Welcome to the Which ROM do you prefer poll!
This is the second edition of this poll, if you would like to see the results of the first edition of this poll see here.
First of all, I would like to thank all the developers for their hard work and dedication and for keeping the g1 alive. Thank you!
The purpose of this poll is to see which roms are the most used and preferred by the g1 community.
I originally created this poll to help those of you g1 users who are having trouble choosing which rom to use, as I used to be one of those people.
How to VOTE:
1.) YOU ONLY HAVE 1 CHANCE TO VOTE. Meaning once you vote, you can't vote again, so choose wisely.
2.) This is a MULTIPLE CHOICE poll, meaning you can vote for more than one rom. So, if you like several roms, vote for all of them.
3.) Vote for the rom(s) you had the best experience with. Meaning, vote for the rom(s) you felt was the fastest, most stable, etc.
4.) (Optional) After voting, please leave a reply with two things:
1. Which rom(s) you voted for.
2. An explanation why you voted for that/those rom(s).

My best ROM was a Donut build sorry....Super CSDI xperia edition.....it was superfast, stable and it became a beast on the 2708+ kernel....but. would go for frosense...stable,fast and used to get upto .55mb free Ram
Sent from my HTC Magic
froyo by laszlo should be official 2.2 android update to g1. really stable, fast and good looking. rushness and lddrifta doin' they work very well also. thanks for that
Hey dmwase u still have the file for that rom can't find it anywhere
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
Am using my phone so i can't post links but you search for HTCClay SuperCSDIX10 or use the Rom bible under the Donut Roms Category in the G1 android dev't....if u have the 2708 hack, make sure u download the Ezbifftest kernel coz the Rom is a legacy build.....flash Rom,kernel then reboot....it will bootloop on reboot but don't freak out.....its normal......try it out....no regrets here....

Very cool that you added more ROM's
Didn't expect that Fro- and GinSense already had 7 votes
Other than Froyo by Laszlo. It sound like no ones like Froyo ROM at all. LOL! That's funny.
Many thanks for putting this updated version together Maximo, its good to see some of the newer roms on it, and this and your previous thread certainly makes things easier for the more confused individuals - like me! .
I would say though there can never be a perfectly accurate guide to the best roms, as what's available are constantly evolving, with roms being updated etc. I also think that what might appear to be a not so good rom, might simply be configured wrongly, or not as the developer intended.
Personally, I voted for and use Laszlo's rom mostly, as it just works really well with a good battery life. But, as szaj said before me, Rushness, Idrifta are knocking out some great froyo stuff so its not easy making that decision!
Everytime a Sense rom gets a vote an orphaned child gets abducted by aliens and gets probed! You and you alone are responsible for the intrusion!
Please take this into consideration when you're placing your vote!

Every time you vote for a rom that I higher than donut, your innocent g1 cries in pain. Every time you vote for donut or lower, it has enough free resources to join with skynet and plan to take over the world. Evey time you vote for any sense rom, same as higher than donut.
Oh and when its crying in pain, it beg skynet to save it, so planning is sped up
what about...
ok, i know this is G1 forum but i have a htc magic 32a (same hardware that roger's G1/dream , rigth?)
what about t-mobile's oficial froyo update? i'm using it with ezterry's ebi1 kernel. and works very well jejej
Fast and rock stable
The best Froyo rom I tried is Ezterry's AOSP and the Ginger one is
Cyanogenmod 7 Magpie (by Firerat). Both stable and no lag. Many thanks to the developers. The only think I would like to be added to these roms is a keyboard for Greek language. My phone is HTC MAGIC 32A.

New ROMS based on what??? We have HTC Sense ROMs for Eclair 2.1 and Froyo 2.2 and AOSP CM 6.1. What else are you looking?
Personally I hate visiting the other device forums because everybody and their brother has 'cooked' up another ROM (mostly just new themes or added favorite apps). IMO who has time to stiff through all the various ROMs and threads? I find it much easier to review 3 different ROM threads and try to help others than to try and go through 10 or 15 threads and seeing messages such as 'well this worked on this ROM but it doesn't on that ROM, why not?'
OK, I'll get off my soap box now...
I agree. Plenty of good variety in the ROMs we have.

