hi dudes can you help?
My desire hd stucks on htc logo when i start it... and also when i go to recovery mode to install a new ROM (when pressed power button and volume down key) it shows me a mobile picture with red triangle with "!" and can't go further... What should i do, so i install i new Android ROM... Thankyou for your replies
How exactly did this happen in the first place?
Secondly I think you should try to flash a new recovery from fastboot. I have forgot how to do it but that is the way forward. Somebody should reply with details on that

That is the stock recovery. Either you don't have a custom recovery installed or you haven't rooted & removed S-OFF.
Use [TOOL] Advanced Ace Hack Kit (UPDATED 25-10-2011) to root & flash a custom recovery.
how do i install it... as i came up to conclusion - i should copy the zip file into my mobile and then install it from recovery... but as i said when i start the recovery mode, it stucks on a mobile pic with red exclamation in triangle and here, i am stuck, so as further as i know i should flash it from PC... Can you explain me completly what should i do with this hack kit... Thanks for your replies
Or, how about you go to the Development Section, read through the guides, including the one I provided a link to and learn how to do it. Its not rocket science. If after reading through it you still think its too hard, sadly Custom ROMs aren't for you.

Download the hack it, and extract it if you need to. There will be a file called the 'Effen Manual' which you need to read before you do anything. It gives you instructions for Windows, OSX and Linux, so pick the relevant one.
It's really quite simply, just follow the guide, which involves running a script from the cmd or terminal, and wait for it to do its thing. Takes about 6-10 minutes on average.
Hope it goes well
hmm i read the effen manual done everything it says but one thing i cant do... Can't turn on the debugging mode because android does not start... Is there any other way to turn the debugging mode on?

figured it all out.. thanks!
Means you don't have a recovery. Need to most likely run the 2.1 ruu and reroot with eris one click. Something went wrong and it didn't flash Ra recovery
i hope your ok buddy, try it again but check if the root me.zip file is in your sd card first before you go into recovery,if its their it should of flashed the recovery.

thank you. i googled and found instructions for flashing amon ra recovery. but it fails in the first couple steps. when it tells me to run "su" from the shell command it tells me permission denied. the phone is not rooted yet, so i can not allow superuser from the phone as most of my googling has suggested.
what now?
the rootme.zip is on the sd card.
did u reboot after you pressed the button? and then did u turn it off and go to recovery?

That is the splash screen of the stock recovery.
It means that flashing of Amon_RA never happened.
[ For goofs, you can prove it is a stock recovery by pressing Vol-up+End again when that image is on the screen. (If you were rooting a Cupcake Eris, the key sequence would be Home+End) ]
As others have pointed out, the primary reason that OneClick fails is that the person using it fails to perform a normal reboot in between use of the app and cold-booting into the recovery. Just reboot your phone once normally, shut it down, and then cold-boot to recovery.
- install app
- run app
- shut down phone normally
- reboot phone normally
- shut down normally
- cold boot into recovery
One more thing; you know that this is not a development topic, yes?

