very nice work here fellas very nice
and the Rom Manager was a nice touch too
I guess this means CWR doesn't have a problem with flashing kernels anymore?

There is no update to my knowledge. I could be wrong.
Is there any fix to CWM breaking the ability to charge the phone while its off?

Awesome! Just got done flashing, went smooth as silk.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you're really opposed to CWM, couldn't you just unzip the package, flash the kernel with fastboot and push the file in system/lib using adb?
Anyway, Smartass governor? Wow, having had a Droid X before I feel like I've really been out of the loop. Read up on it, I like it. It's good to have a kernel that I feel I can relate to.
Still charges in cwm when off just displays cwm recovery screen if fastboot is not enabled.

I would suggest, since you are already running 7.0, check the link Kyrillos ROM v7.1 and update your ROM to v7.1 (its so much better, though optional), post that Flash G3Mod v 1.6 Kernel.
Then using Set CPU you can OC more than 800 Mhz.
Note : Dont forget to read the instructions carefully for Kyrillos 7.1 ROM, G3Mod Kernel and SetCPU.....remember, you do all this at your own risk..check my signature for my stats...

Go to 7.1 link given above, and save the file in your SD Card and rename it as update.zip
Then from CWM recovery, install it and you would have 7.1 (read the link, you got to have 7.0 installed to install 7.1, which u already have)
2ndly as far as OC goes, no one would want to have their cell die..my question is Do you guarantee that OC at 800 Mhz will not make ur phone dead? (just a food for thought, dont make this bug you )
What i normally do is, using SetCPU i OC only while playing game..i normally keep it as 600-1200 MHz, on demand.....after I am done...i set it back to 200-800 Mhz on demand...and I normally play for a couple of hours at stretch...nothing has happened to my phone so far...but at the same time, I know when you run at max speed, you are bound to tire early....decide what you want more

I am surprised...you sure have not visited the link for 7.1 and read the changelog for what all has been updated vis-a-vis 7.0.(though as stated in my 1st post to you above, it is optional, what you need to decide is whether to have a Kernel which lets you to overclock, if at all you intend to overclock at higher values.)....have what suits you cheers mate.

thx for this help !
I'm looking forward to do this update (didn't know it was possible with that zip)
Some Q:
- Will it keep all installs, settings and apps as they are now? (I have K7.0-OC)
- I have G3-1.7 (looking forward to the battery fix), won't it harm this kernel or will of flash the fugumod again? (and do I need to reflash afterwards?)
- I have ext4 with many installs, won't it be damaged after updating?
- I don't have a swap, is it needed? Does it make a difference? (in the g3mod app I've set all to ext4, does this move the swap to ext4? It's 500Mb and half used by now...)
I wouldn't want to ruïn my system now, since it's finally running (not always smooth, dough...)
I suggest using fugumod ultra as that has an OCed bus so games wont lagg.

SWAP is used as a temporary memory, it is only optional, so choice is yours, I had it in past, right now, i dont have it on my configuration.

If its not running smooth, why do you worry about not ruining it, you can try various things on the forum, and you will have finally known, what to keep and what not to!
Others will give their views too here so you would know.

I installed, but it didn't ask for wiping (do I HAVE to do it manualy, because it's better not of course, now that I have everything installed.)
Also, I think it makes my phone slower :-/
Or would the wipe help???

Dont worry about the quadrant score, its misleading.
You can get a higher quadrant score by some tweaks, but more importantly.
See if your phone is more responsive, much faster, no lags, no freezes. If it is there, quadrant doesnt matter.

Brother, it does not ask for wiping, you have to do it manually...Also Supercharger doesnt work for me however lagfix does, but again I would say more than quadrant score, you should be concerned about the performance of the phone and responsiveness.

