So I bought a hd2 rooted to android I don't know alot about rooting but Im a quick learner. I think it's rooted with NAND and madglar or something and when it boots it says dft I think. So the problem is it doesn't have root acsess I guess they rooted it wrong so I want to put it back to stock and normally to unroot you put it in recovery mode well when I turn it off and on holding the down arrow it comes up with the rainbow screen and is stuck there and won't go to bootloader so I'd like to have it back on windows to try again or leave it there but I'm stuck and watched hours of videos can someone help please. Side note I don't care about root acssess but something was messed up with the signal with the bad root and i have horrible connection most places.

I think all of the NAND Android ROMs come rooted, and there is no such thing as a bad root. NAND Android may have flashed incorrectly, but I doubt it has anything to do with root. What you should do is download a ROM (it can be any ROM for your appropriate HD2 [TMOUS or EU]) and enter bootloader, then flash the ROM from there. The bootloader IS the tricolour screen by the way.
Alternatively, you could Task 29, flash Radio, flash MAGLDR, flash CWM then flash ROM if you want to keep Android (and a much more stable version, DFT stock Desire is very old)
So I have a stock rom on my desktop but how do I flash it to the phone and sorry when I saw videos they were on the multi colored screen then it went to a white screen but mine doesn't and I said bad root because it's only half way done like it runs android but superuser doesn't work and root checker says no root acsess

1- The only thing that says DFT when booting is old Windows Phone 7 roms (And DFT's Stock Desire NAND), you sure you have android? (or do you mean the very first screen?)
2- Rainbow screen is the bootloader.
3- On that rainbow screen does it say Cotulla or HSPL or both?
4- If it does say, just download your preferred WinMo6.5 ROM and install it using the HD2 toolkit while being in the bootloader (rainbow).
5- As Nigeldg has said, all Android ROM come pre-rooted (only DFT Stock Desire NAND is not rooted)
1 yes I'm sure
2 ok
3 both
4 I'll try where can I get the tool kit
5 idk what that means
So you know you have hspl... then that's a good start... now reflash magldr 1.13.... once that goes well... flash a 250 or higher partition clockwork recovery.... to do that you have to be in magldr boot screen.. and select flash via USB... let me know how that goes... if still have trouble just pm me... we will get it running

1. Is not strictly true, see this video, skip to around 7.30, DFT logo on bootup.
@ OP enter bootloader and connect USB. You should see 'USB' at the bottom (replacing 'serial' or something like that). Once this is done, flash the ROM from the bootloader.
Or, better, reflash a new Android ROM.

Firstly its "ROM" not "room".
What do you mean "with triangle" ??
Which HD2 do you have and which ROM did you try flashing?
Can you get into tri-color bootloader mode?
Sorry i post my thread quickly. Yes i tried to flash a ROM, i have HD2 512MB. I tried to flash a 3.14.405 rom. triangle - i can get in tri-color bootloader mode, but when i try also flash original rom there is no result, it crashes on 9 or 17%. Triangle is a sign when i switch on a device, i believe it means ther eis no windows/rom on device

your device is not bricked... get into bootloader and do a task 29 (LOOK IT UP)...
Then start from scratch... Magldr, then whatever ROM you want.

