[Q] can't lock the screen - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so I finally got the cm7 running of my uSD card and am in the process of tweeking and making setting that i want and like. I really like a lock screen of some sort and can't get it to work. I can get into the setting and set it up but no matter what I've tried It doesn't seem to need a lock screen after its woke up.
I'm using nightly 217. any ideas?
disregard. I found it

Disable automatic Today screen?

Does anyone know how to stop the Today screen activating when the device turns off/on? I often turn my Nike off when I need to do something else for a moment and I'd like to be able to immediately return to what I was doing without going to the Today screen and then into the Start Menu. Even worse if it's something under Settings I have to go through the menus.
I don't understand very well the problem, do you mean that, when you are in any screen, turn off the screen and turn on again it's in the Today screen?.
In my device that doesn't happens, if i turn off/on the screen, the device remains in the application, form, etc.. that I was.
Mine does the same as the guy above me .. only using sliding actions i go back to today screen
btw since I've installed sliding actions .. my phone connects to internet everytime I receive message or have had a phone call
dekoning, I used to have the Today screen activate on slide as well. I use Slide Actions to disable all slide actions. It didn't take the first time, but after a few tries it now is working perfectly.
After using MortPlayer, I've figured out that the Today screen is activated whenever the screen turns on.
carlosmozas, what ROM version are you using?
I had to hard-reset my device at the beginning of the year and this issue was gone. But it came back! It started happening last weekend, I don't have a clue what I changed to cause this.
I don't want to hard-reset again!

Maybe setting up device new and creating a backup (Sprite Backup or similar) is faster than locating the problem itself

double locking? phone still locks with s2u2 - RESOLVED

Yesterday for no particular reason at all (haven't made a change to my phone in months) my phone now is locked by the default built in lock (the unlock + press the screen or * one). I normally use S2U2 but its kinda weird to slide unlock it then have to unlock it again. I'm kind of frustrated. In trying to fix it this morning I decided to upgrade my S2U2 since it was old. So I uninstalled the old one and installed the latest one. It didn't change anything. Does anybody know why this may be happening? It is only happening when I hit the power button, not on normal timeout lockouts. I am assuming there is some kind of setting in the registry or somewhere I can change but I haven't seen anything. I've played with the options under settings --> system and all to no avail. Anybody got any tips?

Whew - got it fixed. Somehow an option in HomeScreen++ was enabled.

Screen stays on after notification recieved.....

What am I doin wrong ? Time out is set at 15 sec.
EDIT: Solved by using different SMS app. Email app works fine
nope.....email works, sms works, not missed call keeps phone awake all the time....
am i the only one ?
I had this problem... Had to reboot the phone.
I have noticed times when my screen was on. When I tried to determine why it seemed that I had received a mms over two minutes prior. My screen timeout is thirty seconds. I have since rebooted and will see if it makes a difference.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I've rebooted numerous times since I've gotten the phone. I prefer the stock messaging app and don't want to *have to* use something else to make it work right.
Any other ideas?
Looks like this is one of the bugs on the phone.....
Thank god all bugs are software related so far. With nexus it wad mostly hardware/software things
I think I figured it out (at least for me)...
I disabled the "puzzle lock" thinking it would be a pain in the neck when trying to unlock the screen. Come to find out, disabling it is what is leaving the display on when receiving a text. Enabled the puzzle lock, and the display comes on for a sec or two and then shuts off when I get a message.
I prefer very few steps to get where I wanna go. I don't like passwords or codes when unlocking my screen so I disabled it. Either way, though, I have swype the screen to unlock it so it's not a big deal to have the puzzle lock on...

Help! Several major issues on 4.3 (home button, SIM, lock screen)

My N4 was away to repair a broken screen. Got it back on Wednesday and it immediately updated to 4.3. All was well, except for one weird issue where hitting a notification from the pull down would take me to the app via the pattern lock. I put this down to having played with some lock screen settings in Setting Profiles app (trying to disable it in certain settings), but it might not have been.
I've done the first device restart today, and after rebooting there are a few big issues.
1. I don't appear to have any mobile network, though wifi is connected. I had a good signal before the reboot.
2. I'm not getting a lock pattern or any lock screen at all, and it's not asked for the SIM pin
3. Hitting a notification in the pull-down makes the 'lock' clicking sound as it takes me to the app
4. The home button doesn't work. I see a slight dim of the screen and it makes the lock click sound, but nothing happens. Back and multitask work fine
Help! Any ideas? Are they known issues? Can't seem to find any reference online.
I'm on stock, using Nova Launcher

Those are not any known issues or anything I have read since Andrid 4.3 came out. Try a factory reset to see if that solves the problem. If not, maybe the screen wasn´t the only thing broken on your device. Ask for warranty.
Thanks, will see how I get on this evening and try a factory reset if it doesn't fix itself.
Seems to be a weird problem related to the lock screen and when it should/shouldn't kick in...

Glad I could help.
Ok, I've done a factory reset. Not had much chance to play as it took hours to reinstall everything. But I've just had the word issue where selecting something from the notification tray (the setting profiles shortcut) took me to the lock screen to put in my pattern first, then took me to the app.
EDIT no pattern to when it does it, seems random and can be while I'm using the device, so the lock screen shouldn't kick in for any reason
Any ideas? Faulty device?

Lock screen disappeared, can't get it back.. [solved]

EDIT: IT WAS QUICK SETTINGS; I AM RETARDED.
I'm running CM 10.2 nightlies. However, nobody else on the same version is reporting this problem:
In settings > screen security: set to 'Slide'.
I have tried Pattern and PIN, as well. Nothing brings the lock screen back. When I turn on my screen, it goes straight to whatever was on the screen when I turned the screen off.
What could be causing this? I've tried several different nightly versions. Profiles are disabled. I've tried looking through settings many times, and googling, to no avail..
I know it's not a solution but you could try a lockscreen replacement in the meantime like widget locker or milocker?
Thanks for your reply, but I'm actually trying to determine the cause of this specific problem of the CM lockscreen...
