Launcher Pro is by far my favorite launcher application but I have noticed a few bugs with it on my Vibrant lately. I know it's Launcher Pro causing them because my device doesn't duplicate them when running stock TouchWiz or ADW Launcher.
Bug #1 - When activating GPS it causes the entire phone to freeze and sometimes restart.
Bug #2 - Sometimes apps will not launch at all until I reset my device. If I click on a app it closes will open and close within 1 second.
Has anyone else experienced these bugs?
Been using LP for a few weeks now and haven't noticed either of those bus. In fact, LP has given me no problems at all.
I've had LauncherPro installed since the day I purchased my phone in mid-July. Experienced none of these bugs. I don't think it's LP-related on your end.
The dialer also does not connect to an in call dialer. If you get a phone call and exit out of the dialer, you cannot get back to that dialer. When you click your dialer application, it gives you a fresh dialer acting like no one is connected.

If you pull down on the notification bar, and then press on the green phone icon, it will take you back to your call that is already in progress.
I'm using launcher pro and I've also experienced both of the issues mentioned in the OP. I've been using LP almost since day one, so I can't say whether or not they're LP bugs specifically. The app launching issue I've noticed more with Handcent than any other. On the GPS issue, I don't have any of the "fixes" applied, so it's not that. I'm thinking about reloading a completely stock ROM to see if that might fix it.

I understand this, but the dialer application should work. Thanks for the tip though.

i like launcher pro, but it makes my vibrant noticeable slower than the tw launcher.
LP since July 15th... absolutely no issues.
what other things have you done to the phone? Rom? Lag Fix? Etc?

I'm still on the stock rom. No lag fixes, gps fixes, etc. It's rooted, but that's about it.

I have also had these happen but just with lp. Since the last update I haven't experienced them again. At least for now.

I don't notice any bugs with LP but I mostly use the stock launcher. Just not a fan of the stock android look...
I do notice one bug in ADW launcher though which I use from time to time and that's the scrolling of the home screens. Sometimes I'll try to flick to the next screen and all it'll do is bounce and stay on the same screen. I had this some problem on the mytouch slide so I know it's not a vibrant issue.
YES! I AM EXPERIENCE CONTINUOUS REBOOTS!
My Epic 2.1.1 rooted with 'one-click' method seemed fine for a day. But once I installed LauncherPro, the device stared to reboot continously every 30sec.
I had to go into recovery mode and wipe/factory reset!
Any ideas?
^ did you try and install a system app? Only way I can see that possible... would have absolutely nothing to do with LP.
My launcher pro is working great. I bought the pro version though, thought I might add that launcher was updated today the 3rd.

Yeah, I am LOVING the new twitter widget.. only going to get better.
I've had no problems with LP, but I have with ADW. When opening the tray it keeps, for the lack of better words rebooting the tray. It will show the zoom in effect like 3-5 times before it loads the tray.
My phone is rebooting every 30sec once again! DAMN!
After the first bout, I re-rooted using one-click method, installed supseruser and titaniumbackup, then proceeded to restore all new app+data...
I stayed away from LP, but I went with ADW.Launcher. As far as system apps, I dont believe I installed anything like this; what would be an example of a system app?
I was good for one day, and then this morning, it seemed fine but the batt was very low. After plugging in the charger.... a few min later, this reboot cycle began!
I am on my 3rd recovery wipe/factory reset now.
Anyone else experience this or have recommendations?
I have a bug where it doesn't size live wallpapers properly when changing to landscape mode and the keeps the off size when rotating back to portrait. A dealbreaker for me since I love my lw's

It happened to me last night but I skipped to the next track and it stayed open.
I use MixZing. Most of the time there's no problem. However, with any of the launchers, there are a lot of Force Close incidences when the phone is in Landscape mode. I actually shut off auto-rotate because of this. It is worst with Launcher Pro. Is your phone in landscape mode when this happens?
No. its not a force close I dont think because there is no fc msg...but the app fails ever since I installed a new battery img to show the percent...plz help

i'm using player pro..no fc's here. don't use the stock music player but i'd recommend any of the ones listed in this thread.
A day or so after I got my Atrix (the 24th) it began having this weird lockscreen issue where I press the power button and it wont actually turn the screen on until 5-25 seconds later... this doesn't happen everytime I unlock the device but often enough to be concerning and something I don't want to live with. As a dev all I can think of is too many apps running and trying to get them all out of the way before launching.
Should I try a different lockscreen?
Any suggestions?
Thanks,

I think some people reported it had something to do with Launcher Pro. Did you install this app by any chance?
I did. Infact that was one of the first I installed... should I go back to the stock launcher or use ada?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I think somebody mentioned it has something to do with launcher pro and that it tries to access the external SD memory card. I think they removed the SD card and then LP worked. You could try both and look if it helps until the developer hopefully fixes that.
I don't use launcher pro or any launcher app and I have the same issue.

I downloaded WidgetLocker and remember reading a section about the "5 second rule" in the settings/tutorial. Don't remember all the details but something about hitting the home button within 5 secs of locking the screen. Sorry I'm short on details.

I rebooted my phone (it had been running for 5 days) and seemed to have fixed the problem for now. Attic users may just have to reboot more often.