Possible fix stuck bricked hd2 radio no rsa information
Please read the whole post first sorry about the mess it is my first post thanks to everyone here on xda who came up with everything i used to do this There is guides for this xda has a lovely list of tmous roms if you are on t mobile in the us http://www.xdafil.es/index.php?path=HD2/TMOUS/
i would start with the RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.02.531.MASD_S__Radio_Signed_15.29.50.07U_2.06.50.04_TeleNav-5.5.42.zip
extract the .exe file if it has one than extract the RUU_signed.nbh from the .exe file using win war or 7 zip than rename it to LEOIMG.nbh and place it on a newly formatted microsd not a microsdhc and i had problems with anything over class 4
place it in your phone and hold the volume down button and power button as loading comes up let off volume down power button will start the flash(i was only able to do complete flashes in the freezer if not it would hang or get radio errors)
i also had a tmous which did not want to flash the radio i would get an an error and rsa fail it sounds crazy but i wrapped it in plastic and stuck it in the freezer for a while before and during the flash this was the only way i could install the radio and actually see rgd information on boot screen after this first one you will have an old test rom with an old spl you cannot change to hspl from here i also was not able to go straight to 2.10, i had to step up from RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.03.531.6_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.50.23_3_Test.zip, to RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.03.531.6_Radio_Signed_15.30.50.07U_2.06.50.23_3_Test.zip the same way i did the first one, hard resetting after each one and let it open windows completely to know it is working. than i believe there is an hspl3 file somewhere out there with all thanks to DarkForces Team HardSPL3 by bepe and Cotulla i will try to attach it that will work with spl 2.02 wich you should now be on now you can download your radio in the master radio thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787
i also just renamed the ruu_signed.nbh to LEOIMG.nbh and ran through sd i seem to have problems through usb and i was trying to be careful with the radio
once you got the radio you want you could flash the rom preferably running task 29 before or get yourself magldr to install through nand i also stuck my laptop an the freezer with the phone to get wp7 completely installed i did all this mess with a phone that had a broken screen i think there is like thermal compound over the processor to the case that is not on right and overheats when not in the operating system like a crappy old laptop with its fans full of stuff trying to install xp. and while a stock rom was being installed the usb was pulled during the radio installation i hope this helps i belive i saw one post to stick it in the freezer out of everything that i think helped the most.i also notice i have to put it in the freezer at boot too sometimes or i will get a fatal hit error i think its just over heating..... i also have an hd2 which has never been opened before that i have never had to stick in the freezer it gets flashed quite abit right now running gingerbread on normal hd2 and wp7 dual boot android 2.2 on the one i had to freeze i hope this helps i was here for weeks reading reading i was stumped cus my first hd2 and g1 were so eazy i will update this post once i stop being lazy and open the phone again to replace the goop to see if that is the problem
Thank you for reading my jumble and thanks again to all you phone heads here on xda which without you none of this would be possible and i would not have wp7 and gingerbread on my hd2 : D
I did a task29, flash a ROM succesfully, but now it' s stucked in HTC loading mode (Shows a HTC and nothing happens)

no luck at all I tried it once and have succesfull rom update, but it stucks when started with HTC logo, i tried second time and still no luck. Please help me.. all the time now also for original rom it says that this room is not for that device
original rom
you have to find the original rom shipped with your phone like here i am tmobile usa roms you have to find your carrier and country and start with one of the first ones i started with my second one RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.02.531.MASD_S__Radio_Signed_15.29.50.07U_2.06.50.04_TeleNav-5.5.42.zip and i kept getting stuck screens when it was hot turn it off maby find some silica gel (lil rocks that come with everything to absorb water) wrap it in plastic and throw it in the freezer does the back of the phone get real hot during flash
i have shipped original rom, still no luck
not the newest one
you need one of the first test roms this was the only way i got mine to work i had to go from 2.02 to 2.03 to 2.05 hard resetting after each install making sure they completely went in what carrier are you and where are you
Still stuck?
Download HSPL 3.zip from page 1,
Run the program;
a) select 2.08.000 (not HSPL) and you can flash stock (HTC) ROM with no damage or aftermarket changes on your phone.
b) select 2.08.HSPL and you can flash whatever you want
Install MAGLDR 1.13
Flash ROM
Make sure you follow the instructions EXACTLY. You can find these all over XDA, look at all of my posts if you need to.

