Well seems the name was changed to the Galaxy Nexus [sounds so much better to me]. The official specs look nice. Some may same only a 5MP camera? The rest od the specs fully make up for it. As its due in November, if Sprint should be getting it, I should say. Thoughts?

Not sure if sprint will get it. It's only going to support LTE and HSPA+, so IF sprint gets it, it would be a 3g only model.
cant say galaxy nexus doesn't roll but i wish it comes to sprint need to replace my evo for that gorgeous screen and dual core
Looks tempting enough to move over to Verizon when it comes out. Really nice new features.
I would love for Sprint to get it. Let it be an early LTE phone. I don't need Wimax, since they never brought it to where I live.

I wouldn't actually mind it being 3g as i can wait for LTE and pay less as WIMAX is barely usable.
sprint wont get it...stupid wimax
Sprint wont get it guys. They're marketing it as having 4G. To keep up with the features of ICS. So Sprint is screwed out of this one!
Meh, sprint is supposed to have LTE in 2012 so it'll probably get there eventually. Or the earth will blow up, either way I don't care.

If they could just do what verizon did with the zoom and issue it out in November as a 3g only phone (LTE version) and then upgrade them when LTE became available. That would be the best. Don't hold it back from us just because your LTE network isn't ready yet.

good point, that would be nice
I want the begining of the youtube video as a bootanimation! That would be fing sweet!
i think, like the nexus s 4g, a carrier (verizon) will have exclusivity on it for a bit and then released to the mass over a period of time. makes perfect sense considering verizon will get a LTE version and with sprint rolling out LTE in the first half of 2012, thats when sprints galaxy nexus should pop up.

Nexus One from Google Coming to Sprint; Availability Date Announced Soon
Nexus One(TM) is planned for the Sprint Mobile Broadband Network with twice the network coverage of AT&T and ten times the network coverage of T-Mobile, both by square miles; Expands Sprint's Android(TM) portfolio
OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Mar 17, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Nexus One, the first wireless phone sold through Google(TM)'s web store, is planned for Sprint's 3G Mobile Broadband Network. Sprint (NYSE:S) will announce pricing and an exact availability date soon. Nexus One will benefit from Sprint's 3G network with twice the coverage of AT&T and 10 times the coverage of T-Mobile, both based on square miles.1
Sprint currently has America's largest voice calling area of any carrier reaching more than 307 million people in the U.S., Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands with a Sprint phone and plan that includes roaming. PC World recently said no one has a more reliable network than Sprint in a 13 city 3G performance test.2 Customers can check the quality of network coverage with street level mapping at sprint.com/coverage.
"Nexus One is a powerful device that belongs on a powerful network. This is another step in our continued partnership of innovation with Google," said Fared Adib, Sprint vice president of product development. "Sprint customers already have the option of two amazing Android devices with Samsung Moment(TM) and HTC Hero(TM). It is a natural fit for us to add Nexus One to the list of choices available for Sprint customers who want the best value in wireless with the best in Android."

NICE FIND !!! Now let the deliberation begin....... N1 or Supersonic hmmmm
It says it'll be on 3g not 4g....
good find im torn between that and the supersonic atleast if the supersonic falls through i can always get the N1! thanks for sharing the article gives me something to look foward to ...not that i dont love my hero or anything
Thats cool, but now that the supersonic is coming there is no way I would downgrade to a N1. Thats just me though.
That is indeed very exciting. The N1 is a very very very nice phone.
JIZZ IN MY PANTS. am getting it
whichever comes out first will be what i get. supersonic is bad and all but i love the nexus. not to mention the incredible Dev support on the nexus. i live in ky so i could care less about 4g haha. man today has been a good cell phone day
Wow, decisions decisions. Dont know which I'd prefer, the Nexus One or Supersonic.
- 4g would be great but I doubt it'll be available in my area for a while. AND, although I love sense UI, it has obviously kept my Sprint Hero at ver. 1.5. I'm not happy about that.
- N1 is a Google phone so it'll receive all updates as soon as they come out. Plus, I like the noise cancelling mic.

