Just downloaded apk and updated mine.
The big thing is the auto-update capability on this release. Now why hasn't Google pushed updates to the market in a while?
Market updates are really random post 2.3.x.
On one rom (this was before this current one) I got 3.0.27
on a different rom i got 3.1.3
The two roms used were 350 and 351 I believe, completely unmodified and the same device, since I was using pkg updates they also fac resetting during the process so they were both clean slates.
They were about 20 minutes apart so there's no explaining why this happened.
Depending on how it's pushed you could either already have it or it may take months before it's pushed to your device, regardless google allows even 2.2.x versions to still access the market so you'll rarely ever be stuck in a situtation where your version is too old to update itself to access the market. (even though market updates is done completely different from how apps are updated through the market)
No matter what its still slow. Still sucks

only thing I dont like is needing background data to access market..
I always have i turned off to conserve battery.
i can still use data(browser, other apps, etc.) without background data..
there should be a way to just open the market as long as you have normal packet data enabled..
Im curently using the ICS market on Streak7

I agree it's slower than 2.x versions of the Market. As to it sucking, that is your opinion, and one I don't agree with. I think the changes made with this version of the market are worthwhile ones.

Yea i agree with changes made to looked the market . Only thing I Am saying is sometimes when you combines market twice or thrice to push an app and it still doesn't that's the time when you want to freeze the market updater And uninstall new update and use old version
Sent from my HTC Explorer A310e using XDA App
Most of the time going into manage applications and clearing the market cache fixes download issues. Next step is to clear the data (also in manage applications). You will have to accept the terms of service again. 90% of the time one of those two things will fix market issues. More market troubleshooting tips here.
If you want the new market and it has not downloaded to your phone you can try uninstalling updates and sometimes when the update reinstall you get the latest version.

I'm having a problem with Google Goggle. It is kwwp telling me there is an update but every single time I'm trying to update, it says installation unsuccessful... anyone else experiancing same issue???
I believe this is a known issue, same problem here.
I experienced the same problem.
I gotta say I'm a bit discouraged with all these bugs. I came from a samsung vibrant hoping to have a smooth working device. Sounds like a patch is in order

Ya known issue, no worries. I'm sure it wil be addressed in am OTA.
fRom Snugs G2 ^.^
Stuff like that used to happen on my Nexus...
Its probably because the Google Googles are installed as a systemapp and not a market app... that's why it gives you the option to install the app from the app despite the fact that its already on the phone, system apps are read only.

Google apps get updated very often, while Android versions not so much..Wouldn't 'read only' system apps complicate updating on the G2?
Even thought the market tells me a googles update is available, it turns out to be the same version #....
I had the Vibrant, but it had all sorts of issues.....the screwy filesystem, gps, etc was driving me crazy (lagfix or no)....My 24 hours so far with the G2 has mostly impressed me, as it really feels much more responsive and faster.....I hope the G2 root will prove to be as easy the Galaxy-S phones....

All other system apps updated successfully. It has to do something with Goggles.
What I did was uninstall the google maps update, then reinstalled it and then installed the google goggles update and it worked fine.
I just tried that and it didn't work for me.
That's strange... when I first got the g2 it said there was a update for it and it updated googles no problem. I heard someone meantion this last week but I have had this issue before with other apps. Sometimes it goes away on its own after time and sometimes I had to wipe the data partition. Its random and there is no real reason for it other than a uid mismatch between the updated app and the replaced app residing in the phone.

