So I unplugged at 7am this morning, and now 5 hours later, I have 29% left.
I took 1 picture, read about 7 emails.
WTF
Not to be a ****, but you've been here almost 9 months and still dont know that if you're having a problem like this to let us know what ROM youre using and the rest of your setup? That deserves 0 help...
It could be a multitude of things, your autokiller is killing off too much stuff so the apps keep restarting, you're in a bad signal area, bad app, strange sync settings, high background data usage, god only knows what.
What Rom are u using? go back to stockruu!
Check Spare Parts battery usage? Look at partial wake usage
Probably the new Facebook update keeping it awake.

make sure you calibrated your battery and also make sure your phone is going to sleep and doesn't have 100% wake time. the hero has much better battery life than the evo.
Wow I can't believe what a difference that made, I don't have anything frozen.
I turned off GPS and logged out of facebook app and my phone went nearly 6 days and 18hours.
with EH17 modem I was getting worse battery using WiFi (go figure) on all the time, so I just turned it on when I wanted to download something.
I have an extended battery I bought from Gorilla back in March

Can't the same thing be achieved by just selecting "never" in the fb settings for refresh interval? Yet somehow if I leave notifications checked I still get notifiers for messages, invites, etc.
I don't even have Facebook setup, I think I even have it frozen in Titanium since I don't use it. I don't get crazy battery life like that though.
I have facebook and twitter syncing constantly ever 4 hours maybe ill try this out.

That is why screen on time in a situation like this is important. I could probably get four days from my 1500mah battery if I never used it.
Not saying he didn't get 6d with good use, but I doubt it.
Facebook is why we have our phones! So less checking of Facebook then less use of your phone. Hence better battery.

Yes, I have the best reception with the EH17 modem. I am able to connect to 4G in my house. I could not do that with the EC05 modem or any other leaked modem for that matter.

not very much, I am a lite user because I work from home. I text a decent amount, because of that only a few phone calls (I can get the exact number of each if you'd like) and update my apps.
I'll check the screen time when I get ready to plug it up again next week.

Same thing on my wife's epic (running midNight 5.3 as well). I logged her FB off and her stock battery (didn't want the extended battery because of the bump) is lasting like 2 days, and she uses pandora and the rest of her phone a lot more than me.

yeah I noticed that even though I asked it to sync every 4hrs it was always listed in the running services. I think this came about with one of their recent updates that has location data and what not.

NO you MUST log or sign out to stop it from keeping the phone awake. Same thing for Lattitude and Amazon MP3 if you log into those.

You have to give the battery some time; like when you first got your phone the battery life was really bad but then steadily improved.
Also, I recalibrated my phone with the new battery

FB constantly syncs over and over.. & GPS keeps locating you, so it's best to only turn it on when you need it. You could have left facebook on, turned off automatic syncing, and manually press sync every week or so.

Yes and Dolphin Mini Works way better (less of a hog than the stock)!
After I had rooted my r800x I noticed my battery life was barely half of what is was or less. After grabbing BetterBatteryStatus I had found out that "lidswitchd" was using as much cpu as it could get. When I had rooted my phone I had used a different sdcard as one of the sets of instructions had recommended but not wanting to keep putting the back on I had disabled the safe sdcard option (settings->storage->Disable Safe SD card). Once I re-enabled this option my batter life went back to normal.
Not sure if its just limited to the r800x/stock2.3.3 or not so just wanted to let every know my findings, kind of curious if anyone had see this before.
Thanks for this advice. I noticed the same thing of lidswitchd using 94% of cpu. my phone was crawling man. which was causing me to loose my mind. I looked all over to find and answer and most said to factory reset. Your solution saved me from punching kittens and choking out puppies

Your signature is violating forum rules. also lagging my pc.
Also to OP.
The lidswitch has a counter that is always counting how many times the device has been slid open and closed. likely the error you see is attached to the counter process having a problem and cpu being increased because of this
very interesting
Seems to have fixed my drain. I noticed it started with 2.3.3. That's when we gained the option, correct?

Dude really? What are you using internet explorer on a Pentium II or something? Welcome to 2012 where you might want to upgrade your computer and use a better browser. My phone can handle this minor gif signature of mine. Anyway back to the topic, I used Titanium to uninstall "Anonymous usage stats" among other things. I wonder if that was the root of the problem.
IE.. LOL... if playing animated gif lags his computer.. I think it's better off for him to use a phone to browse.. trolololol...
anyway, mine running stock, rooted, and never had any battery drain. It's been pretty good so far.
Im on Stock, rooted, running 2.3.3, and I havent had any issues yet either. if im lightly using my phone, i can go almost 2 full days without charging, normal use, i can go about 25-28 hours before plugging in. Heavy use, maybe 12-15 hours. (these are just estimates, i havent actually timed it or anything, but now i might cause im kinda curious now.... lol)
The point is, you're still violating the rules. Regardless of whether it's slowing down his pc or not.

I'll start by saying that the attached pictures say it all folks.
I'm simply at a complete loss as to how my phone can be so awake ALL the time.
If anybody could give me ANY insight as to why it might be the case, I'd REALLY appreciate it.
Also, I can post my alarmdump.txt if anybody wants to see it.
Again, any and ALL help would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to ask me for any more info that might be of use in diagnosing the problem.
That NYC map app seems to be the culprit. As well as the Google Search widget, for some reason.
Uninstall the app, remove the widget, reboot and see if it's much better

im also curious about modem fastdormancy... i froze it because it was a wakelock culprit, but am getting really fast battery drain as well. not sure exactly what modem fastdormancy does tho
http://groups.google.com/group/android-platform/browse_thread/thread/9cb9c3e94da63110?pli=1
So basically, Modem Fast Dormancy = do not freeze. In my understanding, it has to do with the radio and disabling it when not in use, or something to that affect. I haven't studied it, but that's a quick 10 second synopsis from reading that article. I would stay away from disabling it.

