Hi
I have an Omnia 7 8GB, unbranded, Mango - forced (with chevron unlocked - haven't tried INTEROP yet), and it worked fine regarding my WiFi until I noticed I couldn't go to internet at work. More details: I have a Huawei HG530 router at home (password secured, MAC address filtering on) and it works like a charm. But at work we have Huawei HG520s router - open - and it worked nice before I updated to Mango, but now it connects to the router, I can see my phone's MAC address in the routers settings, but I cannot go to internet (I tried in all apps - IE, NOW, SurfCube). I mean, it displays connected, full bar etc. but it just won't connect to the web ("no internet connectivity"). I repeat, it worked fine on NoDo.
My stats are as follows:
OS: 7.10.7720.68
FW: 2424.11.8.7
HW: 3.15.0.4
Radio SW: 2424.11.7.2
Radio HW: 0.0.0.800
Bootloader: 5.8.2.5
Chip SOC: 0.36.2.0
P.S.
Is my Mango firmware wrong?
Hmm, I think I've got it. I rebooted the router at work and it didn't work, then I changed the setting of wifi type and I chose "b", not "b/g" and it worked. Funny, seems that this OS an Omnia 7 are very buggy.

Hello...
I had Wifi working perfectly on my MDAIII for a very brief period. But it hasn't worked since!
Only by putting the phone into Bootloader mode and starting from scratch brings it back.
It says that it is connected to my network OK. There is very good signal strength. But it only seems to connect once and never again (Internet Explorer says it can't find the page)
I also can't connect to a Wifi point at my local coffee shop, so I know it's not my equipment.
I have tried fixing the IP address but this doesn't work too.
This is really annoying as that was the main reason for getting the damn phone!
The Wifi unit is a Belkin 54g F5D7630-4A running the latest firmware.
My MDAIII is:
ROM Version: 1.22.00 WWE
ROM Date: 10/22/04
Radio Version: 1.06.00
Protocol Version: 1337.38
ExtROM Version: 1.22.162 WWE
Thank you.
Hi there, I seem to remember a similar problem the first time I tried to connect to my wifi network...
Unfortunately, it not working on a another AP doesn't mean your wifi box is ok, the problem could be with your pda and/or your wifi box.
I'm guessing you've tried going right back to basics? Turn all security on your wifi box off (might want to disconnect any sensitive lan members first!) remove all pda-based wifi settings, get a 'second opinion' machine and fire it all up. If your alternative pc/xda can see the conn, then the problem is in your MDA... Like you needed someone to tell you that!
Assuming your pda sees your wifi box and connects, make sure you tell it to connect to the internet. Then it may be worth checking that your new wifi connection will work if you enable wep (I like running with security on and get twitchy when it's off!) making sure you've copied the key as a txt file to your pda first!
If you can't connect at all, and the second box can, it would seem your device is dead... Sympathies, talk to your supplier...
Hopefully it's not tho! Can you connect to the MDA from within the LAN, maybe even by pinging it? You can get the IP address of your pda by going through start, settings, connections tab, network cards, network adapters tab, wifi adapter (on my XDA that's the 'tiacxwln" one). I have a dhcp server on my network and so use a server-assigned IP address, but either way you'll be able to get the address here. Try to ping it from the second machine. There is a toolkit called VXUtils (http://www.cam.com/windowsce.html) which I find invaluable in all things tcp/ip.
If it's the same problem I had, then all this will work (can connect to local area network) and you will be really frustrated by now! In the end, I seem to remember, it came down to the fact that my pda was set to shared security and the wifi box was set to open... Making sure that they are set to the same authentication method fixed things. After I upgraded roms, I had a similar problem that was resolved by telling it it connected to the work network, soft rebooting, changing that back to internet and soft rebooting again.
HTH, please post any and all results and I'll see if I can help more/at all!
I had better post this in the JAM/Magician forum as well!!!
I have been looking over every bit of info that there is for the socket sdio wlan card.
test this, test that with not much success - until now . I'm runnig the socket sdio card with the sandisk drivers. Now I think the major catch is in the compatibility of software interfaces and the dreaded drivers.
Device info:
ROM version: 1.06.00 WWE
ROM date: 01/06/05
Radio version:1.05.00
Protocol version: 1337.39
ExtROM version: 1.06.110 WWE
Windows Mobile 2003 SE
Version 4.21.1088 (Build 14235.2.0.0)
I'm not planning on upgrading the ROM version either as there are not really that many huge changes in structure.
I run the sandisk drivers (ok, i know they have not been updated since 2003 - but they seem to be stable) - found here http://www.sandisk.com/download/drivers/wifi/setup03.exe and with the socket wifi companion only (version 2.5A) - found here ftp://ftp.socketcom.com/wlan/WTMESetup.exe
After each install (install driver - reset, install wifi comp - reset) I soft reset the device.