My A500 was running Taboonay 3.01ROM without any problem. When watching some 720P video it tented to stutter here and there so I though I should look into overclocking it. I downloaded kernel 3.9R4 for custom ROM from tegraowners and installed it. The tablet stopped working after reboot. I could still see the lock button but I was not able to unlock the screen. It seemed the touch screen did not work any more. I then did a reset boot with power-vol-up-gyro combination and it is now on the "Welcome" screen. But the "start" button is grayed out and it does not respond to any screen press, like a frozen windows pc.
IS there any way I can push the old working kernel into the tablet. maybe using adb push?
Thanks,
Jay
Tabooney 3.0.1 is ICS i.e. thor's 3.9R4 kernel is incompatible because it is for Honeycomb. Reflash another full ROM.
Thanks for the info. How do I flash another ROM? I normally ran ACER recovery to boot into recovery. I can not do that any more so what are the steps for installing a new ROM?
Thanks,
Jay

Here we go again. Let's keep it clean, shall we?
I was able to re-install the taboonay 3.0 rom by Power + vol- into recovery and install it from external SD card. Everything is back to its original working order.
Thanks!
Now a question, is there a kernel I can use on ICS to overclock my A500?
No. This is stock kernel with all the custom ICS ROMs here (sources are still unavailable). Thor's project is AOSP and comes with custom kernel which is overclockable.
I was looking in the Xoom threads, and found this kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1488059
It says "Including overclocking to 1.7GHz", but when I load the kernel atop my rom, I still don't get the CPU to show anything more than 1000mhz.
Does anyone know if there some type of module that has to be loaded now-a-days? Some type of configuration change required? Or do we just need to wait for a custom kernel that has this all worked out a head of time.
Overclocking stock ICS ROMS
I've been annoyed that I can not keep my ARM running at 1.5GHz as well and was looking at the manual settings in SetCPU. I think (I haven't tested yet and might be wrong) you can make a simple text file to specify the CPU speeds. Has anyone else tried this and maybe can supply a copy of their text file?
I'll try later tonight and report back if it works if no-one else gets back 1st

Now there's a good one. Let's load a Motorola kernel on top of an Acer Rom with Acer hardware.
You're lucky you didn't bork the tab
Then we;d have to refer you to the Zoom forum to get it unborked.
Overclocking using any app requires a Kernel that actually supports this feature -- which Acer ICS Stock 2.6.39.4+ doesn't. As Acer didn't release the source for a Kernel that was never meant to be used by the general public (It's a Leak, remember?) we can't add this feature. Flashing another kernel is probably a dumb idea also, as it almost definitely isn't going to anything other than brick your tab (If you try anyway, at least do a NAND backup). Once Acer releases the sources for their ICS kernel (which won't be before they release the ROM) OC will be possible using our own, hacked, kernels -- until then, be patient (or use HC).
so there's still no custom kernel for taboonay 3.0.1 for overclocking?

EZTerry's OC kernel in the Dev section should work. "should". It's an ICS kernel.
MD
I'm just not getting it.
I have a tmobile 10.1 galaxy tablet SGH-T898.
I've downloaded pershoot's kernel boot-cm_2636.4_tmo-oc-xtra-vfpv3-d16_fp-010912 and went in to CMW and flashed then i rebooted.
After reboot i installed setcpu apk
then it says your su binary is outdated, i try to update but it says it cant be updated.
setcpu range max is 628 and min is 528
what am i missing?
Here we discuss the same problem:

Anyone?..?.?
I would suggest looking for a rom that has the pershoot kernel built into it already so it's in place when you flash it. When I first installed a custom rom on my galaxy tab I had the same issue with the kernel. Ended up just using a different rom and problem was fixed. May have been an incompatibility with your device in some way.

Get a kernel you can over clock on, maybe you should learn more about what your doing before trying stuff and will ultimately break your device.

Well, for starters, did not realize the stock ROM could not be 'clocked. I've put many ROMs on my Droid X and Nook, this is the first time I've 'played' with the N7.
Am downloading EOS ROM now... will see how that goes. jf

You need to install Motley or Trinity Kernel.
After you get your rom booted, install Motley's 1.0.6 anykernel zip file in the original development section, I believe it's Build #47, by wiping cache and dalvic and flashing the zip file in recovery.
Then install an app like CPU Master or Rom Toolbox Free
And remember that when you overclock and tell it to set on boot, if the device goes into deep sleep it may wake to 1300 mhz and you will need to set it back at 1600.
Also you may want to bump your minimum CPU speed up.
