have you tried rebooting? im had a similar issue with my music not showing up when i added it to the tab but after i rebooted it was there
Yeah, the gallery is finicky. You would think that it would refresh itself when you open it. Or better yet, an actual refresh button?
I've deleted images off the device using a file manager, for example, and the images thumbnails still show in the gallery. Stupid things like that.
Make sure you remove the usb cable after transferring files to the tab.
After removal the tab will scan for new files and new pictures/movies will show up in the gallery.

Hello All,
I been having problems with my Gallery photos. It seems like they disappear or does not want to show as if it is corrupted. Photos that are saved on computer and moved to my SD card most of the show up and the ones that will not show up is there when i select it in the gallery (but not show up as an icon).
But recent photos taken with nexus camera will show up but then a day or so it will disappear (icon will not show up in gallery) and when i click on the blank icon it will not show up at all (as if it is corrupted). As soon as I take a picture with the nexus camera I can go to the gallery and select it and click on it to enlarge the picture but its after a day or so it disappears.
So I drag the missing pictures to my desktop on my laptop and it says picture can not be shown. What happen to my recent photos taken with my camera phone? Please help.
I have tried killing the gallery app and still no luck and also restarting the phone.
thanks

Not sure if this is against the rules to bring up an old thread but.. atleast i used the search function!
Im having this problem on my Galaxy S2.. and... is it sure that theres a problem in the internal sdcard?
Can it not be fixed by some different kind of reformat or something?
Or do i just need to go somewhere and have the sdcard replaced.
Try replacing your SD card? that at least eliminates one possibility.
Anyone have any idea how to keep Album and Ebook Covers from showing up in the gallery. Want it to be just my photos etc from cam and downloads but they all show up there in all different folders?
Find where those pictures are stored. Go in that folder and make a new folder call .nomedia
Thanks

Just touch and hold the "offending" file and an option menu will pop up where you can select "Exclude" - done.

I use a great little free app called quickpic which allows you to chose which folders are listed and it loads up large galleries nice and quick.

personally i find the default Gallery app pretty rubbish, it only refreshes content on a reboot for example.
i try and avoid using it as much as possible.

Yes, thats a nice little one.. I just loaded it and it has the exclude in it..
also allows you to backup to the root directry that the offending files are hanging out under..
i.e Books\nonfiction\files.. thus no need to do it individually..
it also works in well with the Picture framer I am using as a widget on one of my home screens..
where I have setup client files for previews.. now I think I just about got the perfect setup for it as a portable
casestudy showcase..so to recap on that..
ESfile explorer - to setup directory links as folders on a home screen
Picture framer to allow 4 large pictures on any one home screen - thus a quick tap takes you in to that themed directry
Quickpic - to run as the main viewer and slideshow engine..

Very sorry but forgot to tell you that I was using Quickpic rather than Gallery.
Quickpic is excellent.
I've used FolderSync to sync the photos from my Rezound onto my Nexus, they are in the Pictures folder, but none of the pictures show up in the Gallery app. It doesn't seem like there is a way to add a folder to the Gallery app unless I've missed it. Does anyone know of a way to add the Pictures folder to the Gallery app? Or will I have to move the pics to the DCIM folder? Thanks!

I can't be the only one who has tried adding photos to my tablet, can I?
the gallery app should pick up all images in the device.. It scans for them and links to them as they are created or put onto the device..
mine isn't doing this. I've opened the Gallery app and hit refresh and it still isn't picking them up.

I have the same problem on mine. I've copied a directory of photos, under /sdcard/Pictures/test, hit refesh and they will not appear in Gallery.
The only photos that appear in Gallery are those from "Download", "Profile Pictures" and "Scrapbook Photos".
Normally it's automatic.
Silly question: have you restarted your Nexus 7?

I'm having the same problem, but it only picks up my Picasa photos. I but then when I don't sync my Picasa photos the Picasa photos still show up.. I restarted several times... Any solution?
Me too
I also have copied 2 folders to the picture directory which gallery does not see.
AND nothing else opens individual pics either. ES Image, FE Image, nor Image gallery.
I don't know if it matters.....These are .tif files.
Thanks
there are some folders in my gallery that i cannot open nor delete and it shows that there are no pics in them but still take up like 83 mb. Hi,
I have around 1600 photos and some videos taken by my S4 saved in the external card now. I noticed that my default gallery app becomes really slow when I click the 'camera' folder containing those 1600+ items. If I click other folders in the gallery (which has less photos, may be around 200) the respond is quick.
Does anyone else experiencing the same?
My S4 is now using the latest firmware, not rooted and all just by default.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

The thing is....when you have 1600+ items in one folder....your gallery needs to generate 1600+ thumbnails.....this is a very slow process since there are so many files....best thing to do is move files into other folders....I mean make come folders with categories so that there arr not more than 200-300 files in one folder....this will speed up your gallery again....hopefully this helped you

If this only happened for one time yes it does make sense but it happens everytime I try to go to camera folder. I don't think android needs to create thumbnail everytime. It should be in the cache already and I didn't delete the cache at all.

Try my suggestion....or allow the gallery to create every thumbnail fully....then check
