[Q] WebOS 3.0.4 is officially out - WebOS Software Development

Guys the new WebOS 3.0.4 77 is officially out!
See precentral.net http://www.precentral.net/webos-3-0-4-77-pushed-out-touchpads-includes-new-camera-app-1
This has faster web browsing / faster OS according to beta testers.
Unfortunately no HDMI support in this update yet
Anyone tested what happens if you already installed CM 7.1 Alpha and do this update??

Nothing happens, your CM partition stays the same way. Infact I updated myself from 3.0.2 with android installed. There were no changes, only 1 - updated to 3.0.4!!

Advantage of running official ICS over Team EOS nightly?

Hey all, I'm running the Team EOS nightly and was wondering if there is any advantage to restoring to stock honeycomb for the official ICS update?
Should I just wait until a rooted ICS version based on the official is released?
It was released already, it's at the top of the development forum...flash with CWM, it's already rooted. From what I understand, it's probably faster for 3D gaming...could be wrong though.
Are there any issues with the official ics? I would do a search but it seems the search function is missing for some strange reason.

I can't think of a single one. I just flashed nightly 26 from 23, booting it now. Loving the EOS builds!
For a while none of the gameloft games were working on EOS.
Could have been fixed by now.

It is, I've got Uno and MC3 on mine and they are working fine.
I decided to load up the official rooted release and so far it's pretty much the same as Team EOS's build. Team EOS does seem to be a bit snappier, and I do miss the reboot options on Team EOS build. The only improvement I see with the official is the camera, that seems to be snappier and more responsive on the official.
Only issue existing on both version is the Revision3 app that just won't load.

I've been running rooted ICS stock for several days now ... installed the leaked RC, then rooted.
Your question about EOS vs. stock gets the standard answer from me - are you happy with EOS and want more features in the future? If so, then stay with EOS.
For me, I'll stay with stock rooted - I just want a tablet that works and not interested in tweaks. I'll spend my tweaking time on my Photon.
There is no objectively right or wrong answer to your question, and nobody else can answer it for you. Enjoy!
Good thread. I was curious as well because knowing verizon (any carrier really) i doubt I'll see ICS anytime jan or feb and i konda want it now...
Pronlem is i dkdnt really want to root my xoom, but i guess ill have to now.

Actually you don't have to root your Xoom if you just want ICS. I believe there is a stock ICS rom out there too. You will have to unlock the bootloader though.
From my perspective if you are running a rooted stock version of ICS there is virtually not a single reason. Stock isn't overclocked, a lot of enhancements are missing etc. But if you run a completely stock ICS with no root there are some advantages. For example, if you run a non-rooted stock you can rent videos from Google. I can't really think of anything else haha. Go EOS, their ROM is sick.

What benefit does the eos have? No need for OC for me. I actually use the xoom alot during the day and will only jse up mlre battery.
I don't rent videos either so i don't care about that

There are a ton of advantages to EOS ROM over Stock. The major one is the micro SD card is read/writable, all voice-to-text features are working as is facelock, the micro USB port is actually useful now, the EOS quick settings are very nice and they all work! There are several battery options from EOS settings and you can make the notification pull look any way you like.
Even if you don't use the performance features this ROM is the only way to Xoom. Until CM9 or Rogue get one out for the 4G

[ROM][HC]Honey v0.9.1[3.2][ROOT]

Note: An ICS version will be released today! I will post a link you can redirect yourself there!
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am proud to present you this ROM. It is HoneyComb-Based, specifically based on the Overcome ROM. I must give credit for the awesome Overcome base this ROM is based on. It is Rooted & Superuser, and has a lot of eye candy. It still has great performance, though. There are some build.prop tweaks I have added to Overcome, re-themed it, and added ICS Camera thanks to ICS camera devs.
News: The ROM is being updated to version 0.9.1. The Email app has been removed and the screencap Icon is fixed.
Have Fun!
Features of this ROM:
Rooted
Superuser
Good Performance
Asus Transformer-based Launcher
Overclockable kernel adapted from Overcome.
For 7310, not tested on 7300, but 3G definitely not working.
Known Bugs:
Email (not Gmail) is not the most stable in the world
Here is the download Link:
For 0.9.1 https://rapidshare.com/files/1440043812/Honey_v0.9_7310.zip
What to expect from Version 1.0 (Next Version)
ICS-Based
Improved performance
Will be based on Galaxian-Soup ROM, not Overcome
I attached some screenshots!
Will you build a 3g version also?
any new ROM options are always welcomed. ICS has a lot of sags and a Honeycomb ROM is still more stable

There will, if I find somebody with 3G. Maybe poisike could help me out, but I understand he has a lot of work with the Galaxian-Soup ROM. But since the next "version" will be based on the Galaxian-soup ROM, we will have a 3G version.

