im running android on my htc hd2, but some apps, on the market tell me...this app is not compatible with your device, ( even angry birds told me that) so is their a way around this? or an apk site ? help a noob out (NOT A PIRATE)
What ROM are you using? It may be connected with the screen density. If you don't know what value you have download the ,,LCDDensity" app from the market, see and post here.

umm, hyperdroid 12?
HyperDroid Uses (167, and sometimes 192).
You need a density of 240 to be able to install those apps.
thanks!!!!!!!!
you can just downgrade the market, if you like the density! i think only latest market versions do that!
nevermind...just says starting download, after i changge it, never actually downloads

I'm currently trying Plenems donut build and Myns build, but in both I cannot find this app:
World Forecast Clock Widget
http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/org.satok.gweather/
Plenems build is supposed to be the full market (and I can see paid apps), but this app is free. Every time I search, it comes back with no results.
Is it because it requires a higher resolution or something?
Thanks.
If things haven't changed since I read about it then the resolution when you first boot and setup your google account will determine what apps you get to see in the Market. So your assumption that the resolution plays a roll in the problem you've described is most probably true.
Usually the rule of thumb is to boot the first time with the highest resolution to have high res apps shown in the Market. Then install the apps that you need and finally restart Android with your preferred resolution.
You might want to look around in the forums for detailed instructions on tricks to keep the high res apps from disappearing after being back to the lower resolutions. Usually after a week or so they disappear.
Have fun Droiding!
P.S. you've switched the m and n in Plemen's username.
So do the high-res apps work with the lower resolution after I switch back? Better yet, is there any way to get the .apk so I don't have to do this trick?
> P.S. you've switched the m and n in Plemen's username.
Sorry, the mistake was unintentional.

sorry if my FAQ was not organized enough or clear enough for you to find the answer, it's a work in progress. market enabler only allows you to see paid apps. plemen's ealier build emulated this by using the same t-mobile settings to identify the device. this has nothing to do with the resolution problem and not seeing some free apps. you need to back up your data file and boot a new one with 320x480 as your resolution. see here.
I've changed the "ro.sf.lcd_density=120" value in build.prop file with a lower value(110), which have as resault a smaller font size. All apps and seems to work fine after this change, except market. Market crash when trying to tap on an app. I can open it, see the list of apps or search for an app, but crashes everytime I'm trying to access on an app for download. I tried several different versions that I found here, but this happens in every version.
How can I solve this issue?
I would like to keep this setting, but loosing market is a big lost.
Any ideas or help?
Im sorry that im posting here, but i didnt want to make new thread, since my question concers smilar thing So, if i understood correctly, changing resolution makes apps and games work as fine as on other models with higher rez ? If so, how i can do that ? btw, i have rooted my tattoo and got a cm mod. Thanks in advance
Is it just me or has the Android Market get new logo, so just right - plus it's got a new layout and function. ??

Means your country is in the 'paid apps' loop =D
Singaporeans are experiencing this too
looks like Froyo's market with comments in separate section

Well that explains it.. They haven't done anything here in India, maybe because we already had access to paid apps
Here in holland they have seperated the info and comments. Now you can read much more comments instead of the latest three...

In Japan, we got the price changes (everything now is displayed in Yen), but nothing else. Automatic updating would be nice.
How you all get the new logo? I enter the android market, it is still showing the old market logo on my phone.
I only get the below paid apps :

You can now also do automatic updates

What is the point in getting Froyo market when we can't use the 2.x apps?

It's just a logo telling us we can use paid apps -_-. If it's 2.2 related, we would be able to see live wallpaper downloads too.
We are using 1.6. Not 2.2. Please don't go delusional now.
Chong - just try restarting your phone lor. Maybe the icon will be refreshed that way.

There are many benefits of getting the new Market! You get Auto Updating Feature in Market, You also get Update all feature and Real time Search Suggestions in Market.

You can't see Live Wallpapers just because your handset is on Android 1.6! Android Market doesn't list apps which are not compatible to your handset based on Android Version. I said, you would get this market eventually if you fall within 32 upgraded countries by goggle for Paid Apps. But this is just a workaround to force that Update now!
Well I tried the tutorial, doesn't seem to work for me.
Infact now I can't install any updates to my apps. (Download failed - Unknown error)
Luckily I have a backup of my market.apk so I'm going to reinstall

It should be working, You might be updating an app which you didn't install from market but it has an update for you. Try searching a new app and isntall it! Didn't you get the New Market through this?
And you need not re-install the Market Apk, just restore the original market settings from the app itself and it would be enough!

That's what I'm trying to say. Cos you used the word "Froyo", so I thought you're trying to say this market change is 2.2-related, which is not.
The icon change is just an indication that there is a change in the application, that's all =/
marked?? o.0

It is 2.2 related in the way that this is how the market works on Android 2.2. I guess Google decided to change things on their own, instead of waiting for OEMs.
Also, I don't have the new market, and I probably won't get it any time soon.
I used to run on android 2.2.1 on my hd2.
Yesterday i decieded to give it a go for a 2.3.3 version.
After some problems with CWM i finaly had a few running.
Only thing is, it seems that on every ROM i try the screenlayout has changed. the icons are smaller and de layout is totally diffrent.
I wanted to post a picture of it, but havent got 8 posts yet
As you can see there is mutch space between the icons. i got this problem everywere.
What to do?
Thanks!
p.s. now running on HD2_NDT_ginger_v.4.0
its quite possible that the dpi has been changed from 240 to something else, you will need to edit build.prop to see what the lcd density is or download an app fro mthe market

I dont think im running on hyperdroid but on cyonogenmod?
ADW is a app i need to download in market?
Hello,
I know there is tones of topics about it, but i really cant find any solution about it.
The most annoying problem is the not compatible apps, that should be compatible. I use the market on my computer which show paid apps (my phone doesnt show it). And normal apps like Vlingo are shown not compatible.
Worst some app i installed before are now shown not compatible anymore.
I changed room from lightning to Revolution (2.7.1), but still get the same probleme.
Anyway, how can it be from my phone if my account on computer show it not compatible. It must be from my account right ?
Im in china now, (bought the phone in France) and my google account is French. Can it be a problem with the localisation ?
Another weired thing on my phone, Market 3.1.5, when i go to Filter app (sorry i dont know the name in english for the option) to choose what level we want to show.
I must select FOR ALL before select Level3 and next must select level 3 to select level2. Shouldn't it be the reverse ? I mean, first people would like to get the most safe app, Level 1 and after get less safe, Level 2 - 3.
Is it the same on your device ?
Thanks all, i'm very tired of it, and it ruin my android experience... got SGS2, and cant install regular apps...

It's the creator of the app that decides which devices should be able to buy/download their app, if they have decided you can't have it or buy it that's their decision.
If you want an app to be available and wonder why it's not showing for SGS2 send the developer an e-mail and perhaps they'll tell you why it's not available.
Have you changed the LCD Density? I did and a load of my apps came up as not compatible until I reverted back to the standard DPI and rebooted.

If you're using a Chinese SIM card you will get the Chinese version of market which doesn't have paid apps. That's why they are shown as incompatible or not shown at all. You need to use your French SIM or use marketenabler with the old market if you want the paid apps.

Yep I figuered that out for the paid apps, but i still got uncompability with the marketenabler...
Anyway thanks for your answers
Marketenabler doesn't work properly with the new market. You have to downgrade to the old one.
