Hi!
I've just bought Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 wifi.
I have the router Cisco Linksys E4200 just beside the tablet (2 feet).
I enable 5GHz on E4200.
I disable 2.4GHz on E4200 to be sure that the tablet connects to 5 GHz.
But, doing so, the tablet does not see the wifi.
Anybody succeeded to connect to 5GHz with this router and this tablet?
Thanks a lot!
The only thing I can confirm it's working fine with my Netgear WNDR3700 5GHz WIFI, so 5GHz is no problem with my SGT 10.1

Are you using a custom rom or stock?
I have no issues connecting to my 5 GHz. The only time is does not work is if I flash a P7500 rom or a Asian/Euro P7510 rom.

Dlink DIR 825 5ghz here... working fine...
Hi!
It works now.
We have to set the Channel in the router config to get 5GHz working.
Here is the very interesting suggestion coming from Cisco Wireless Routers forum :
Set the 5 GHz band on the router to a only, 20 MHz and channel 36.
Wow!
Glad you got it working. I have an E3000, but for some reason, I have been using the G channel. I just tried the N channel which is set for 5 MHz only and it worked great. Communications are much faster with the N over the G, so I am keeping it there. Hey, I'm glad I read this thread which prompted me to make the change.

Does anyone know why the wireless N channel of my dual band router doesn't show up on my A500?

+1..
Can't even see my N network either.. My wife's Xoom has a setting under advanced/wireless to change your setting, but my Acer doesn't.
It might be because the A500 doesn't recognize 5Ghz N networks, only 2.4Ghz.

If it's a 5Ghz that could be the problem, but maybe it's just the channels (12 or 13) that doesn't play nice and there's a fix posted already.
Well, mine is a 5Ghz N network.. so that may be the problem. Oh well.
a500 is 2.4 only not dual band like the zoom
Another strange thing.. Speed tests with the a500 are half as fast as my dinc using my wifi

I just did a post about the wifi, since IMO, this is the feature the A500 is weak on.
No adhoc
No 5gz
Weak signal that is unstable in weaker wifi areas
The signal seems toggle in weak areas from one bar, two and zero, disconnects and then reconnects. Rinse and repeat.
My gTablet is a good device for wifi comparisons, but makes the A500 seem weak.
i am using Netgear N wireless router at 150mbps
but my phone shows link speed of 65mbps
any way to force the device to connect at 802.11N
Are any other devices connected to the router? If there is and there not N speed the router will only work at that speed unless it is dual band.
No only my phone is connected

any one? please
The Galaxy S uses a very restricted form of the 802.11N. In fact, it limits it to the 2.4GHz band and only a single 20MHz spatial stream.
Therefore, even on a router that supports N, 65Mbps is the best you are going to be able to get.
Ok i understand why my wifi is so bad too. Thanks

Given all other Samsung Phones are stuck @ 65, I wonder if the S4 Link speed is 150 for Wireless N Or still stuck @ 65?
Thanks
I only get 150mbps if I connect to the 5ghz frequency on my router.

You can connect at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. this provides wireless internet connectivity using WiFi instead of Mobile internet. This lowers your cellular bill at the end of the month and provides much faster internet speeds for your phone whilst connected to WiFi.
In my case i am able to successfully connect to the 2.4 GHz frequency, but my HTC One does not see the router when i configure the router to 5 GHz frequency only. My Dell Laptop connects, but the HTC does not see the SSID.
Others have successfully connected at 5 GHz and using ac to improve their connection speed, but i have been unable to get this with the EA6500 router ((
I am using WPA-2 for security and i tried both N and ac modes on the 5 GHz frequency. I have no problems at 2.4 GHz and N with WPA-2.
So yo be ssfe I should buy a 2.4 Ghz router? What's s decent name brand, model of a router should buy to connect to my Gs4.hey if you can could you pm me a web link for s good router. Thanks

Unfortunately you need to have an internet connection to your home, connect this to the wireless router (i would suggest ASUS RT-AC66U and not the crappy EA 6500 i bought). Once connected there you should have WiFi distrubuted to your home, and you can connect your mobile phone to this. You can use this to share files etc throughout your home network..
I hope this helps.

I am facing the same problem with my new to-link archer c7 router. My HTC one can't seem to see the 5 ghz reception whereas my Xperia and nexus connects without any problem. The router is dual band and HTC sees only 2.4ghz.
Have u found any solution to this ?. Really appreciate the help

Hi,
I use my Nexus 4 quite a bit at home and at school. My school has a very slow over populated 2.4ghz, the 5ghz band though is very quick. I've noticed the Nexus 4 jumps on the 2.4 automatically, to get on the 5ghz I have to turn on 5ghz only. However when I get back home, my wireless router only runs at 2.4, so I have to turn Wi-Fi back to auto. This gets annoying having to do this 5 days a week. My question is simple, is there a way to set 5ghz as the preferred band for Wi-Fi when both are present? I should mention my phone is fully rooted.
any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can you forget the 2.4Ghz Wi-Fi network? That way it won't connect to it. Some ROMS have where you can prioritize the networks too so if both are in range and you have connected to both it will prefer whichever one you set at higher priority. If you don't have a ROM like that just install an app that can do this for you. Here is one:

Unfortunately the 2.4 and the 5ghz networks have the same name, I don't see a way to distinguish the two just with the stock OS.
Try go on just 2.4 then forget the one it connects to while on 2.4 only.

When a router has 2.4 and 5 GHz on one SSID, it doesn't appear as 2 separate access points, just one. Maybe you could make some sort of tasker profile that forces the phone to 5 GHz while your at school, and 2.4 anywhere else if that's possible.
Good point, I forgot about that. I named mine differently. Yeah try tasker, if you can figure it out.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I don't think switching between 2.4/5 GHz is currently possible in tasker.
