U8800 died !! - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Hello, my u8800 just died..
i got a blue screen a couple of time and had to pull the battery.
now it is completely dead... ? how so?
it was running MIUI just fine and i just rebooted it and got a blue screen..

What happens if you press and hold Vol+,Vol- and Power?
Can you still get into Bootloader?
Bluescreen usually wipes the Bootloader, but you can fix that if you can still access it...
In case you lost all the data in Bootloader (pink screen), format the partition with FAT32, create a folder called "image" and copy the following files on there.
EMMCBOOT - http://www.mediafire.com/?lb6ifvgk72iru4a
AMSS.MBN - http://www.mediafire.com/?d6r45q6p5gew59v
Recovery.img - http://www.mediafire.com/?57njygc8oianjac
Boot.img - http://www.mediafire.com/?6d5i0714a7o9z97
If you can't access the Bootloader (pink screen), I'm afraid it's going back to warranty.

same thing happened to mine, still trying to fix it. managed to flash CWM recovery like that but now factory reseting leads me no where, of course, and restoring a backup from the sd didn't work either, all i get is a bootloop.
i'm so very lost please help, tell me what you need to know to help me

DON'T factory reset or restore a backup! Once you've had a blue screen, you CAN'T restore or factory reset a Rom.
You should flash a custom Rom directly. Just copy the Oxygen.zip (http://sourceforge.net/projects/u8800oxygen/files/) in the root folder of the SD card and then wipe data, cache and dalvik cache.
Flash the new Rom by Selecting "install zip from SD" and select the Oxygen.zip archive, the installation process does everything else.

Thanks GOD!
It was completely dead, but when i wake up this morning i got it on with bluescreen again, hooked it up with my pc and copied the files u linked.
now it seems MIUI is booting fine again!
but how come it got wiped in the first place?

Not sure to be honest...It's some sort of miscommunication between bootloader and Rom (kernel) and Huawei designed a fail-over mechanism that wipes the bootloader (screen becomes blue when this happens).
Anyway, glad to hear that you got it going again.

wow thanks katu2006 xD I just realised how stupid I was
you see this whole thing happened, I think, because I tried formatting a NTFS sd card I put in the phone. I wanted to put files bigger than 4GB in it...
so when I got the blue screen and then managed to boot into CWM recovery, all I had to do was flash a ROM, I knew that, but my internal sd card was wiped clean and I couldn't access it in my PC when I plugged the phone. then I just figured I should get another sd and put MIUI in it and then stick in the phone LOL it's working fine now, thanks a lot

Glad to hear that you problem was resolved as well.

I have the same problem with my U8800. And I follow your direction and I can log in to the Miui rom, but it has the notification "Blank SD card or unsupported file system" and ask me to format the SD card. But when I format the SD card, it change into the blue screen again in the next reboot time. What should I do.

OK, you should copy the SD Card contents to your computer, format it with FAT32, copy the folders back and then try to boot in Recovery and reinstall Miui again.

I also had such a problem. And as in your situation, my solution was to copy those files into 'image' folder. Though, blue-screen-trouble is still actual and we have to blame only huawei-guys
Is your IMEI allright? after some of theese operations, I had mine nulled.

I beg to differ - for me when I had a blue screen yesterday - tried everything other than reflash. In the end I pushed a clockworkmod backup to the internal sd card via adb, did a restore and problem solved.

my phone wont boot anymore

Hi,
i used this guide to unroot my g1
everything went fine. untill i got to this step:
4. Start phone in bootloader. [Hold camera+power button]
at the grey screen, it said "not allow" and went back to the screen with the 3 colors. now nothing happens.
boot with home+power doesnt work anymore, same with normal power on (it only displays the Tcom splash screen.
is there anything i can do?
Can you still get into bootloader (camera+power)?
yes,
i've got on my sd card the DREAIMG-RC29 (extractet of course)
but it wont load. i've got some other folders and stuff on the sd card, could this be the problem? i've got no adapter for my PC, so i can't format the sd card.
thx for trying to help me
When you say extracted, what excatly do you mean. You should have the DREAIMG.nbh file in the root of your sdcard (so not inside any folders). Is that the way you have it?
exactly, it is in the root directory

