A few movie i cant view using my SGS2..
Can some1 advise me why and i require a best codex to view this movie...
A BLACK SCREEN SHOW>>but sounds come out...this is the problem i facing
You require the same codex as the movie .
Or recode the movie .
jje
are you talking about using a video player ? or through the internet browser ?
if talking about video player, download mobo-player and see if it can play the movies (through software decoding)

I gave up on the stock player, I use MX Video Player, it play`s everything , I even bought the Pro Version it`s so good.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mxtech.videoplayer.ad&hl=en
There's an ARMv7 optimised version of RockPlayer that does a pretty good job.
http://www.rockplayer.com/index_en.html
See the links on the right for the specific version.
Stock, Dice player and MX Player. Those 3 combination will play most videos.
Try Mobo player. The best

Hi everyone,
Has anyone tried to play heavy mkv files?
The Intel A110/GMA950 handles it well?
Not that I will watch on the shift but would be nice to out it to tv monitor..
If not has anyone tested it with less heavier but still high quality videos?
Mine is arriving in 5 days so I am not able to test yet..
Thanks!
Countdown!
365 days...(first time I read about it...)
10...(purchase)
5... (today)...
Did you get the video to work... looking at getting one but am worried about the speed of the machine... I know it's not a racecar, but I would like to be able to play a movie, do general Office 2007 work etc... what's your impression?
thanks!

Office 2007 is working perfect. I installed the Enterprise version with full installation
Movies did not play well, but I must confess my energy state was "power saver".
I don't know how it is with "performance"
Will try that later.
I paly movies on mine and have no problems after installing the correct codecs.
this is the typical specs for the movies i watch, either in DivX or mp4

Me too.
Divx movies run smoothly. (first installed K-lite mega codec pack.)
grtz,
Pfeffa-rah
could someone try to run mkv videos on the shift and post some results?
I'm in a bit of doubt regarding shift playing them smoothly. The intel gma950 should be able to handle them without much problems, also the RAM memory should be enought but however I'm concerned about the processor. Try to run the videos by allocating higher priority from vista's task manager to the video player and it's process.
hey all
So I'm putting out music and trying to get the release page in a simple, touch-friendly format. So far, so good...
http://dopanex.com
except that when I click on a link on my TP2 with Opera it asks me where I want to save the MP3, instead of playing/streaming it automatically.
Is there some way to get it to stream on mobile browsers as it does in a desktop browser? Some fancy html perhaps I can include in the page code to make it more mobile-friendly?
Is it just a TP2 thing? What happens when you click a song on your phone?
thanks!
This is the message I get when clicking one of the songs from Opera.. Pretty standard really.. I'll even get that message from the links on a site like this one-> http://www.filtermusic.net/ Who use a lot of .pls extensions and some others..
Nice music btw..

i've been trying to figure this out too. i feel like the Streaming Media app that is on the device should take care of this like how Quicktime does on the iPhone but it doesnt really do much of anything. ive had the phone for about 2 months now and that is one of the things on my short list left to get it working exactly like i want it to. so if anyone knows how to force Opera multimedia files to stream automatically i'd really appreciate it if you'd let me know.
I have great problems in getting videos to play on the phone.
Basicly I have an avi file. (Ok, it is a downloaded series). The phone will not play it directly. That i candey understand. But I have tried converting. The program used is handbrake. I found a guide on the internet of how settings to use. The video gets converted to mp4. The strange ting is that i did it for more than one file, but only one would play on the phone. Used a media detail program and everything was equal. File size after conversion is aprox 500Mb. I'm able to watch both on the computer. Please google "Samsung i9000 and handbrake guide" to see the settings. Does anybody know what is wrong?
If someone have other guides on how to get the phone to play avi video on(downloaded). Please feel free to direct me to them or write here. I really Needed help.
I'm connecting the phone as mass storage when transfering to external sd card.
the stock player plays proper mp4 just fine (H264 video and AAC audio at least)
mp4 is the contained, and H264/AAC the video and audio formats inside the container
you may just get for example rockplayer from the market and try to play your file with it as a quick shortcut as well, it plays a lot more formats than the stock player
Get Rockplayer or Arc Media Player
works like a charm

First one as original... 2nd one after zooming in.... and 3rd one below full stretched even whn its not zoomed in ... only this video coming proper... rest are all cut from side and top.
here are 2 things that u ca do
1) try playing the vids without converting
2) try any other video player (mvideo player from market)
Try using rockplayer and at the bottom there's the stretch/eesize options. Also try not to convert as our phones fit it to size.

Hmmm, when I downloading something from youtube it is in mp4 format, not flv.
Sent from my super fast Galaxy 3
Actually you can download both mp4 and flv from youtube, sometimes there is only low resolution videos that can only be downloaded as flv.
To make the job easy you can include some extensions or addons to your browser.
You can use "Chrome YouTube Downloader" for Chrome and "DownloadHelper" for firefox. Both of them give you the option to chose between mp4 and flv.
Finally, if you want full screen videos you have to convert videos to the "aspect ratio" of your mobile. I think in this case "aspect ratio" is more important than resolution.
Good luck
Prologue:- While playing a video,if you minimize the app or turn off the screen, the video would be paused. Sometimes while viewing a music video, you may want to close your eyes just listen to the audio w/o the video eating up your battery(and you are lazy to either convert the video to mp3). I found a way to do this (accidently )
in Mx Player.
Steps:-
1. Open and play the video.
2.Pause the video.
3.Now click and hold the "Play" button till your phone vibrates once.
4.Now you can minimize the video by clicking the home button or turn off the screen while the music is still on and you wont have to worry about the video eating up your battery.
Adding some screenies too if you find my English incomprehensible
Enjoy and if you find it useful, do click thanx .:good:

great Tip but...
Thanks for the Tip!
But still under Settings in MX Player, go to Player (on top of Decoder) ...there's a Section for "Playback in Background" :highfive:
Best Regards...

Oh yeah. Thanx for the tip. The only disadvantage i find by selecting background play option from settings is that its a "permanent" setting change and in that mode, youd have to actually toggle it on and off otherwise even clicking the back key would make the video run in background and then you have to Exit mx player from the main menu or task manager which i find tedious
My way toggles the background play by the above trick.
Anyways thanx for teaching me something new.
Good day mate..
Im wondering if this is the correct place to put this thread or should i post it in the android development forum?
^ Thank you for posting this here, because it's definitely not for development forums.