There's nothing wrong with that actually. Sometimes it's a good thing because there are more people developing towards something greater. We have 1 or 2 guys doing all this work. There are some pretty badass ROMs for the more popular phones out there. If we had more people developing and cooking, we'd no doubt have something better than what we have even now.
Screw those giant phones.
But a little more ROMS would be cool, we just need more people with the Aria.
It's not a bad phone...hah.

Not too sure, as I have only had the Aria and used the two ROMS.
it's not a bad thing that we may only have 3 roms, but they are actually good quality roms, not just thrown together, and they are constantly being updated, but it would be kool if they had more help with them. Although i wish they had some people creating or porting themes, if i knew how i would, if anybody wanna help me learn, i wouldn't mind contributing by making themes for the aria, cause i kno i'm not the only one wishing they could have a theme to try out

I recently rooted and installed CM6.1.0RC2, and only thing I'd say it's missing is Flash Lite compared to Sense. Wish there was a way to get Flash Lite on CM, sadly not possible. Still loving CM though. Might test Sense again when there's an official Froyo update from AT&T and attn1 has taken out all the bloatware.

Wait... why wait for the official ATT rom? It's going to be near identically the same as the Gratia ROM with 2.2 in it. You can go download it and flash it now.

Agreed. Waiting for the AT&T ROM to be released and then having someone remove the bloatware is pointless. What you will end up with is available now as Liberated FR07...

That's right folks- get your supercharged Froyo sense goodness now with the newer kernel source released by HTC for the HTC legend. Everything works as far as I know, except for the built in wifi hotspot app for which we have replaced with the working Wireless Tether app thanks to the work of shakerhero. Final thanks go to attn1 and jznomoney for their hard work on the CM kernel, ladios for bundling up the kernel, trackpad wake fix, and wireless tether in a single, proper package.

not really
you can vote for more than one
for instance I voted
CM7 Magpie , ADS, COS , EzGinger, Froyo by Lazlo, Biffmod and Ezterry's AOSP
all Open Source , and all have merit
but yeah as with any Poll it is flawed
btw, the reason the poll can not be edited is because with vBulletin Polls you can edit the results , so edit is restricted to mods
I'd vote for Froyo By Laszlo.
I'm using it in a customized (stripped down/barebone) version with farmatitos non bfs kernel 20110428 and without sd-ext.

For me it's fast, stable and delivers a very good battery life.
I tried almost all of the mentioned gb roms. For me they got slow with the amount of apps I was installing (possibly because of low ram space).
But as Effdee stated, "Poll is flawed".

Polls are just flawed in general
if you watched the votes over time you would see a sudden spike in the votes for Ginger Yoshi, this corresponded with when he posted in his thread asking people to come here and vote
Now, a lot of Ginger Yoshi 1.1 users are from the Sapphire Forum
their ROM Bible
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957085
only really points to Yoshi based ROMs (or old out of date roms)
you can bet that many don't realise that they could use the other ROMs in this Poll, so straight away you have a skew
G1 users see the bigger picture and votes will be split amongst the other roms
but I'm sure things will even out once people actually know that this poll is here

you then have a new problem
if you add new options the people who have already voted can't vote again
the new option is loosing from its start
it then looks like it is not very good, so people who come and look at poll then write that rom off as being a poor choice and don't try it.
by adding a ROM now, you kill it
depends on how long you plan to run it and what you want to get out of it.
I think this poll says a lot.
Lazlo doesn't support his rom for quite some time now, but still it is one of the most voted for ROM.
There is a reason for that, really. I hope we will see some of the more recent ROMs enter this level of perfection. For now I didn't find one, so no multivote for me. Lazlo gets my vote.
Froyo 4 Lazlo bests hands down, i didnt even vote for a gb rom. Froyo is about as good as it will ever get for the godfather of android the g1. GB is meant for higher end phones that the g1 just cant handle all its features, as nice as it does run and with the help of all the devs, froyo 4 lazlo is the best most stablest fastest rom i've ever used. No matter what settings i use no other rom can outlast it

Let me preface this by saying I am not trying to start a "What is the best ROM" thread. My question is simple. Of the many Android ROMs available for the HD2, which is the most optimized and stable Gingerbread ROM? Furthermore, is there some sort of CM7 port for the HD2?