Reformat the SD card for FAT32, re-extract that file back to the root directory of the SD and try again. If the same problem exist, re-download the file from here (T-Mobile G1 ONLY!)
ok, i dont really know how, but i was able to access home+power again.
like jamesrdorn said, i reformated the SD card and extractet the DREAIMG to the root directory. I switched it on with camera+power -> still the same error. just for fun i rebooted with phone+menu+power and pressed home during the restart and - tada - it booted into the recovery menu. A friend of mine then told me i should install this mod and it worked.
thanks all of you for your help

SOS Urgent Help needed!

Hi all! Need urgent assistance here as i've messed up again.. Installed dexter's motoblur rom but initial loading just struck at the boot animation. Tried to go to nandroid but couldnt enter (yellow triange with a cross). Tried reformatting sdcard and pasting back the openrecovery folder and openrecovery.zip does not work. Tried with multiple sdcards. I was thinking if the system went into the ext3 partition to look for the files instead of the fat32 one... but couldnt find a way to paste the files into ext3 partition. Any suggestions?
Thank you very much!!!!

Probably you forgot to wipe data/cache after you flashed motoblur? Some random ideas roughly in the order I would try them:
Double check that the FAT partition is first and bootable?
Double check that the SD card has no logical partitions
Reformat the entire SD card as FAT, primary, bootable put on OR
If that still doesn't work, try Motorola recovery (gallery+shutter while powering on, when you see the triangle screen press volume+shutter to get menu, select "wipe data/factory reset" and "wipe cache partition"--also note Motorola recovery uses gallery not shutter to select menu options)
If that still doesn't work I'd flash SBF
Looks like I have to do the SBF method. How do i get started with it?
Thanks a lot
I have bell sbf I will upload it to you if can.
Sent from my XT720 using XDA Premium App
i have this file:
UK_STR_U2_01.1E.0_SIGNED_UCASHLSTABB1B4DEMA039.0R_USASHLSTBRTINT_P029_A014_HWp3_1FF.sbf

Hmm. You tried factory reset in Motorola recovery and it still wouldn't boot? One last thing would be to remove the sd card and see if you can boot.
Here's reverendkjr's tutorial on SBF flashing:

I think that one is fine. I shortened the filenames in my copies, though. I have a US XT720 and I've used both of these successfully (you can compare the md5sums with your file to verify we're talking about the same file):

082af13d2412e1cc63f8f9e530dad855 US_STR_U2_04.1E.1.sbf
hmm, the UK rom i downloaded gives critical error halfway while flashing. Downloading SEA sbf atm..
Hmm........battery ran out. and after charging for 15 mins, phone ons and bootloader says battery low. and it seems that phone does not charge in bootloader cos it was plugged in when phone hasnt died completely.. any idea how to charge up the battery?

Unfortunately, this is tedious but it works: charge with the battery cover off. Watch it closely. When the phone starts to boot, pull the battery out. Put it back in. It will continue charging without booting immediately. Keep an eye on it. When it starts to boot again, repeat by pulling the battery again. Repeat this for a while (3hrs?) until you believe the battery should be charged enough.
Another option: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892026
yep, Mioze7Ae solution works. It's because the battery doesn't charge up if it's in Recovery Mode. And Recovery Mode eats battery..
lol interesting will try in the morning...4am atm :S
Hmm, if i take out the battery w/o shutting down then phone would still be awake even w/o battery. Then i off and on the switch again and plug the batt in again. Screen is empty now and led is not lighted up. Pressing power button will start recovery again (but batt still low atm). Is that correct?
Thanks
Thanks everyone its up again :d