At this point I had also found that the finger antenna thing kind of worked but was a bit hap hazzard. The alum foil was a bit of a laugh to - reminded me a lot of primary/junior schiool days So I was at work and a bit board - I found two display pins (I will upload an image of the card and pins a bit later) and used a bit of sticky tape to attach one to each side of the sdio card - looks a bit like a tazzer without the kick) You can get away with just one, but it looked a bit boring - at 23mtrs and through two solid walls it still had 94%.
Under setting > connections > connections > advanced > select networks
I created a new connection called Wifi Network. Under Proxy Settings I ticked "This network connects to the internet" only > ok. Select the "wifi network" from the box "Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using" > OK.
When trying to access a wireless network suggest you selct this as you interenet setting as it will stop the gprs from trying to connect and over write any wifi/driver settings. now put the sdio card in the sd slot and soft reset.
If all goes well, when your pocketpc starts up the card should flash quickly for a bit, then go to a steady half second flashes. The wifi companion should start up and search for avaliable networks - top of screen (magnifying glass and antenna).
All should go well. If you have any issues please PM and I can try and have a look.
Happy networking!!!
Hi,
My home wireless network has two access points with the same SSID and password, but different channels (6 and 11). When I connected my Elfin for the first time (access point with channel 11), everything worked out. However, when I tried to connect it to the other access point (channel 6), the connection was refused.
I tried to reset the phone and to remove the wireless configurations, but I'm still unable to connect to the access point with channel 6. Notice I can still connect to the access point with channel 11 perfectly.
If I go to Settings >> Connections >> Wireless LAN >> Main when the device is disconnected, most of the fields are empty, but the channel field still shows the number 11. Is this number caused by my first connection? Could this be the reason why I'm unable to connect to the other access point? Is there any way to fix this?
Device Information:
- HTC Elfin
- Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional
- Operator version: Onyx 5.0
- ROM version: 3.14.706.02 WWE
- ROM date: 06/24/09
- Radio version: 03.03.90
- Protocol version: 4.1.13.48
Thanks a lot,
Tiago
If it doesnt work on channel 6, hop to channel 10 to see whether your elfin can pick it up.
Hi
My ELF also is set to channel 11 and icant edit this value (icant change the channel) although it is running well on it in every hotspot so why the need to change
I think you can't change the channel number on the Touch. It is something you need to set in your router/access-point.
The Touch automatically detects which channel it is. I don't have any problems with my Wi-Fi connection. Neither at channel 11 as at channel 6.
Maybe changing one of the SSIDs is a solution?
I think the problem is caused by your router/access-point, and not by your Touch. Correct me, if I'm wrong...
If touch is running on channel 11, go to your routor and set it to 11.
Hi all,
For some reason my HD2 has lost it's WiFi functionality. I can happily connect to wifi hotspots, both public and private, I can also get a fresh IP address, but when I go to access data off the connection it fails.
The system is:
- OS version: 5.2.21869 (21869.5.0.82)
- Manilla version: 2.5.19211619.0
- ROM version: 1.66.405.2 (76641) WWE
- Unlocked phone
I have attached some screenshots of:
- IE failing to run
- ActieSync failing to run
- Opera failing to run
- WiFi connections screen 1 (showing an active WiFi connection)
- WiFi connections screen 2 (showing IP address assigned)
I have BsB Tweaks installed, but the issue happens regardless of "Wifi N" being on or off.
I checked the suggestions made for another poster on this forum (ursika) but this made no difference.
Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
BGM
Having the total same problem with you dude. Anyone mind to help out?? =[
Me 3.
(but only recently, since last ROM flash I'm guessing, but only just got round to noticing it)
Did you ever find a solution? Trying to avoid an unnecessary hard reset.
Not sure if its the same problem but try this thread...........
Hope that helps........
Not sure how it happened or what triggered it, but following the advice on that thread (i.e. re-setting the wi-fi cards to have server assigned IP addresses) seems to have fixed my issue thanks!
Ben
Hi!
Everything seems to work OK, except for my mobile internet...
Basically, I can load into Winmo 6.5, but when it tries to make a mobile data connection it says 'There is a problem connecting to the GPRS service in your registered home network' and the little H icon is grayed out (but still there) and when I boot to Android there is no connection there either. Wi-fi works well and so does regular calling. Have made sure that the connection details are all correct and tried various connection details, none of which work.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Oh, and info:
ROM: 3.14.405.2 (04666) WWE
ROM date: 09/29/10
RAdio version: 2.15.50.14
And even more bizarrely the phone will beep when someone has texted, but has stopped vibrating, but it will vibrate when someone calls me. Weird.
