Hi guys I came across this and it worked for me running 2.33 hope it works for you the main site is in German, just translate. the tool is in English and read me.
Info: Below
This is possible with the new Ace Advanced Hack Kit by attn1 original instructions: [TOOL] Advanced Hack Ace kit features:
Fully integrated / invisible gold card process
Only one step - one click
No full downgrade needed (only radio and kernel, and this automatically)
No Wipe - No data is lost
ROM works then completely
Rooted in full - including S-OFF
Busybox Manager app preinstalled
Radio S-OFF, and no SIM lock SuperCID
Correct radio is automatically restored (HSPA +)
ClockwordMOD ROM and managers are automatically installed
Supports Froyo and Gingerbread - 2.50.xxx.x also firmware and new !
Easily reversed
...
Notes:
Please do not run if the DHD -offed is already saturated and / or a CustomROM runs on it. DHDs only for stock!
Important Windows: Disable all anti-malware software. This can produce false alarms and unnecessary files damage - Brick-risk!
Not run in a virtual machine. ADB requires direct contact with the DHD !
During the process, the screen may be dark - that's ok! If the process is complete, return the image
This kit should work with all versions of the DHD and function of the HTC Inspires
The SD card in the DHD should first be formatted. That is, either take another SD card that is formatted and empty, or copy only the contents of the card to the PC, then reformat. After completion of the hack, the data can be reloaded onto the card.
(Eg various play ROMs), many of the advanced points are designed for the AT & T and are NOT to Inspire our Euro- DHD will be playing! Effen manual instructions!
And now the most important point:
Necessarily the Effen manual read. can find it in aahk package as a separate download in English or in German.
It won't let me post link because i'm new user, so ill pm link for post reply

Looks great but...
My Desire HD is a UK T-Mobile brand running the current (UK) OS and radio and firmware.
Is it simply a case of downloading this software and running it on my Windows (7) PC? Or do I need to do stuff before that?
Once I've installed it, does it include a ROM or do I download and install a ROM separately?
And, lastly, will I have to re-install T-Mobile (UK) settings to get it to work after I run the software?
Cheers.
Just run the cmd file from Windows 7 (you must have Android USB driver or Android SDK Tools installed on PC), sit back for 3-5 minutes and you have fully rooted DHD.
My OS are 2.50.405.2
This is a "one click" tool as written by author as work perfect for original OS delivered with DHD
(You can drop the manual downgrade process as also work perfect but take longer time to do)
I'm on 3 and did it a week ago. All this tool does is root and S–OFF your phone. Your network settings wont be changed. Its well worth it.
After that its a case of picking tour rom. I've played with arhd and currently playing with cm7.1.

since I can't post in the original thread (due to lack of post), i would like to thank the Dev of AceHack. I bought my DHD with Froyo and upgraded to GB without realizing how much of a pain it was to Root GB. So after months of research trying to root my DHD on my Mac..I thought i'd give AceHack a try. It was so EASY and a breeze on Mac, my day has been made. So I am very thankful and happy now that I have superuser access on my phone. Thanks again!
Thanks !
I had missed this and just rooted my DHD
Thank you for this great tool! Worked without a problem

I used this a few weeks ago on a Mac, and I couldn't believe how easy it was. Run the script in the terminal, wait 5 minutes and it's done. Nothing changed except I was rooted I had been searching for months for how to root my phone easily on a mac, and had almost given up when I came across this. Attn1, thank you!
Maybe its time to finally root my desire HD. Rooting and installing a custom rom from stock 2.3.3 is such a pain and takes a lot of your time. It seems this is a nicer way.

i would have to say these steps are easier to do on a mac. no emulator or any drivers needed. plug in ur phone to your mac with USB debug ticked, open terminal under utilities and run the script. the instructions in the download files was so easy to follow. i definitely recommend this for all mac users.
Does this method work with unbranded devices? That "gold card process" etc, is disturbing me a little bit.
Would this work for the AT&T Inspire 4G as well?

