I read somewhere that the messaging/Conversations app and the contacts app have been ported from the Xperia Mini for the X8? Can anyone provide links? Thanks
anyone....?
AFAIK they haven't been ported. Only the X10 contacts app has been ported. Search for it in the Themes & Apps section.
Thanks for replying. Then how come rom's like gingercrutz have them?

It doesn't.
Maybe you are talking about the XGin messaging app, well, that is just themed.

I think he's talking about sms app
Revision 7.5:
-Android version 2.3.7
-Back button ends call (which is broken)
-Some Xperia Mini Pro apps ported
(SMS, Calendar, etc...)

Yeah, same thing. But it doesn't show any sms app screenshot in GC, only in XGin.

I'm also waiting for the beta to get stable before I try. After all we all know that 2.1 is the end of story for X10 while X10 is capable of running 2.3 or even higher.
One big thumbs up for the XDA Developers.

I've made a list for the 2.1.A.0.435 junk apps. I'll post it here when I'm back home.
But the list is for Root Explorer.

That would be most helpful, i have already removed some - using the 'clean' option in flashtool, but i de-selected quite a few from the automatic list as i was a bit unsure!
So... Can somebody explain to us which apps are doing what so we can choose what to remove and what to not remove? Not wisepilot quadrapop etc but the other ones with the confusing names.. Some services for example.
Here are some confusing-but-safe-to-remove apk's:
- CrashSMS (DebugHelper (Service))
- FaceRecognition (the main thing that eats your speed - does not affect Face Detection in Mediascape or Gallery3D)
- LearningClient (Word-Learning for the default keyboards)
- neoreader (New Barcode app)
- OMAClientProvisioning, OmaDatasyncService (Part of the Sony Ericsson Synchronisation)
- PcCompanion (Disables the popup when you connect the USB)
- PicoTts, TtsService (Speech)
- qcsemcservice, SemcCheckin (send crash info)
- ReadyToRun (removes the SMS record)
- SnsContactImageCacheProvider, uWlopProvider (Part of Timescape)
- touchnote (New crappy Note app)
- UserDictionaryProvider (self explanatory)
I hope this helps.
deleted some now i get
force close android keyboard input method. latin has stopped unexpectedly
what shoul i do to fix this now?

It certainly does - thank-you. I would like to ask the following before i remove them (I have backed-up with TB)
1) can i remove all other "sonysync" elements/are there any apps that use the same icon (as you view them in Titanium Back-up) that i should not remove!!??
2) will removing this mean i cannot use any voice activated features?
3) SMS record?
4) Will this prevent any other keyboards learning words?
Thanks again.

did you do a full back-up? if so restore it as a simple fix.
have you re-booted since removing them - reboot helps
I find that once you have un-installed system apps you find an entry in menu/applications/manage applications. some remnants of the un-installed files (data and caches) click on them and select uninstall - reboot once finished. I don't know if this is causing your problem - or if it help, it's just my (limited) experience!!
Your other option is... if you can get this far - long press on any text entry field and select the "input method" option.. then select a different keyboard..
or you can reinstall the keyboard from here..

Thanks, anyway for you to narrow down what other things I need?
EDIT:
I successfully got the Timescape widget on, but I can't install the plug ins and other stuff (cannot parse thing error). Any help in getting it to work would be awesome. Photo widget looks great.
im on cm7 and they install fine
May be a 2.1 thing. I'll be rooting to 2.2 eventually but right now I'm on 2.1.

CAN RUN?????
Install
Eventstream.apk
and other plugins apks
With timescapespline.apk
to get proper timescape
Did all that. (Oh btw, now on 2.2). If I try to put the widget on the home I get FC. If I open it up I can see all the sections, but no content shows up. If I try to add social networks it FC.
EDIT: Timescape seems to work now, but not the widget.

Try this.
edit build.prop file by changing this line...
ro.product.manufacturer - whatever value
To
ro.product.manufacturer - Sony Ericsson
Reboot. It should work.

Guys,
I am using Xperia Arc and when I install other launcher like ADW launcher but I was unable to find the timescape widget, I can only find it in SE Home Launcher.
Anyone notice that and any solution?
I am starting the list of what I am sure we can remove without messing up our phones - if you know more, feel free to pitch in!

Yes, using titanium backup also ensures removing the associated data of those system applications.

Well I don't know if it matters - as long as you've got any of the mentioned apps/widgets etc. installed you can remove them without turning your phone into a slimmed down brick
But my particular phone is an International/Global LT15i
Updating the first post wil be handy, so you don't have to search in this thread
also maybe handy to know what you can't remove.
You can also remove: HDMI
and don't remove "infinite view" this will break the contact view.