I'll agree with you on that one... except that we'll be in the same boat as we are with the GSM Hero...
Nexus CDMA will probably not be compatible with all the Nexus GSM ROMs etc without extra work.
Not a huge deal... better to be that close to the first N1 so we can port their stuff than to have some random crazy phone no one has been developing for.
Also, being able to root more easily would be nice.

Yes but by doing this Google is essentially giving CDMA more attention/work. It seems like the phone manufacturers where doing hacks(it is fact for the hero) to get CDMA to work. CDMA has been supported since 1.6 but now it seems like Google is fully acknowledging it.
ONLY 2 MONTHS after I got the hero. I wonder if it will have a nice subsidized price?
I hated my Hero up until a 2.1 rom I put on there.....I'm interested in a faster phone to remind me of my iPhone (LOL). I will get whichever is cheapest

It had better. Too broke for a $500 price point.
If that was the case, at least it would make the N1/Supersonic decision easy.
the nexus will be my next upgrade come late this summer then.
this news sucks... only because it makes the decision harder for me Either way, I can't do anything until October when my full rebate kicks in. I will never pay full price for one of these things!

Same rumor running amok, but baseless rumors aside, would it be that surprising that a Verizon Nexus S will take advantage of a network which Veriz. is about to push hard (LTE/"4G")? Will Samsung's processors be optimized by February for different network's "4G"?
It's entirely possible, even understandable.
This could be true, but I bet Verizon will want Google to plaster their logo on it and give it some "features"(bloatware) only available on Verizon. Also, there is no way Samsung would ever have that much time to optimize a new radio in 2 months without them ****ing up:
"Dear Samsung, my 4g radio keeps going out please fix it!"
Fix? Oh just use 3g, you now have a 3g enabled device.
Just an example that you can't rush things like that. Unless they have been working real closely with Samsung to deliver a 4g enabled Nexus S. A Nexus S sounds a little more realistic but a 4g Nexus S sounds pretty much unimaginable. Notice how Samsung didn't even put the HSPA+ on this one, you really think they are going to make their second flagship device not have 4g and make a new edition that does the some minor changes(like an iPhone)?

And max out on 10, if lucky. Vibrant maxed at 7.2mbps. G2 hit 10. Nothing higher. And probably won't be.
Even then, holy cow guys. 7.2mbps is super fast. Guess what Verizon does? 1-2. Guess what AT&T does? 1.3~? Guess what Sprint "4g" does? Honestly dunno but I'm assuming 2-6.
T-Mobile was already lightning fast before this whole "4g" talk and I have no complaints. 7.2mbps on my cell phone is fast enough for the next... year. Of course then I'll be buying the Nexus 3.

Its probably the samsung infuse. With a 4.5 inch super amoled plus and 1.2 ghz humming bird processor. Its not a dual core, and still has froyo, so nothing to worry about.

i predict att will announce it's release first, then tmob will undercut their release date by like a week like they did with the first sgs.
that would be so cool if thaT happened! then at least we would have a release date
Actually, I would be happy if the Sg2 was quad band 3g so that I could run ATT or T-mobile 3g. That would make it a better seller.
i just hope tmo doesnt screw the sg2 up like the did the vibrant.
If Tmobile does screw it up, the international version is always available...
technically, at&t customers can already just use the international version of the SGS2 as it is now. so yeah, at&t pretty much has it as is (damn tmo's AWS bands!).

Yeah, but T-Mo's AWS bands make our 3G about 7x faster then AT&T. xD
Hell, it's even faster then Sprint's 4G WiMax, and it comes close to Verizon's 4G LTE network (in the few markets where it hits 8-10mbps, and not 15-17 like in others).

sprint announced lte starting q1 2012
Sprint Will Be Getting The Galaxy Nexus.
With out a doubt Sprint will be getting the new nexus phone as all the main wireless company's in the US will be. There are two models HSPA models will go to T-mobile and AT&T and the LTE models will be on Verizon and Sprint, anyone to think otherwise wouldn't be smart to think sprint has already does this in the past with the Nexus S 4G while it advertised it being the first and only usable NFC Compatible phone but nobody in theory could actually use the NFC feature of the phone until they had updated it to version 2.3.7 and gave u Google Wallet and Google Shopper. Sprint has stated that they are going to be very aggressive setting up LTE in 2012 to try to be on par with Verizon somewhat with 4G so its all makes sense if u really think about it..
Sprint announced LTE for next summer with it's first LTE devices launching next summer as well.

