How To Search XDA Forums
XDA Forum Rule 1.
1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Firstly you need to identify what you need to find.
Aww, that ROM I like. The download link doesn't work. I need to find a working link.
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Now, enter the ROM thread you wish to search & click this button -->
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now enter your search term -->
Wow, there is a few results. What next?
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Now XDA has done a little of the work for you, you have to do the rest.
IF after exhausting every post that is returned from the search you cannot find the answer. Use the same technique that you just learn't to search the General & Q&A forums.
This time the button looks a little different. Don't let that put you off. Click this one instead -->
But Wait, I'm using the XDA App!
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Have no fear, you don't think XDA would have an app that wouldn't let you adhere to the rules, surely not.
Just open your XDA App, hit this -->
then this -->
If your lucky enough to have a hardware "Search" button, you can hit that too.
Now if you still don't find what you are looking for. You may post.
Failure to adhere to the XDA Forum Rules may lead to a Warning and/or Infraction.

When you've got the thread open in the app, press Menu, then Browser, then follow the instructions exactly as described above.
Or, follow the steps in the first post referring to searching with the xda app and just be more specific with your search terms.

Greetings troll.
Seriously nice thread though. Personally it's the people who post how can I do X, when the past 2-3 pages have been discussing just that who get my goat.
Good thread. An alternative is to use the Search feature in my sig. It uses Google and, for me, is easier.
what radio is recommended for this rom?
the best thread!!
you should also explane how to search multywords 'cause if you serach
for download mirror the engine will search for "download" and "mirror" instead the exact phrase.
Will do, cheers for the feedback.
I've tried searching for "rmt_storage" etc, but it returns zero hits. But I've certainly seen this in posts on the forum. But the search automatically gets rid of the "_" so I think this is why it won't find anything. If I search rmt or storage I don't find "rmt_storage" either.
Is there a way to escape special characters to be searched for?
Try wrapping your search in "" (quotation marks).
The search doesn't always work though. Not to no fault of anything or anyone but the search terms. Sometimes it's hard to go through 20 pages of posts. One thing that would help is if people actually used the tags the right way.
HAHA! I'll bite; where the hell did the search button go?
XDA has stopped paying the unicorns that power the search system, once we broker a new deal, it will be back.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thanks.

well if your going to post a link with a different url to what's displayed and then taunt the guy who has asked a perfectly civil question that just makes the lot of you (Lady garden cleansing product that is dispensed in bags)....
I need help about this problem too, this issue was discussed previosly but now there is no link about this. Can anyone help us?
this is a major bugbear to me too and although if i search for it i'll get loads of threads to trawal though the chances are none of them will come back with THE definitive answer.
Can't we have a sticky thread with original questions and just the correct answer thats been confirmed posts in them
I've not been long a member of this site but I tell you, it's almost like being a member of the Royal British Legion! Or, walking into the Slaughtered Lamb! (movie reference, not WoW reference!)
It's rare that I come across a community that constantly belittles people for asking questions. Yes, I get frustrated seeing new threads that people have started in relation to another thread (why not ask that in the thread you've just quoted?), however, i've just searched "delay with ringing" on the Diamond thread to no real satisfaction. It led me to a thread that quoted another thread that never answered the question.
I agree that we shouldn't keep answering OP's that have been answered weeks, maybe months before, but linking the search page takes the piss! Especially knowing when it takes one person who has had a similar problem, or has read the page with the solution on it to reply with either the answer or the link to the post (not the thread) with the answer on it.
I'd probably feel more welcome on an Apple forum.....
Since we are putting cool pics on a lame thread let me do this:

I agree with these sentiments entirely. IMHO you would be hard pressed to find a less welcoming set of forums for a newcomer anywhere else on the internet than these ones. Sometimes it is like a little boy's club for nerds - sniggering at the new boy who does not know as much as them, and has dared to ask a question that they think is "obvious".
Linking to the search engine rather than the answer is a funny little trick to them, at the new boy's expense. It gives them a good giggle and makes them feel superior. And as often as not when you try the search they say you should you come up with nothing.
Oops not made myself popular now with the in-crowd - will be eating my school dinners by myself from now on.

You really should be putting questions like this in the appropriate Thread, not create a new Thread. If you're talking about Liberated with Froyo ROM, put the question there. Same goes for the next question you asked.

It technically doesn't matter. If someone were to search the forum the result would be the same, they'd get the answer they were looking for. Ultimately, that is what a forum is for: exchange of information. As long as we can search it successfully, that is the end goal.
You're just being too damn nit picky and I don't have the patience for it!

