Hey all,
I tried searching the forum and Android Market, but I couldn't find an answer to my question.
I'm looking for a multi-protocol chat app that would also include a widget, kinda like the Facebook Chat widget in Sense 3.5, but I'd also like it to support other networks.
I've tried most of the popular apps, like Ebuddy, Nimbuzz, etc. None of them seem to have such a feature. Does anyone know if such an app/widget even exists?

I find it frustrating that the facebook panel doesn't provide chat, opera doesn't support facebook chat via the website. I'm just curious to know what facebook chat programs you guys are using.
Palringo has support for Facebook chat.
Facebook doesn't provide a public API for Facebook chat quite yet. What people have done is reverse engineer something and are using it to enable Facebook chat functionality. I'm sure Sony Ericsson wasn't interested in all that work.
there is an app here to do so: FacebookIM
Thanks guys

I looked into it initially I didn't want to instal NET CF 3.5 but i went ahead and made the jump.
Facebook Chat for Xperia X1
i know this one is old, but just to keep it updated for searching users..
the software is now called FIM (Facebook Instant Messenger) and no longer requires updates to the .net framework that comes with the xperia (2.0)
free download of fim available at http://www.mosko.mobi
Palringo with Facebook support really is the best to me because you don't have to rely on a single app just for FB chat - it's built into a multi-protocol IM client which you would have a good reason to already have running in the background. Why run another program?
With how well the Google services are integrated into Android, I'm surprised Google or someone else hasn't developed a messenger app like the Pre. I mean, it just makes sense. SMS and IMs all in one thread! After Palm showed this off I thought Google would be scrambling to make there own version.
Palm Pre Messaging
Hello,
i know this thread is, welll....pretty dormant BUT its exactly the thing i was looking for all over the web. I was using a PalmPre (frankenpre with webOS 2.0) until i recently changed to a Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 and i dearly miss a unified messenger. With a Plug-In i could activate many different protocols. Is there a Rom out there? an APK? a sms app combined with the messenger? a contacts app that integrates messaging ? Didnt really think any Dev of this? messaging app for SMS/MMS/IM and IM contact integrated into that?
:is it possible to do this
all i wanna do is add a friend ??? is this not a feature
or
am i being dumb
soz if you dont ask you dont get
Cheers people
im i the only one then ... that thinks this should a be a feature
I wasn't able to get the facebook app to search. It doesn't seem to accept the CR key from HD2 keyboard.
so theres no way of searching for contacts to add in the fb app
yea.. you are just going to have to load up your mobile internet browser.. and do it from there..
the windows mobile facebook app just suxx..
better go directly to the original page, even if its some secs slower, its better :/
Don't know what you guys are talking about; I can use search function (by using menu -> search). But I installed latest version of Facebook.
Facebook has many features that can help you in your search for groups, networks, as well as people. One feature you can use is the advanced search option. With this searching option, you can look for anybody, anywhere, and at any time by location, profession, and school among others. This is just one way for you to search for someone on Facebook.
Hi!
first of all i´m new here, but used the "search"... couldn´t find anything.
I´m running teamhacksung´s ICS on i9000.
is there a way i can sync my contacts with facebook? i mean no 3rd party app. i found a script in the nexus s forum, but couldn´t really use that.
regards
Malte
got the same problem and the i found that it is a problem in ics and the best way is a 3rd party app
I'm also searching for an "native" way, but only way i know it's using FriendCaster or HaxSync
Searching on the net some days ago, I found a working method, described here in xda forums (though I don't remember which one). Basically a dev recompiled the GoogleSyncFramework.apk (or wether it's named) to sync with facebook
Have you tried the app that lets you sync with Facebook Some google magic will certainly help you
"HIT THANKS IF I HELPED YOU"
Yeah currently i'm using friendcaster.
I don't like to have different apps for differen't functions, so i'm still looking Form a way Tor geht it into ICS
Regards
Too bad that google just did not implemented it in ICS.. Also too bad that facebook wasn't going to allow adjustments of the contacts via android contacts apk..
at least i thought that this was the problem...
Hey all so with all these new updates for Go SMS, Facebook Messenger, and other apps allowing for SMS/MMS/FB Messenger integration, I wanted to open up a discussion to get your opinions on which app you think is the best and why you think that.
I couldn't find any existing thread so I apologies in advance if you know of one that does exists.
