Yahoo Messenger with Video, front camera not working???

I recently noticed that when I use Yahoo Messenger for a video call my front camera is no longer optional. It defaults to the rear camera and I don't have the option to flip it anymore, like I used to. I have a HW003 Evo and it used to work fine. I haven't tried using it for several months, so I don't know if one of the updates changed things or what. Are any of you having the same issue or do both cameras still work on your Evos??
Also, I recently started using the new leaked Gingerbread ROM, so I'm wondering if that has anything to do with it. So if anybody else is using the leaked ROM please let me know if your yahoo video chat works for the front camera too.
Thanks!
think it's the gb rom. i'm still on froyo n it works fine.
Thanks for the response TweetyBear. I have a nandroid backup of a Froyo ROM on my SD, but I didn't want to go thru the trouble of restoring it if I was still going to have the same issue.
confirmed . android 2.3 not for yahoo messenger.
however, QIK has been upgraded . the only downside is no EVO-PC video chat

Yeah, thanks! Hopefully Yahoo will update to support 2.3 soon.
If you still cannot use the FFC in GB and you are rooted, you can apply my mod at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087769
I updated it to add FFC support on GBs.
^^ that works wonderfully!! thanks!

front facing camera,anyone?

What are some of the apps that use front facing camera?
Gtalk does not use it?there is no y!messenger in the market either?
How do you guys use this?
gtalk works for me, but you could probably use fring for video chat
Google Talk uses the ffc just fine, in my experience.
how does one start the camera in talk?
I can see the camera icon against my name but I cannot seem init a video chat session. Am I missing something?

I tried Tango on my Viewsonic GTab and it FC'd something fierce. I assumed it had something to do with missing some of the phone components of Android and haven't tried it on the A500.
Anyone have a good experience with Tango?

if your contact has the camera icon on them it means they support it. And then you simply tap the video icon next to them and BAM, it works.
Works flawlessly and amazing too.
damn it, I have useless friends. No one with video capability!

GTalk does work, I have already had a video chat and it worked great. Have to play again but I think the rear cam works also.
Used GTalk with my netbook the other day and it worked great.

Sorry I made the suggestion for tango without actually testing it out. But to get tango to launch without closing you need to have the iconia in portrait with the rotation lock on. However since I do not have a mobile number for my tablet I don't think tango will work
Your friends probably just need to download the video chat add on for their PC or Mac http://www.google.com/chat/video
If you are trying to chat with someone that is using an android phone I believe video chat in google talk is only built in the newer versions of gingerbread

Your counterpart needs to install video and audio plugin for Gtalk. Just by clicking option for video call (from PC) it will pop up an install screen .

Gtalk PC does support video call ?
http://www.google.com/chat/video?hl=en
http://www.google.com/talk/
so far only web gtalk (so from gmail...) support it
and of course Gtalk Android support
The other person has to be in gmail to do video and if your contacts once they have the plugin there will then be the little video icon I tested the other day with my brother from my iconia using talk to his Acer laptop using gmail chat.. we tried using the Google talk program on his laptop but video option wasn't showing up?

skype video calling working for mytouch 4g

Hi all,
I just want to share what's been shared with me. This is by no means my work I take no credit for this work, only the link I'm going to provide to mytouch 4g family. So i have great news!!! For anyone that uses Skype? We now have the ability to make video calls over WiFi/4g on Skype I can confirm this works for MYTOUCH 4g, the videos are so crisp and clear, way better than any video calling software I've used. So all u need to do is download the apk I've attached to this thread for best results I used my phones browsers so the apk downloaded straight to my phone.
just need to unzip and your ready to go!!! use root explorer or any file manager. DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE SKYPE APP FROM THE MARKET IT DON'T WORK THIS IS A TWEAKED VERSION OF SKYPE.
no file has been uploaded.

what rom did u use? i tried it on cm7 and it doesnt work. i can accept video calls but there is no option for me to call anyone and when i accept a video call when someone calls me i cant see anything i can only hear them
ok i had the one downloaded from the market then i just updated it with that apk so i will uninstall the skype from the market and try to reinstall the skype apk and see what happens.
ok second test and skype worked fine. just had to call the other person cause i couldnt see them. so for cm7 the newest build it works fine but make sure if u have the skype installed from the market to uninstall it first.

ok if u have the the skype installed from the market uninstall it. then installed the apk app on this page the guy put up. then run skype then it should work fine.
Just installed this tweaked version and Skype crashes each time I try to use video. Is it possible that other Skype linked apps could be causing this, such as "Stop Skype"? I have removed the market version of Skype and I am only using this tweaked version. Any ideas?
Thanks,

Same (I am perm rooted via visionary)
I am using the stock rom. I have yet to reboot the phone since I installed the tweaked version. I will try that and go from there.
Edit: Reboot. No go. Uninstal/reinstall. No go. Now going for clearing it out entirely and adding the apk file again.
So, after all this I am to take it that my phone needs to be rooted? Dangit!

Nice - the only feature I missed.

Anyone know why Transformer is not listed as working on the market listing, yet it works?
Why is everyone ignoring the best-selling Android tablet, yet always talking about the lesser spotted Xoom and Tab?
OK I tried the video call and it's buggy. it keeps showing pop up on the taskbar. n video from ny side sometime won't show . that's why it's not listed in white list.

I'm having trouble with it as well. No video call option and it keeps coming up in the task bar that skype is signed in. Trying now to clear data and reboot.
*EDIT: Stupidity is the cause of my problems. Anyone else who is not thinking this morning make sure you are at the main menu in skype and do the following
Menu->Settings
Make sure "Enable video calling is checked"
Works flawlessly now.

Just got the update as well..."What's New" says 14 additional devices whitelisted for video calling.
What's in this version:
14 additional devices whitelisted for video calling.
Video calls now supported in portrait and landscape. Double-tap to zoom.
Revised Recent view - conversations now grouped around your contacts.
Improved support for Bluetooth headsets.
In-client advertising. (Advertising will not be shown to users that have Skype Credit, a Calling or Skype Premium subscription.)
It is possible to edit and delete IM messages.
Skype will no longer restart in the background when you sign out.
The following devices have also been white-listed for video calling in this release:
Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (T-Mobile)
HTC SHOOTER (KDDI)
Sony Ericsson Xperia Live with Walkman

Acer Iconia Tablet (A500)
LG Optimus Black LANDSCAPE ONLY

true! skype video calling works for me too.
it works! the quality is not as good as on my laptop... but it works.
just the "enable video" option can be enabled only when there is no active conversation.
Sweet, been waiting for this since I got the tab. Damn annoying the way it used to restart in the background all the time. Says it has been fixed, I hope so.

The video calling works for me now, but the only issue im having is that i cant control the volume of which the voice from the other person is played. Even if i plug in my headphones i still cant contol the volume. iIs anyone else having this issue?

Im seeing an issue where whenever I send a message, I get the notification "Skype has signed in" which causes video chatting to not work, as its constantly signing in and out...
wifi signal strength was good at the time
currently using HoneyVillain 1.2 with Thor's 3.5 kernel
How do I make video call? I enabled video call under the Skype setting. but don't know how.

-Mic volume has always been an issue, i've nevet been able to adjust it. Not sure if there is a fix available.
-As for video, check the thread of the rom you are on. If it's the same as mine (rooted 3.2 something...) There is a fix in the second post. The problem was with the certs in the rom. Flash the fix, and video will work.

I tried flashing that fix, and the ZIP wouldn't work in CWM. I have a video option in Skype, but when I start a video call, the video flashes for 2 seconds and then reverts to a voice-only call.
Is it solely because I'm on a custom ROM?
