Hi, I have a rooted G2 running on Cyanogenmod 7.1.0 with the Go Launcher. I just tried downloading the Speaktoit Assistant for my phone, and when I tried using it, the voice never spoke back to me. So I tried checking my TTS setting, and I have several that I've tried, and none of them work. I have the stock Pico TTS, IVONA TTS HQ, and SVOX Classic TTS.
When I try to click "Listen to an example" the sample speech doesn't even work. I tried clicking "Install Voice Data" but that doesn't do anything. If anybody has this same problem, or any ideas for fixes, please help! Thanks in advance!
Bump..anyone?

hopeful mid-day bump?
No idea, my tts works on cm
7.1. Google Bev talks to me all the time. Does everything else work? Are there any other functional lapses?

Google Bev? My maps seem to work just fine. And when I do regular voice commands, they work. My google translate also works just fine too. I'm not sure what else uses the tts, but from the voice assistants, they don't work. I've tried iris, speaktoit, and even just tried the testing thing under the settings.

Do you have eSpeak TTS installed? This is the one that most voice assistants use.
I have that, ivona, and even svox. None of them work unfortunately.

I installed the eSpeak TTS and found that the software does not work in my hTC Desire Z with CM7.2 ROM. However, both SVOX and PICO TTS work fine on my phone.

Does anyone have this problem? I Can't use the goggle voice search. I FLASHED the latest stock ota rooted detoxed rom and then used the % battery flash which worked. I don't use the voice feature that often so i don't know when it broke. I tried the repair permissions but that didn't work. I get a force close msg.

I'm on ginger blur if it helps.
When I press the mic button nothing happens... Anyone else having this issue?
On my gf's atrix (stock) it uses that motorola voice recognition one. Can it because I don't have that? Can that be changed in swype settings? (i didn't see the option to change)

I ran into this same issue. The solution was to download vlingo from the market. Works flawlessly now.

I dont like Vlingo anywhere close to Google. I was watching this thread hoping someone could present a solution for restoring Google voice commands to the Atrix.?
So I've done quite a bit of research on this issue.
It seems that the version of Swype that comes preinstalled on the Atrix has Vlingo setup as it's voice recognition engine - and there is no way to change this. Upon installing GingerBlur, Vlingo is removed as bloatware and you're left with a dysfunctional voice recognition button.
So, you have two options:
- Reinstall Vlingo
- Uninstall Swype, sign up for the Swype beta and install that instead
Doing the latter will give you a much better version of Swype, and it's voice recognition engine is the built in Google one.
In order to do so, first sign up for the Swype beta from beta.swype.com. When you do and finish activating and such, you'll be sent an email with a link to the download URL to visit on your phone.
Before you can install it however you must uninstall the current Swype. MOTOROLA doesn't make this easy - you have to manually remove the files.
The two files you're targeting are /system/app/Swype.apk and /System/lib/libSwypecore.so. I used Root Explorer to move them over to the external SD card in case things didn't work out.
Once they're gone, you can go ahead and install the new Swype Beta from the installer that you have downloaded (after logging in with the account you made)

really good first post !
I installed IVONA along with the british voice AMY. I downloaded the voice files. When I try to read aloud in google voice I get absolutely no sound.
Anyone got it working? It may be related to 4.2.1, maybe not. If you got it working, how did you do it?
Figured it out, just had to reboot the nexus

Rooted stock d803. I've got US-English installed & an trying to get the voice to work from any screen. When I choose the selection it takes me to the training screen, but won't register my voice. Anyone have issues like this? I know the Mic works because when I push the Mic button, it works without a hitch.
I checked if the app needs to be updated, but there's nothing available under the play store.
I did have this working before (an OTA update caused a bootloop) so I know it should be available.

Just tried. No joy. Still shows voice feedback as greyed out.
This is a known and annoying problem with S-Voice that Samsung apparently isn't inclined to fix. Had it on my S4 too.
Go to Settings - Accessibility. Scroll down to Services. Turn off anything that is turned on.
Alternative if you need Accessibility Services: Use Google's voice system.