Is it bricked? Need help u8800

Hello Guys from XDA:
THis is my first post here. First of all: Thank you stockwell, dzo and franco for the great job here of developing!!
My english is not the best one (I'm from germany) but I hope you can understand my problem.
My mobile phone is an Huawei Ideos x5 u8800.
I've seen the [2011-10-31]U8800Pro Android v2.3.5[Official ROM][UPDATE Screenshot] and thought "Cool- Gingerbread...." and I've flashed it.
I've done backups (from Clockworkmod and Titanium Backup and the "image" folder from the partition with the boot.img and recovery.img files in it).
The flashing process finished...wonderfull... and then I've seen it: U8800Pro. Damned.
Now after round about 5 hours I can't reanimate the phone to work When I start it I see the white HUAWEI Logo...and thats it.
So I want to flash the old stock rom "STOCK ROM B138SP04CUSTESTC205D001EsthoniaElisa" - but this failed! I've put the dload folder with the two update files in in onto the sd card. When I start the bootloader (normally the pink screen) the normal firmware update start.
After Step 1/2 the phone says "Update failed". The whole time the LED is blinking red and after "update failed" very fast! I've never seen this before!.
Then I've used the first "OVER_SEAS_GENERAL_VERSION" - the same problem.
BUT I could flash the "U8800Pro Android v2.3.5" from the link a second time (without the red LED)!
A normal start ends up whith a freezing white huawei LOGO or some rebootings with a little vibration and a black screen at startup.
Short sentences:
Flashed the U8800Pro Android v2.3.5 - phone only goes to the white huawei screen at start after finished update process.
Flashing back to B138 or the general version (i think this was B135?) failed with fast blinking red LED light and "updated failed" after unpacking (1/2).
I see the partition where the "image" folder was when I connect the phone to my PC (with an empty dload folder on SDCard).
So now I have no idea what to do and I hope that someone here in this great forum could help me.
Thanks a lot!
suschmania
Do you have CWM?
If you can, try to format system, cache and data from CWM. (You can found in Mount... menu)
Then try to reinstall B138.
i think u could try the following:
(1) boot into bootloader mode (pink screen): "power" + "volume up" + "volumn down"
(2) connect phone to pc, copy the backed-up image folder back to the phone (with an "image" folder in root and backed up files under "image" folder.. should be 4 files: amss.mbn, boot.img, EMMCBOOT.mbn & recovery.img)
(3) remove battery to power off and reinsert battery
(4) flash B138 as usual
if this succeeds, then u have ur U8800 back..
I don't think your phone is bricked.
During the installation of the Stock Roms the recovery.img and boot.img files get replaced/modified and that's why your phone gets stuck at the Huawei logo.
Try the following:
Boot the phone in Bootloader (pink screen) by holding Vol+, Vol- and Power, format the partition with FAT32, create a folder called "image" and copy the following files on there.
EMMCBOOT - http://www.mediafire.com/?lb6ifvgk72iru4a
AMSS.MBN - http://www.mediafire.com/?d6r45q6p5gew59v
Recovery.img - http://www.mediafire.com/?57njygc8oianjac
Boot.img - http://www.mediafire.com/?6d5i0714a7o9z97
Once the files are copied, just disconnect the USB cable and remove the battery. Then boot into Recovery by pressing the Vol+ and Power. If you manage to get into CWM Recovery, then it's all good, you can install a custom Rom like Oxygen (
https://sourceforge.net/projects/u8800oxygen/files/ ) by selecting "install zip from SD Card" option.
You'll probably have to use the MOUNT functions within the Recovery to transfer the Oxygen.zip file to your root folder of the SD Card.
Me too did the same thing .... tried both iamelton and katu2006 method but no go.......

BUt I tried to go into the recovery mode and had no chance at all.
I'll test this...
Maybe the phone will update after the "real" 2.3.3 version is out for us?
Orat this procedure.
in the dload method is an integrated Battery check? Because I've never seen a red led flushing Maybe there is the problem that the updated failed because the akku is not insertet or too low ( I think the akku is not charging anymore- the mobile won't become warm.
Edit: After formatting and loading the 4 files into the image folder: I can't reach the recovery Menü. The phone starts with the white Huawei Logo and after ~5 seconds it vibrates, go black..and is restarting...
I flashed the U8800Pro update to my regular U8800 last night. I just wanted to see what would happen and yep the phone ended up a little broken. But after some time I did manage to fix it.. sort of.
As above, flash the U8800+ F ROM to the phone. This will downgrade things and you'll find that you can then use recovery. I did also have another problem that the /data partition was oddly missing from the device so I had to recreate it <DANGEROUS> using Minitool Partition Wizard (with phone on pink bootloader screen). Also I had to make the FAT32 partition for internal SD as well.
The result is that my phone is 95% fully working. The Huawei/IDEOS logo is now missing and replaced with a green background with a red and blue rectangles and load_oemlogo is unable to reprogram this. Custom ROMs work absolutely fine but all U8800 original ROMs fail to install. Also graphics are missing when installing original roms - only the pink progress bar is showing.
So yeah... DON'T FLASH THE U8800+ ROM TO YOUR REGULAR U8800.
I knew it wouldn't work. I'm crazy enough to try it so I could see if it can be reversed.

