calibrations are needed (I haben't done any for an year since I bought the device)
