What problems? Miui is a skinned CM7. Granted they have done some additional tweaks but it is still a CM7 base.

The very first day I downloaded it, it locked up over night and I missed my alarm the next morning.
I decided to give it another try, and then ADW launcher crashed about 15 times. BLN doesn't work, even with the new matrix kernel.
MIUI is a gorgeous app. I set it up the exact same as I did with oxygen or cm7, I don't dig the iOS look, but thankfully this is android, so it's customizable.

Problems with cm7 and miui is slower than bugless beast beta. Frozen bubble plays faster in bb and not oc
I like miui alot. But not having 4g is a big no no. I get a cool 1.4mb/sec on 4g. Can't deal with sprints horrendous 3g speeds. If it did have 4g I'd be torn between cm7 and miui. But...

Sounds like it was due to the kernel you installed.
Roms don't affect BLN only kernels do(its baked into the kernel). Unless you turn notifications off.

Of course they do. Neither is a minimalist rom. No other rom can offer the extra features without it.

For me they were both kernels that came with the roms.
I hated miui for the longest time when I had my Evo, but really grew to enjoy it since early September.
The theming capability and launcher transitions really make that rom a unique android experience (no 4G in Dayton, Ohio, so not missing anything there).
Miui is the ONLY android rom that has significantly departed from the standard layout and configuration and I can appreciate that.
I've had the NS4G for little more than a week and am currently running NScollab (which has been flawless), but will almost certainly flash miui at some point. My only hesitation is that the Nexus is nearly perfect as-is and I don't have much motivation to change anything on it

What? The OP was a hypothetical question - miui doesn't have 4G support since the Chinese have very little 4G coverage... Kinda like sprint in America ha.
I have no use for Wallet, 4G, and little use for voodoo or BLN (although I do utilize the latter somewhat).
I'll really be sold on miui if they can entirely rid the rom of random Chinese characters. Drives me nuts.

I went back to Oxygen with Matr1x.
Everything is working flawlessly.
Bulletproof MIUI appears to have 4g. The icon in the status bar changes from "3G" to "H" on my ROM, and I get speeds of about 4mbps on average. When I lived in SAT, I got speeds of 8mbps on my G1, which makes these speeds kind of sad, but they're still better than some 3G speeds on other devices near SLC (where I live now).

Even if it were available to me right now I would still use CM6.
No 4G is worth the sacrifice for a fast running ROM... but I can't want for a CM6 with 4G!
Once you have 4g, you will never want to go back to 3g, the speeds are so much better in every app that uses any kind of data.

CM6 is a great ROM but 4g can be had without sacrifice in Fresh or Baked Snack.
Swyped on my EVO
One of the things I liked the most abt CM6 is, modificable power control widget (add or take what you want on it), quick keyboard responsiveness, um can't think of anything else. I normally flash Fresh (3.2.0.0 donate version off HTC's latest 3.28.651.1 build with a MUCH IMPROVED stable and battery saving kernel by HTC, BIG IMPROVEMENTs over Kingklick's kernels! I mean BIG!!!)
When I feel like it, I switch to CM6 to toy around...when it comes to business and stability, I like Fresh (wish there was a senseless version of Fresh!)

If you know how to use a computer you can do it. It looks more intimidating than it is. If you're still on 2.1 use Simple Root (doesn't get any easier). Froyo is a little more lengthy but its not hard. Just read through the tutorials a few times and it won't seem so bad. Sorry to jack the thread.

i will be switching to cm6 once 4g is working. i suppose if i lived in some backwoods area that has no 4g i wouldnt mind not having 4g, but man 4g really helps when doing things on the phone that require lots of data. not only that but sometimes 3g can get so damn saturated that speeds are terrible, usually happens at concerts or places where there are lots of people, i just switch to 4g and bam im good haha.
Phoenix isn't backwoods and Sprint doesn't offer 4G here....

I gave in last night and after 2 weeks of telling myself it wasn't worth the risk of bricking my phone, I rooted it and installed CM6 Stable. It is a great rom, luckily the 4G for me is 2 hours away and I get great 3G coverage so its not a big deal. I saw they made the front page on Engadget today it seems like I jumped aboard at the right time.
I've had my Epic for about a few days now and I'm starting to feel like I made the wrong choice. I chose mostly on the hardware, than the software. The battery drains like the phone has a hole in it, the TW UI is just bad and I can't use the regular launcher. I'm sure this phone would be better with pure android. So what should I do? ROMs, Kernals, etc. Thanks in advance!

There's definitely a nice selection of Kernels and ROM's available, take a look at the development section, read through some of the features of the different ones available, and see if you find one you'd like to try.
In the end, whether you keep the phone or return it for a Nexus, is all up to you... none of us can really answer this for you, because we all have different wants and needs in our phones.
And fwiw, software side of this phone can be easily modified/customized, so if you're happy with the hardware, then perhaps you should look into the software customization.

A good tip to remember...if you do go the custom ROM route, some have no journaling. If you choose one of those, make sure you power down phone completely and don't let battery die or you will get force closes out the arse. If this my be an issue for you, get a ROM with journal on or flash the journal on mod after flashing the ROM.

Syndicate Rom. It's absolutely awesome and very few bugs with almost all features working that I have noticed. Turns the Epic into the EPIC!!!!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Go with SyndicateROM Frozen. The 1.1 version needs updating ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1091680 ) on the ClockworkMod. The 1.2 version ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131544 ) requires the latest ClockworkMod ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115999 ). You need to flash modem to EC05 with Odin.
What I did was flashing modem to EC05, put the first CWM on the phone, then installed SynROM Frozen 1.1. After that, I updated the CWM, then updated to 1.2. I think the 1.2 is not full package (?) and upgrade from the 1.1 (?). Rodderik will update the 1.2 version with latest CWM. You can either wait for that update or continue with the steps that I did toward the 1.2 version.
Edit - SynROM Frozen 1.1 comes with ClockworkMod included. When you get it installed, just update the ClockworkMod (what I did was using the flash method with Odin) then upgrade to 1.2 version.