Yeah, that is why I stayed with HC for now. I was planning to move to ICS when Samsung Releases its Camera resource, but since I "work" in the Galaxian-soup team, I will have this on top of our rom creating the first Custom-UI Android 4.0 ROM, hopefully getting it more and more stable...
@tommrazek01
Thanks for sharing
Installed and running great ! feels very smooth
I'm coming back from ICS, I forgot the feeling of having all the features enabled
~
I Had to freeze the email [ exchange ] app . it gives a lot of FC's
Maybe I'll delete it , as I use all my email accounts forwarded to my Gmail
~
Any chance to remove the red X from the battery icon when USB charging ?
Cheers
I am working on this version running ICS. Then, the icon will be removed. Actually, I think I will still have the HC version up here too for people to choose.
But I will update the ROM today.

It means nothing yet, as we still dont have ICS Source and with out it no proper wifi or screen and a few other things, I can build a JB rom but it will be full of bugs at best.
I am talking a build with a fresh kernel. Using the current one might work and then it might not. I would like to be able to do a full rom not just an Install stock ICS and flash over tht as that may also cause problems.
Bottom line we need source.

From what I know Buzz has never been dropped from CM7. There haven't been enough capacities to do the nightly builds for a while.
Buzz will never get any official CM9 support though as CM9 simply is made for devices with better hardware capabilities

Regarding your problems with CM7 versions: it definitely must be on your side as most of the people don't seem to have issues with CM7 (including me). For me it's pretty stable.

Ok, so far it's running great. I haven't gotten to really dig deep into it like I planned due to a busy day, but I did learn that YouTube still runs like trash. I honestly think it's the app, not the ROM, since it has been this way across several ROMs, and more than a couple devices. I found a little bit of screen flicker when plugged in and in landscape view. This cleared up immediately by disabling ambient display (which I don't think is even usable on the nooks anyway). Other than this, I have nothing to report, all is working as desired!

Ahh, good old amaces. He's been at it for a long time too! I bounce around ROMs from time to time depending on what I want to use my Ovation for. His ROMs are pretty solid and stable too, but I wanted to give old-school KK a try again. I've alwayse liked the split-screen menu layout it used over the newer versions too.

I used to have a working Hummingbird, but it's got a bad battery, and I haven't replaced it yet, so I'm not quite as versed on it as the Ovation anymore. I do know that he's got a following of people that test on the Hummingbird since he doesn't have one himself, and aside for trivial things like the boot screen's orientation being upside down, his' ROMs are known for being quite stable. I remember my Hummingbird feeling faster then my Ovation, but that's also due to the GPU not being taxed as hard as it is on that 1080p display. I remember I had MANY hours of use in on that Hummingbird with his ROMs at the hands of my kids. So much use the battery wore out. Never had any issues with it on the software side that I remember. Now you have me wondering if I can mod mine to fit an ovation-ish battery into it for longer life...

I haven't tried, or heard of before now, unlegacy on my ovation. So far, your ROM is a very well done re-release of CM11. As for the other, newer ROMs on Ovation, yes, they run quite well. I've only tried amaces' ROMs, and he put a lot of hours, and software tweaking magic into getting it to runt he way it does. I'm going to try this new stuff tonight I think. Just to see what it's about.
Update: I can't get Un-Legacy to boot, so I would say it's not as stable as hoped

Sorry, did you flash the LineageOS 11 (4.4.4) ROM or the 7.1.2 one also mentioned in this post? My previous experience with anything newer than KitKat on this device was that performance was too slow. I'm back on CM 11 at the moment but would be tempted to flash a newer ROM.

I flashed the recommended 7.1.2 and seems to work great for my use. I use it mostly as a media player in my shop. for google music, tunein, iHeart, and HDHomeRun, but HD HOMErun stops streaming after 30 seconds, must be due to 512meg memory on the system. But Plex works with out an issue.
Its connected to a car radio in my shop and works great and responsive. I do leave it plugged in beacuse its always in the same spot.
Thanks again, if I start having any issue,' ill let you know.

I do have both a hummingbird and Ovation - both on the old 4.4.4 ROMs as anything newer had too much lag. Which ROM exactly are you trying to install and what recovery version are you on? I seem to remember that the 4.x ROMs needed the old recovery to install.