Yup bro this is exactly it.
It might be good battery life- but I'm not using my phone at all.
After unfreezing Modem Fastdormancy I've definitely got less unexplained blue in the "awake" time graph. I also froze ADW and that seemed to help.
Thing is, there is still lot of mysterious chunks when my phone is awake.
BetterBatteryStats says Alarm Manager and Event Log services are to blame (top two- represent a substantial percentage of the partial wakelocks and thus time awake).
I'm about to terminal emulator dumpsys my alarmdump.txt, but is there a similar solution for Event Log Services that will allow me to see EXACTLY what's putting it at the top? Only clue it gives is that it's apparently "Google Services."
Past that I've got no clue what it's pointing to.
If I get the Event Log Services fixed, I'd venture to say that would solve a LOT of problems for me.
Thank you guys for everything so far. You laid out some really good and interesting ideas- ones that I definitely wouldn't have thought of.
I'm very, very appreciative, and if it's not too much trouble, bros, KEEP IT COMING!

If I get my alarm manager dump, will that have any or all of the things contributing to the Event Log Services wakelock?
Like I've been saying, it looks like all I need to solve this is some breakdown of the Event Log Services to see what's putting it at the top.

I honestly always had battery issues with cm7 keeping the phone awake. I switched back to Alien ROM an now my battery life is back to normal, around 42hours. I also saw great improvement when I uninstalled Watchdog while I was on cm7 and so thus I have never reinstalled it again.
Well,
Due to this post I checked my Atrix and saw that it wont go to sleep as well, and stay practically always awake. I started using AntTek App manager to freeze some apps that worked all the time (mainly Facebook and an israeli VOD app) and the phone started to go in sleep. I dont know how it will affect the battery life (which is about 16 hours from 100% to ~5%, with data always open), but I will test it for now and report once I have some news...
BTW Im running CM7-Ba2tF, with faux123 enhanced 1.0 Ghz Kernel, and UV.
I was getting horrendous battery life on my new Nexus 7 stock and rooted / custom ROM.
I decided to wipe, install zero apps except Chrome and fire away at the battery. YouTube has streamed 3 hours worth of an HD video and I'm at 72%!!! Nice!!!!
I was using FB and FB messenger, Firefox beta and really that's about it. Needless to say I'll hold off on installing them until they've been optimized with 4.3

I've heard people uninstalling Google Services helps. Might cause issues elsewhere though. I think certain battery savers can limit specific apps from keeping the device awake. Im on CM and my device goes into deep sleep quite often. Like 86% of the time.

A thousand times THIS.
If you really want FB install tinfoil. You lose notifications, but it's FBs garbage constant notification polling that is keeping your device awake.
Not trying to defend Facebook but.... Its not like fb doesn't have the option to turn notifications off. Chat availability off. Refresh interval to never. Messenger location off.
At some point no matter how bad the app is it comes down to user error.

It doesn't matter. I turn that crap off and while it probably helps, FB is always eating up tons of memory and keeping the battery drained.
I use APW Widgets, setup a Facebook widget, and click through to the mobile Facebook page using Next Browser. The Facebook app has some perks over this but using this method, I know its not leeching my contacts and mobile usage.

I believe you as I've had issues like this too with many apps.
What I don't understand is how two people with same hardware, same ROM, install same app, one will have drain and the other doesn't. For example I have FB installed on my N7 2013 and its fine (at least it doesn't pop up in the usage chart if I don't use it).

Using memory doesn't = using battery,
With those settings the device should idle perfectly. Assuming the rest of your set up is well behaved of course.
While your device is up and running the process will run time to time but it shouldn't cause any noticeable battery drain.
Don't get me wrong I can go on and on about all the stupid things that app does but set it up that way and you should not suffer any battery issues / drainage.
Once the MBA and CEO Class got their hands on Facebook it was Game Over .....
Most MBA's and CEO's aren't well enough educated to run a technically/scientifically based operation .... Look what happened to Gateway, Yahoo, Dell and almost happened to Apple in the 90's before they brought the Brains back ....
Google is one of the few that haven't went that route which is why they are leading the pack on most things. .... As long as the Brains of Google keep majority share and thus control of Googler I'll stay invested but as soon as the MBA and CEO Class takes ovber (hopefully never) I'll dump all my Google stock just like I did with Yahoo in early 2000 .....
Just look at the Damage the MBA and CEO Class did in the late 90's (The wrongly named Dot Com Bust) and in 2008 ..... Mainly because they are too poorly educated to work the technology and their insane belief in disproven Economic Theories like Supply Side that falls completely to pieces in the Tech World ....

I would have recommended JD a few years ago.. its victims abandon ware for almost 2 years.. (never updated for ICS let alone JB) you are better off having tasked handle the same functions.. or just removing apps that are poorly writted

I haven't had any need yet on my Nexus 7, but I found Gemini App Manager to be a godsend on my Virgin Mobile phone. I can disable all the Intents that apps believe they ought to wake for and just allow them to respond to me actually running them. Much better battery life and more responsive phone without memory cluttered by all the bloatware that believes it needs to run all the time.

I just picked mine up yesterday and snapdragon was one of the first apps I looked for. Couldn't download because it's "not compatible with this version" I'm on stock BTW...

Not trying to defend Facebook but.... Its not like fb doesn't have the option to turn notifications off. Chat availability off. Refresh interval to never. Messenger location off.
At some point no matter how bad the app is it comes down to user error.
