I had my Nexus One sitting in a drawer for a couple of weeks--I switch phones every month or so just to keep it fresh. Today I plug it into the wall to charge, as to use it for a bit.
NOTHING. Charging light is on, but when I push the power button, only the charging light blinks, then goes back to charging only. (The screen does not come on, nor does the phone power up). I was running CM7 stable before I powered it off and put it in the drawer for safe keeping.
What might cause this?
NVM...after dicking with it for an hour it finally managed to power on.

Hi everyone, yesterday I took my G1 from my pocket (after using it normally for some hours) and it was turned off. I thought the battery was dead (I left it at about 20% charge) so I tried to turn it back on and surprise...no vital signs at all. The phone didn't turn on, and the led was dead. After losing half of my hair, I tried removing the battery and placing it back. Now the phone behaves like this; when I press the power button, as long as I keep it pressed the led flashes red and that's it. When I stop pressing the power button the led stops flashing. When I plug the usb cable, the led gives a solid red and stays like that forever.
Please someone tell me it's just a screwed up battery...please

Probably bad battery. It is certainly worth it to at least try another battery -- they're dirt cheap anyways, or better yet, BORROW one.
* Solid green (when connected to the power adapter): The battery is fully charged.
* Solid red (when connected to the power adapter): The battery is charging.
* Flashing red: The battery is low and needs to be charged.
* Flashing green: There is a new notification.

Leave it to charge for 30 minutes or so, then try to power on. should be okay
better to charge from ac power if u can
Its possible your charger could be faulty.
I have the same problem, has anyone found a solution?
Try leaving it charge for a good hour, or just go out and try a new battery, could just be dead.
Sent from my Xoom
sometimes if a battery gets to low it wont even charge... not just for phones but cameras too and so on..... iv had to do this to cell phones and cameras.... take a usb cord you dont care about and cut it and expose the red and black wires..... look for the positive on your battery and negative, usually its marked, how positive to positive and negative to negative for 30 seconds to a minute while its plugged into the computer then, pop the battery back into the phone and try to charge..... everytime iv had to do this for a freind or something of my own the battery has lasted over a year after with no problems.... just a suggestion
Thanks for the suggestions. I had already ordered a new battery and the phone boots up with it but it won't charge on or off and usb isn't recognized either. I tried wiggling the plug around to see if it was some kind of loose connection but it doesn't appear to be the case. I may take the phone apart and see if anything is loose but otherwise I'll just have to enjoy the last 30% battery of G1 time I have.
Is anyone able to power the focus off? When I bought it today it had about 1/2 a battery and I diligently used it until it powered off by itself. Trying to bring it completely down to "Cycle the battery for the first time. I wanted to charge for 10 hrs while the unit was powered off but as soon as I plugged it in it powered itself on. I continue to hold the power button down but it keeps powering itself back on. Is this normal? anyone able to power off while it is plugged in to the charger?
Love the phone so far....
A lot of current smartphones, including the iPhone, can't stay powered off when they are plugged in.
I don't really know why, but that's just how it is I think.
I cannot power it off when charging.
Ok, so my Kindle Fire is rooted running an older version of CM9 (Late January) and since I don't use it very often it just sits there. Well, it ended up draining the battery and when I plug it into the wall to charge it just tries to turn on, gets to the FIREFIREFIRE bootloader logo and shuts off instantly. Over and over and over...
I've had it plugged in for about 20 minutes now and nothing is changing... How can I make it stop so it will just charge? I feel like its just booted and draining faster than its charging now.
Just let it sit for over an hour, came back and the screen was off with the light just flashing.
What now?! I unplugged it, and plugged it back in and it just resumed the screen flashing again...
I hope it didn't break because of the stupid battery
- plug it to the wall charger
- press and hold the power button for ~20sec till it turns off to allow it to charge
- let it charge for some hours (over night)

No dice, it won't turn off. I held it for over a minute while looking at the power light from an angle. It just kept on blinking green...
Btw, here is another thread for this

I lost all my installed applications but everything now is working!
Michael
ok... so... i feel dumb right now... last night my phone died... like was at 0%battery and turned off, so i plug it into the charger that i always use, and it showed my battery icon, then screen went black and the LED was blinking red and then everything went off....
i tried holding the power button for longer than 30 sec, and its still not turning on.
Any suggestions?
Im running the PA 4.0 rom.
Have had the phone for a while now but for some reason recently the phone will randomly shut off. Some times it will immediately start booting back up but more often then not it will just stay black. holding the power button does not turn it back on and some times even holding the power down and the power button doesn't work I just have to wait. I'm not sure whats going on.
The problem is this most recent time it did this and the light was solid blue. after a while a green light started to flash slowly while the blue was still illuminated but the phone would not power on no matter what I tried. I took the back glass off and got to the battery plug and unplugged it (thinking that it was just a hard freeze) now i have no lights and I can't power it on. I don't even get a battery or any lights when I plug the power in.
Has anyone seen anything like this or could give me any other troubleshooting steps I could try to follow? I've put the wireless charger and retainer and screws back in but haven't resealed the back glass in case I have to go back in.
Seems to me like the MMC (memory management controller) chip is dead.
That's a motherboard swap isn't it?
So I opened the phone as disconnected what I think was the screen and some other plug on the bottom left of the mobo maybe the touch synthosizer? I let it sit for about 15 20 mins charging. I plugged all the connectors back in and it booted properly.
Why did that work?
Now that it's up I did a factory reset put apps on one at a time and using Snapchat causes the phone to shut off.
