Hi, my friends at modaco are busy trying to get the Samsung i900 bluetooth routing working properly by taking bits out of the new i908 ROM and cooking a new i900 ROM.
I am looking at trying this from another angle in that I wish to patch the i908 ROM from chinese to english but would like to know what files I need to replace and where is the setting that determines the system language.
I see there are 0404 language files, I have corresponding 0409 language files from the latest WWE ROM but I'm assuming there must be some registry setting or something that I will need to hack to tell the system to refer to which code?
I am still a newbie but have cooked several custom ROMs and made hacks etc, I have some experience with firmware writing as well...
Thanks
Steven
These threads here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311078 and here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=449263 should help you immensely. Or you can upload the parts your working on from both ROMs and I can look into it
Hello everyone,
I am used to adding Arabic to my builds whenever I cook a new rom, but I just noticed that when I cook with 28244 (Also tried 240 and 238) and Whatever I do the Arabic does not show in Manila.
I Replaced wince.nls with the Arabic one and did not work, Used Complex script from another build, Copied over with the Arabic enabled fonts, ...etc.
I Even installed (After booting) the Arabic enabler cab that I use with any other rom to no avail.
I tried everything I know of and it does not work with 28244.
If any one have any ideas please help.
Hallo,

Nope, It is problematic.
When I can read in Windows and not manila I can reinstall Tohama Font but in this Rom I can't achieve any Arabic Reading
A nice bump in hope for ideas.
search for bold font issues repair here in XDA, apply the changes and yr arabic will be fine in manila and phone canvas too.
COM2 had no issues with arabic, while bottom menus released lately have these problems.
Solved.

Hello
First of all sorry for my bad English!
it's a big problem that Android devices cannot show arabic/persian letters!
but developers has fixed this problems on some devices! (Legend/Nexus One/Xperia X10 and ...) and Samsung Devices support this languages officaily!
Now, What's the fix for Wildfire!?
i, my self has tried some ways, i know it is depended on two things:
1. Font (totally Fixed, No Problem!)
2. lip (here is my problem!)
i have copied good fonts to Rom files (make/edit a zip) and then flash my cooked rom with my favorite font, now my device can show arabic/perisan letters BUT separately!
i did the same way (copy file to rom zip and then flash!) with lib files, letters was good but Gallery and Browser and some other apps did'n work (Force Close!)
there is 3 lib file that they are related to this problem:
libskia.so
libskiagl.so
libwebcore.so
Important: In CM rom everything is OK! Persian/Arabic Rom are showing true!
My Another Problem: Because of this problem i cannot test some different lib files to rich to good result: When i want to replace lib file in Root Explorer, i see an error: "not enough space" so i forced to copy my lib files to a zip file (rom) and flash it to test! it's so CRAZY! What's the solution?!
Point: there is a Official Arabic HTC Rom for Legend and i know it has cooked by developers for Hero, is here anyone to see them and try to cook one rom for Wildfire!?
thanks so much and
keep your nice work!
I did find a Arabic rom from a Arabic forum which it supports Persian letters so well and has English menus and a fantastic bilingual (English/Persian) keyboard, now I'm using that!
You can find my topic here:

CM
But the browser in CM doesn't support arabic
the letters appears not connected!
Java Util class for Farsi/Arabic letters for Android
I have created a Util class that reshapes the arabic, persian, farsi, dari letters to correct glyphs. Find more at:
ahmad-iv.blogspot
Edit:
I cannot post a link right now...
Its easier to flash to CM7 or use Arabic Eclair rom. There is also custom roms that supports Parsi/Arabic languages.

hope we get an official update for the arabic support soon
So I am getting a Defy+ that as you know runs on 2.3 and wanted to know if it supports Persian/Arabic language for texting and web browsing?
NB. I'm buying it from Australia if that matters.
Thanks
if you want to keep stock rom, ot depends on the country you are buyig. in Australia I don't know so you have to test before you buy.
But if want to install custom rom, you don't have to worry (CM 7.1 has arabic and persian and many other languages)
You can add the RTL support to any GB rom, I dont remember the main site, but I'm using this program to Patch:ww w.multiupload. com / LFGJHF7DHS
remove the spaces from URL.
I bought a Defy+ from Germany and arabic letters are displayed but disconnected while they should be connected in all apps...I still want to use the stock rom but I need arabic letters to be connected....is there a way I can do that?...your file is removed and I can't download it
