Hey guys,
So I got both the SGS2 and the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
I want to know if I can charge the SGS2 with the 10.1's charger.
The output voltage is 5V on both of them. But the Ampere on the SGS2's charger is 0.7A while on the Tab's it's 2A. Should that matter?
Can I charge the SGS2 with the Tab's charger?
thanks
It doesn't matter. Charges just fine.

Any luck with charging the tab with an universal usb charger? If I try that on my 10.1 tab I only get a red cross over the battery status symbol.

As I know the pins on Samsungs USB cabel are not standard. So you need an adapter.
Search for "Samsung Galaxy Tab - USB/USB Adapter" on web. On German amazon adapter is about 2 EUR.

From my experience it has to at least be 2A to charge the tab properly.

So the wall sends out 1000 ma and USB sends 500 ma.
What about webtop? Anyone know?

Now that would be interesting. 500,000 volts from a USB. Needs a flux capacitor.

Hey thanks! I already have a dock though.
In my post I asked what the charging output was for the HD dock.
Sent from my Atrix using XDA App
USB 2 is 500ma, USB 3 is 900ma, Moto charger has 850ma rating on it. If you have a USB 3.0 port you can use you'll get enough power from that. I use the 3.0 on my laptop at work, and it charges fine.
How can we find out the charging output of the multimedia dock?

Do the differences matter much? Just one takes longer to charge then the other?

Yes one charges faster that's it. For heavy users like myself, getting the most juice as conveniently as possible is a plus.
I also like to charge my phone on the dock and keep my usb cable in the truck for playing music. I only want to do so if I can find out what the dock is putting out. When I need juice I need it as quickly as possible.

If your only getting 500mA your phone will take hours to charge and then only if your not running wifi, Bluetooth or gps. Use any of those and plugging it in will just prolong discharge but not actually charge it. With just GPS running I pull over 700mA. I'm really tempted to put a female end with resistors (to fool the phone into thinking it’s on AC power or it'll never pull more than 500mA) on a split wire usb mini cable for charging at work.
I finally used my brain and checked my chargers. Here's the specs
Standard charger: 850mA
HD multimedia dock: 1.2A

I think the dock is rated higher to power the usb ports. I bet it still only feeds 500 to the phone for charging. Looks like its back to the cable for charging!

seems like till now there's no way to disable this
Just an update. I think the dock charges as fast as the wall power adapter. Almost certain.

This is interesting as I have issues getting my Atrix to charge in the car dock. I have the ATT boxed car dock with ecomoto dual USB. It simply will not charge in the dock. Connected direct to the car charger and it's super fast to charge. Maybe the ecomoto isn't capable of charging the phone in the car dock.

Is using a different wall charger harmful? I was using my old palm pre wall charger for the first few days and it is rated at 1000mA.

same here, up to 3-4 hours, which is quite much
The charge time is quite ridiculous

You can use a different charger - the one that comes with the Evo is 1.0A, not the 750ma that comes with the Nexus. Still - the Nexus is way too slow, but this helps.
I hope this is not the case. I just purchased the Nexsus S last night and i like guick charging while in the car. The iPhone 4 I have been using charges very quick. I am using a 2.1 AMP car charger. Right now I'm at 82% and charging so will see how long it takes to get 100%

Check whether your phone is charging in AC mode or USB mode when charging with the car charger. If it is slow, I suspect it's charging in USB mode.
I have Galaxy Tab 7. Will that charge faster since the Tab has a bigger battery and hence a more powerful charger?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
I believe the SGT 7 charger is a 5v charger, which is the same as the Nexsus S charger with 0.7A.

Buy a battery charger. I like the one from Samsung. There are also many aftermarket options.
So lovely to come home and pop in a fresh battery.

Might do that. Saw on eBay, 2 1500mah batteries and charger for 9.99. Only thing is they take forever to ship from Hong Kong.

Actually, i just took a look at my Galaxy Tab 7" charger and the output is 5V 2.0A. It's not the same amperage as the Nexus S, but higher. Should definitely charge faster then.
I use a 1 amp Pre cylinder charger.
No idea how long it takes; so far have only charged overnight with the occasional USB cable top-up.
Not sure if I'd try something pushing 2A though...
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
Figured I'd ask to see if that'd be OK before I did some damage.
Also could I do the reverse, charge my S3 with the n10 charger??
Thanks!!

Yes you can. They both use a standard Micro USB charger. Any other previous blackberry or android phone you may have lying round will also work
Sure you can.. But it might charge slowly if the power adapter isn't able to output 2A @ 5v

I'm using my S3 charger now on my N10. Charge time is the same.
I've bought galaxy note 3 N9000 and received the 3.0 usb cable without the charger mains so I need to buy one and I want to know if the other galaxy s3, note2 charger mains will give the input/output power voltage that note 3 need or not!
thanks

Thanks guys I know it would work but would it charge fast as 3.0 usb speed not 2.0
Any 5.3V, 2A adapter will work. I also use an HP TouchPad charger to charge my Note 3 at full speed, just as fast as the Samsung charger. As for the cable, as long as it can handle 2A it doesn't matter if you use 2.0 or 3.0 - the 3.0 charging advantage only affects charging on PC.

Hey all,
The stock charger that I got with my S5 (Australian) says it's a 2A charger.
But when I plug it into the wall, it only charges at 1A.
Also happens when I use my 2A car charger.
Anyone else experience this issue?
Possibly only the cable can handle 1A have you tried a different usb cable?

Using the same app, used it on the S4 and now S5 and got the same result. About 1-1.2 amps
Ive had the same phones aswell and with the original usb 2.0 and usb 3.0 cables I get a consistant 1800mah through galaxy charging current app
Sent from my SM-G900I using Tapatalk
Stock rom and kernel will only charge at 1200ma max if the screen is on. It goes up to 1800ma with the screen off. The charge rate is still dependent upon having a good or a bad cable though
