[Q] alarm Clock Issue? - Mango - Omnia 7 General

Hi
I am getting to grips with wp 7.5 but cant seem to figure out how to work the alarm volume in the alarms app that comes by default. You used to be able to specify a volume level between 0 to 5 but the option is not there and the alarm is loud (5 i recon). Should the option for alarm volume be there? ( i used zune to update phone)
phone specs (also my fw seems to be higher than what most others have)
OS 7.10.7720.68
FW 2424.11.8.7 (people on here seem to have 8.5)
HW 3.15.0.4
Radio SW 2424.11.7.2
Radio HW 0.0.0.800
Bootloader 5.8.2.5
Chip SOC 0.36.2.0

I have the same issue.. Anyone know in diagnosis aound setting which profile the back speaker is? Nr. 2 is the front speaker, so if you have problems with to low sound in calls, increase the max by 600. Works perfect for me.

Having the same problem here. And more...
My wife starts to beat me up in the morning when the alarm sounds.
I am pretty sure though this did not happen with the mango update.
My bet is one of the firmware updates did something to the volume, as I recently updated my Omnia to versions below, because it did not update automatically.
firmware: 2424.11.11.2
hardware: 3.15.0.4
radio: 24.24.11.9.1
boot loader: 5.11.1.8

At least for my two Omnia's the sound increase happened with Mango.
Luckily, it is now possible to choose custom alarm tones, so just download a silent alarm tone, and you're good.

Thanks, I think I will do that then.
Although I think I am missing a simple feature described in this thread:

The work around from this post does not work either.
Found a post about a reg key to fix it:

Works for me.

Fantastic!

Only remaining problem now is to make the alarm sound increase with time, start soft and end at max vol..

I have an idea, there might be an additional reg value in the pre-mango register, maybesomething with softstart, etc. so if there are anyone out there on pre-mango or mango RTM (not affected of the alarm issue) could you please check this section
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Alarm\
and report back with entries and values?
Another option is to roll back, but since i'm on the latest FW I'll loose my interop unlock..

I thought that the volume was between 1-30 as in the volume for everything, so if you have the phone volume set to 10 the alarm is quiet but so are ring tones etc?
Its crazy that you cant set the alarm volume level seperately also that if you want to play music/listen to the radio on the phone you have to turn the volume down which then means if the phone rings it rings quieter.

The reg key: HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\Alarm\InitVol = 50 (integer) seems to be a percentage of the common volume set using the hardware keys.
I agree that it's crazy not to be able to set the volume for separate functions.

Atom's Ringtone volume problem

When listen from phone setting, the ringtone i set is loud. but actual incoming phone call comes, the ringtone's volume is soft 1 stage from setting (ie, set phone and system sound volume at 4th-stage, but actual just 3rd-stage)
-System and phone sound volume at 4th stage
-The Equalizer setting is activated and configed. If not, the ringtone is more worst.
-This "problem" found in 20060426 and later ROM. Previous ROM didn't has this problem.
-Tried set max for ringtone, the actual incoming call's ringtone's volume is loud enough, but once become miss-call, distortion sound appear.
Any solution to solve it?
Thx for helping

Anyone else having problems with the alarm clock not ringing on the Magic?

Sometimes, my default android alarm just doesn't ring in the morning, even though i'm sure it is supposed to ring..
The screen just turns on at the alarm time, giving me an option of snooze or dismiss, but there is no sound or vibrate notification at all.
I've googled it up, and seems like a ton of ppl are having this issue.
Anyone here know a quick fix regarding this? thanks!

I found that the stock sounds were too short to wake me up so I downloaded a new clock app for free called digital clock. It has worked great for the last week I have been using it
change time zone
I have the same problem until i change the timezone to the correct one, then it worked for me.
I had this problem with my Rogers Magic also -
When you're inside the "choose an alarm sound" menu and scrolling through the list,
if you press the volume buttons on the side of the phone then you can manually adjust
the alarm sound (mine was set to 0). Not sure what causes it to set to zero,
presumably when you take the phone off silent mode it sometimes fails to update the
alarm as well? This still needs looking at because it means the alarm volume resets
to zero of its own accord, but it can at least be managed by manual readjustment.
Hope this helps!
P.S. It might also be worth noting that when I was having this problem, no
third-party alarm apps would play the stock alarm sounds either.

lol I had this problem way back in my g1 days. I've tried everything from not closing the app from not allowing the phone to sleep. It seems to work at
random. This bug never seems to have been addressed with any updates or in the roms. I just use my alarm clock, its a hell of a lot more reliable. If you travel just get one of those clam shell clocks like my dad uses haha.

That's it right there.