THIS WILL BE USING THE CM 7.1 ROM. IT WORKS WITH OTHER ROMS TOO. JUST FOLLOW SAME PROCEDURE WITH YOUR ROM.
INTRODUCTION AND WARNINGS:
If you have an Evo 4g updated to android 2.3.5 with hboot 2.18.0001 and your wifi always randomly disconnects this guide is for you! The reason the server disconnects is because your router could be incompatible with your HTC phone. If it's just because of some wifi problems and some easy fixes could be made, I would go with that. But for those who have the same problem, not only will you get a cool Cyanogenmod 7.1 look... you'll be able to play PL with wifi.
I'll try to make it as easy to understand as possible... as I'm not good with this stuff either and it took time to understand the guides. Actually I used several guides but I'll kind of combine them.
This guide is for flashing Cyanogenmod 7.1 and what to do before. I am not responsible if there are any problems with your device. Use this guide at your own risk, although there's 99.99999% chance everything will go right if you follow the guide.
PART ONE:
First you'll want to install this file, you need winrar. Just unzip onto desktop so it's easier. You won't actually be using the tool but the root folder. Read the xda first post first though... http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...75&postcount=1
Here's link to download if you've read the post:
http://goo-inside.me/apps/frigid/
Then you'll want to go to www.htcdev.com.
You'll have to register there and use a real email address.
After you register login and click unlock boot loader. Where there's a scroll-down, choose "all other supported models"
Then click get started, the site will guide you through the next steps. Remember, this could void your warranty, I'm pretty sure there is a way to undo this all but remember do this at your own risk.
Tips: If you can't navigate to the right place remember to type "cd [insert name of root folder]"
To get the address, just go to root folder and click copy address at the top. (Right click on where it shows what folder you're in)
After you have successfully unlocked your boot loader you are ready for part 2.
PART TWO:
Enter fast boot on your phone again.
If you closed your command prompt, (which is fine) open it again.
Download this file and save it:
http://files.androidspin.com/downlo...ECOVERY/&file=recovery-RA-supersonic-v2.3.img
The file should appear in downloads.
Move the file into your folder titled root.
If the file is not named recovery rename it to that.
In your command prompt go the the root folder address like you did in part one.
Once you've successfully entered the "root" folder, type this in and hit enter:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
(Remember your phone should be connected to your computer with usb debugging on, with disk drive on, and it should be in fast boot)
Once the prompt finishes the command, go back to main boot loader screen. Then use the volume keys to go down to select recovery.
Press the power button to select recovery.
Once the recovery boots on your phone, select use the volume keys to select/highlight USB MS then press the power button.
Take this zip (don't unzip it) and place it into your sd card (just the root, not in any folders).
Zip: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/...nic-signed.zip
Press the power button to exit USB MS.
Now go back to main screen of recovery.
Highlight/select the choice flash zip from sd card and press the power button.
Select/highlight the zip you put in your sd card and press the power button to flash.
Press the power button again to confirm.
Once it's done flashing reboot your phone.
If your phone goes into boot loop (keeps rebooting at cyanogen logo thing) then go to your recovery again and select wipe and select wipe all data/factory reset.
OPTIONAL PART 2.5:
If you're looking for Google apps you might want to flash this too, same thing with the Cyanogen ROM, flash it same way.

Ok... I guess...
so does using that htc super tool folder instead of android sdx not wipe everything while unlocking? Or does it still do a factory reset when you unlock?
Trying to figure out what I'm missing here. I have step one all finished. On step two I'm doing the part that says:
"Once you've successfully entered the "root" folder, type this in and hit enter:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
I have the USB Debugging on and Disk Drive on, and the phone in Fast Boot. When I type the "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" and hit enter it says Waiting for device. Should it say waiting in the command prompt area? Even with that saying waiting, if I use volume down and pick recovery, the screen shows the green circle and downloading logo, then I get the red exclamation screen. What's messing things up? I have the instructions followed exactly up to this point.

Tried doing that and it goes right to the red exclamation screen instead of the green first. The instruction say to have it in disk drive, so not sure what to do.

This is my first time trying to do anything to my phone. What exactly does the recovery step I'm doing do? It is saving all my personal data on the phone? I could care less if the phone gets wiped. I have all my contacts in Gmail and re-installing apps take like 5 minutes, so wondering if I could just skip it?
This rooting thing is getting more and more confusing. I'm pretty good computer wise, but reading on this site to try and root this phone, I find topics which are like 100+pages long, and the topic I find link to other topics and it keeps going on and on, and not sure what to do after a while. This topic has gotten me closer to finally doing it then any other. Hopefully I can get it to work fully.
Tried disk drive on and off a couple times and still getting stuck on the red exclamation.

Recovery just puts a base place where you can flash roms and stuff.
And if you get a bootloop on CM7.1 yes you will have to wipe all.
As for the recovery flash problem, try putting it on charge only and usb debugging. Then power off phone or just take out battery and reboot into bootloader. Go into fastboot again and try to flash recovery on again. Then try it.
Did you rename the recovery img to recovery? Or if it's not saved as recovery.img rename it to that.
I have it named recovery like it's supposed to be. Still get the green screen then the red exclamation mark.
What should happen when you first go into the fast boot? The reason I ask that is, when it first goes into the fast boot screen it takes a second or so to do it's thing. I see some text going on the screen real quick, and from what I can read of the text I see something about no image and can't read much else, then it is ready to use the volume up and down to make selections. Is that normal, the text part and all about no image? My phone works fine, just can get the steps in this tutorial to work.

