Anyone else notice the paint coming off of their xperia x10s?

There's no paint on the X10 outside of the chrome ridges.
But yes, I noticed some chipping where I dropped the phone once. Other than that, nope.
my black x10 is loosing some paint around the notch to remove the battery :-(

Oh! Maybe you got a fake one! Ho! Ho! I've seen some fake ones while I was traveling in the East. Does your unit say's Made in China?
I got directly from a Rogers store... anyways it happens near the 2 top corners on the x10 for me. That part is now grey instead of white...
Sent from my X10a using Tapatalk
You mean the top front two corners? On my case, they are worn out, but on the phone itself, nothing. The chrome seems like it's cheap and is gone completely where I dropped the phone on the bottom, but other than that, no changes at all.
I can't think of anything except if you wear incredibly tight jeans and you're constantly inserting and removing it from your pockets. That seems to be how my case is getting worn out, heh.
Get a gel silicone case. Flexible and good to grip and hold like a soft gel case, with the protection and durability of a hard case. only 10$
also i heard that the chrome is actually plastic, can anyone confirm this. I remember reading it somewhere in one of those x10 disassemble threads.
I've had the x10 since release in the UK. It's my main phone, I don't use a case and am not that careful (although haven't dropped it on anything hard yet). I wear jeans all the time and there is no wear on the corners at all.
Looking closely at the phone, I think it's moulded black plastic and so I doubt it can get discoloured. The chrome I know can get chipped (someone on ebay sold me an x10 they had dropped, labelled as new, had to return for refund), so be careful with that. However, it hasn't worn down or anything on my phone.
It's not the Chrome part, its the corners on the front and it is turning grey

Plastic Slivers from the Screen Bezel?

Just thought of this tonight. I keep getting these weird slivers that hurt like a ***** in the ends of my fingers, kind of like a metel sliver. I've been getting them on and off for about 2 months. I think they must be coming from the plastic bezel around the screen; what do you think?
Also, my bezel is cracked at the power button and vol. button, and is splitting off along the top, above the speaker.
Anyone else notice this?
nope mines fine no troubles been a champ
Oh, and I've had mine since launch. I just got another one in my other finger... and unless it came from my macbook pro...
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
That sounds unlikely, the plastic on this phone doesn't really "splinter", it kind of cracks and bends.
I've used mine without case or screen protector for months with no issues.
Can you post a pic maybe yours has some strange flaw?

Desire HD Sticky Screen

Hello guys.
I've got a minor but a really annoying problem with my DHD screen. Sometimes i just cant slide my fingers over the screen. Its because the screen is too much sticky. Sometimes (p.e. in cold weather) the screen slides just OK but 60% of time its pretty ****ty. Sometimes it makes web brosing really annoying and gaming impossible. Has anyone encounered the same problem? Any solution, opinion, post is appreciated
PS: Some display cover (invShield) should fix it but i dont like to have something that degrades the picture quality of the screen - hate bubbles...

Its your finger, do you moisturise a lot?
Well, if you mean that i sweat a lot, i'd say no... I tried to dry my fingers, superclean them, superclean the screen...
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Does the screen "stick" when you run the back or your hand over the screen?
I didn't mean sweat, more like lotions & creams that will make your skin soft.
Them dirty sites?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I get this exact same problem too! Sometimes when it's cold (not only though), i find it hard to slide my finger properly. It sucks when trying to play fruit ninja!
Anyone know of a solution? I doubt my fingers need moisturising
No, i dont use any moisturisers and while sliding joints over the screen, it slides just ok... However yesterday i borrowed my phone to a friend and he told me, that his fingers slides bad also... So probably its my fingers, but im not the onlyone who have/would have this issue...
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Moisturising your fingers will cause this!
Try rubbing your hands & fingers with an alcohol/ethanol based hand cleanser.
To be honest i think it's the screen surface used by HTC that sometimes causes this. My brother has an iPod touch and i've never experienced the same thing.
Use a screenprotector?
Cleaning your finger is the opposite of what you need to do. in order for your finger to slide well you need a certain amount of lubrication, the grease from your skin will usually provide this.
As a general rule of thumb people will have a little "extra" grease on their forehead and bridge of nose because we dont tend to touch that area throughout the day. If you are having trouble just run your finger along your hairline
Sounds a bit gross, but there you have it.
Edit:
In my experience cleaning your screen with any kind of solution unless it is actually grimy is counterproductive, a quick buff with a microfiber cloth to remove dust and visible streaks is enough and leaves a sufficient amount of oil on the screen to ease sliding.
Thanks, JB! Gonna try till tomorrow, then i'll let you know if it gets better!
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
It's moisture making fingers more grippy, not a lack of oils
Personally I hate the rainbow effect oils on the screen create
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Get a screen protector, they generally slide better than bare screen.
I get that too,and sometimes when i press the screen to add a widget nothing happens, i have to change screen then go back and it works lol
Well, problem solved. But it wasnt my finger which needed lubrication. When i lubricated my fingers by 'my nose' as JB recommended it did nohting but a greasy line across the screen. However when i cleaned it by microfiber cloth, the grease spreaded over the screen surface and my thumb now slides like a dream! And the display is more responsive even to simple touches. So - problem solved! Clean finger and lubricated screen.
Thank y'all!
(Yeah primitive solution - should have found by myself)

