Firmware update?

I am just downloading from Samsung Romania something that they say is an update... But I don't think this is real because it downloads New_PC_Studio... This I found at the Galaxy S download page, firmware section. Could a Firmware Update come through this program?
No, probably not.
It's the same in samsungmobile for our country (Slovenia) and can't even install New PC Studio (running W7 x64), on samsungmobile sites for some other countries you can download Kies via firmware update, but it's some old version.
Samsung has pretty crappy support sites.
PS
Oh and FW update will probably be available only through Kies (said in various samsung twitter accounts, I got the same information in our official service).

Screenshot froyo official update

Samsung has officially released
froyo for galaxy 3 in India
All you need is updated version
of kies installed. and official version
of eclair.
Once you have updated your
existing kies to latest version or
installed latest one available,
while connecting your phone
you’ll get prompt to update
firmware.

This version of the device cannot be updated.

Everything was fine until I updated to KE2 via Kies. Now whenever I connect my phone to Kies I get this message:
This version of the device cannot be updated.
Current firmware version: PDA:KE2 / PHONE:KDJ / CSC:KD1 (XEU)
I have an unbranded, UK Samsung Galaxy S II from buymobilephones.net. I have not rooted or installed any custom ROMs.
I'm using the latest UK version of Kies.
Any idea what the problem is here? I've uninstalled and reinstalled the USB drivers and Kies several times. I was not getting this message a few days ago.
Kies is probably confused because they rolled back and removed the KE2 update from the servers so as far as kies is concerned you are using a rom version that doesn't exist yet. I imagine once they release KE3 in the next couple of days Kies will return to normal.

Ah, makes sense. Thanks for the reply.
Kies says this device cannot be updated = their is NO UPDATE for this device you are already running the latest firmware .
KE2 is the last update so their is no update for your phone .

Not always as simple as that, when kies says "your device cannot be updated" its can be because it doesn't recognise your software version, this can happen when its been pulled from samsungs severs, you have flashed firmware that doesn't match you're csc or you're running a custom rom. Normally when you're running the current official firmware it will show you both your firmware and samsungs as the most recent. If samsung have pulled the latest update it will say you device can not be updated insted of saying you're on the latest version, we will just have to wait for a new update.

Yes thats true but in the users post he showed the latest firmware installed .
Plus i have already had one user posting today that i was wrong when i said much as you just said and with PC Hardware IF etc that do not match what's on the server .
About time Samsung gave Kies to a grown up developer anyway .

My post was because you replied to someone stating that they would no longer be able to update their phone ever again. That is simply not true.

[Q] No galaxy note updates available?

Hi i`m a frequent user of this site and i just love it, thanks to all devs for your great work..
but now i really could use some help have gone trough the note forums over and over again and cant seem to find any information about my note which runs:
pda:kk4/phone:kk5/csc:kk5 (NEE)
This cant be the latest update?
but kies or OTA wont give me any updates..
i live in finland and carrier is (elisa/saunalahti.. if it makes any difference)
ps, already tried to change csc to XEE or XEU which would be the scandinavian and uk codes, but if i change the csc then kies wont recognise the device anymore..
so if you have any ideas or atleast some information about the newest update available and how i would get it then i would be grateful..
Dreaming of the ICS cant wait........
You can update using odin. Go to the android development section of this forum and theres a thread about updating firmwares and such.

Download lies from the country site I changed csc to worked for me. Together with running the connection fix in kies, reboot and running kies in admin mode.
I downloaded kies from the Samsung note page on that country website. Noticed that made a difference to.

Brazilian Firmware Reference

Even though Galaxy Note II (GT-N7100) hasn't landed in Brazilian market yet, here are its firmware references (PCODE/HIDSWVER):
Code:

That info can be used to donwload stock firmware files directly from Sammy server thru Check FUS non-GUI or via its advanced option in GUI version.
I'm going to release "pure" rooted versions (Root it Yourself) of those firmware as soon as I put my hands on SGN2 (better to test them myself before releasing).
I'm working on real-time Update Checker and its website. They will be available soon.
Cheers!
Is it possible to change CSCs? I bought one from TIM, but knowing their update history, I`d like to change to ZTO.
+1 :good:
Just flash the ZTO rom.