looks like they might release the phone then launch lte? I hope LTE will be unlimited
Samsung/Google already dropped the ball in not releasing this device (or having a press event for it) before the iPhone4S was released. The best they can do now to salvage their product in the public's eye is to release it on as many carriers as possible.

Not a hater I own a NS4G and use Sprint everyday. I was just being honest. So far we know very little about what Sprint will use for their LTE and if there is any compatability with Samsung already has in the phone. I know all of the carriers will get a variant of the Galaxy Nexus but I honestly don't expect any of them to get one until after May of next year and I also think its possible late next year this phone will be advertised like crazy on Sprint and their new LTE.
Poll: Do u think the Sprint Galaxy Nexus will be LTE or Wimax Ready?
Thought this was discussed before but seeing that lte was such a big thing about the GN, i'm willing to put money on it being lte. Especially since sprint will be doing their upgrade to lte, why have such a top of the line, cutting edge phone on a network that's going bye bye?

Also i think the could maybe release it earlier if it didn't have any 4g and just 3g.
is it possible for a phone to be both LTE and WiMax? because if not, and Sprint's actually getting this thing next month, there's no way it'll be an LTE device. Sprint won't have LTE ready for the better part of a year at the earliest.
My gut feel, for the timing of it, is that it won't have any 4g. 6 months ago that would have been crazy, but it wouldn't look as bad now sitting on the shelf next to an iPhone.

Ya i forgot the 3g only option in the poll
Sammy hax the wimax antennas and they got to get rd of them. Wimax has to stay around for a year or better for the people with phones and hotspot cards for home and laptops. Unless there is only one version of the prime, I think they will get there own flavor with wimax.
Got to justify the $10 extra right?
Specs for Galaxy Nexus Prime say LTE and Hspa, no WiMax. Unless they are going to build a special one for sprint 4G will be out of the equation for awhile. Here:
http://www.google.com/nexus/#utm_campaign=us&utm_source=ha-bk&utm_medium=sem&utm_term=+nexus +prime
at first i thought no wimax but it would be stupid to put a lte radio when its going to costs sprint extra money. i am positive they have an inventory of wimax radios they need to get rid of.
It's going to have an LTE radio.
There's no way that they're going to make a special device with Wimax just for Sprint [Now that Sprint has declared Wimax dead] and there's no way that it's not going to have a 4g option [Considering being LTE/HSPA+ capable was part of the presentation]
Being as LTE is right around the corner for Sprint, it's a good selling point too.

That's cool. Sprint never said "Spring 2012"
They said "midyear 2012"
Also, couple of replies to this:
1) If you fully understood Network Vision you would understand why it is going to be very easy for Sprint to reach it's goal of 120 million LTE covered by the end of next year.
2) And really more importantly, if you completely understood Network Vision you would realize that LTE really isn't that important.
The speeds delivered by their 3g coverage, with the roll out of Network Vision, will be more than sufficient enough to not validate wasting the significant battery LTE takes.
I can't see Sprint releasing a phone with a 4g radio that cannot be used on its network now - just does not look good from the marketing standpoint. Therefore, I think Nexus Prime Sprint will have a WiMax radio.

Wouldn't be the first time Sprint releases a phone with features that are planned for future deployment. The EVO 3D comes with their CDMA push to talk technology that's replacing iden. Wouldn't be surprising at all if the Galaxy Nexus included an LTE radio on Sprint's band. I'd really love Sprint's version to be a world phone. Hopefully they can include GSM and HSPA+.

It's highly possible that the Sprint Galaxy Nexus will include EVDO rev B with 1X Advanced. That means it's 3G speeds could reach 10 Mbps with voice and data simultaneously. That wouldn't be so bad.