You had it partially right. Hardware is paramount simply because you can replace the software with better software but you can't replace what drives it. Root your phone with the new purple CWM and then give the Syndicate rom a try. What kernel you choose for it depends on your phone since they each take to certain kernels differently. I am personally using the second to last version of the Genocide kernel and voltage control with great results.
Think of the rom as a car's body that you can choose to option and the kernel as its engine.
I prefer Go Launcher over Launcher Pro and Handcent over all the others available.
If you want incredible battery life download an app called DataSwitch by TomatoX.
Make sure to enable journaling too.

I thought the same thing when I first started using tw... If your taking about the launcher I won't argue. But the rest of tw is pretty good. Built in task manager that clears ram, the dialer is dope. Contacts list is very functional, U can swype right on a name to call our left to txt. Also easy to navigate if u have alot of contacts. Hold your finger on the right in portrait mode to jump through letters, than if, lets say you know alot of T's when u get to T, slide your finger to the left and you can sort by the second letter (feel free to say thanks). If your in to facebook the buddies now and whatever other things are built in to the tw launcher (though if u change launchers you lose those widgets) activities in contacts links your fb friends, the... Does... And u can... With... And so on and so on and so on... theres alot to learn that u wrong in a few days... I've had mine since release day and I just found out... Yesterday... long story short, u only get one chance to trade ur phone in. Use the whole 30 days before u decide
P.s. u can change your screen brightness by long pressing the notification bar and sliding left to right. But u gotta have auto brightness turned off (thanks ↓)

The main things I'm waiting for are GPS and WiMAX. I'll be waiting a while for the later.
I do a decent amount of traveling for my job, and rarely to the same place twice, so GPS is pretty handy.
WiMAX sure beats 3G for tethering. Airport wifi is quite annoying. Plus my favourite coffee shop has a funky router that the following devices of mine have NOT worked on:
Toshiba Satellite w/ Windows 7
Apple Macbook Pro with 10.6.8
Google CR-48
Epic 4G
T-Mob G1
I've complained to no avail. I can go without 4G for a while, but I don't think CM will be a full replacement for me until it has WiMAX support.
All of that said I'm thankful for the development we have had. When I install Cyanogen on my Epic I'm reminded of how fantastic CM6 was on my G1. The things that work work perfectly, the phone zips around, the battery holds up, the Epic port has had some very solid development and we should all remember to be thankful for what we have rather than hold unreal expectations.
Ditto. Its hard to leave 4G because I have had it since launch day of this phone. Its what 5x faster? Overclocking Cyanogen with Tegrak makes it fast as can be but when downloading anything or connecting to XDA app,etc you can really feel the difference in data speed

I find miui simpler than cm7. I loved cm7, but once I themed out miui and got used to it u can't beat it. Theming is better than cm7 no doubt. Especially lock screens (awesome awesome). It FLIES on Mtd too..and really not buggy at all. Any bugs r minor and easily fixable and nothing greater than wut cm7 has. Transforms ur whole phone and ui. Cm7 is still very android-y, not that that's bad, but not TOO different. Also miui stock launcher is amazing, and the status/notif bars are more customizable and nicer.
Omair..U want to get an idea of what we're running ass-to-mouth? I don't see how that's relevant...but I think I get it..

Tw
I am apparently using TW since I am using CleanGB. I also switch between it and ThunderHawk.
has anyone tried this rom, and i wonder why is this not on xda, looks like such a wonderful rom i mean wow especially the drop down notification toggles

I'm running it now.... its probibly the best pics rom I've tried. The toggles are awesome and very original and you hide and show them with the quick settings button in the drop down. No dialer lag. No lag at all. Pure awesomeness

If that's the 4g than yes lol. I'm using matrix 14.0 right now and its very smooth. Can't account for battery life much cause this is first day using it.

wouldn't download from my phone either, I had to do it from my computer.
I've been running this for a couple days now. And its freaking awesome. One of the more original roms that are around. I really like the toggles in the notification. Took me a minute to find them tho. I flashed this twice before I figured it out. I haven't had any issues at all. Except for the occasional browser crash but I've got that with every ics rom. To download on your phone try requesting desktop page, or use opera mobile. I'm hanging on to this one for a while. If only I could get the on screen buttons.

+1 me too. I'd do it myself but my computer crapped out on me. It would be awesome if someone edited the framework for it.

I typically use Pete's ROMs, because I like the vanilla experience. I've heard some good things about this ROM though, so I'm considering it. How "vanilla" is it?
As a gauge, I think CM7 is far too "bloated". No hate, just personal preference.

Since I have seen the Nexus devices confused in this thread I hope this helps.
i9020T - SAMOLED GSM with AWS bands for T-Mobile's 3g.
i9020A - SAMOLED GSM with ATT's 3g bands.
i9023 - SLCD GSM sold in some European countries.
D720 - SAMOLED CDMA and WiMAX for Sprints 3g and 4g networks. The D720 is the only Nexus S model to carry the 4G tag as its the only nexus s with 4g.
Hope that helps clear the confusion.

hey buddy can you please add this rom in the development section, i am sure it will become the most downloaded rom especially those notification widgets wow ...
and plus it would be easier for all your rom users to interact and ask for help under one thread .. can you ? or allow someone else to post it and give credit to u