When you go to the bootloader it scans for a PC36IMG.zip file. Normally if you were s-off that's how you would flash a recovery. Since your s-on unlocked the only thing that can be flashed in PC36IMG.zip format is a file signed by HTC like a RUU
Sent from my swiper using XDA App
I got a chance to see some of the names of the missing files it lists when going into boot load. The PC36IMG.zip is one of them that says no image. So guessing that file isn't even there at all. I searched for a PC36IMG.zip file and put it in there and got more then I have seeme before on that screen. I had a blue progress meter on the right side. When it got done it said something about being too old and unsuccessful.
Also, I tried starting all over, even going into the htcdev site again. When I did that all the step worked, but when it's supposed to get to the screen where it tells you it will wipe your phone, that screen never comes up. Now I'm wondering if I can just start all the way over. Can I go into my phone and of I select factory reset, will it make the phone a totally stock phone again and change anything I might have changed? Not that I'm sure I have even changed anything at all to this point.
Removed the batter over and over till I could see the message that comes up very quickly when fast book first starts up. It reads:
Loading...[PC36DIAG.ZIP]
No Image!!!
Loading...[PC36DIAG.NBH]
No Image!!! or Wrong Image!!!
Loading...[PC36IMG.ZIP]
No Image!!!
Loading...[PC36IMG.NBH]

it shouldnt find a PC36IMG.zip file or the other. Only files in that can be flashed in that format is radios hboots splash screen RUUs recoveries. You shouldnt go around just flashing random things in the bootloader you can end up bricking your phone
I want to update my HTC using ROM Manager. I (somehow) found a still working version for Android 1.6. It can flash Clockworkmod Recovery but when I press 'Download Rom' a screen pops up and says that I have to update ROM Manager. However since I'm still using Android 1.6 on my Tattoo I can't update ROM Manager anymore (right now I`m using ROM Manager 4.4.0.7 and ROM Manager 5.x needs Android 2.2 atleast). When I choose 'Download from SD-card', I can choose the .zip file (which I've placed in the root folder), select the pre-installation settings but then (right before the actual installation I guess) the phone shuts down and a phone and an exclamation mark appears and it stays that way (I left it like that for about 15 minutes and no response what so ever). Then I have to remove the battery to put it back on and it just starts up like nothing ever happened.
My phone is rooted (I used Universal Androot) and ROM Manager has SU access.
Before someone comes along saying Gold card or do it manually: my almost 10 year old computer won't make USB connection with the phone, however I can access all the files on my phone using a FTP server.
Can anyone help me?
If you need more info about my phone just ask!
How sure are you that you have clockwork mod recovery??
Did you ever boot in to recovery. (power off your phone and press home + power button)
When you boot in to recovery if you see a traingle with phone and exclamation mark, you have stock recovery.
"an exclamation mark appears and it stays that way"
As per above comment, you don't have CWM recovery.

No, I have never have been in to recovery en when I tried to with my phone off and pressing the home and powerbutton the exclamation mark came back.
I'll try some stuff out. Thanks!
EDIT: It's installing right now!
Thanks a lot!
Hi to everyone.
I have an Ideos x5 u8800, and i have the official 2.3.5 b522 gingerbread update.
I have already rooted my phone without any kind of problems, but i cannot install the clockworkmod recovery by any method that i ve seen in here and over the internet.
The problem that i am having with this is that i follow the procedures shown on this site.
1) i download the recovery img
2) i unzip it
3) i power off the device, and turn it on using volume+ plus volume- plus power buttons all long pressed together until pink screen appears
but after pink screen, i connect the phone to computer via usb, but computer wont recognize the phone. i mean i cannot access the phone from my pc during the pink screen to paste the recovery image on the phone.
I have install Hi Siute lattes version, i have use it do check for drivers, and it says that is ok. I have also went to the device manager and it says all my drivers are up to date.
i am using windows 7 64 bit, i don t know if have some kind of conflict. I know that i am probably doing something wrong, but don t know what, so if you very kindly can help me i would be eternal grateful, and if cannot help me i thank you anyway.