I'm sorry but I really didn't want people's personal preferences on ROM's. When I meant the most optimized Gingerbread ROM, I meant the most optimized ROM. Not talking about features, looks or anything else. Just the smoothest one that runs Gingerbread. I also apologize that I didn't look around the forums enough to find the CM7 port thread. I'm still learning my way around these forums and I have very little knowledge regarding these ROMs and such but I will do my best to look for relevant threads.

I second that,
Hyperdroid GBX is the fastest and smoothest Gingerbread Rom, for the HD2
regards
I'm very happy with hyperdroid as well, but I did have to change the pixel density from what the rom comes with... way too squinty
once you try Typhoon cm7 you wont ever use another rom but his

I base my own tests on how good gun bros runs on the roms i have tested and till now only NexusHd2- from tytung runs this game without any problems. All other roms failed. It may be that i am doing something wrong but is very unlikely.
I've tried CM7 nightlies and tytung's rom, both have issues last I checked (last week). Tytung build seemed great, but just had the phone app lockup/issue mid-call (perhaps it's fixed by now).
I settled on Tyween's TyphooN CM7 "nightly" build, and have had no issues at all since the install.

coredroid 1.6 is good but it's not Gingerbread.
Are the virtuous ROMs dead ? should we switch to Taboonay ?
EDIT:
1. ALL the 4 virtuous ROMs are stuck at their versions for the past few days since 19th July
2. http://www.virtuousrom.com/ update from 22nd July states that UNITY project is on hold.
EDIT 2: People are saying "this thread should not clutter Dev threads".... well, please read the bolded part above. Asking Qs in generic area about Dev status of ROMs would be inappropriate.
EDIT 3: I think too many folks took this negatively. Changed topic from "[Q] Are the virtuous ROMs dead ? should we switch to Taboonay ?" to "[Q] What is the status of virtuous ROMs ? UNITY kernel ?". Hope that clarifies that this thread is not to denigrate any developer.

There will be a new Super ROM out any day, call the "SuperHootchieCoochie ROM". Wait for it, cuz when it hits, it's gonna make ALL other ROMS obsolete!

lol guess you are one of the spoilt ones as no updates for a few days everyone panics. they are not dead but i do think if there are no major updates from the sources then nothing more to add i am afraid. what i would like to see is kernel updates for the actual virtuous roms available. its not secret i love virtuous galaxy but thats stuck on unity v7 while some have v8/9 etc. mdj has said that galaxy will be updated when updated firmware is released. i am not a flashaholic like some as once i have a stable offering i am happy however i do like to have the latest available. i am currently trying out thor galaxy v1 to see what that offers as its a fusion of galaxy and asus goodness. i have stayed away from official acer 3.1 mods ad acer driers are not the best. saying that virtuous picasso 1.10 was electric

If you don't know about SHC rom then you're not worth it.
On a serious note... There is no need to flash every single day. If the rom is bugfree and/or there are no new sources then there's no reason to update it.
So chill back and wait for SuperHootchieCoochie ROM.
Do us a favor and ask such questions in the general area, keep this clean for development ...
+1 not only a rom oesnot need to be updated every day but cooks also have a life

Not sure about that. A bit of a grey area This is asking about development of a specific rom. Surely its only the devs in the dev section who will be able to answer this. Its not a tip for users, a theme or an app question he is asking. Chill abit with the 'this is not for this section'.
Anyway when are we getting GT 3.2
I tend to agree with the topic starter. Although I know the developer does a great job, having 4 or 5 different roms to support, makes things confusing, not only for the developer, but also for his followers.
They wonder, what rom should i take, why he switches from Acer to Asus to Galaxy to Xoom and then hops from one rom to another. It makes me think the developer also doesnt know what he wants. Shall i use the asus core or perhaps the acer core, and if that choice is made, he hops back to another core.....
Also, if developing that many different ROM's, what you end up with is a less polished result as when you stick to one dev. direction, which is - in my eyes all to clear as m-deejay's roms still have problems with random power off, wifi problems, and some more, while i do know roms with other kernels, which dont have those problems.
So instead of showing us how many different developments the developer can keep up with for 30-40%, i think he should stick to 1 or 2, and make those 2 100%, or as close as possible to a 100%.
Just my 2 cents......
virtuous alive. moderators please close this thread
How alive is virtual picasso?
I believe Virtuous hoochiecoochie can be alive, but applies the same to the other treads, i really doubt that, as still the wifi problems, the random power offs, random screen-freezes are still as bad (or good, depending on how much you mind) as several versions before.......
Virtuous roms are very unstable, id move on if I were you.
MOD: Please dont close this thread.
Cheers!