Hi, thanks a lot. Only, SPL for original rom was 1.42000 is it ok to flash with 2.08.000 ? And why i should install MAGLDR 1.3 ? Thanks in advance,
Ok, now i dont understand anything. My original SPL was 1.42, i did Hardspl 3, after that tried flash original rom, process stuck on 96%, after that i tried once again stuck on 9% and says rom not compatible with device. And its like a hidden circle, my phone is acting like that all the time. I tried task29, tried all HSPL, also 1.4200, 1.66 and so on. Can anybody help me? my skype nick is martins.prieditis , maybe someone can assist me?
Ok now its fixed. I did a HSPL4, due to which original rom freeze on 0%, but 3.14 didnt start up on loading OS (white screen with HTC logo))or freeze on 99%. Than went back to shipped 1.42, stock room succesfylly flashed and did a SSPL_RUU. Now the only problem is that my LEO restarts when it gets hot. Any ideas how to fix it?
Thanks all for youre help (regarding my previous issue) !
Overheating??
As mrpoe stated in post 9, One of his phone had to be put in the freezer to be able to flash anything otherwise it will get hot and freeze.
Also the motherboard is most likely broken and you cannot get it to work without freezing or it will keep rebooting...
The best thing to do if you still have warranty is to Keep stock SPL and stock WM6.5 and return for warranty.
It will not function the same again.

As Nick.C has pointed out CWM = ClockWorkMod Recovery. Im assuming this is the method you are using to flash your builds.
I did not mean for u not to use task29 at all. Follow the steps below and all should be well.
1. Task29 to remove Windows Phone 7
2. Flash official WM6.5 Build (DO NOT Task29)
3. Download and use SD Formatter 3.0 to format SD Card. Set option to Full Erase and Size adjustment to ON.
4. Install MGLDR 1.13
5. Flash CWM
6. Flash your favorite android build.
just to be sure...after flash official rom...i think i need to hspl before flash maglrd
i know i should read mag installation guide...but...im stuck in highway and im too lazy to find it hehehe

If you have flashed custom roms before, then you already have HSPL installed, because u cant flash custom roms without it. HSPL is always there until you remove it, even if you flash an official or custom rom.
To flash MGLDR - Boot into the boot loader screen (Multi Color Screen) and then flash MGLDR
To flash CWM - Boot into MGLDR and select usb flasher then flash CWM. Some chefs have there own custom CWM so read there instruction so u will know if you will use the original CWM or their version.

Thread moved to Q&A.
Unable to load American Android 2.3 on HTC HD2.
Downloaded the American Android 2.3 for TMOUS->Extracted Android folder to blank SD card /sdcard/Android->Opened up file manager on HTC HD2 /sdcard/Android and ran clrcad.exe got the untrusted popup clicked okay->Ran haret.exe got popup again clicked okay then saw a few white command lines (maybe 5) then the green HTC logo appears and sits there for ever. I let it sit for 30 min and no change had to pull the battery and restart windows. Phone is up to date only difference might be is it has been unlocked through T-Mobile. Does anyone know how to avoid this?
Ergh
I even tried HSPL3 and that didn't help... I just want the American Android 2.3 Gingerbread to load on my HTC HD2.. WTF!
Im having the same problem as well. I did the fat32 primary partition, on a clean sd card, ill wait for 30 minutes before i give up. some one please help, i got the desire hd rom running but would like to see what the gingerbread 2.3.3 is like.
Did you flash a new radio rom?
SO, you are going from WIn 6.5 to Android just by haret ? You cannot
If I was you I would start all over flashing HSPL 3, then flash Radio 2.15, then install Magldr 1.3, then copy the zip file to sd card and install. It's as easy as drinking a glass of water.
Be sure you chose SPL 2.08.HSPL and NOT SPL 2.80 when you flash HSPL 3

Ok first off what valv507 is mistakenly thinking you are trying to run Andriod from NAND. When you flashed MAGLDR you wiped your ROM from your HD2. This is why you can not get past MAGLDR it needs a ROM to boot.
You will have to reinstall your Windows Mobile ROM (hope you dide not loose too much data ) make sure it is a 3.14 ROM as they are the best for running Android from SD. Also make sure you have the 2.15.50.14 radio or atleast the 2.14.50.02 radio, the 2.15.50.14 radio is the best though. Also reformat your SD card again but use the Panisonic software to format it as most people say it is better than the Windows software. You can download it here. Make sure you do a full wipe and format using Fat 32. Then place all of your files and stuff from your back up back on your SD card including your Adroid build. then try to boot the Android again.
Put your HD2 into bootloader to reflash your Win Mo ROM. Hold down the volume down button while powering on your HD2 to get to bootloader and make sure you see USB in the white bar of bootloader before you flash the ROM.