I thank you for the help Qqqxxxzzz, but i think you miss understood me, i aplologize if you don t.
You see my problem is exactly on step 3 of those instruction.
i mean, i cannot use the clockworkmod recovery image 5.5.0.4.
i will try to explain: i power on my phone using vol+ plus vol- plus the power button, and i do get my pink screen.
my problem is: in order to install the clockworkmod i need to connect the phone to the pc while my phone is on the pink screen. and this is exactly what i can t do. i mean, i have the pink screen, but when i plug my phone into the pc while on the pink screen, the pc wont recognize or connect to the phone.
so to summarize: basically i cannot follow step 3 of those instructions because i don t have the recovery 5.5.0.4 installed, because i cannot install it.
i assume, and i am sorry if i m wrong, that the recovery image that is on the tutorial you passed me is the clockworkmod recovery.
i hope you understand correctly the problem i have and if you can help me i thank you, i you cannot i thank you anyway.
Anyway, if no one can help me i am going to quit and let my phone the way it is now, because i don t wanna end up bricking my phone and my english is not the best so i understand that is difficult for people to help me.
i thank you anyway.
Seriously, you must do a litle research before posting new threads with same questions. This way the forum bloats with same stuff unswered again and again.
It' s known(mentionded a lot of times in different threads on the forum), that huawei has blocked the pink screen functionality after B518 release. So, after this release the bootoader is locked and you can't no more see the special partitions on pc when you're on pink screen mode. There' s also a specific thread which explains how to get the unlocked pink screen back. Search for "Get back your pink screen" thread on developement section(this maybe easy be the 10th time I post this info).

You can't install CWM via pink screen in B522 and later releases.
1. Root you phone
2. Download 5.5.0.4 recovery
3. Use root explorer/es file explorer/any other file manager which can get root access
4. Move recovery.img to /.cust_backup/image
5. reboot

Apply only if you have upgraded your phone to B522 or newer. You may have a custom ROM on top, but the base has to be B522 or newer.
Tested by myself on B522, B526. Reported working on B528.
The steps required to get back pink/blue screen USB:
Automatic flashable zip is pretty much fail proof, but I have warned you.
Automatic method (recommended):
Download update-B518-bootloader.zip from MediaFire.- done
Save it to the root of your SD Card.-done
Start the phone in recovery mode (recommended recovery is 5.5.0.4)- cannot do, because i cannot install recovery 5.5.0.4
Select "install zip from sdcard"
Select "chooze zip from sdcard"
Select the zip you downloaded before.
Select yes.
Reboot and enjoy!
The only way to install recovery 5.5.0.4, is to power on phone with vol+, vol- and power buttom, and when i do that, i get the pink screen but no usb on pc, so i cannot install (recommended recovery is 5.5.0.4), because to do that i need the usb.
ok. i am done trying and i am going to quit.
thank you for the help.
you may close this tread if you wish.

Yes, you are totally right, and i am very sorry.
i have already install using all of yours instructions and everything is fine now, and working great.

I will pay more attention next time before i start asking questions in here.
best regards to all of you.
First of all appologies if I started another thread on this topic. I am very green with Android and am now unable to get past my latest screwup! I had CMod 10 on my device but it kept freezing in the browser. I also had Skrillax recovery on it. I wanted to revert back to OTA stock Rom so got the following ROM from this Forum Post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1816560
Acer_A500_0.000.00_041.121.01_COM_GEN1: ftp://94.23.233.147/Tablets/A500/Ace...5_78277167.zip
I decrypted it, extracted the update.zip and applied it to my tablet as instructed in the post. Upon completion it restarts and goes into this loop at the Silver android screen! I tried to go into Recovery and get the dead Android with the red Exclamation mark. I can reapply the same update.zip file and it seems to go through things again but every time I get the same end result looping silver android loop. HELP! please! If I try to use another stock update file it only get me to the dead android guy with red exclamation mark. I have tried to put this into APX mode but it does not want to go there at all.
Is there anybody out there that can take a little pity on a fool like me to get this thing back up again?
I don't care about the data at this point and which version I get back to. I also do not have my CPUID and can't seem to get to it. Thanks in advance to anyone who could point me in the right direction or better yet walk me through this.
Dead android guy is what I get after root the tab and try to get to stock recovery WITHOUT unlocking the bootloader

Ok so now can get in APX mode but it says debugging is not on, I can't get in to turn it on? Is there a way to get the bootloader back to the Skrillax version via update.zip file? I will keep reading these posts but still can't seem to get APX mode right.

First of all a million thanks to Happy who pointed me in the right direction! I appreciate the help buddy! I was finally able to get my device working by following the first post by manually installing Thors v1.7.3 bootloader. Once I got the bootloader back I just reinstalled one of the custom ROMS and voila! back in operation. Most appreciative...
The link again is the following and you do not have to have debug mode on to do the manual flash.
