Xoom 2 models are already announced for this year, but only at or after the official ICS unveiling. Late Oct or Nov.

The timing of the Razr launch was to steal some thunder from its main competition, the Samsung Nexus. Since it necessarily had to precede the Nexus (and ICS) announcement, no ICS-related stuff can be mentioned. That's why the Razr only sported Gingerbread in the unveiling.
Xoom 2 pronouncements from Moto CEO as "appearing this year" are on record, along with specs/pics leak. Moto wouldn't have moved the Xoom to the low-end (Family Ed) without a corresponding high-end to cover the gap.

Link to official announcement, please? Thanks.
Moto CEO mentioned the new toys during Moto's 2Q earnings call. While not an official product announcement, it is straight from the horse's mouth.

Whether these will sport ICS at release is an iffy proposition at this point. I had thought these 1st-tier vendors would have advance access to ICS code, and would hit the ground running upon its unveiling, but that may not be the case. Per Asus' CEO intimations from his AsiaD interview, ICS tabs may not happen until year-end.
BTW, the Asus TF Prime w/ Tegra 3 quad, slated for Nov 9 announcement, is certainly a nice toy, with or without ICS (preferably with). Moto Xoom2 will be hard put to compete.

Will not be released until may-june though in Europe they are taking pre orders now
where did u get this information?
It's releasing this month in portugal, Spain and probably UK (or soon after) from most reports
This is what's so frustrating about these companies other than Apple. Apple announces a product and then is released 10 days later. Motorola and Samsung announce a product and usually takes months to be released. We still don't know when the xoom WiFi will be released, and is all rumors about the galaxy tab 10.1. Do they even have a marketing team?

Anyway hope them can give us a clear info asap
there is going to be a Samsung event next week, 22 March...
Hope there will be good news, for the 8.9 and 10.1 SGT!
Hope it comes out real soon. I can't wait to have a real tablet in my hands. The Ipad 2 is the dissapointment of the year.

Just for giggles...while we're patiently awaiting for our shiny new devices. "Summer" was the word from Sammy regarding release for 8.9 Galaxy Tab. Throw out your guess, and we'll see who hits closest come release time! Hell, I'll even buy ya a beer / coffee / slurpee / milk!
I say July 13th
(and please refrain from "omfg! this is the 10.1 forums!!" They will most likely share one forum, you troll wannabe!)
Definitely after June.

Since Samsung said June 8th for the 10.1, I would imagine that the 8.9 won't be that far off. I am guessing July 8th.

hehehe....thats funny.
They are still a corporation that has to report on quarterly basis. Any date that does not coincide with the end of a quarter is most likely wrong. End of 3rd quarter would coincide with projections for Holiday sales. A really good time to be ready for....the kind of things investors look at.
I'm hoping it will be here by September.
I will say that you are right, next couple of weeks. I think that they will start accepting xooms for mod maybe a week or two before the bionic, which means announced in the next week or two.

Likely it's the Xoom 4g with the LTE part pre-installed and possibly Android 3.2, otherwise identical to the Xoom.

Just accept the defeat. Afraid moto got us all on this one but just count it as a lesson learned
It can't be the Xoom 2. The Tegra 3 chipset isn't out till fall.
The part number is incremental.
Xoom LTE is in Verizon's inventory list. Xoom 2 is not.
How much evidence is necessary to throw a strong doubt on this being the Xoom 2?

A lot more than that? Maybe they are just going to eat the cost, bring in all of the "LTE upgradeable" ones, refurbish and resell them as 3G models, and ship out the newer ones to the poor folks who fell for the LTE roofie trick.
I don't know enough about LTE to say that this is not for Verizon, but isn't AT&T supposed to be getting theirs up and running [ROFLCOPTER] by this fall? Is it necessarily for Verizon?
It's just hard to say that it is anything but. The ruggedized tablet that was rumored didn't seem to have LTE, but that was my first thought. Either way, any LTE tablet that they come out with before providing their own early adopters with the "promised" upgradeability option is really effed.