Anyone flash this ROM and not the recommended radio? I left the radio as is and I have not witnessed any problems. My phone seems fine. Internet download is fine etc and I think the phone is much smoother and faster. Battery life increased to 100%. Last night i was on my phone for 4 hours straight from 80% - 10% battery.
if it can make my phone even faster, i may do it but not sure if it would affect any network settings.

Hey everyone,
I just bought myself a brand-new Nexus One from eBay. I noticed that the Nexus One I have was originally purchased from Videotron in Canada and it has a carrier specific firmware.
Now my phone is currently sitting on Froyo 2.2 and when I checked for update the phone just says no update available.
This is what I see under "Menu-->Settings-->About phone"
Android version : 2.2
Core version : 2.6.32.9-27227-g3c9b0d [email protected] #1
Build number : 2.16.405.1 CL223106 release-keys
The phone never been rooted or hacked, it still has the original Videotron tweaked firmware.
My question is:
1. How do I flash my phone to the original Google firmware, so that I don't have to wait for an update?
2. What is the easiest method to root the phone for a Mac user?
3. I used to be an iPhone user and it was very easy for me to back-up the whole contents on the phone and restore them back. Is there an easy way, like a program similar to iTunes that can do this for my Nexus One (back-up the whole contents on the phone, for example my contact, SMS, music, and etc)?
4. Is there a way to install swype without rooting the phone?
Thank you for all you help
[Q] Change carrier specific (Videotron) firmware to original Google firmware.
1: It's easy, but will wipe your phone.
Download this: http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Pas...le_WWE_2.16.1700.1_FRG33_MFG_Shipment_ROM.zip
Extract it, and rename the extracted file to passimg.zip and place it on the root of your SD card. Power the phone off, hold Vol- and power it on again, it will detect the file and ask if you wish to install. Install it, reboot and wait for an OTA to the newest Google version (FRG83D currently).
2: To root, you can unlock the bootloader, or take your pick of apps to do it for you, it's all very straight forward regardless of you being a Mac user
3: Nandroid backup from custom recovery after rooting, it does the phone's entire state.
4. Yes, you don't need root at all.
It depends if you wanna unlock the bootloader, which will void the warranty!
If you don't care about warranty, do it that way it will be much easier.
If you wanna keep your warranty, follow my tutorial on my website: http://gravufo.kicks-ass.org/android.html
NOTE: When following the tutorial, do NOT download the ROM I am telling you to download, it seems to have issues updating to OTAs, so just take the ROM that Rusty linked!
NOTE2: I assume you speak french, considering you live in Quebec. Sorry if it's not the case
NOTE3: You can simply root with Universal Androot instead of SuperOneClick that I tell you to use in my tutorial (because it's only for Windows). The app can be found here: http://bit.ly/9wAKC5 (write this link in your phone and download/install the app, then root)
Good luck
I've seen that some of the Videotrons have the 0.35 hboot, so you may not be able to follow Rusty's approach...
Nice write up Gravufo!

I've not seen anyone fail to do the swap on Vodafone UK, and some or them have .35 as well, so fingers crossed.
Thanks for the compliment
And yeah we do have .35 cuz they're all SLCD (Vidéotron JUST launched their new network, so they only have the new Nexus and not the old ones)
Hopefully my tutorial will do the job, I should think of translating it to be able to give a very short answer to everyone in english I would already consider it "franglish" now since I'm using so many english terms (I can't stand hearing technology-specific french words, they're awful)

Is the same process by Rusty! could be applied to a Korean Nexus One? Just bought it from KT 1 month ago. I think it is the SLCD version.