As far as virtuous galaxy goes random reboots are a thing of the past since unity v2. From v3 onwards the kernels have been good. However unity v7 in VG 1.0.5 seems to have reverted back to old ways instead of going fwd. Its a shame thor wont release his kernel sources as this would greatly enhance the custom roms we have on here. I do agree that having so many ports can tend to confuse but from my hd2 days mdj works that way!

And 1 for closing this thread as this cant be constructive. Where would this acer forum be without devs like mdj? We have more choice than most of the other tablet owners on here. We have the chefs enhancing the stock option and we have mdj providing us with flavours from deifferent devices. That cant be bad can it? If the virtuous roms are too buggy then we all have the choice to stay clear. However there are many that prefer the custom options and can live with the bugs. We have choice in here not just from stock optimisations but custom mods from various devices. Thats must be a good. What we dont want is people starting to get on the chef and he leaves xda like most of the exp chefs all over xda are doing!

For example galaxy is more or less perfect, 3 small issues to fix, but what else should be updatet. So not much to do for mdj.
And no need to flash a new rom every day, I think. Don't change a running system.

There will be a small price you have to pay for it, approximately 1000,000 pesos. But it's worth it bro! It even comes with a hot secretary that will type for you........"wait for it"!
another 1 for closing
Case in point:
I bought both the Iconia and Transformer and had a tough time deciding which to open and keep. What made me choose the Iconia was the dev support in comparison. Lets realize without dev support our tabs, phones, etc. Wouldn't be functional or as fun!
If the dev of the rom says he's still developing, then case closed.

Hello! I am SirMiaowsalot, and am a long time developer for Android, ever since my G1. I currently own 2 phones, The HTC Wildfire (Hence the forum posted in) and the Sony Xperia Play. As I feel the Wildfire has a more active 'scene', and needs more of a kick in the right direction, I have started development on a Wildfire ROM. I see a lot of 'developers' (or people who call themselves so) simply adding a few apps and changing the launcher of a ROM, then passing it off as their own. Rest assured, I will not be one of those people. I also see a lot of impractical decisions in ROM developing, such as people using apps not for compatibility, but for looks or design. I will be setting out on creating the most stable, practical ROM for the Wildfire you will ever see.
Features Currently Implemented
-Android 2.3.7 (Built and Recompiled from scratch, a few CM7 patches)*
-Market 2.2.7 (Also known as 'Old' Market)*
-Camera/Camcorder fully working*
-Stock clock speed at 245/633Mhz (Most stable, efficient and sufficient in my opinion)*
-Default Gingerbread keyboard*
-A clean Black/White look (Status Bar, Notifications, etc.)*
If anybody has any tips on direction, I would be happy to accept help
I will give a link to downloads once it is fairly usable and stable, and when I'm allowed to post in the development section of the forum.
E.T.A: Early December~ (Beta Release)
Cutting the crap; No pointless additions, Not based on CM7/Oxygen, Completely AOSP.
Many thanks guys!
-SirMiaowsalot
Welcome!
It`s always nice to see a proper developer join the side of the device you own
I eagerly await the release of this ROM, as it sounds like a minimal rom (i like them small and fast ).
It also would be nice to turn your eyes to the Sense 2.3.3 roms, see if you could kick them in the right direction, or even ICS (probably harder). (this is, if you can and have time. If you don`t, there is no need to do it.)
Anyway, any ROM is welcome as long as there really is some work put into it.

I was genuinely thinking of doing a Gingerbread Sense ROM, or an ICS ROM, but I started this when there wasn't a release of ICS, and I don't like Sense in terms of UI/Performance.
I promise I will put a huge amount of effort into this ROM, I don't want recognition as a half-assed developer who just adds some apps to CM7 and expects people to download it.
I love the minimalistic, functional look, and luckily this can be achieved without any performance drops or any un-neccesary apps. Any help would be welcome, so if you've got pointers, I'm happy to look into them