Sorry but root is a REAL ***** this time... grrrr!
Certificate error. It looks like the Google Goggles on the phone and the one on the market are not signed by the same key...
is there a way to trick the market to make it think my phone is a better phone? what i mean is, can i make the market think im running say, a droid x, or an incredible, since thats htc, so i can download apps i wouldnt normally be able to? i remember back when i couldnt see angry birds and it was the worst, it would be nice to be able to see every app, and try out the higher end ones that the developers leave us out of.
i seem to remember something with a build.prop file being changed but i can't find anything about it
Android app devs exclude lower end android phones because, they can't run their app at full potential and that would take away from the experience of using that app.
but with a rooted and oc'd phone i would think theres a way to do it, and run them fine

if you google [app name].apk you can find many apps.
It's not always about CPU speed or rooting, many of the limitations of this phone app-wise seem to come from the version of ARM processor it uses.
You can only push the poor eris to do so much.
As the above poster stated though, google the apps you're looking for. You'll find downloads pretty easy (aside from paid ones), but just because you find them doesn't mean the install will be successful or that it'll run properly/at all.
I would like to see if many of the apps would work though, there are some paid apps that I really could use.

Download Eris Market Fix in the Market and run the patch. After rebooting you should be able to search for any app.

that was the first thing i tried, and it has been working for most apps, but theres still a few paid apps i can't see ie:splashtop remote desktop, some of the paid keyboards, etc
any other ideas? i really dont want to pirate an app someone worked hard on
You need to also keep in mind that the X, Incred, Fascinate, ect. have a higher resolution. The Eris wont be able to run apps designed for them downloaded from the market simply because the resolution is different. You would have to upload the apk's to your computer and actually port them to the Eris.
as for the build.prop... you'd want to find the following line: "ro.build.fingerprint="
i've provided two (2) examples below... first being from an HTC Incredible running a 2.2 ROM... second being from a stock Eris (2.1 ROM).
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon_wwe/inc/inc/inc:2.2/FRF91/231334:user/release-keys (Incredible)
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/htc_desirec/desirec/desirec:2.1/ERD79/185970:user/release-keys (Eris)
It's a weird bug
after installing the latest market 2.2.13
it lost all my history of installed Apps
even if i re-install the missing Apps it will show momentarily there until i reboot the phone
Can some body else confirm this issue?
it will show all my purchased Apps as "Purchased" but not "Installed" even when the Purchased Apps are already installed in the system

I don't have that version of the Market yet, but sure sounds like a bug.
I think Titanium Backup (Pro) has a "fix market links" option...maybe running that will fix you back up.
I've got up to date market and 2.3.2... apps are missing in the market, my fave being Clockr (shallow vacuous person that I am)....
It showed up in the market before - it doesn't after the 2.3.2 update. Sound familiar?

i tried that already, but no joy
it only does it until the phone reboots
Clear Cache from Settings/Applications/Manager apps...?
Maybe a Dalvik-cache wipe also from CWM?
I'm sure you've tried those already, but just in case you haven't...
yup, already tried all of those obvious things
thanks for trying though
anyways that's why i think it's a bug
waiting for the next market update to see how it goes
Market apk
Could you upload that vending.apk with the version 2.2.13 please? I cant find it anywhere!?
I guess I'm not the only one experiencing this. I did an exchange and this one already had the new market installed (build date was 1/10/2011)...
I added my Google info and waited for all my apps to load up like my first three Nexi ... nothing.
Just never bothered to root yet. Oh well..

Not really. I have 2.3.2 and old Market, and Clockr is definitely there. It's not a protected app.

Clockr Evolution is protected... soz, my mistake, should've been more specific.
But what I was driving at is that since the OS update the market lags until Google fixes something to allow that OS to see protected apps. Suspect 2.2.2 N1 users are having similar problems...

I can confirm this has happened to me too, on 2.3.2 stock, no root. My protected apps are missing from the market, ledgerist and pacman championship. They are already installed, but they are not under "my apps" in the market, so if an update comes I won't be able to see it.
I read somewhere that it takes time after an update for the market to show these apps again, not sure if that's true.

It does, but only because Google is lame in this regard. When the OTA pushes out, update the Market servers to recognize it. Sheesh Google, how hard a concept to get is that?
Guess we'll have to wait it out until they update the device's profile on the market again.
I've just lost all my applications in the market. They are all installed on the device but market shows only 3 apps.
Did you find the solution for this problem?