AT&T is HSPA+, not LTE. The FCC docs show it heading to Verizon.
Seriously, you think the Xoom 2 would just be a minor Xoom revision with the same chipset? (Tegra 2, because again, the Tegra 3 is simply not out for months)
and LTE?
i say we get the lte update either the same week the bionic comes out or the week after
My money is on no LTE upgrade as the device will be obsolete and no one will own it or care. I also see a class action lawsuit again Motorola who will then pay us all 5$.

does this mean it will be RELEASED that day, or the release date will be announced that day?
Since they are not announcing it till the evening I would think the earliest it would be on sale would be the next day. They may just say the dates it will be available with each carrier.
I highly doubt (unfortunately) that it will be released the day of or after. Think the GS3, the announcement was quite a ways, if memory serves, more than a month prior to the release on my carrier, Verizon. I think we may be waiting quite a while after the announcement. Here's hoping I am wrong.
October 24th? I was hoping it would be released by that time :/
my upgrade is up on monday. so do i cave in and get a GS3 (my current phone is 3 years old and barely usable), or wait it out for the note 2?
I know they want to make this a huge deal, but I'm thinking just giving us the dates would be way more hype than a party could create.

If I remember correctly TMO got the GS3 about a week before everybody else got it, so it could mean a possible Halloween release for the Note 2 on TMO based on a Nov 11th date. Would be nice since they released, then canceled the original note all the sudden. Seems like that would be a nice way for TMO to make-up for the mistake of a release of the Note1. Would make for a nice treat, but of course this is just speculation.
dang just release the thing already

Apple just doesn't tell you anything until its time to release, haha.
It works for them though because nothing else uses iOS so you won't buy another device because there were no details about the next phone. I'm already eligible for my upgrade. Had Note 2 details not have leaked I'd have the GS3 by now. Besides if Samsung launched within two weeks of an announcement I'm sure apple would sue for stealing the idea.
Hopefully they'll give some dates when they launch it on the 24th. Should be sooner, but at least now we have a date.
Better if the dates leak earlier. Also if it is our phone and not a new tablet announcement.
US Cellular states that they will have it ship out at the end of Oct, for pre-orders.

Yes, but Sept 25 for over 100 countries. If there was such a massive launch scheduled within 2 days, don’t you think we’d hear something about it? Pricing, which European stores were going to carry it, unboxing videos, hands-on reviews with retail units, etc.
But nothing!
So this makes me think that those countries aren’t getting it soon. And if they are delayed, then you better believe we will be, too.
This blows.
In italy nobody have notice about the new Note...
I did a quick search for Samsung's IFA 2013 announcement's and The Verge noted the GN10.1 2014 Edition was slated for an October release with no specific date provided. Just figures.

According to Samsung Switzerland (on Facebook) we'll be getting it 'mid-october', the LTE version 'end of october'.
For a device that's supposed to be available in three weeks, I find this lack of information very strange.
I don't get why so many tech companies don't get this. This is why Apple is as successful as it is, they don't pull this kind of thing.

Galaxy Note 3 (deservedly) Galaxy Gear (not so deservedly) is taking all the attention it appears. However, they could throw us a bone here and there. I know that they don't expect a lot of sales but still, as I said in another thread, if you want to gain loyal customers, you don't pull this kind of stuff.
Pull what kind of stuff?
They showed a upcoming product, never announced a release date, and have yet to do so (likely because they don't have one yet). I'm not sure what the alternative is other than to just make one up and then miss it?
Personally I'd rather them wait to announce anything until it's a sure bet and I respect them for that.
Nothing pisses me off more than having a release date and it gets missed or there is a shortage.

The LTE 4G version seems to be released on a later stage - probably November. ( For North America )

I agree, a release date that is announced but then not honored is also very annoying.
What I mean is that they announce a device, with some kind of release date (at least an approximate one; at least in some areas) but yet there is very little information (for example the price) out there fore interested customers.
In my opinion, if you announce a device you need to be able to present a release schedule and reccommended retail pricing. Otherwise people are going to get excited about your device at the announcement but then get frustrated during the wait of indeterminate length.
This is the example that I experienced: The Note is announced at the end of august. Weeks later, online stores (where I live) still didn't have it in their catalogue and asking customer support, they said they had no info about it, be it price, release date or even if they will have it, because they were not informed by samsung. When the new iPhones were announced the stores had them in their catalogues on the same day, pricing, release date and all. Today you can buy the new iPhones, which were announced two weeks after the Note, of which there is still no sight.
From a marketing point of view it just doesn't make sense to me. You spend a lot of money and effort announcing your device, trying to get people excited over it. But because people can not act on their excitement (for a long time) all that energy just dissipates, instead of it going into pre-orders/sales.
