Well I get my upgrade in 2 weeks may hold off until November to get the htc sensation xl what do you guys think
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
get it and put cm7 on it...
so freaking fast
I'm looking at a similar upgrade soon. I'm going to wait for the Nexus Galaxy (or whatever it gets called) to drive down the price on the Sensation a little bit more... unless someone in the UK or AUS (no Telstra) can find me a Sensation for cheap! <wink>
I'm probably going to go for the Sensation S. You can pretty much turn it into the XE (1.5 ghz, already dual core, etc) except for the slightly larger battery.
The XL has a larger screen but lower resolution... lower than the X10.
XL is thinner but larger width and length.
XL is only a single core cpu with an adreno 205 vs the dual core + adreno 220 in the S and XE
The XL supposedly has a better camera than the S/XE. But the S/XE is close to the Arc in terms of quality... it's just that HTC compresses their images WAY too much.
The S/XE can do 1080p 30fps while the XL is limited to 720p 30fps.
Either way, they look like very nice phones.

oh wow thanks for that info I didn't know the specs and thought it had better specs than the regular sensation :S
no problem!
I was revisiting the specs and it seems that the XL is basically the SE Arc S with a little more ram, a front facing cam, and a larger (but lower res) screen. The XL is probably going to cost more since it's newer and between those two, I would pick up the older Arc.

I'd get the sensation.
I prefer my htc incredible s to the arc
Don't get me wrong, definitely the S/XE > Arc S. It's more like S/XE > Arc S > XL... But really close between those last two, imo. Either way

HTC Sensation or Galaxy S2?
Torn between these dual core beasts.
Just a very small overview:
HTC:
Screen
Battery
Internal storage (1GB lol)
VGA Front Cam
RAM
Weight. 148 gr. Holy Moly. We should send the phone to fat ca...errr weight management retreat lol
screen resolution: qHD
HTC Sense
Galaxy:
All things HTC has red are better
The thing HTC has green
Easy decision for me.
I think Galaxy S2 is better.... at least in Korea.rep

Sense vs TouchWiz if a slapped on interface matters, sense is lovely! Hardware wise SG2 wins.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
both are good phones and you cant go wrong with any. however. i believe the GS2 is better specd hardware. better GPU. better screen in terms of colors. there is no even lag in scrolling at the browser.
the only advantage you will have with the HTC if you call it an advantage is the HTC S 3.0 and i wouldnt call it an advantage.
besides. and the most important factor you need to consider. the HTC now is using a Locked bootloader. meaning you wont get custom roms for sure. and considering how the incredible S is been locked for 3 months now without any luck to open it. i would say avoid HTC phones for now
i will not even buy the HTC for 100$. locked bootloader = useless phone for me.
i learned that the hard way from the atrix. and never again.
Having a lower weight does not necessarily mean 'better'. I think build quality in terms of materials (partial reason of the higher weight) is another plus for the Sensation. On the other hand, I prefer the dimensions and shape of the S2.
Furthermore the Sensation's camera has an instant capture feature but the S2 cam has a pretty fast capture too.
Looking at all the + and - I think the S2 is the overall winner.

Very true, imagine when the sgs2 gets cm7 or darky rom!
It's blazing fast on stock!

I wouldn't want to put CM7 on that as the browser would loose any GPU acceleration and be as crappy as other dual core phone, I'll take it as it is with all the optimization from samsung included for performance and battery life

We don't know that yet, so far the benchmarks indicate that the Adreno 220 GPU inside is quicker than the Mali-400 in the Samsung, I still find it hard to believe considering the mali-400 is quad core, so maybe the benchmark is not up to date with quad-core graphics processor's.

what ???? isnt adreno 220 GPU is the same was used in Desire HD and Xperia Play ?
if so, thats more reason to avoid the Sensation. because that GPU is lower than the Nexus S GPU. let alone come close to SG2. that thing will do marathon around the Adreno 220 and that is based both trying to run Nintendo 64 Emulator at the same time same game.
hell i just hope you made a typo and you are not talking about that old horrible GPU :/

You cannot compare the number of cores on a GPU unless it is the same architecture, it doesn't make sense at all.
A single core GPU can easily be ten times faster than quad core GPU. It is just how they choose to arrange the GPU-architecture in order to have versions with different speeds.
In fact, even a 300$ gaming card for PC's is single core.

OP didn't day anything about his gs2 he is just sharing the information on a open forum. You shouldn't tell him what to do! I'm sure he is old enough to make his own choices.
and a lambo is faster than a golf...
xperia x has a different resolution so it has a bigger pixel density therefore the images looks better.
But, because there is a but, SGSII has better a better display, better blacks, better overall contrast ratio because of the super amoled plus display.
Next time gsmarena should try to compare comparable phones.
The S2 doesn't have a 720p resolution. When SAMOLED HD+ is released, then that'll be a fair comparison (ish)
Compare last years device to one barely released this year. Newer device has slightly better display than Last Year's device. Massive Woop!!! I AM TEH SHOCKED!!