Maybe they can use google translate... BTW, you should update your tutorial with the FRG83D build.
I've sent some info on another forum to gravufo... And, I attached the update.zip from FRG83 to FRG83D
Still gonna want to test it before making it happen... It would be easier if there was a complete rom going to FRG83D... but meh

which is this attachment:

I believe it's an older version of SuperOneClick that works OK with android 2.1 that flipout has
I had problems using SuperOneClick, so I did it using an older version of UniversalAndroot which I used for my other phone. You download it straight to your phone by accessing this link tinyurl.com/urooted.
how do you UNroot a device?
I though that by restoring to factory defaults the root would be gone but i was wrong!
can any one help me in rooting motorola CHARM
can we root motorola charm using super one click
I had an incredible amount of trouble rooting my G1 after i got the OTA update. I looked for answers everywhere and there weren't many, and way too many "do a forum search" answers on forums. As if i hadn't tried searching haha.
Luckily i finally figured out how to do it.
The solution is to create the Unlockr's Goldcard. This creates an SD card that gets around the security of your current build.
If you want to skip a lot of steps (1-8) in the Unlockr's method, download the Goldcard Helper from the Market. This gives you the number you need without using adb. If you have a PC you can follow the Unlockr's guide from step 8 on and create your Goldcard.
(edit: from here downgrade to 1.5 and one click root will probably work)
I am assuming that most of you can figure out the rest, since i'm really busy right now, but i want to open a thread to point people in the right direction. If I see people having trouble i'll make a [Guide] when i get some time.
For now, Good Luck, and if you have it, try Super D. You'll feel like that G1 is like new again!

Or you could just slap an rc29 .nbh file onto the sdcard, install that, and root as normal.
In theory...that's what everyone on forums keeps saying, but I was really frustrated because it doesn't work...at least it didn't work for me.
Were you ever able to do that successfully from the DMD64 build, or just rc30?
I don't know for sure, but I think a lot of people who were trying really hard to be helpful perhaps had rooted their phones before the last OTA update from T Mobile and therefore didn't realize there was a new problem.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
There are a couple of different nbh files for matching the particular region of your hardware. This technique most definitely DOES work, but since DREAM was available as ADP, anybody who ever HAD to was, by definition, either retarded, or bought it from someone who was retarded.
Well, I downloaded every findable .nbh file and none were allowed until I put them on a "goldcard."
Yes, I tried everything in the forums to the letter. I think I chiefly had trouble because everyone responded to other people with the same problem saying "it works, you just need to [insert common solution that I already tried]"
But I don't mean offence because I really do know that you are just trying to be helpful.
I just mean that unless you *actually* have rooted a DMD64 build, and you may have FAIK, you might just be adding to the problem...

All that a goldcard does is it bypasses the CID check. If you do, in fact, have a tmobile branded phone with OEM firmware, then there is no benefit from a goldcard since the CID check will obviously pass since the hardware's CID matches the nbh's CID. Whatever you did differently that made the "goldcard" work had nothing to do with it being a goldcard.
Ah! You are smart! You actually just cleared up what happened with my phone and why I had so much trouble!
Here is what happened: I had just received the phone (Rogers branded) and was extremely new to Android and rooting. I attempted to root got it all done, running with cm6 etc. I overclocking it, but had made a mistake in one of my CPU speeds, freezing my phone. When I tried to reboot to recovery, I accidentally rebooted to hboot and the the t-mobile nbh was still on my SD and it installed. So I ended up with t-mobile stock 1.5. So now I had to go to work, and just left it with the uptake t-mobile Rom. In the middle of the day I got a "there is an update available" notice. I thought it was for an app (noob, I know) and let it update. That is how I got a Rogers branded phone with t-mobile 1.6 DMD64 software and why I needed the goldcard to re-flash the t-mobile cupcake!
Thanks for persisting with me and helping me figure out the mystery.
Cheers!