My wife is having the same issue. She has rebooted several times and it fixes it for a bit, but it eventually comes back. She has never had launcher pro installed or any replacement launcher.
Having this same problem every now and again with ADW free.
I'm having the same problem but am not using any lockscreen widgets or separate launcher. Just stock. The only widgets I've added are beautiful widgets. If I hit the power button twice quickly the screen seems to come on quicker. Such a pain.
Ok I am having a weird issue with my new Atrix.
I am having icons of stuff I downloaded and added to the home screens disappear randomly.
Everything was fine all day, then I just went into my phone and noticed 4 icons on one screen were missing. The apps are still installed, just gone off the home screen. Not all of them on that screen dissappeared, just some of them.
Has anyone else had this happen to them? If so, what did you do to fix it?
I've had my widgets disappear but not shortcuts. This usually only happens after a crash and random reboot. I flash different roms alot though so don't know if this is a stock problem.

Which launcher do you use? It used to happen to me on Go launcher. If I exited it from setting it would restart fine. Hasn't happened in a long time though.

I'm actually just running the stock launcher the Atrix comes with.
I would love to have the stock GB launcher like what comes on the Nexus S. But I don't think you can just download that from the market.
Go launcher is way better, I suggest you try it. ADW and Launcher pro also have free versions which are much better than motoblur.
Ive had this happen as well. My snes emulator was missing. My phone actually uninstalled it. Hadto reinstall through titanium backup.

Ya mine is happening on the screen one right from center. I am curious, the next time it happens I am going to move them to another screen and see if it still does it.
It doesn't happen all the time, just every once in awhile, but annoying just the same.
Just curious but are you removing your sd card or have these apps on the external sd card?

ya for me it's the same 3 icons in the same place.
Today I moved all my stuff to a different home screen to see what would happen, and it still did the same thing.
I don't know if this is a GB issue or not. My Atrix already had GB on it when I got it.
I wonder if trying a different launcher would help. I was hoping to avoid using a different run cause I am fine with the stock launcher. I am not sure what launcher to try out. I used to use LauncherPro when I still had a Captivate cause I think TouchWiz looks like it was designed by a 10 year old. But LP seems a bit dated, hasn't been updated in awhile and it just too plain.
I was looking at Go Launcher, that seems like a popular one which offers alot.
Go Launcher used to do this to me all the time. figured out it was happening when the screen was being redrawn going from landscape to portrait mode. each time I would switch modes some icons would be gone and some would come back. theyve fixed this bug finally though in the last couple of versions...
I think when you update an app there's a chance it does this. Im sure there's more to the story but I am stock and its doing as you described but on the left screen from center

I had this problem and it happened fairly often on reboots/power on. Mine wouldnt even show in the app drawer. Tracked it down to apps that were either installed in the Media Area (internal sd card) or External sd card. It usually happened if i started messing with the phone before everything fully loaded. If i waited a little they would eventually show up, sometimes.
If the problem apps are in the Media try moving them back and see if it still happens. I had a lot of apps in Media and external so I ended up doing a back up and then reformatting internal/external storage, then restoring. I haven't had the problem since, but i did move to GB and custom rom about 2 weeks afterwards, so that could have helped also.
I had a similar issue after unlocking my phone and installing a custom kernel. Revert to a lower version of pudding (unlock sbf file) and restore original kernel if u have one

Ok some news to report.
I exchanged my Atrix for another one, and set up a new Motoblur account when I first booted the new phone.
Now for some reason my icons are not disappearing. It's been a day so far and everything is fine.
I don't now if it was the new phone or the new Motoblur account which made the difference. I am thinking it might be the new phone though.
If it starts happening again I'll post another reply.

Look for Samsung Push Service in your apps list and un-install it!
If you use Samsung Apps, this program is automatically installed and stays active, won't let your phone go to sleep!

Instead of trying to uninstall apps, installing Magic Locker allows you to set power saving and this could be very helpful. In my case it doubled the battery life and I now have around 60% left in the evening.
Hope this helps.

There are a number of Apps you can install that will show running applications ~ SystemPanel is one such app.
It comes in two variant ~ Paid & Free.
The free version is okay for looking at what your apps are doing but it does not offer the same level of service that the paid version gives and in this case you do need the paid version.
Full version ($2.99) adds app manager (installer/uninstaller with multi-version APK archival), and long-term application resource monitor to solve app-related battery life problems.
However, for finding out what apps are using your battery you can do this with your phone's built-in settings.
Just navigate to Settings/Applications/Running Services and look at what apps are currently running.
If you don't need a particular app running simply tap on it and select 'Stop'.
Job done that is one app no longer running in the background.
Another option is to again go to Settings/Applications/Battery Usage.
Here you not only see the graph at the top but also a list of main running apps (note not all are shown).
Tap the graph at the top and it shows you various parameters i.e. when the screen was on and when the device was awake. Basically you need both to be the same. If the phone's screen was off but it remained awake you then have an app running constantly in the background.
So, press the back button and look at the list of apps showing. To terminate an app simply tap on it and this time select 'Force Close'.
Spend a little time now and again popping over to these two places (Running Services & Battery Usage) and you should be able to identify what app or apps are eating your battery.

In my case I chose MIUI but I think any theme should work as well. After installation it asked if I wanted to activate the battery saving mode which I accepted to check its performance as I was having battery drain as well and needed a solution.
I was happily surprised the next day. I hope all these issues are fixed by Samsung in ICS.
