[Q] Can't access phone settings - EVO 4G General

My EVO 4G is unable to access the phone settings. I am running SOS v1.9.0.5 RC2.2. I have run into this issue before and I reinstalled RC2.2. This did fix the problem, but i had to reset everrthing due to the clean wipe. I am not trying to go through all that again. Does anyone have any ideas on whats going on?

If your using amon ra try fixing uid permissions or wiping cache and dalvik cache

I have fixed the permissions, and wipe everything...still not able to access the settings. The root apps I use are Titanium Backup, SD Maid, and ROM Manager. I think I might just have to re-flash the .zip

Probably going to have to reflash. Good Luck!

Rebooting when installing an APP (Tranquility 3.6)

Hello,
I recently installed tranquility 3.6. I cleared the cache and installed via Rom Manager. I was running OTA 2.3.340 and the install went fine. I rebooted and had no bootloop or anything.
The phone booted fine and runs fine but I can no longer install any apps. I cleared the markets cache and all that and it still would not work.
I also cannot install any app through Astro manually.
When I cleared the cache it removed the Rom Manager recovery, since I can no longer access it.
My delima is I can no longer install anything to reinstall a new rom.
Now I would like to know if the System only 2.3.340 SBF will fix this or not. I read online going into the stock recovery and doing a factory reset would work as well.
I REALLY need this back working
I fixed this problem by booting into recovery and clearing data/factory reset and clearing the cache.

I did the same thing as the post above. Fixed everything for me
I think that's a common problem for Tranquility. I had to wipe and install it a few times to get everything working properly. No issues since then though.

i wasn't able to factory reset from recovery, however i was able to factory reset from inside Android which then booted it into recovery just fine (this was after SBF'ing the first time)
apparently doing a factory reset will fix tranq

[Q] how can i backup all the apps?

Currently i am running FR006 and want to upgrade to FR008. Is it possible to restore all the applications after i flash the new rom?
Is there a way that i can back up all the apps installed on my phone in the form of apk?
Thanks
I'd suggest Titanium Backup

I would suggest mybackup root
going from fr005 to fr008, you can just wipe the cache and dalvik cache and install fr008. you don't need to wipe data/factory reset. all your apps will be preserved. if you want to move to cm6/7, then you will need for factory reset the phone. either of the suggestions above will help you reinstall your apps after the flash.
+1 on titanium backup. There is no better app backup program. It may not restore as fast as mybackup, but it makes up for it with its features/reliability.

thanks to all of u.
So i will do a titanium back up, just in case.. And install FR008 on FR006 after wiping cache and dalvik cache..

[Q] Error wiping dalvik cache

So, i am in the process of changing roms on my iconia, i restore factory defaults, wipe the cache, wipe battery status, and then clear the dalvik cache. when I go to wipe the dalvik cache, i get E:unkown volume for path [/sd-ext]. It proceeds to wipe the dalvik cache and i get no errors when reflashing my rom (taboony) or installing villans custom kernel. It flashes everything correctly but when I load my iconia, i get a fc when loading super user. I reinstalled iconia root which temporaroly fixed my fc, but after reboot again i get fc when loading su and no fix. Any idea whats happening and how I can fix it. Sorry about the typos here, using a netbook and have sore wrists.
The Error message you get is no problem because you dont have an ext Partition on you SD card. And if there is no ext Partition the recovery will not find it and gives you this message so dont worry about this.
Because of superuser: Go to Rom Manager and choose "fix permissions" and let it do its thing. Normaly this helps with FCs.
If this does not help. Go to settings - applications - manage applications - search for superuser and delete all Data at superuser app.
I hope it helps.

Sure thing fixed permissions solved my fC issue. Thanks much

[Q] Best practices going from CM7.1 to 7.2?

It's been a long while since I flashed a ROM and I am bit rusty on the process.
I downloaded the ROM for vision.
Where do I put it? On the phone or the external SD card?
Boot into CWM and then? Do I need to clear cache, data, anything?
And then I flash the ROM, right?
Put the ROM on the SD card. You can flash it from ROM Manager, or as you say boot into recovery and flash it from there. Make sure you backup your current ROM before you start though.
You should be fine just to wipe cache and flash it over the top.

Thank you. I tried doing that. A couple of issues:
1. Market showed only about 10 apps. I couldn't find all my apps. I thought market synced and downloaded any missing app.
2. More importantly, I could not download any app. I kept getting market error. I tried rebooting and wiping market data, but nothing.
I went back to the backup. Any pointers?
Back up your apps via titanium backup the do a full wipe the flash new rom, the restore apps via titaniumbackup

CWM Wipe doesn't work anymore.

Hello,
Today I wanted to factory reset my phone so I booted into CWM Recovery and did a factory reset. Strangely when I rebooted all my apps, settings and other stuff where still there. Then I tried to do a factory reset via the settings menu but it still didn't work. I figured I should just flash the rom and gapps again but this didn't work either. Also when I tried wiping dalvik it just went back to the advanced menu in CWM without wiping dalvik. I run CM9-NIGHTLY-121118-Defy+ with gapps-ics-20120429-signed on my Defy+, Bootmenu version is v2.1 and the CWM Version is v5.7.0- jordan.
I hope someone can help me figure out how to fix it.
Thanks!
You can try the format filesystem option from the boot menu. Convert to ext3 and then back to ext 4. If this doesn't work then try a wipe from the stock recovery. And lastly, try an sbf flash

Ah thanks, yesterday I figured it would just be easier to flash a stock sbf then go trough all the hassle of finding a solution.
Thanks anyways!
Using these would've been an easier solution, though - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818520