I recommend you an ORIGINAL screen protectors. Chinese ones are very bad, and maybe is worst than without it (in terms of your problem while dragging a finger)
Idd, you should get an anti-glare screenprotector that also works vs fingerprints, i got one a few days ago and its heaven! your finger slides so smooth over the screen and it barely leaves fingerprints behind and ofc the anti glare is rly nice to have aswell.
edit: this is the one that I use, even tho its a dutch site, its rly good and fits perfectly, and when I putted it on my DHD it didnt leave 1 bubble

Screen impossible to use with "water" on your fingers!

Hi!
Is it just me or is it freaking IMPOSSIBLE to use the touch on the Xperia X10 when you have just slightly like swetty fingers? If theres just a little water on the screen the touch goes banana crazy and it takes a while for you to even unlock the lockscreen. Is that just my phone or is it like that for everyone?
I've also had this problem i come back from football with sweaty fingers and its near impossible i wouldn't even try to text someone
That's a problem for EVERY capacitive touchscreen, not only for the x10. Water makes it impossible for the screen to recognize touches correctly because every drop is recognized as a touch. Just google capacitive touch screen to learn more about how this technology works.

It sucks if you have sweaty palm syndrome, which I have . Even the smallest of stimulation of fingers and my whole hand starts sweating, meaning every time I use the X10 my hand sweats and the screen spazzes

The new Xperia Active is said to use a Wet Finger Tracking technology that allows you to use the screen with wet hands! See more here.
Please buy Xperia Active or if you want a cheaper option..carry a couple of tissues with you!!
Sorry to interrupt from a P500 user, but i can use my device when my finger is wet.
I used to check for messages and news after taking a bath, so my finger is quite wet. But i have totally no question with my screen with those wet fingers, but it is on my P500 though. =)

Resistive screens worked with pressure, so it's only normal that water and moist didn't make a difference.

Hmm. here is my story. (its ur choice to believe or nt)
i was using StealthGuards last time. and it work out fine. FYI: i have sweaty fingers at times.
but after i remove it (cuz of my caseing)..i been having this problem too.
the "installation" for this screen protector is to use water and then let it dry about a day. i think thats the reason that my sweaty plams work.
I live in Scotland.
Where it rains.
alot.
New fangled phones can only be used indoors.
Or in a hoodie.

So what. Iproducts are not worth buying just to be able to use when your hands are wet. Just dry off your hands before you use your phone. You shouldn't be getting it wet anyway.

I have sweaty fingers and palms too at certain times, and yes you can't really type/touch the screen..... It's an 'issue' with capacitive screen.. resistive wouldn't be a problem(but it sucks)..
Lol you can hardly use the phone when your hands are dry.. what do you think will happen when they are wet?
I am in the bath now as I write this I don't have any issues.
I have taken the second screen protector of though, maybe that helps.

I removed the stock screen protector it became sensitive to moisture.
I replaced it with a new screen protector.

you dont understand. i wasent saying that everyone should now buy idevices, i was just stating that they are capacitive and the water on the screen doesnt interfere with the touch. by the way i always get water on the screen like when its sprinkling and a few drops get on it and when your fingers get a bit sweaty like in a room or car with a heater.

Okay. In some shop a test model of the galaxy s2 have well scratches its very waird. Can I remove the scratches with duplex scracht remover? Sorry from my english I come from the netherlands.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
A scratch remove should work find on the home button - certainly easier than it would on the glass!
If you have any spare screen protectors, you may want to check them as some of them still have the cut-out bit for the home button attached to them, so you could trim it slightly and use that.
Other than that I wouldn't worry about it - it's very unlikely to happen and even if it does it doesn't affect the phone in any way whatsoever. If you saw a display model with scratches then that's because it's currently one of the most popular phones in the world and hundreds of people will have played with it every day, probably including small children and apes.

You would have to be an ape to get scratches on your Gorilla Glas.
As for the home button i think its just plastic but it has a silver bezel around it so may be finger nails scratching it.

No disrespect, but I seriously doubt that people would be interested in some scratches on your home button that you can very rarely see.
Forget about them
I don't have any scratches either. I do take precious care of my phone and thankfully, nothing has happened to it yet.
i also do have several scratches not visible from the first glance... little bit dissapointed, but do not pay much attention. Saw some protectors on ebay, but those only with svarovskiy crystals. xD expensive - but really does not worth it unless u r a lady