I am trying my stock ROM back....

U8800 bricked and no access to pink screen

I have a U8800 Pro with the original 2.2.2 kernel.
I attempted today to update to 2.3.5 so that then I could take it to the newly released 4.0.3.
All these were done with the official Huwaei ROMs. (U8800%2B Android 2.3 V100R001C00B572G001)
I did a factory restore before I started the whole process just to be on the safe side as well.
Unfortunately during the second step of the process after the reboot the phone remains in the "Unpacking - Update Failed" state
I cannot go into the pink screen mode. I tried with removing the battery as well but even though I attempt to boot with Volume + power key pressed it still goes straight to the update process and the obvious error. Obviously I cannot access the internal SD card from my PC (does not show up on dmesg) so I can at least delete the dload directory
Is there a way to bypass this problem and go to pink screen mode ?
If I use an external SD card and put a ROM on that will it boot from that or it will still first access the internal SD card ?
Thanks is advance for any answers.
Try to put dload folder on a external sd and update again. I guess you cant access recovery right?
Try to turn on the phone in pink screen (Download Mode) without the SD CARD, I use that trick when the same problem attack my phone.

Yeah it worked.
Used an external SD card to do the update and to phone booted without any trouble.
It seems the update file on the internal SD card must have been corrupted or not transferred correctly.
Still the inability to access to pink screen was quite scary. Serves me right for using the internal storage for something like this.
OK

[Q] bricked, cant recover on pink screen, not recognising update.app?

Hi guys, getting kinda desperate here, appreciate any advice.
I've been mucking around with my phone trying to install some of the mod roms from here, but always get stuck in an endless reboot sequence or on the 'huawei' screen. Havent been able to get CM10.1 or 7 installed and working.
I have followed the instructions, including the partition size mod....
This is not my current issue, however, just the background.I was at a loss so after giving up last night I tried to copy b162 to my sd card, but was read only for some reason - showed up as CD rom on my PC.
Out of desperation I formatted the sd (in CWM) and tried again, but couldnt even get CWM, only pink or blue screen.
Pink screen I tried copied recover.img to the one available drive on my PC (windows), no luck. It copies over, but will not enter CWM with vol up + power.
Went out and bought a card reader this AM, have tried to install the stock roms B162 and B136.
I can copy the .app files to the SD card (root/dload), but my phone when going to pink screen does not start updating, just stays in pink screen.
Have formatted the card in windows (fat32) checked for errors etc. Does anyone know if the 'allocation file unit' during formatting makes a difference? I have left it as standard at 32kb....
The current rom boots as far as the animated huawei (splashing stars thing) logo then cycles.
Cant get shell access with ADB on pink or blue screen.
Never really used linux but Im willing to try anything to save my phone.
I have some experience with microcontrollers and think there are some jtag pads on the back of the phone that might be useful but am reluctant to try this as I fear I will make things worse....
Many thanks in advance!
To add ? volume label important?
Just managed to get into the stock recovery screen, selected 'apply update from sdcard and got reply 'failed to mount /sdcard (no such file or directory).
I cant swap out the recovery.img file in the purple screen, I dont have acess to that part of the memory from purple screen, perhaps wrong version of android on previous install?
Was wondering if volume label should be something? I just left it blank, and have tried again as 'sdcard' still no luck.
Thanks again....
OK I did a factory reset from within the stock recovery sftward (couldnt even get this before) and it will now boot heh.
Oh well, thanks for listening! Will have another crack at aurora now =)
