My problem is that when i try to connect my phone to my stereo the screen starts messing up. Everything looks fine but the screen doesnt register any of my finger strokes. Ive tried two different rca to headphone jack cables could it be my phone or my stereo perhaps. I just got my phone everything is stock.

My roomate has a verizon phone that he's hooked up to his car to listen to pandora/make phone calls via auxiliary cable to his car. Sounds great so I decided to give it a try.
I have tried 5+ auxiliary cables, even ones with built in mics. The person on the other end of the phone hears an annoying echo and makes phone calls unbearable, help?
I also tried it on my girlfriends fascinate, same problem.
How loud do you have the radio? I do this all the time with no issues

Just loud enough to hear without trouble. Just so were on the same page, this is simply connecting your phone to your cd deck to hear the other person talking through your car speakers. I've tried it with both my epic and my girlfriends fascinate using many cables on three different cars with same results. :\
Have you tried connecting to other cd decks?

Your phone's microphone goes into speaker phone mode when external speakers are connected (i.e. your car stereo), and at the same time the audio is coming out of multiple, larger speakers whereas it would normally come out of one much smaller speaker. The software will still use the same noise cancellation algorithm regardless, so it probably can't filter out the stereo as well because it is tuned for the built-in speaker. Maybe there is an app for that?

You are correct but the microphone is only enabled when using had phones with a microphone. I've used my phone numerous times connected to the car threw the aux port with out no issues.

Yes, I've tried it on three different cars. Both my epic, and my girlfriends fascinate have the annoying echo. I even tried it in my friends car, where his works fine.
Know what the issue might be?

Is it who had a problem with the audio jack. I bought the phone a week ago and now has begun to come to the association problems?

If you are using the ear phones that came with the phone, thats the problem. They are absolutely terrible. Try another pair and see if it works any better
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I've tried different headphones and the problem will not disappear if even the slightest move the headphone jack side the phone starts to use the loudspeaker or the music stops. Apparently, the connector is broken
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Are you sure the connector was inserted all the way? Try pushing it in harder.

Same exact problem here, headphone jack is problematic, have to wiggle my headphone while inserting to hear audio (takes me several tries until i finally can hear audio), and microphone completely does NOT work
Have tried stock headphones and iPhone headset, same problem, i have to wiggle until i hear audio, mic completely doesn't work.
I am convinced it is indeed the Audio jack, because both of my headsets work perfectly in other phones and gadgets, both audio and mic.
My phone stock kernel and have never update it (refuse to update without change-log) doubt update will fix anything, i believe it's a hardware problem.
For now Bluetooth is my alternative for headset.
If anyone knows where they sell replacement audio jack, plz post a link.
Could well be a dry joint on the socket to PCB. Take in for a repair better still a replacement hand set..
OK so I work as a dish network technician. Sometimes I hook up my headphones to my glacier to listen to some music and run it through my shirt so as for them to not get pulled while working on the ladder and all that. What do you guys think would be the best an easiest way toblisten to my music? How I'm doing it or are there any wireless solutions.. any help is a appreciated.

Assuming you mean access to the music media and not e.g. wireless headphones, if in the USA, try Google Music and mark songs for offline while you're on WiFi, so it won't use up data. Otherwise, I woukd suggest a large memory card.

There is this one Bluetooth+ wireless headphones, at radioshack. I wanna say by Samsung, really nice set. The headphones plug into the Bluetooth, then the headset clips on to your shirt. The earbuds are really strong too,I used them at my work for a while, very nice sound. The price I wanna say is around 60-80, can't remember.

I have to vote for Bluetooth headphones as well. I've tried two pairs: Motorola S9s, and Rocketfish RF-MAB2. The S9s were not worth what I paid for them. The sound quality was ok at best, the earbuds uncomfortable, and the battery life was not great. Their top selling point (for me, anyways) was that they were sweatproof. As I run and work out a lot, I was really looking forward to no more tangles. Turns out, they are not sweatproof. After about 3 weeks of workouts, they crapped out. The controls became unresponsive; I couldn't even get the power button working to turn them off. And I lost my receipt, so there went any replacement.
Did some research and took a shot at the Rocketfish RF-MAB2s. They are absolutely fantastic and better than the S9s in every aspect. Much more comfortable, the sound quality is fantastic, and the battery life is pretty much as advertised. The only drawback is that they are not specifically advertised as being sweatproof. However, I've been using them for over 3 months with no problems whatsoever. As a precaution, I wipe them whenever I feel they might start getting wet, and I bought a few of these covers to make sure sweat doesn't get into the charging port.
Bluetooth works great for me. Search Ebay and you can find a bunch. make sure it's the ones that can transfer media (music), not the ones that are used for calls.
Awesome thanks guys will try some out and let you guys know which ones worked great...I doubt here is but there wouldn't be like just a one eared headphone so I an just listen to music in one ear would there??

Personally, I use the Jabra BT-3030 dogtag adapter. It let's you use the headphones of your choice. I do the same thing with tucking the wires under my shirt. The device is great, streams music and takes calls. There is a Mic built into the top of the device. it has all the music controls and they work as expected, has its own independent volume control too. You can even use it as a remote control if you plug another cord into the phone's jack. Pretty cool if you hook up to a stereo and feel like being lazy.
I prefer in ear buds, so this was the best solution for me. You can find it for $20-30 online.

I used to have an eBay Bluetooth headset that played music through the speaker when connected to my computer, but not on my phone. I think in order for your phone to play music through it, it has to recognize it as a media receiver and most single earpiece sets will only receive call audio.
i tried conning my headphones to the phone but it cant fully connect.
i tried different sizes of headphone jacks but all of them cant connect
any ideas why?
What do you mean by "Not fully connect" ?
The Nexus 4 packs a 3.5mm headset jack, so basically every headphone with an 3.5mm jack should fit.

what i mean is that when you connect a 3.5mm jack there is a click at the end when its fully connect in my case its not fully connecting
Can you try to connect the headphones to another audio source (eg. your computer) and see if it connects to it?
If not, the problem is your headset.
If it does, your audio jack in your Nexus 4 is somehow messed up.

the headphones work with another phone so i guss its a problem with the dvice
Do you have any other headsets which have a 3.5mm jack?
If you have, try them. If all of the dont fit, your 3.5mm port is broken
You could try to RMA it, or replace the part yourself.

You need to push a hit harder right st the end, it's a tight fit.

Did you try plugging in another headset and taking it out? I find it odd that it would be 'stuck' in headset mode, even after a complete stock wipe.

using the flash tool provided on lg website
and still got headphones mode :<
any more sulotions guys?
Like mentioned before, I would guess that it's the physical headphone jack. Likely the contact that gets pushed when you insert the headphone plug is stuck. I would plug in another headset a few times and see if it fixes itself.
Plug in and out till it pops. ......

Just had this happen to me. Cleared data. Flashed stock. No difference. Has to be hardware. I wasn't even using the headphone jack when this happened.
I wonder if it's the connectors to the board

Mine isn't actually stuck on. It randomly turns on and off. It is extra annoying with the plug and pop app running. Something is loose. Maybe it is the board connector. A good drop on pavement could certainly knock something loose.
I found an app to route the audio to the speaker so at least I can still hear my alerts. Here's the link if you need it.