Why isn't this thread closes yet?
I just want to know what do you want from your next wp8, describe it!
I start:
(Nokia)
4/4.3 inch display 16:9
Right now I have an one x and an iPhone, the one x is great for gaming/film but very hard to use with one hand while the iPhone screen is too small for anything.
Similar design to the lumia 800 just a little bit thinner.
An unibody made of metal(if is possible)instead of polycarbonate.
A little bit heavier, I know I'm strange ;P
2100mah battery or more.
An SLCD 2 @720p(or similiar) instead of an amoled I hate the oversatured colors.
A hard button(designed like the iPhone's one) instead of the 3soft key,I find it very useful for wake up the phone.
12mpx pureview camera(maybe I ask too much)
Better audio
An snapdragon s4 pro(with the adreno 320, doesn't matter if it is dual or quad.
And that's it.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
I would buy a high end Wp8 immediatly if it is/has.
- Nokia
- Dual/Quad S4 with Adreno 320 GPU
- 4 > 4.7 inch CBD 720p Amoled Screen
- A good 8MP Camera (Hopefully with 20mp for oversampling/noise reduction and nice Pureview features like Zoom, Rich recording.)
- Nice design a la Lumia 800/900
- Superb music quality

Sony is doing a pretty good job with optimizing software for their hardware. The xperia SP which has a dual core processor beats the xperia Z and the Zl and some other quadcore phones in benchmarks. I hope sony will make improvements to the xperia Z as well. The only thing sony needs to work on is their displays, the SP seems to have about the same level blacks as the Z and the contrast ratio is also very low.
Benchmarks: http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_xperia_sp-review-924p5.php
All this shows is... sony are very lazy with their 'flag ship' if a mid range phone can beat it in most tests....

Sony have a habit of doing stuff like that though, when they released the Xperia T it was meant to be the flagship yet the V had certain features that were far better...
If you make a flagship it should be the BEST! of what you can do.. not parts of it.
Lets make things clear.
First of all, the Sony Xperia SP is indeed a fast phone, but not faster than de Z or ZL. The reason why the SP scores higher on some benchmarks is easy to explain. The SP has a 720p display, while the Z and ZL both have a 1080p display. That's about twice as many pixels to render. In the real benchmarks such as Antutu or Linpack, the Z and ZL clearly have their advantage.
Second of all the software on the Sony Xperia SP is probably more mature (albeit with two months) than the Z and ZL software. GSM Arena and other reviewers just benchmark their phones when they receive them, so probably with pre-release software. Since the SP basicly has the same platform, you can easily guess why some benchmarks on the SP are a bit higher. But when you will test with new software on the Z or ZL, the difference should be minimal.
Lastly, Sony uses IPS LCD on their phones. If you don't think that's true, you're just ignorant.
-deleted-
What's the need of this? If you're not happy with your phone that's your problem... But this kind of comparisons are useless. If your neighbor's car is better than yours even if he paid less, does that mean your car is bad?
Instead of doing this things, try to enjoy your phone please.

Bull****. Numbers is almost everything. Aesthetics are important too, but would you buy a phone that has only a dual-core, qHD screen and 2G because it looks beautiful? Nope, don't think so.
Comparing to the SP is also nonsense. It's like comparing a current-gen pc with a slightly less current-gen pc. Both are fast, but the higher end one should clearly be the winner.
Finally, 1080p on 5" is amazing. Anyone who says it isn't is ignorant. I had a Galaxy Note which has a pixel density of 285ppi, which would be high enough. But I still see the difference with this device. It is just amazing! Also the quad-core, 2GB of RAM and fast GPU are amazing too. If you don't think it matters, buy a Note or any other last-gen phone and see for yourself...

You're just wrong. If you used your phone at about 0.6 feet away, which is 18cm you could probably tell the difference. Furthermore, because the human eye (according to Apple) has a ppi of about 300, 400+ ppi is a tremendous difference from 286 (Galaxy Note) ppi. Which is just below our 330ppi limit.
Also you can't change the ppi (which is what we are talking about here) via root or anything. You can change the 'dpi', which is the scaling of the Android OS. The Z uses a 480dpi setting, which is a bit more than the display is (which is 443) but it scales better. The Galaxy Note has a set dpi of 320, which is also a bit higher than the 286ppi of the screen.
Regarding the Youtube video.... I'm not even taking you serious anymore. The camera and your monitor make a huge difference on that perception.

ok be in denial thats fine with me, i'll give you the point on the DPI and PPI but I just gave you an article on resolution and sizes, if you refuse it then that your right. Guys I think the xperia SP performs better because it has a dual core processor. Most applications dont have support for multi cores or they dont take advantage of it.... even if they support more then one core most are optimized to 2 cores not 4. So the Quad core doesnt really make a difference if most apps arent optimized for it

Think the biggest factor is the benchmarks the SP excelled in was more to do with GPU performance that was run in its native resolution. Which was only 720p

I tend to agree, quad core is not needed, RAM on the other hand....2 GB was the biggest upgrade ever, solve lag issue, launcher redraw problem. everything and anything can run on my Dual Core S3. So processor is not a big factor at all.
Hi,
i have an htc desire at the moment. I want to get a new one, and thought about the HTC One serie.
Yesterday i had a look at the HTC One M8, but it's too big i think. So i thought on getting the M8 mini. But it's not much cheaper than the normal m8 and has an lower camera, lower prozessor,....
So i thought what about the old One (M7).
Would you take the M7 or M8 mini??
what about the video/picture quality of the M7 are you contented with it??
without reading all of the text, buy the flagship m7 and not mini series...always better to get a flagship or go direct to m8

Hi,
i have an htc desire at the moment.

I would go for M7 as it is only .2 inches bigger @ 4.7 Inches vs the 4.5 Inch screen on the Mini 2 and 1080p screen with 469ppi on the M7 vs 720p screen with 326 ppi. The camera though will be very similar with both phones. The processor on the M7 is far better with 4 x Krait-300 Cores vs 4 x Cortex-A7 cores on the Mini 2. The price on Amazon for a new M7 is €465 whereas the Mini 2 costs €440, both are sold by Amazon themselves. So go for the M7 because of the better value for your money.
I would suggest the original M7 as well.
But if that's still too big, I would pick the Moto G over both mini phones.
