There have been a few threads on this and no one seems to have the answer.
Ever since I got my Nexus 6, it's been having problems downloading apps from Play Store and other issues. At first I thought this was a Play Store related error later realized that it was my Router that was giving the problems.
Every other article on the web tells you to Clear your Play Store and Play Services cache to fix problems, I know you all have tried those thousands of times and are still looking for a working solution.
Well what worked for me was to disable QoS (Quality of Service) option on the Router.
This fixed all the issues related to WiFi and has in turn fixed Play Store errors Error 927 etc.
Do give it a try.
Thanks.
Were do I find that on the router ? I'm clueless

Am not sure which router you may be using, because its different for each router. Just Google this: "disable qos on router name".

Its usually under advanced settings. Yes it really depends on the router. I have the nighthawk by netgear and that's where my settings are
Has anyone noticed this issue? I find that the Nexus Player very frequently does not show up as a device I can cast to. Often, I have to go on my Player, forget my wi-fi network, sign back in to my wi-fi, and then it will appear as a device I can cast to. But I've seen that fail to work a couple of times, and generally speaking, it's kind of an annoying issue. Anyone know why this happens? Is there a fix to this?
So does your player have wireless issues? Are you streaming without a lot of buffering stops?

Not that I've encountered, no. Aside from the casting issue, everything else seems to stream fine within their respective apps (Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, etc.). Just seems like the option to cast to the Nexus Player disappears fairly frequently, and then I have to manually disconnect and reconnect my NP back to the wifi to get it to show up.

It's not just Netflix that I can't cast to. YouTube, web videos, anything that is castable, sometimes my NP just won't show up unless I disconnect it from the WiFi and sign back in to it.

If you search for "Network" in the Playstore you might find an app for that.
no luck. they are wifi apps. they don't show who connects to my Hotspot

How about changing the password in Settings, at the top where you see Wifi select More... then Hotspot and Tethering and rename the Hotspot to something random and create a new AlphaNumeric pass with a special character @!$
no more worries of who connects
In addition to this -- does anyone know how to set the Channel that wifi broadcasts on?
It seems to just 'pick' Channel 6. Well -- I'm downtown, and that's a REALLY busy channel.
I'm with these folks though, OP -- just change your WiFi password if you're not sure!

I know that's an option. in TouchWiz it's shows list of connected devices via Hotspot. since nexus does not show this...i was wondering if there is such an app or a hidden option for this. I mean it seem simple that app developers must have know this.. if not.. great app idea

I use WiFi Tether Router on another device but should work on the 6p, it has an option to see who is connected and you can also change the WiFi channel too
I got the device yesterday. When I first set up, it couldnt pass "checking connection" after connected to wifi. I passed by switching to LTE. Then I realized that I couldnt download any Play Store apps by wifi (it keeps saying download and then fails). LTE can make normal downloads. Wifi still works for browsing, playing games and any other functions. I did a factory reset, but it didnt get any better. The same result with my brother device (on same wifi network). I am wondering anybody having this issue

Just got my phone from tmobile today, and was having all the same symptoms as you guys. In the back of my head I keep thinking I had the same issue back with my SGS1, but couldn't remember what I did. Worst of all, my SGS3 was working fine on wifi. Finally reading some posts from people with the same issue at Verizon it hit me.
I'm using an old Netgear WNDR3700v2. 3 steps:
1. Disable IPv6
2. ?
3. Profit
Hope this helps.
I had the same issue. If you have access to router settings add 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as Static DNS addresses. Those are the standard Google addresses. Fixed my problem.