Music Volume

Morning XDA people
Have one slight issue that really bugs me with my HD2 the ring volume is so damn loud its hazardous lol now I know your gonna say turn it down but when listening to music I have to turn it back up again and then forget to turn it down again....
Any way I can separate the volumes better was literally thinking of taking the wav file for my ring and decreasing the DB its saved with, but slightly longer work around than wanted not ideal!...
Many Thanks in advance,
Crafty...
I used the following registry tweak to lower the call volume, and it's worked great for me on the old ROM and latest ROM. However, I've posted this a couple of times now and it's received a mixed reception. Some say it doesn't work at all, and some say that a second incoming call is way too quiet. You can give it a shot a guess, and if it doesn't work just change your registry back.
HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\inCall AND InCall2
Change the value of InitVol to "2" in both inCall and inCall2

Many Thanks for the Reply Snerkler, I don't think I explained my issue that clearly it is actually the ringing volume that really gets me rather than in call volume. I use my headphones and turn the volume up to max and then when removing the head phones if I forget to turn the phone down the ringer is crazy loud.
Hope this is clearer
There are 3 volumes in WM phone. Incall, ring, and system.
Incall volume is highly problematic in HD2, but at least it has nothing to do with the other two. It can only be changed during call.
The other two, ringer and system, are both linked by default. But that can be easily changed by settings/sound & display/single volume - off.
Like that you will be able to control both volumes independently. On my phone that meant that you control ringer only with HW keys. That can be changed to system only, check here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=610334
but for some people no such tweak is needed.
But again .. there is special incall volume which can be changed only during call. So no volume setting before the call, ringer or system, affects incall volume.

Issue, volume goes quiet out no reason

My alarm clock failed me again this morning! This is the second times in less than 1 month. This is quite annoying and I don't even understand WHY?
Settings are correct, volume set at about 50% and it works (most of the time ) fine. But this morning when the alarm rang out, for not reason, volume was barely audible.
And I actually noticed that all other sounds (ringtone, notification and media) had the same problem. I tried to set media volume to max, I could ear some sound but nothing compare to loud sound it should be. I didn't find any way to fix this, except rebooting my gs. After that everything was working perfectly fine.
Anyone with the same problem? Thanks in advance for your help.

Tell us a bit about the firmware you are running, any custom ROM's? Eclair or Froyo?
Actually I used the wrong forum, my phone is a Galaxy S I9000 released for the Japanese market (Japanese name: GALAXY S SC-02B). Appreciate if an admin can move this topic to this appropriate forum, thx.
Here are the details:
Firmware version: 2.2
Baseband version: SC02BOMJJ1
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #1
Build number: FROYO.OMJJ1
I also use the free version of AudioManager as volume manager
Hey,
did you find any solution to this problem? Same thing happened to me, like even set to maximum sound was really low afterall for some reasons.
any updates?

@Oldergod: Unfortunetaly not, still looking how to fix this
@chichu_9: Thanks a lot, I will try this and keep you updated
Hi guys, unfortunetaly the issue in this post is slightly different from mine.
Yesterday, when i was playing with bluetooth and listening music from my sgs on my laptop same thing happened...
Sent from my SC-02B using XDA App

Focus alarm volume & allshare

Ok, so I force updated my focus from RTM (rev. 1.3) and all is going good EXCEPT the fact that my alarm volume is deafeningly loud. It no longer starts out quiet and gets louder, it starts out as loud as max volume goes (when default volume is on 1 or 0) and it is just terribly jarring. I was wondering if there was a place to change alarm volume (like in android) such as the diagnostic app.
Also, (not a biggie, just an observation) has ANYONE gotten the Samsung all share app to work on their focus?
If you can help, that would be outstanding.

Check the Diagnosis Codes thread, I think there's something for the volume there.
As for the AllShare, I don't think it works with the first generation phones (Focus, Omnia). Doesn't work on my Focus.
I have a Focus 1.3 and upgraded to Mango yesterday from the final beta 7712. Not only does my alarm still gradually get louder, the customer alarm tones I created also gradually get louder. I wonder whats causing yours to start off loud.
Well, I'll check the diagnosis code thread and hope that this is resolved. Thanks

Hey Dyskmaster. Did you ever find anything about this? I got used to the gradual alarm and now it jolts me out of bed hahaha.
I'll check the diagnostics menu as well.

Ok. I figured it out. I think.
Try this:
1. Select a different Sound
2. Save
3. Select same Sound you originally had.
4. Test
Mine now gradually raises in volume again. Whew! Now I won't jump out of bed like an Earthquake was happening.
yes, that worked, (why didn't I try that???) thanks a bunch!
