Everyone someone needs to set up an epic rom bible. I would but i dont have an epic. I keep up with stuff for it for a friend and im tired of going through 10 pages to find a single thing for the phone.

I agree,and people need to stop "coming soon" posts.

a bible for 3 roms and 2 kernels and 1 recovery.... totally.... needed... too much reading
no... the problem is with every swinging **** asking their dumbass questions in the developer section..... includeing this one.... mods should be alot stricter on what is considered "dev talk" and what is considered "general talk"
so... what are you actually contributing to this phone programming wise? oh wait... i thought this was a developer question

ask them in the thread that involves that rom, if someone is going to answer you they can do it there... a new topic for each issue isn't the answer

Sorry, the title should say LEAKED rather than RELEASED (can a mod edit?). It isn't stable, but I thought perhaps the kernel was all we needed? Just saw it was released for those phones. I figured the Sprint one should be close?

Stop asking, this is prolly the 10th thread started asking about this. It wont be ported, at least not easily. The epic is not gonna work either. The only other sgs phone that might be able to port from would be the one on USCC, but they just got their phone released

People get "butthurt", as you so eloquently put it, because there's at least one of these "Omg Froyo got released on another SGS phone" threads posted in development every day. It turns the development forum into a big mess of nonsense that people get tired of looking at.

I believe the search he was referring to wasn't that it was "epic specific" but just that there's a post about a froyo galaxy s release all the time and its been answered a hundred times before that no other will work for the fascinate.

Reason why the fascinate will be last is popularity. Anything gsm will be first!

I would've thought that more people had the Fascinate than the others just because it's Verizon and they're the biggest?

Meh... VZW is US (CDMA) only..and they didn't really advertise it.
They were busy pushing the DX and D2...
The other guys work overseas ... and apparently actually wanted to sell them.
(Though VZW did do a BOGO on the fascinates if you were lucky enough to catch it...)

There was a commercial on TV for the Fascinate from Verizon for a little while. But no, they don't really get attention without the Droid badge.
People, about building Froyo ROMs, there's more to it than just the kernel. Yes, given a kernel, something could be cooked up over time, but the only way to do it quickly is to work from the complete source of a fully functional Froyo ROM that's built specifically for the unique hardware in the Fascinate. Our Froyo will be out soon enough, so just be patient and wait please. If these others were just leaked, ours can't be far behind. ;-)

VZW chick was useless today. For grins I started grilling her on my promised 2.2 update "within a month" when I purchased the phone.
"Oh...it's coming, but we don't know how long it will be. Last time Samsung gave us an update we had to send it back to them because it required a complete system wipe...which just wasn't going to fly."
Actually, I was pretty impressed she knew who made the phone now that I think about it. Most VZW critters I've encountered didn't even have that going for them.

are there any mods in this forum? i mean really..someone needs to merge,delete,help, whatever...or how about a sticky with froyo in the title explaining that it doesnt really mater what sgs(usc?) gets it we wont until its either ota or leaked... can this happen? puhlease

If any question is needed in development it should be related to a specific thread and posted within that thread.

IIRC Bell is also not a US carrier
Stop posting garbage threads about SGS phones on non US carriers getting froyo. It makes no contribution to this forum especially since the Verizon Fascinate forum is now the home to non US carrier Fascinates the Continuum and the Mesmerize. This has nothing to do with our phones. Just stop it. It will be released when its released.

All? That's 2 whole Galaxy S devices, the I9000 and the Bell Vibrant. There are still a bunch more to go before they're "all" getting it.
Still, I do expect AT&T and T-Mobile to follow pretty quickly.

Guys stop having a fit when people post news, I'm all for hearing anything about updates. I'm seriously worried about samsung just not updating the phones anymore while motorola and htc continue to give updates. So thank you for posting this, nice to be reassured.

We don't need anymore, especially a topic that is meant for ANOTHER PHONE. Post it in the damn Vibrant forum. Fascinate users don't care if the other phones are getting 2.2. They only care if their phone gets 2.2

Its always good to keep up on what the carriers are doing as our us carriers may follow suit. And it could help all Galaxy S phones in the end. I signed up just to say that the post was helpful

When did people here become so intolerant with thread topics? This forum is practically dead compared to other sections. We have very little development going on, very little forward movement, so these informative posts are really the only reason I visit here day to day. An incremental update is better than no posts at all, Imo.
This pattern of poster abuse is much more annoying than the posts themselves.

I have really appreciated all the hard work all the developers have done for the epic since I have purchased it in january. I really appreciated Ptfdmedics Roms, in response to that I will share Autism Awareness with the my Incredible 2 community by adding his banner to my Sig. I really did learn a lot from you guys, since I got my epic, I have worked on my fiance's old G1, her current hero, and my best friends EVO. Each one was a challenge in its own respects, and I couldnt have done it without you guys.
I just posted my Epic on Ebay, and will be getting the Incredible 2 here shortly. I am sad to be leaving sprint, but excited to be seeing the quality difference in coverage verizon supposedly has. I am not excited about my bandwidth limitations, since we missed the date for the unlimited amount.

No going flame or call you no named, but thank the devs personally whose work you enjoyed. They will appreciate it, but personally I'm not super interested in the backstory of someone leaving anyway. I'd prefer to read threads about someone who thought they were going to have to leave for whatever reason and were able to stay in our community, imo.

I could write like five or six of these. I have come extremely close to trading this phone off for a shift or an evo. The first couple of times it didn't happen was because the deals fell through. Later on I figured out that i would lose voodoo and that gave me pause. Then EF02 came around and fixed most of my problems.
What later insured that i would stay were Anonymous rom i3 which gave my phone a new lease on life and worked great in almost every way. Lastly, independent tests showed the epic's radio is only slightly worse than most phones and doesn't have major issues like the evo3d and nexus s. I just have bad sprint service in my area.

Thanks all for the best wishes. I would have left input more often and upped my numbers in posts, but I always became side tracked or couldn't remember my log in info. The info I have received from many of your posts has been invaluable.
I sure hope that the Incredible 2 penny sale lasts till tomorrow or Wednesday so I can still place my order, am waiting for my epic to sell or get at least a bid before I purchase my new phone and service.

^^This all day. I have absolutely no problem if someone chooses to leave for other pastures, don't really have any problem with someone who posts about it if/when they do so in the respectful and humble manner the OP did though I myself if it were me would just be gone and leave it at that.
The only issue I ever have with those who say 'goodbye' is those who leave and take the opportunity on their way out to gripe, moan and complain about everything the phone isn't/wasn't for them or everything else negative under the sun and even worse in some cases basically try and tell the rest of us that we're a bunch of ignorant sots for not packing our bags and moving on too. The OP did nothing remotely like that and deserves respect & kudos for the above board manner in which he's moving on rather than flaming (which is against the rules anyway, but its unjustified regardless in this case).

i now have the SGSII, just got it today and loving it, i've also moved to Sprint due to better service plan, annnnd i get a 25% discount on my bill cause of my job, i loved the atrix but it was time to move on to Sprint to help myself out budget wise, but i hope yall get ICS and more roms(hopefully an official version of CM7) it's been great yall

On so many levels, XDA used to be so much different. (AKA a lot friendlier)
The people trolling in threads and others retaliating with profanity is exactly why we are seeing more and more devs leaving.
We need to have more "community" going on around here. If you don't like a thread, please fight the urge to ignore it instead of getting into a flame war.

Agreed. I tried making a thread to get people too come togther and acomplish something for the betterment of our device and of course same deal someone had too come in and run there mouth.
