custom app starter on lockscreen - Wildfire General

i am using cm nightly latest and wanted to setup the custom app starter with the ring i know on the rotary revamped u draged down to start selected app but when i do it on the ring it dont start the app so my question is which way do i drag as i have tried all ways possible.

Have you seen the sense 3.0 lockscreen? It is similar to that. When you touch the custom app starter, the icons of the apps should appear, and you drag the ring over the respective app icon you want to launch. The starter by itself cant launch anything
It'll probably be easier to explain vua screenshot, I'll post one when I get back.

I've only just got my head around how this works! It's pretty awesome. Is there any way to make the status bar drop-down one of the shortcuts so you go directly to notifications after unlocking the screen? I can't figure out a way of doing it currently.
Cheers!

I can give you one to play with if you want. Its a work in progress as far as a full home-replacement app. I am working on making an app drawer, then making everything around that. Like I said, I can make an .apk for you that is a simple grid view that shows all the apps on the device and launches them. There is a random layout animation that plays when the gridView is first called. Just pm me if you would like to try it out

[Q] A Type of Notification Widget

Again, with the knowledge of the Search Engine, I am not able to find any information about this. I have not been able to find anything. I am new to all of this, still in the process of customizing everything.
I would like to hide the status bar because its ugly and all the information I already have on my home screen because of different widgets, I was just wondering if there is any Notification Widgets out there.
Once the status bar is hidden, I can't access the notifications, and if anyone knows of a Widget that allows me to still see the notifications with the status bar hidden. Many thanks.
Idk of any widget like that, and I don't know what launcher you're using, but launcher pro and adw support hiding the bar, and gestures to make it pull down when u need to access it.
I am using adw.... I have it hidden, but I haven't seen anything to make it visible... do you by chance know where that setting is?

A few android question

Hi,
I've been with WinMo since 2001 until about a week ago when I switched to andriod. I have many questions and was unsure where to turn to. I will try here. If there is a better place, please let me know.
I have a Desire Z that I got with ATT 3G bands. I have successfully rooted the device, overclocked it, and installed Cyanogen 6.
1) When I hit the power button, I still have to swipe my finger across the screen to unlock. How do I make it so I don't have to do this?
2) I had some difficulty upgrading to Cyanogen 6 and was unable to get 7 to work. IfI want to mess around further with roms, is there some way I can backup EVERYTHING so if I screw up, I can make my phone exactly the way I have it now without a whole lot of work re-installing stuff, etc.?
3) The link to the phone, app, and browser are all stuck on the bottom of the phone. Can I get rid of this?
4) When laying apps out on the home screen, there seems to be some kind of grid that they are locked into that makes it hard to move them exactly where I want them. It will let me lay them so they overlap each other, but not very close to each other. Is there some way to overcome this?
5) I can't seem to arrange apps close to the top of the screen because the garbage can overlay slides down and when I move the app near the top it thinks I am trying to throw it away.
6) Is there an app that will show both the current weather and an icon for the weather conditions in the status bar?
Wow, a lot of questions...
1, Go to Settings->CyanogenMod Settings->Input Settings and select Trackball wake/Trackball Unlock or Menu Unlock and after that you will be able to select Disable Unlock Slider
2, Try Titanium Backup (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup)
3, As far as I know CM6 uses ADW.Launcher as default launcher. You can change it to LauncherPro (https://market.android.com/details?id=com.fede.launcher) which is fully customisable
4, There is a grid which can't be changed
5, LauncherPro has the trash icon at the bottom
6, Sorry, I didn't find any

Hello Everyone.
I went and found some of these answers on my own. I also was able to upgrade to CM7.
1) I found an app for it but will try PsHeger's solution.
2) I found that the bootloader/Rom manager do a good job of this, too.
3) I was able to remove it in the app launcher rather than using pro.
4) This absolutely pisses me off. I have a Winmo 6.5 phone that lets me have a nice, organized home screen. I can't believe there isn't a better solution to this. Good lord.
6) Go Weather App does this.
if you set your grid settings to 10x10 rows and columns in launcher pro, you can put the icons and widgets pretty much anywhere.

You can try this, but you will need to buy a pro key for laincherpro to strech the widgets or they will look really stuid

I found that the auto stretch check box pretty much solved the problem with layout.

Looking for lockscreen app

im looking for the lockscreen app, like the "pure" android where you slide the bar to to the right. like the htc g2.
I dont wanna buy a lockscreen app from the market.
I got the apk.file for widgetlocker lockscreen but it force closes because it knows i didnt purchase it.
Help me find what im looking for or bypass the widgetlocker lockscreen forceclose thingy please?
Unfortunately, Widgetlocker is the only application I know of to change your lockscreen. No offense to you but you probably sideload a lot of Apps to your phone, knowing all the money you have saved in the past, what's the harm in purchasing ONE app for a change?
Switch to a gingerbread rom like cm it has a lockscreen configuration page. But asking for help with your wares, I'd say is a little iffy.

We aren't to discuss warez on XDA and some developers have taken the option to encode their apps with protocol to verify the legitimacy of the apps

If you want to have an aosp lock screen just go into the system and delete the lockscreen.apk you get the stock lockscreen but there have been known issues of there being transparency. You can see the homescreen even though the lockscreen is there.

You could use desktop visualizer to kind of create icons, where you can choose the icon for application and so on...just take a look at it

Interesting, i have checked it out, going to play with it later (The app!) Then report back.Looks good though, cheers mate
This feature really should be included in sense, very time consuming having to use the app just to remove the text from under the icon.

Well, if you use a a different launcher, like launcherpro or adw, you can use custom icon packs(Suave etc).

Yup, using an alternate launcher in my opinion is the easiest way. There are plenty of themes available, and you can also change individual app icons very easily. I use Go Launcher Ex. It has some really cool transition animations.

I totally agree, HTC, must realise that ALOT of their customers want to tweek Sense more than they currently allow, so they eventually turn to other launchers.
Causing negative feelings towards Sense... as stable as it is!
I also prefer Go Launcher Ex for this, because not only does it allow Icons to be easily changed, but also renaming of apps.
I hate to see names cut off on the homescreen so I change them - for example
Tune In Radio is cut to Tune In... - so I change it to 'Radio'
One solution could be with Folder Organizer App. In Folder Organizer create a shortcut of app you want and simply change the icon. Afther that go to home, add, shortcut, Folder Organizer Item, shortcuts and select the one you created.
