Thanks...
Go stand in a freeze for a few, its about to get really hot in this thread.

I think you can use ChopSuey-v.9.2.7-UNIVERSAL from forum
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232127
I've been using Freedom 0.9 Less lately. It's been a solid performer. No complaints.
I'm now running mikrom 2.60 and chopsuey latest experimental with hdmi mirroring and its awesome. Much better then sprint lovers 2.3.3 Rom.

Everyone has better luck then others when it cones to combinations of rom and kernel. Your going to have to test for your self. Me personally I'm running ee with mix up and this is the most stable for me.

By asking a question your are not developing anything now are you contributing to developing anything. Just some fyi.
The kernel effects battery life the most. I'm getting 9hrs with heavy use. My screen us on for at least 6 hours of that 9

There is no egotistical attitude. I'm just tired of reading there same question over and over. Go threw all the threads and see how many times people asked for froyo or said froyo is coming soon. What's the best rom kernel combination ect ect ect...... The answer is always the same. If people learned to read and search before asking a question this forum wouldn't be full of ****. I understand everyone has questions but 95% of the questions can be resolved with a search and some reading.

im seeing a few 2.2.1 roms on the android development vibrant forums, and i'm wondering what you guys think about it.
i'm currently running eugene's deadhorse test34, and kb1 modem, with original bionix v, and it's working the way i want it. gonna get a ffc eventually, but don't have the money for it right now.
is the difference between 2.2 and 2.2.1 worth the data wipe? or just keep rolling with a 2.2 rom?
****i actually meant for this to be in vibrant Q&A, move if necessary*****
Theres a2.2.1? WHERE?!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=952910
I didn't notice any real difference other than slightly better battery life.
psh 2.2.1....
Cm7 ftw

Where can I get cm7 for the vibrant? That's the 2.3 one, right? Is it fully stable and include a working 2.3 kernel(with bln)?

2.2.1 offers hardware accelleration and fixes a few bugs.

are you saying that this wipes the internal or external sd card?
--i though it just wiped data (of course like most roms) and wipes the laucher pro backup?
You wont see an appreciable difference. I'm happy with 2.2 and will probably only switch roms if the next point releases based on 2.2 source are particularly compelling. I've tried a few 2.2.1 roms, but they've all been built with i9k source so they've got their quirks. Definitely usable but the little problems amount to a rom that can be annoying to use daily.

Look in the q and a section of vibrant. It has a working vibrant kernel and scrizz has the flashable modem. Everything works fine, cept for the home and search button but there's an app to put it on the home screen. All support you need is in scrizz's thread in general section. Running it now, its the fastest thing I've ever used.

It might help to flash a custom kernel that supports voodoo control. Be careful not to boost the volume too much and blow the speaker. As with all mods, once you depart from stock there is a risk of screwing things up, especially if you don't what you're doing.

There is, but I don't suggest using it... it is easy to root the phone, just look up the guide and have fun. It's fun to figure out how to do stuff.
I have not heard of anyone being charged for tethering, but it does not tether 4G.
Download voodoo control from the market (requires a custom kernel, I suggest matrix kernel), it can raise the sound level.
have fun!
Matrix kernel is the best? Or which is the best

What are the main differences between the two? I know Mikeyinid's stock(ish) rooted rom comes with Matr1x because they work well together from what I gather.

Both support bln, voodoo, overclock up to 1.4 MHz, and undervolt (for better battery and less stability).
Netarchy supports several additional features, such as touchscreen sensitivity tweaks if you tweak the config files. See the OP for the full list of features.
Matr1x runs at 1.2GHz by default (i.e. without changing the settings in Set CPU). It includes a custom boot animation, which you can change back if you like. Overall, it seems to be more stable, a bit smoother, and better for battery life. Compactness, stability, and battery life seem to be higher priorities to the dev than adding exciting new features. It is less tolerant of undervolting, if that's a concern. Turn off things such as wifi and 4g before flashing, to avoid issues.
Both devs are phenomenal, and I don't think you could go wrong with either. James Bond is also quite popular. For either, cfs seems to be slightly more stable than bfs for most people.
Note: Put the flamethrowers down. These are my own personal opinions and observations. YMMV
Matr1x kernel is very good i use it as my daily, if i were you i would just try them all and see which you prefer.
I have heard nothing but great things from both devs and their followers. I will probably try Matr1x first because it comes with Mikeyinid's rom already and his rom is about what I am looking for.

I'm running EVOlvedROM r3charged Final and I was wondering what is the best kernel to use with this ROM. The golden monkey kernel is ok but was just trying to find out if there is a better one for this ROM.
Well everyones phone is different you would have to see for yourself and try each of them out. I liked chops that one was pretty good imo. Good luck finding the right one.

Your options include stock, golden monkey, chop suey (my favorite =P) and freedom if you're on a gingerbread ROM. Hope that helps.
In the future please ask your questions in the question boards as there is nothing being developed here. XDA tries to keep these development boards development related only. Cheers.
When I had this Rom on my phone I would use chopsuey 9.2.7. Very stable and hdmi mirroring as well. I've used several other kernels, but this is my favorite.

Just finished rooting my Evo 4G for the first time and was wondering about the different ROM available. I haven't rooted since i had my Hero a year ago. I had fresh on my Hero and loved it. However I mainly use launcher pro and wanted to get away from a sense based ROM as I wanted to use full HDMI out and bluetooth HIDS and from last time I heard a bug in sense prevented this..is this still correct?? I was looking toward CM7.
So does anyone have any recommendation to start off with?
Thanks,
-Stephen
Sense does have the broken Bluetooth stacks, yes. So AOSP-wise? Whenever I actually use AOSP, I use MIUI with latest Tiamat kernel. People complain about no 4G and how it looks like an iPhone, but it is so customizable and it has some great devs.
Other than that, I would suggest SalvageMod or Deck's.
MIUI>SalvageMod>Deck's. All with the latest Tiamat.
But I am a Sense guy, so you know.... Full HDMI mirroring works on Sense with latest Freedom and Chopsuey kernel, if you are interested.
And if you need a refresher, check out my guide in my signature. It is written for Sense but it should apply universally.

Amon Ra by far

My recommendation would be Team Nocturnal Xplod 1.2 with Tiamat 3.37, it has bewn very smooth for me and AOSP

My recommendations :
CM7.1.0
ICS themes from market (both cm7 and adw.)
Set screen density to 200.

i recommend amon ra, and if you are interested in learning about aosp roms/kernels click on the link in my sig it's a guide that will explain it all to you with download links to all the roms and download zips to all the kernels. and if you need help installing your rom/kernel i put a link there to a guide for that
Thanks everyone,
I'm gonna start w/ CM7 stable. A few quick questions. What would be the best kernel to go with this. Something to increase battery, trickle charging.
Also do i need to flash a radio with this??
I went with Decks. From what I read it is a striped down version of CM7. What are the main differences? whats has been removed?

Decks is the way to go with aosp roms. I read people praising salvaged zen all the time, but I always have issues when charging my phone on that kernel. I go with.Tiamat. I like the idea of an aosp rom that is still being updated.

The one thing i can say i didnt like about Cm7 is the way it links contacts .. sense is amazing at linking contacts

yea the contact link is the 1st thing i noticed. Don't like it at all but i can deal with it. Main reason I'm going w/ AOSP is to use bluetooth HIDs, as sense doesn't allow this.

I just flashed the tiamat kernel. went w/o SBC as i have read that can be risky. Do I need to adjust any settings to help with battery life or does the kernel take care of that? Should Id be using setCPU?