Thank you sir for finding this solution. I'm in almost the exact same shoes you were in. Noob to Android/rooting. Got this G1 from a friend with 1.6 DMD64 already on there. No root methods have worked so far. Going to try the goldcard sometime today. Will confirm whether it works..
Goldcard was what worked for me! 1-Click method, however, did not work.
Used the text-instructions/downloads from theunlocker.com. I can't post links on XDA yet, so the titles of the articles are "How To Root The HTC G1/Dream" with warnings of how it's an outdated method (but still the only one that works for my DMD64). Then I used "How To Load A Custom Rom On The HTC G1/Dream."
Did not use the videos on those websites...instead used a YouTube video for guidance. Its title is "How To Root Your T-Mobile G1 with Android 1.6 Pt 1."
Successfully running Cyanogen 6 now. Compared to 1.6...Ridiculous UI improvement and a ridiculous battery life decrease.
I tried em all, and gotta say thatv though I wanted android 2.x, Super D was IMHO, without a doubt, the best ROM for the G1.

Hi,
After last update in dec/jan from HTC my GPS is most of the time not working at all and sometimes get a fix after a VERY long time. When I get a fix it's ually very unstable and only for a short time.
I have been searching the internett for a soulution with no luck and is patient waiting for Gingerbread to arrive for HD witch I hope can fix the problem since I am not happy to send my phone in for service witch usally takes weeks.
Anyone with a similar problem and hopefully a soulution for this most irritating problem??
Regards..
If your phone had Eng s-off, you could try flashing an alternate radio.
But first of all you could delete / reset the a-gps data, get a fresh fix.
1. Download Gps Status from the market.
2. Enable gps and 3g data or WiFi.
3. Run app.
4. Phone menu / tools / manage a-gps state / reset / download
5. Get a clear view of the sky and first fix shouldn't take too long.
6. After that, repeat every few days, or if you've traveled great distance without using the gps in between.

Thanks for reply - but I already tried that with no sucsess

I was in the same situation after the update in December to version 1.72. The total amount of bugs in that version made me tired of waiting for a new software.
I sat down and read as much as I could about rooting and after installing Android Revolution 4.0 along with a new radio my GPS get a fix all the time.
I'm a noobie, and got it right. It's worth the effort.
Thanks - I will look into this.
I also think this could be the soulution but have been waiting patient for Gingerbread to avoid rooting.
As, in my first post, you said "you already tried this". I assume you were referring to the App & not the radio.?
Edit: just read your next post, if you haven't rooted, well you won't have eng s-off and therefore not able to install a new radio yet....... do the answer would be app only.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Yes, sorry.. I see that now.
I did not answer to all your suggestions yesterday because I did not know what "Eng s-off" was so I did not understand....
Today I have read a lot about rooting so I will try this soon. I have not rooted any android devices before but have done it with several Windows Mobile devices so hopefully I will manage this without the biggest problems... time will show
If I only do the downgrade, will I then still have stock rom but the previous version?
Maybe GPS will work ok then??
If I root my phone will I be able to put in new HTC Gingerbread stock rom without problem when it arrives?
Thanks again for reply and help!
So you are talking about downgrade, I assume your build is higher than 1.32? If so, here are a few guides for you, some by the same Dev; If not, The Visionary, S-off & Eng S-off will still be applicable.
If you haven't already, ADB needs to be setup on the PC; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719 . There are a few around and may pay to find the latest downloads.
If your phone is carrier branded/regional (1.84) you may have to make a goldcard first. It has been advised by some to have a seperate 2gb sdcard for this, and keep in a safe place, as you may require this if you every ned to downgrade easily in future.
How to downgrade to 1.32.405.6 WWE .
One click Radio S-OFF tool including using Visionary tool
One click ENG S-OFF
By having Eng S-off, this will enable you to falsh a different or newer radio, what has the possibility to increase (or even decrease) performance of your gps, 2g/3g, wifi, BT etc, but has risks (read all warnings). Having S-off only will allow you to flash custom ROMs & kernels etc. (Before that, I suggest to use CWM Recovery to backup your existing ROM and keep on your PC as well) so I wouldn't worry about missing out.
Doing all this has it's risks, so if you go down this road, I suggest that you read everything twice, make sure battery is fully charged before hand, and have everything downloaded ready. Read the FAQ in each thread and as much of the recent posts as you can. Most rooting problems experienced seem to be by people not following the guides exactly, being unprepared, and not doing enough reading first....and possibly language barrier.
You could of course wait for the official Gingerbread release, but the radio that may come, may not suit you. So you could be back at square one.
If you use a custom ROM, you will not be able to receive OTA updates, but as I said, the Devs will have something new and updated in no time. Also, if you still use the stock 1.32 with root, you can still recieve OTA updates, but if you do update, you will lose root & most probably the flashed radio, and have to downgrade again.
Edit: If you use a custom ROM, the OP will more than likely state a recommeded radio to flash so it matches the ROM for best overall performance. Obviously, your carrier 2g/3g signal quality will play a big part in this, others have found that trying other radios is better for them.
The options are in your hands. Hope I've helped.

