This still might be possible at my job we have a microusb to hdmi converter, though it says its for htc phone I can check and see if it'll work for samsung because it works for some htc phones without a tv out option

As far as I know, yes. No hope. There was someone trying to port it but that project has been dead for a long time now.
I gave up on tv out. My resolution I put a pc in my bedroom by my tv. Got a s video to yellow rca cable adapter then plug that into older tv and I use my epic to turn on pc, browse to network drive (cuz movies are stored on my server) then opens and plays movie in vlc which I use my phone to stop,pause, play, change volume or whatev. Then when movie done I turn off pc with my phone. Unified remote app IS FN AWESOME. There are all different kinds of remotes all in this one app. From phone I can launch internet explorer window then use the phone screen as a mouse and keyboard. I can also launch pandora on the pc and have controls on the phone screen. The options are endless its great

Download Screen Filter from the android market.
I always use it at night when watching tv on my phone
Screen filter is awesome but for it to be truly useful on the epic we need the capacitive buttons disabled too they are way to bright

I believe you can do this through settings, display, keyboard timeout.
And hope you enjoy watching netflix on your samoled, better then that crappy screen in the theater.

I too recommend screen filter. You can have widgets with different settings on your home screens that are awesome for quick changes.

I figure to keep people from posting threads after threads saying "please help I bricked my epic" I figured it be easier to have someone do it for them. Since I have plenty of time I figured I do this. If you would like me to root your device simply pm and I will give you instructions on how I will remotely control your pc (if I do it remotely then make sure you have a nonstock usb cable for example a blackberry micro usb) or you can send it to me. If you send via ups etc then you'll be paying for back and forth.*Disclaimer*if anything happens which more than likely WON'T its not my fault BUT will try my best to fix it.
I doubt this will take off but why not put it out there.
* Now know how to root the LG Optimus S, Samsung Transform, and the Evo * spread the word...
