If you don't know what you are doing then I don't suggest you tinker with the CPU speeds...

What the the other poster was referring to is ask first, do later.
Overclocking your phone while it increases performance also has some downfalls.
There are different types of governors as well. they overclock and under-clock you phone at certain points.
There are countless threads out that that explain which each one does.
This is the best place to start. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419

yeah thanks. i'm not saying you shouldn't do it, i'm just saying you should learn more about something before doing it. it's like tinkering with a car's engine, without any knowledge of how the engine works.
please don't get offended.

Best IntersectRaven Kernel

This is a informational poll to help some people choose between the different types of kernels that IntersectRaven offers.
wrong subforum buddy, ask this on general.
Why would I put this in General forums?? It is about kernels which is categorized as development since it isnt an app or core function
It's a poll about kernels, but has nothing to with development.
Ok. Well sorry you feel that way.. If it bothers you that bad.. just put some white-out on your monitor where this topic is in the topic listing so you want have to see it!! Thanks
Play nice fellas...

Im sorry, but this response is full of win. I applaud you sir.
LOL im just having a little fun. No harm
I will leave this thread in its place since I don't think it would make much sense in the General section. While it isn't development per say, it isn't like saying "what do you like better WM or Android?"

get out????
uhhhh.. what am i getting out of???
A poll that could give people a better choice of which kernel to go with???
or
A thread that is filled with intelligence and good information provided by you??
How about lets stick to the topic and talk about advantages/disadvantages and information about battery life for each of the different kernels.
SOUNDS GOOD TO ME
kinda point less since IntersectRaven updates kernels almost daily how bout just read his thread/posts which state the obvious and continue the discussion of his kernels on his thread..
I voted even though I only used one of these.
14hrs gone, 42% left on 925 CFS! Truly awesome compared to stock, this is my company phone so wifi use and call time is high!
Thanks for the feedback!
i use the 925 cfs but i've not tried the others.
I have tried the bfs one but it was a bit buggy for me to try battery life testing

Android Build questions

I know theres plenty of threads about this issue but they're so long of a read it would take forever for me to go through them.
I've been using hyperdroid with vbn rom. Its been great and reliable but it still has its quirts. What i like about the build is that the battery will last me close to a full day of use and it don't randomly reboot on me. But its just too outdated and am wondering if there is something else that is better out there.
I've tried jms builds but the battery does not last but a few hours for me.
My question is, what are you using and how does it compare with hyperdroid? AS in battery wise and random boots. Thanks
Dude, there was absolutely no need for this topic, There is plenty of threads to read on subject and it would take you 10 mins tops to get a good idea of the next build and/or kernel to use.
Please stop been lazy and creating clone topics.
Dude, how about you don't be a smartass and just let it die out like everybody is?

Im not been a "smartass" im stating a fact that you should have been aware of by using simple common sense.
At least take 5 mins to look at a forum before you post on it.
ALSO if you want to ask questions there is a Q&A forum so you fail on all points.
If you want help ask in right places and only if the information or question isnt readily available already.

[KERNEL][4.6.2011] Thunderbolt Kernel By Ziggy

For those familiar with Ziggy's work, he finally compiled a kernel for the Thunderbolt. It is a beta kernel so there will be bugs, so test it out. For reporting bugs please comment on his website. I am in no way affiliated with Ziggy, just wanted to spread the news.
Will try to update as much as possible.
[Removed Link] Mod Edit
Loved his kernel on my Evo. Thanks for the heads up.
TB refuses to wake up had to do a battery pull

Fantastic. Ran a number of Ziggy's kernels on my Inc and was quite pleased. Can't wait till these get refined.
2 new beta kernels up on Ziggy's website today. ziggy471.com
been testing these for a while now. AWESOME is the only way to describe them lol

What are you some kinda angry nerd? You tend to get better explanations about PHONE questions on a PHONE message board. How each effects a PHONE vs Linux....
Take a step back and stop being an angry phone nerd.
To cut it short,
BFS is generally faster, but has its hickups when multitasking.
CFS can be a little lower in quad scores (which mean nothing in my opinion) but do better on multitasking.
I prefer CFS, its smoother to me.. Try em both, it depends on what you prefer and what your phone can handle

Nobody in the forums hate anything more than answering silly questions...always search before posting...especially development forums. If you have a simple questions, post in the general thread or simple google search and you will find your answers...not being harsh...just stating facts.

What was I thinking... BFS vs CFS is so common. I was actually going to ask my mom about it.
Nikolai2.1 - thank you very much. See how easy that was? Instead you guys decide to insult and argue, taking up MORE comment space.
This thread is becoming funny. Guys, even if you want people to search, please be polite. No point being too challenging. Many people ask simple questions because they want to hear answers in laymen terms. Please be kind - you were a noob once too.

Actually I disagree. A well researched article will give you or anyone else much more info than 10 people expressing what their opinion is on the topic.
Also he did not only google it for you but he posted the link for you as well. I also did not see him sling any names at you.
Maybe a Thank You should be in order.
It might also be noteworthy to address that this belongs in the General Section not Development.
Good Luck

I see both angle's really. if the statement was just go search then yeah. He did in fact supply the info. Might not be to yours or my liking but I do take the words for what they are. I try not to read into them to much. We must remember emotions are very difficult to read.

GPU OC/UV within Android

Is it possible to OC/UV our gpu like is possible on the HTC evo http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1719934
Or is it only possible to do this through the kernal it's self?
If it is possible to do it using a GUI within android, what would we need to make it happen?
Sorry posted in general by mistake
You need to learn to search .... thisis already done since the beginning and you xan do this easly on the new kernels yourself

Well actually i know that there are threads out there explaining how to do it on kernal level. But thats not what i was asking. I was asking if it could be done with an application from within android like, in the link that i posted was done on the evo

Ive looked previously and didn't find anything, but Harmony and Guevor kernels gpu overclocks are pulling as much as the gpu has to offer , I wouldn't recommend increasing passed what they have anyway.
Thanks for the info. It would be nice if we could control these settings in android though.
It would alow the user to configure there own setting, for there own need.

I know, but I just want to make full use of my cpu performence and at the same time it can save electricity, smooth.I'm not good at setting cpu.I need a easy way to use my cpu.At last, thanks for your advisement.
Buddy, all kernels are good. Developers work hard in their free time to make them happen.
Also, not everyone uses their device the same way, so try out different kernels and find out for yourself.
Again, I'd advise you to stay on each kernel for at least 3-4 battery cycles to find out how it goes. Don't judge by the first battery cycle.
Kudos for posting this to the correct subsection.
PM me if you need further help.

Firsrt, thanks all the develpers like you completely contribute to andriod development. To be honest,I admire them very much beacause they can do what we can't do and I wish I were a member of them.
Second,I appreciate that you can offer me a method to test the kernel.
I'm a college student from China and my English is not so good.I'm not sure that you understand what I say.But sincerely thanks!!
