[Q] POV Mobii + Modaco R8 + working gps? - Vega General

I have POV Mobii with 3g and gps.
I found Modaco R8 perfect rom for me. But how to make GPS working again?
Propably by cooking.
1) Extraction of drivers and seting from mobii rom.
2) Integration in Modaco R8.
But i don't have any experience with cooking. I don't know what i have look for etc. I would like to ask you for help. If somebody cook it for me and other mobii users i would be very grateful.
I know that external gps is better but integrated is one of reasons why i bough this tablet.
PS> I appologize for my terrible english.

R8 is based off old firmware, if you want to stick with 2.2. Try corvus5 sp1 rom, i think that has gps support. Not a great deal of point adding new features to such a old rom.
Peace.

I have found Ganbarou ROM V1.1. I will try it tomorow.
2.2 is fine for me at this moment. 3.2 is still in development and 4 on the way.

POV Mobii 7
I am using the same device except that mine has no gps and its resistive touchscreen
Still, im looking for a custom rom for my Mobii 7
Did you have any luck on this?
Happy Easter

Nice Rom . Fast, stable
Thank Thank , I love this.
I'm completely new on this (forum and rom installation). This rom brings no extra software like registry hacks and such's? Is it recommended for someone who never did such a thinks as installing a non official rom? (like me )
is the messages like a chat box, like in xplodes roms
is this a stripped down version of xplodes latest rom ? (because it´s the same build)
well everyone can port a rom if they have the knowledge, it is not needed to be my rom, i havent included any RGU's inside so ot will be hard to strip down my rom
@rickwyatt nice to have another rom cooker on board, keep up with the good work
it will be nice to have more info added on your rom as the oem software included
Best wm 6.1 rom
I think this is the best rom, light, fast and stable. Please do not abandon this project. Thank you rickwyatt.
The Link doesn't works...
Can you put another Link, RapidShare is garbage......Thanks wyatt to share us your work....
Great ROM
Very fast and stable. I installed it after my bluetooth headset and GPS didn't work with Xplodes 6.1 ROMS. The bluetooth stereo works great and WMP works without any problem. Haven't tested GPS yet.
GPS work good.

GPS works in Xplodes, too
Bluetooth wakeup
Hi ricky, thanks for new ROM mate.
I thought Xplods latest ROM 5.2.19.209 had solved the problem where the BA wakes up from power off randomly when bluetooth is on.
However this ROM still has this problem.
Is this true?
thanks again.
i just test the rom, and it look really good.
but why you include this strange file explorer, i think it´s a basic rom ?
Ricky:
Works well. I've been playing with it for a week. Not bad at all.
Thanks

'retail' spec HD Rom release?

having had far to many issues with 'cooked' roms (laggy, loss of features from running the latest and greatest), are there any ROMs out there that are 'release' spec ready?
what i mean by 'release' spec is:
- proved reliable drivers (data connections works 100%, without workarounds)
- reliable software builds (eg, no software thats buggy or loss of features)
- slick and fast (Duttys' Leo R6 (buggy) and Orange 1.59 (old versions) ROMs are both very fast)
wm 6.1 or 6.5 isnt an issue, i'd *like* manila 2.5/2.6 but i dont beleive there is a reliable released build of it yet.
the OrangeUK 1.59 rom i've found to be the best at the moment - quick and no laggyness, 100% functional, and 'full fat' with AS, office, and all the usual apps.
i'd cook my own rom, but i wouldnt have a clue where to get resources from, or even how to cook them into a rom.

Open source rom ...

