[KITCHEN][10-22-11] MOD My Phone - Thunderbolt Android Development

Calling this a kitchen, but call it what you will.. Modifier, Downloader, Installer
MOD My phone comes packaged with ThunderStick Notifier which has been distributed with ThunderStick ROMs as a easy way for users to modify there devices.
Well MOD My Phone is capable of much more than just modifying devices with ThunderStick ROMS
It will modify any device.
Kind of like a kitchen it uses a predefined set of settings and a little user input to make changes to your device.
Even better MOD My Phone now has the ability to allow developers to list there own modifications for download directly from the MOD My Phone app.
Currently this app only works with Windows PC's but with further development one day could grow past that limitation.
Download from here and let me know what you think.

You need to have adb installed properly for this to work directly with your phone. If you just want to download or summit mods then just ignore the adb messages.

Show us your homescreens!!!

Well plenty people on this forum now have the DHDs, so go ahead and post your homescreens.
A good OP always goes first, but i haven't received my hunk of technology yet.
Instructions for noobs:
Step 1: Enable USB Debugging
On your Desire HD, go to Settings, then Applications, and then Development. Check the checkbox for "USB debugging."
Step 2: Download the Android SDK
There's plenty of tutorials out there so i won't go into detail explaining here, but this should get you started
Download: http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Install: http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing.html
Note: you'll need to have Java installed on your machine.
Step 3: Run DDMS
You'll need to find the SDK folder which you downloaded. From here go into tools and launch DDMS. Select your handset from the menu on the left. Then, click CTRL-S on your keyboard. This will bring up the "Device Screen Capture" interface. From here, a static image is captured from what is appearing on your handset. You can save the image and then refresh to your heart's content to grab updated or different screenshots from your phone.
And that's it folks! What you waiting for? Gogogogo!!!
Why not use "ShootMe" ???

Ha Ha I was thinking that !!!!
Because normally you need to get the picture to PC anyway (at least i do, that means DDMS is the more comfortable solution anyway).

The every day Newbie will have many issues and questions about this procedure than anyone or any thread (and I do smell a new thread coming out of this one already ) can answer
Cheers,

Your friendly Mod
It depends what is easier, downloading the SDK and take a picture via DDMS, or rooting the phone and taking the picture via PicMe/ShootMe/whatever app .
at the end of the day it doesnt matter which method you use, as long as we get some pics in this thread
The easiest method of taking snaps of your homescreens (and the phone in general) I've found so far is by installing Webkey (requires root. Works with the VISIONary soft root app (found in Market)). What the app basically does is that it allows you to control your phone through a browser (lets you send SMS and I've actually successfully played a game on it). If you activate .png view the quality is very decent and you can just right click the image and save the image directly to your desktop. Quick, easy and painless.
Not to waste this post. Here're the homescreens of my old phone (made with Webkey):

Samsung Galaxy S trick:Change brightness with a simple swype!!!

Yes it works!
You can change the brightness from the home screen without change any option or install any application.
Press on the notification bar (not open it) and after shows up with the date, just swype left or right to adjust the brightness!!!
Here is my video on youtube to see how it works:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFABj8LvD3g
Welcome to 2010 lol. (sorry!).
I think the correct way to do it is just to hold an area on the notification bar (not swype). left is less bright, right is more bright. (at least on latest fws it works like this).
This has been known since éclair. You must have auto brightness off for it to work though.
Thanks for sharing anyway, original thread has probably been lost in the folds. I'm sure there are plenty of new sgs users on here all the time. It is still one of the best smartphones on the market today, and now it's dirt cheap.

Although i agree that it might be handy for new users... There is always room for irony or as in this case sarcasm i believe. I rated this find a single facepalm.

Ipad-like mutlitask gestures on lg optimus one

Today I stumbled upon a cool app called GMD Gesture Control, it basically allows you to define global gestures that can be used anywhere and that can do any kind of action, kinda like the "pinch" gesture found in the ipad that closes the current app. The gestures can be defined with custom directions, actions or number of fingers. So you can for example swipe with two fingers down from the top edge of the screen for the device to go to sleep if you have an unreliable sleep button.
Here's the steps needed to be taken to use this app on lg optimus one:
1- Get the app, you can use the lite version for now which disables itself when the mobile is locked and needs to be re enabled, but it gives you a good idea of how the app works:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...dvb2Rtb29kZHJvaWQuZ2VzdHVyZWNvbnRyb2xkZW1vIl0.
2- Launch the app for the first time, it will show an error that the device is not recognized, here you have to override the default settings to support our mobile, you can do this by tapping the "advanced" tab at the far right, then you will find 2 options at the end of the list, enable both by tapping the "on" button. Then from the "Override multitouch device detection" list choose "touch_mcs6000", then choose from the "override touch events parser detection" list the option "HC_DEFAULT".
3- Restart the service from the main "General" tab, please note that I couldn't get our mobile to support more than 2 fingers gestures, keep that in mind when defining custom gestures or choose "single touch gestures" option in the default gestures tab.
Hope that you all find this useful, this app is extremely fun to use to switch between apps quickly, I use a swipe from the left-right bottom corner to switch between previous/next app. You can really create any kind of creative gesture as you like.
This app is incompatible with your MobiFone LGE LG-P500.

Notification Sound?

This may be a stupid question, but on the M8 I could add sounds into the notification folder to use for texts and such. Now, the 10 is not allowing it "read only" it says.
Also, no addition button similar to the ringtones.
Is there something I'm overlooking? Or for a simple sound file move am I going to have to root?
Sent from my HTC6545LVW using XDA-Developers mobile app
Create a folder anywhere (internal or external) named Notifications, and reboot.
To be clear, you don't have to reboot, but that's the fastest way for the phone to repopulate the notification list with the new sounds.
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
Wow that was simple. Thank you very much! I've always just put the file in system/media/audio/notificatons and it's worked before. Not this time.
Appreciate it!

I had no problems without root setting up custom notifications on the 10. just copied them over to the folder like you said. don't know why says read only, did you set it by accident in a explorer app?
Peace....
it still doesnt work for me....am I missing something?

No it surprised me too. I'm not sure what was going on. I did the recommendation above but dropped the file in the default Notifications folder instead of making a new one. Worked just fine then.