What if I just want to run Android from NAND? At this point I just want to flash Gingerbread 2.3 on there but want the best version of that with the fewest bugs. Do you have any links to such a ROM? How would I go about flashing it? Thank you for the help in advance.
If you do a YouTube search you cab find a "how to install " video for installing NAND Android GB 2.3.2 on the HD2, it also has links to ROMs, Radios and MAGLDR 1.13. I installed it in about 15 mins after d/ling the specified files and I have only had a HD2 for 3 days. Very good video. If you want to go NAND Android just click on thr guide linked in my signature. I have links to two of the best guides on how to install NAND Android on your HD2 at the top of my guide. My guide is not a guide on how to install NAND Android but a guide to teach you what the things you need to install and run Android from NANN and WP7 are, what they do, and how to install them.
Also I use a non HTC Sense Gingerbread ROM and I really like it click the link for Hyperdroid in my signature if you want to check it out.

What exactly are you asking here? Do youi want to know how to enter bootloader?
If so you just hold your volume down button down while powering on your HD2, this brings up the multicolor bootloader screen. From bootloader you can connect your HD2 to your computer wait for Serial to change to USB and then flash what ever you are wanting to flash radio, Windows Mobile ROM, splash screen, MAGLDR, and cLK. Click on my guide in my signature to get even more knowledge.
it is possilbe to have magldr installed running whatever NAND os you want.. and still boot ACA from sdcard.
the first post of the ACA thread has all the details you need to accomplish this.

to run it from nand you go to 10 services, than boot settings ,than select android sd ,than go to 10 again than select boot settings ad sd dir than select the android folder make sure there is not another folder named android, than go to ad sd nand and it will load. it tooked 15 minutes but he did say it would take long.
I took the same steps as the OP did and I'm experiencing the same problem. I am not planning to go through NAND and would like to stick with the SD build but it will not load. Any suggestions?
I'm using the latest American android build. Here is what I did:
1. Copy ENTIRE android folder to sd. If you want a faster boot time you need to copy over a new data image since one is not included in this build. It will create one on first boot, but this takes longer.
2. Once you've done this run clrcad then haret and allow it to boot. Mine took about 15 min total boot time to first lock screen without a data img. And about 7 to 10 min with.
3. Once you see the first screen DO NOT touch it. Let it settle for about 10 min. After that it should shut it self down.
4. Turn phone back on and boot android again. Letting it settle again for a few minutes. After 5 or 10 min of letting it settle pick it up and enjoy your sexy gingerbread.
Also, on a side not magldr is used for booting from wp7 to android. Haret is what is used for booting android from wm6.5
Hope this helped.

I have to post 10 post before I can post to another thread. 1
Hello;
It's been 5 days that i'm reading about this problem, and i didn't find any reliable solution, so i'm posting it here:
I've juste flashed my third HD2 with a new radio (2.15) an android NAND rom (the Nexus HD2 ICS), and since then i can't get into the bootloader mode, i've tried the vol -, the adb reboot bootloader, and nothing works.
i want to access the bootloader to downgrade the radio to the 2.12, and without the connection to usb via activesync, i can't do it. i just can access the MAGLDR menu when it says WPH not installed (i think it's the source of the problem) and then install roms.
So if anyone can help me changing my radio without the bootloader or how to get it back, i'd really appreciate it.
Vol down works perfet on WM6.5 and on android, and i've tested it with the key tester in Recovery mode
No answer?? no one raising the finger?? So basicly there's no solution for my problem!!!
Aaaaah did you change the boot source looks like Its trying to boot windows mobile and you have android installed btw we have no fast boot support in magldr. Change the boot source under services and technically it should work

I restored the boot source to Android from NAND, and it just simply avoids the "WPH not installed" message on Magldr, nothing to do with the bootloader who is still missing... anyway thanks for the tip.
Lol if your bootloader is gone your phone would be bricked!