Hello to everybody, Acer S200 users, how could you understand our device is now obsolete (we are now in Legay devices, too) and our cookers seems to have stopped cooking, in practice is all stopped.
Now: there are 2 thinghs: sell our devices to buy a new one or know that your phone will no longer receive updates in future.
So, I propose to unite our forces ( and minds) and build an open source rom, where everybody can do all that he want with his own rom, but to achieve this we need a lot of collaboration...
WHO IS WITH ME ???
To be honest. i dont feel the need to get further updates... brainmasters clean rom with srs wow hd registry tweaks, tweaked version of mobile shell, igo primo etc etc.
Our roms are stable and we have the options to have several ui s even sense... so im fine I own my Neotouch since one year now and im still contended, i'll keep it as long as it runs
Windows mobile in general is dead, which is a pity, as it is still a mighty os and im actually wondering what you try to improve due to further roms, with brainmasters roms or arto's roms we can call our neotouch maxed out
P.S. and ill stick with WM as long as other OS wont offer any comparable gps programs like IGO for windows mobile...
The Rom are already there, but in my opinion should be developed Android
Maybe you haven't understand the levels that I want to reach... I can only tell you that with some benchmark I found original rom about 30 % faster than cooked one and this is anomalus because cooked rom normally are even better than official ones...

Hi Euplio, Stefano has already released the Kitchen for Acer S200. I have downloaded it and customized it for all of my ROM's. Why don't you do it also?
Everything you need is on this forum - Stefano's Kitchen, newest SYS Builds, OEM Packages, Manila Packages. You just need to invest time, find and put everything together.
You had a plenty of time to do that since you also cook your own ROM's.
So, why don't you start, and the people will support you.
If you only ASK and don't DO anything, then you will ACHIEVE NOTHING.
If you need some help, I can always look into Forum to help you.
hmmm
maybe we can collect all sorts of packages (exts) and make a repository of packages for cooking. as far as i am concerned, the chefs here have done the best possible. i have cooked roms from arto, kubino and brains roms on all 3 of my s200.
So c'mon I'gonna start making ultra-light rom good base for spb mobile + "DROID PRO+ 2.2 by DOC3000 & MSKIP" http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833941 because I find it the best alternative to the htc sense, what do you think?
Hi guys my ultra-light rom is now finished, I need beta testers...
Where is the thread with this rom???? is it in Italian ????
Post more information...

yes, i'm interested to test your ROM but I don't know what I have to do exactly...
I'm interested to test your ROM.I was a beta testers of the 3.5 rom Stefano.

Vega vs DVC p10

Hello there!
I have bought a tablet, its name is DVC P10 (I wanted to place a link but it is impossible for me, as I am new in the forum, but if you look for it in myefox dot com you will see it)
its code name, is P10AN01, so i have found that the Advent Vega is also a P10AN01.
Do you know if the ROMs for the Vega, could work in my tablet? i would say that these two are clones.
thanks for the info!
Because your tablet has 3G, I'd say it was more closely related to the POV Mobii. These roms work on the POV but there's little or no support for the 3G hardware.
But the good news is, you can flash any of these roms, play for a while and then flash back to stock if necessary (make sure you can get a copy of the stock rom first or install CWM and do a nandroid backup of the stock rom)

thank you mudcruzr!
so they could work, do someone now if g-tablet of viewsonic rom works on this one?
I have read that the vega and G-tablet are almost the same... I know this is not the viewsonic forum, but i don't want to open a new port there!
thanks a lot!

Does this look like your tablet?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13838102#post13838102
And if so, is there any way you could backup the launcher / ui?
Thanks
I still don´t have it;
the day it arrives I will tell you. but based on the videos I have seen on the web, that should be the launcher for my tablet. I will try to take the APK from the tablet the day it arrives;
cheers
Thank you so much, I hope it can be done
That seems to be the same launcher that is installed on the POV Mobii. I have VegaComb running on mine atm, but you can grab the firmware here and unyaffs the included system.img: http://downloads.pointofview-online...rmware upgrade/Tegra Tab Update_v1.10_pov.exe
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
Thank you so much Unfortunately I don't have the slightest clue how to extract the launcher from the system.img file? :-(
It's already available
The 3D desktop from the POV is available already.
I can't post links here yet but go to android.modaco.com, goto the vega forum and look for the "3D Desktop plugin" topic
but by all accounts it's very pretty but quite useless.