Nit picky, patience????? I guess that means you have the patience to wait for someone to finally read your Thread (which is totally misplaced) and answer your question. Wait all you want. As of this hour, I'm the only one that has replied. And all I was trying to do is help your feeble mind get an answer to your stupid question. EXCUSE ME for trying to help. Oh by the way, people usually search THREADs, not the whole damn site, DUDE! Oh BTW, you never mentioned which ROM you were asking about since you didn't add the question in any particula thread. Did you expect people to answer your question for all ROMS in the ARIA secdtion? DUH!

Why not? I actually already found my answer though! Thanks for the help DUDE!
And, I don't post in the General section because most of the dimwits in the GENERAL section have not a friggen clue what they're talking about. 95% of them probably don't even know about the Gratia ROM being ported to our device.
I stand corrected on the ROM question; you did state it, my mistake.
Still not sure why you didn't post your question in the Gratia Thread that was already started; namely: "HTC Sense UI Froyo ROM for HTC Aria aka Liberty aka Gratia"; fits beautifully there. And, I was really only trying to help you get an answer quicker; no nit picky'ing intended.
I would ask for this Thread you guys rate the rom you are using or another favorite rom you might not be using on a scale of 1-10. What the pros and cons are of that rom. And please include what doesn't work for any prospective rom and we'll assume everything else does work. and if you want to add a small summary of why you like the rom so much or perhaps what you dont like about the rom you may include either of those as well. Thanks and let the games begin. Screen shots are welcome as well. And please stick to HTC Glacier Roms.
Please moderator stop all the extra posts Like this kill this thread. kill it with fire. Use search there are like ten threads like this. It makes the forums hard to navigate!

do not lie to us and tell us you searched when you didn't. You will quickly lose the ability to gain help. Knowing you "said" one thing and knowing you "did" another and relying on us is whacky.
And even on the front page there is a "what rom are you rocking thread" and a "What ROM are you currently running" thread. The SAME information that you are looking to obtain is held within those scrolls. Do not be afraid to read.

Keep in mind that if every time someone pointed a newbie in the right direction, we'd do this as a full time job. Searching *IS* easy and alot of things are already documented on the forums. If you're frustrated at not being taken by the hand to find information you require, well we're frustrated at having to repeat the same thing 60 times per day to people who do not bother searching a bit for themselves.

Understandable, but keep in mind you're probably the 10 billionth person to ask this in the forum either by starting a thread, hijacking another thread or by spamming it in different threads/across forums. People are getting irritable at reading these questions as noone knows when. You can just take a look at Sammobile's twitter to see if they release the ROM... There are also threads already discussing this and all signs point towards this month, no clue when.

There is never an excuse for creating a new thread when one on the same topic exists on the first page of a forum - in this case there are almost always 2-3 ICS threads on the first page of General.

What is it used for and how does it relate to XDA?
Are you trying to provide a "how to"? (If so, then you probably need to add a lot more info about this!)

Well, that look like a classical sales thread, that probably should be banned. So if this is a way, to make/offer the same device for "free", then it is missing all essential of information to get this thing to work. So my question stands:
What is the point of this thread?
a) To promote the XTC-clip or
b) To help you build your own?

Well the schematics was made public, so that we didnt had to buy the expensive solution but to make our own xtc-clip. btw this acts as a whitecard when used with goldcard for htc devices to achieved Security unlock.

I can't speak for the O.P., but in that link he/she posted, there's full details (including the microcontroller firmware, and the posted BOM/schematic) to make your own XTC-clip. Judging from the BOM, it should be do-able for under $30 USD.

Cool, but then he should re-post the firmware links here, with instructions on how to install and use the thing. That is kind of the definition of a "How To"!
Thanks for the scheme
why ?
time + pain = better to get one xtc than spent time to build one which will cost you same money and most time .... no bad to try ...

Yeah, that's right! Only pro's here! In fact you should close this incredibly informative thread, because of the high risk for Noobs hijacking it! Perhaps I'll help you out by reporting it as spam!?

I feel stupider just from reading the comments...if people did some research before posting, they would know why this is a big deal. And a post is not spam because you don't understand what it is...
^^ I was being ironic. There's a sign for that, ( ؟ ) but do we really always need smilies to convey irony? But my point is, if you gonna label a post as "How to" then you're going to get a bunch of newbies and also pro's, and they all expect to find all the relevant info in such a post, in order to be able to make that "whatever-it-is" work... That's all, and I understand perfectly well why this device is useful.
Thanks