I don't think your alone because I've read a similar thread a while back but I can't seem to find it again. Basically it was reported to be an issue for many users who had used HSPL4 to flash HSPL or something like that. I did and can still access the bootloader but others have had problems. I don't think it should be something to be too concerned about unless you want to restore back to stock WinMo to send it in for repairs or something or if you want to change bootloader from MAGLDR to cLK. Flashing the radio as you wanted to do can be useful but I doubt there's a significant difference between these. And whenever anyone mentions 'do a Task29 to be safe' it's just BS. Task29ing is unnecessary in most situations but people have simply got into the habit of doing so every time they flash a ROM (which can actually be bad for the phone as it can eventually lead to bad blocks from what I've read) so whenever people ask for help their first response is Task29. Basically, I would say that you shouldn't worry about it too much
my volume buttens doesnt work at all, i accedently tare them apart when i replaced the digitizer screan.
the phone is still on WM
so in order to flash android i will have to navigate to rd recovery, and then to flash the touch recovey (that is challenge by it self)
so... any one can help me?
How do you have recovery AND WM ? Don't you need MAGLDR or cLK for a recovery? And you can't have those with wm?
in cLK, hold the "Home Button" .. in MAGLDR, I don't think it's possible. (Or is it?)
if i understand the question, the OP is running WM on the hd2, which has defective volume buttons.
because it does not yet have magldr or clk, booting the phone into BOOTLOADER will be necessary to get things going. the preferred way of entering into BOOTLOADER involves powering on the device with volume down pressed.
however, if i remember correctly, starting the CustomRUU on your pc while usb is connected to phone and the phone is fully booted into WM will do the following:
1. reboot into BOOTLOADER
2. flash the contents of the CustomRUU
if i am remembering my hd2 basics correctly, i guess you could flash CLK+TouchRecovery using the package in the first post of this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769081
i think that package contains ONLY the contents to be flashed, so you will need the rest of the files of CustomRUU beforehand (the EXE file, etc, etc).
you don't mention if your device has HSPL or not. i seem to have forgotten the steps for installing HSPL but if ANY step REQUIRES (no alternative) booting into BOOTLOADER manually, then you will be stuck with no way forward!
also, i think once you get CLK+TouchRecovery+Android flashed to your NAND, then i think CustomRUU won't work with regards to Point 1 (mentioned above). so you might have trouble executing most use cases of HD2 Toolkit.
finally, i think the partitioning steps using CLK+TouchRecovery will REQUIRE use of the volume keys, because partitioning is done inside CLK using the CLK menus which work with volume keys only! so you might be limited to android ROMs that fit into the DEFAULT CLK partitioning! :crying:
get the buttons fixed and you and i won't have to wrack our brains so much! good luck!

@OP, be REALLY careful before you dive straight in, because unless its a winmo rom or a radio, doing this will mean there is NO way for you to get into bootloader, since there wont be any winmo installed any more.
So, there probably is a way to do it and end up with a successful install, but you have to be REALLY sure of the steps, and do it all in one go, , you wont get a second chance.
if the phone isnt on 3.14 winmo, or a tmous, then the first thing you need to do is switch radio before you lose winmo, since it must be flashed from bootloader, meaning you need to get into bootloader at least twice. Do 2.08.hspl first, then the radio, and only then consider removing winmo.
I say again, be really carefull and absolutely sure of what steps you take.

TOTALLY agreed! i tried to write my post to highlight all the numerous possible pitfalls, but i might have made it sound like a series of easy steps. things quite often DO go wrong, and i will also reiterate that you just might get stuck due to a minor mistake.
i guess what we are all trying to tell the OP is it is better to be safe than sorry. you presently have a working hd2 (with WM) and it is indeed too risky to proceed to switching to android with dead volume buttons. so better to get them fixed first and then you won't have to worry about laying down a plan that could be as complex as a long term chess game!
Sorry for misguiding you guygs. The phone already have HSPL and maglr 1.13 and even runing andrdoid.
From that point, how can i flash the touch recovery?
This is my brother phone so i just saw the device, he cant tell the difrance between wm and android lol

I would recommend that u dont flash the stock rom again until u know how many bad blocks u have. I have 5 bad blocks, I regret changing my partion sizes ( windows mobile and windows phone os change size during installation) Just tell him that is can get messed up and just search on youtube for videos of hd2 with wm.