BUT - still no GPS fix so I am about to give up, I was really hoping that new rom and radio would solve the problem - but the phone is still not able to get a full fix.
Have also used Faster Fix and GPS Status with no help.
Yesterday after a long time I managed to get a fix on 2 satelites. This is the first time my phone have "seen" a satelite in weeks but 2 is not enough and today no fix again.
Maybe I should install a different radio?
Is it the radio or rom or bought that is controlling the GPS modul?
Or maybe just unroot the phone again and send it back to HTC for replacement??
Really tired of this problem now - I want my GPS back!!!!!

Hello,
thanks again for all god help and advices!
I have now done "everything" and gone from no GPS at all to a GPS fix in about 10 minutes under perfect conditions - a fix that seems very weak/unstable - witch means that the GPS is still not working at all for normal use
I have;
Downgraded
Installed Revolution HD 4.0 rom with radio _12.41.60.19_26.06.04.14_M
Changed radio today to _12.48.60.23U_26.08.04.07_M3
Tried different solutions as sim card out/in, GPS status and Faster Fix...
Latest radio have got very positive feedback from other users who had the same problem as me, several tells that they had no GPS and now get a fix in seconds...
I also have a Xperia Mini and a Galaxy Tab - they also get a fix in seconds...
For my DHD that is not the case and I feel I have come to the end of the road and that this problem is not meant to be solved.....
Maybe it is hardware related?? Or another radio will do the job???
I dont know.
At least a have learned a lot about rooting and other Android stuff
Thanks to all of you for taking time and trying to help me and for this good forum - I really appreciate that - THANKS
Regards
No problem. All I can suggest is try a few more radios and don't forget to use gps status and clear & dl fresh agps data each time. If you have then tried everything & still no go, ..... back to HTC. Best of luck.
Edit: if you need to return it, you may not need to downgrade back to stock / branded. It has been reported that these are only software mods that don't void warranty. I personally would return it to original or at least try before returning.

Yes it is very possible. I had a Gingerbread (shipped Froyo) with Sense 3 and latest HTC updates. By reading this forum ,then downloading ace hack kit or whatever it's called (google aahk desire HD) I have been able to:
- Root with aahk by carefully following the instructions. This wipes and downgrades to sense 2 and gingerbread
- updated to jellytime, updated google apps
- flashed the new July 2012 Radio = better wi-fi and calls, enabled 4G for those with 4G radio device
Read the aahk guide that is included with the download very carefully.
If you are not a very technical person, or are afraid you might do something wrong, then ask a friend to do it. You can brick your phone by not following the steps. Though I have to say that this is pretty new to me and I was able to do it easily.
I spent a good 4 hours or so reading and re-reading the forums and instruction manual with aahk.
Sometimes you need a different combination of up/down/power/the google search key, to be able to select menus when booting - you will need to do this instead of using the touchscreen when you are in boot mode or programming ROMS.
I have mine up and running with Jellytime R11 and I like it better than the CyanogenMod 9.
BBC Iplayer: They have released a new BBC media app, you need to use the website now to watch programs, it will prompt you to install the right software.

Use the HTCDev method. It's explained in post #7 of the link in my signature; another guide is here.