So, I already know it's possible to side load the new market but i thought i'd point out a difference i've noticed between the market APK and the OTA market.
In the sideload version there is a limit to the amount of apps in the lists like "top paid" and "top free" or "editors choice"
In the OTA version there seems to be no limit and it goes on for quite a while.
It also breaks the ability to install apps that aren't available in your local market via the MarketEnabler trick that fakes the MCC/MNC SIM ID's.
There's no real benefit to the new market unless the video's are available in whatever country you're in.

by OTA and APK market do you guys mean the old 2.3.6 market and the new 3.0.27 market respectively? why does the title say new OTA market? what am i missing here? lol
anyway, when i was using litening rom the market there had no limit but when i switched to stock and installed the new market through an apk the apps showing had a limit and some known apps actually didn't display unless you searched for them.

I assume OP is talking about the market apk which you can install manually and you can get from various sites and the market update which is being pushed by Google these days and is "the most official" one, if i can use this term. Basically the same version, but looks like they behave differently. I didn't get the official update from Google yet, but waiting for it, no point in installing it by myself.
I was also wondering that why no market update here.
Could it be because of a custom ROM? no? Just have to wait in Finland..

It is probably being rolled out regionally based. I read on a tech site that it should come to Europe this week. We'll just have to wait and see, unless you wanna install the apk yourself.
I have the sideloaded version installed and I don't have this issue, the list goes on forever for me. I have version 3.0.27, maybe you sidedloaded an older version?

Yea this is exactly what i meant, sorry if my first post was a little wonky.
My atrix seems to have gotten the update but nothing thus far for my sgs2
What is seems is that the updates of the market app are not coming at the same time in all phones. Both my HTC and Samsung didn't get the update yet so we guess it is better wait than update the up for ourselves.
Hello all,
Did anyone else notice that the v3 of Android Market is quite buggy when it comes to updating apps?
It's been twice in a few days that I had the same issue: when I go to "my applications", see that one can be updated (because in spite of having checked the "check for update" button, it rarely indicates me that updates are available, at least not after a few days), click on it and select "update", it just keeps on showing "charging" on the screen, without network error and without getting to the page where I can accept the update (I am not talking about downloading the app itself, but just charging the final page where I can accept the download).
I did manage a few days ago, after having wiped clear the Market cache and data, to update one of my app (titanium backup). But today, when trying to update "text edit", I found that the problem re-appeared (it has kept on "charging" for 5 minutes without giving me the page where I can accept the update).
It seems to behave well if I try to add new apps, it just completely bugs when I try to update my apps.
I also didn't like the new market. I get notification that there are updates available but when i click i don't see the updates.
Restoring apps with titanium backup doesn't make the app show up in my apps so i dont get update notification. But when i search the app it shows installed and that there is a update.

No more automatic updates (really automatic - without my intervention)
Slow as hell, it's really FRUSTRATING, such a fast device, such slow Market
I hate it, the worst Android app ever, the least responsive.
The best way to discourage people from using the market - congratulations Google on that!
True, speed sucks with the new market. As well as prompting you for an update when there is no update. Hopefully they'll optimize it seeing it's so crappy on a device like SII, wonder how fast is it on a low spec device
How do you go back to the original market, is there an apk available?
Market has been an android embarrassment since day 1.
They need to copy apple on this one.
The leaked versions floating around all were quite buggy for me with all of them having different problems but the official one that was released actually works fine for me. Are you all using the official one that was released or the later/earlier leaked versions floating around?

I never did anything to get the new market. It just was here one day, without any notification of update (in a sense, this is quite strange for an app to be updated without even giving a notification).
My version is 3.1.3.
You can't go back, after some use, it would automatically update itself again, I too have been having issues where an app says there is an update, and I don't get the option to click on update.
Hopefully google just went with the new design with plans to optimize it as we moving along, cause it is a bit to slow and buggy right now.

+1. I have also had an issue where the new market just sits there and loads forever when trying to download or update an app.
Also timeouts when I have a steady internet connection forcing me to press the retry button.
