I started to download adb to try tb101's new framework. I realized about half way through the install process that it was over my head. So I stopped and went on to other things. The problem is, now my computer won't recognize my phone. I've re-downloaded the usb drivers and tried everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try rebooting both PC and phone. Reinstall drivers. There is a adb tut that's noob friendly around.

Ssk is installed, I stopped when it came to installing usb drivers during set up, because my sdk didn't list the option that the tut said should be there.
I'm working so I can't get on irc right now. I would love to be able to.

Ok, so I am trying to root this new Incredible, and I thought I had it working, but nothing could get superuser privileges, so I reset to factory defaults to start from scratch. When I go into recovery mode, windows is seeing my phone as 2 "HTC Android Phone USB Device"'s. I know it's some sort of driver problem, but it's not letting me into ADB because of it. I tried on my laptop, and it sees a "Android 1.0 Device" and I can't seem for find a proper driver on that system. Both are Win7, Main is 64 bit, laptop is 32 bit. Anyone have any ideas? This is sooo frustrating.....

The WIKI is down. The biggest problem is trying to uninstall the drivers that are currently there. I can't get windows to let me re-install them. I tried in linux as someone suggested somewhere, but adb isn't seeing the phone I guess......
Have done done searching, but still can't get my phone to connect to my computer. I've tried everything that I've found posted. Doesn't mean I found then all.
I get "usb device not recognized" when I plug on my phone. I'm trying to flash the modem to get my text messaging to work. Windows 7 64bit
DL30 black hole 4.1
Any help would be appreciated.

As most people would say, wrong place. This is a question that belongs in the general section.
Did you install the samsung driver onto your computer?

Yes divers have been installed a long time. I used to be able to connect. Then about a month ago it decided to stop. I even tried it on a XP system, same thing.

Yes. Tried my wifes. Tried one from my BB. Tried de-bugging mode. Tried rebooting while connected. Lol

Did you try a different USB port?
Also I would suggest updating to EB01 since DL30 isn't supported by devs and is a less stable Froyo build. Uninstall the Samsung drivers, reboot, reinstall and try it again.
Mine quit working today....i disabled usb debug then did a battery pull. Rebooted..enabled usb all is well...

I've had this issue and have tracked it down to my BT dongle. Every time I use it on my win 7 64bit box I have to uninstall the Samsung drivers, then reinstall without the phone or the BT dongle plugged in.
Thanks for all the input. It finally started working. I installed another rom and kernel. But now I can't get odin to recognize the phone in download mode. Weird stuff....

I just ran into this myslef, and I believe the Fascinate has a bit of a multiple personality disorder. When I went through the Windows registry, I found entries listing the phone as a phone, as removable storage, as a SD card reader and as a CD drive. Nothing worked - no matter what I did, Windows wouldn't recognize it as anything.
To solve it, I had to uninstall the Samsung drivers and then search through the registry, removing anything that said Samsung. A bunch of keys gave me permission errors, but after finally removing them all, I connected the phone and it was immediately recognized as an Android Device. I reloaded the Samsung drivers and everything is back to normal.
A major PITA, but I'm just glad there was a solution.
If you want to try to do the same, uninstall the Samsung drivers, open regedit and search for Samsung. Delete any key that says Samsung (assuming you don't have any other Samsung peripherals). Hopefully you won't run into the permissions problems, but if you do, let me know and I'll walk you through how to get past them.
ChrisDDD, thank you. I will try that asap. That is some great information. I will report back my findings after I'm finished.

Well finally got around do working on this. And YES it worked. At least on my XP machine. Got some permission problems on my win 7 machine.
Chris, thanks for that bit of info. Only thing I had to do different than most was to reboot my phone in download from the menu that is installed with my kernel. I couldn't get it to work by pulling the batt and hooking up to pc. Funny stuff trying to get this stuff to work.
Anything that I can try besides Odin to flash the EB01 modem with? I can't get odin, our my computer, to recognize my phone while in download mode.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you the latest drivers?
Are you entering download mode with the battery out?
You gotta work on getting your pc to see your phone properly before you can even try odin, definitely need the right drivers, also can try rebooting phone while usb is plugged in.

Ad far as I know I have the latest drivers. I finally got the pc to recognize the phone with it turned on to transfer files. So that tells me the drivers are working. And yes, entering dl mode by pulling batt. Not sure where to go from here.
Try all your USB ports. Are you using the original cord that came with your phone?
If you know how to use adb see if normal operations work

FYI I have one desktop and three laptops in my house. one laptop refuses to recognise my fascinate... all the others work fine. Oddly enough..that same computer recognises my friends fascinate. Neither the laptop or my desktop would recognise my droid x but my mothers laptop works fine with my x.
I beginning to think all phones have crappy usb drivers.
I eventually got my desktop to recognise the X too but I had to do some wanky driver cleaning and removing / reinstalling all the USB hardware detected by windows.. and some cab cleaning.
not even sure what worked.
stuff is wack...
I have started cleaning my register on my laptop. Just to see if that would work. Lol. Got to get some permissions worked out first though.

I put Ubuntu on my 7 using the Ubuntu desktop installer (had to do it manually, but yea...) that came out semi-recently and I want to go back to good ol' Andy so I can try out some cool USB OTG stuff I saw recently. I'm having a bit of trouble finding out how to flash Android back to it. Clockwork is gone and I tried an unbrick method and it didn't work. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!!

There might be a better way of doing this but I always use wug fresh's toolkit and use the flash stock button. All it requires is bootloader with required drivers. That will flash the stock android and stock recovery!

I shall give it a shot right meow. Thanks!
Edit: HA!! That's how I rooted my N4! I already have it and everything! Didn't recognize the name. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
After getting every damn error in the world and having to do it manually-ish, I got it. Thanks! Forgot about that program!
Hey guys!
So i just got my GS4 yesterday, and before that i had had a Note 2, rooted, with all the goodies. You know the deal. Anyway, im no stranger to rooting and all that, but, for some reason i can't get USB Debugging to work. I installed the drivers, put on USB debugging, but still it connects as a "Media Device".
Any ideas?
I have already tried uninstalling the drivers, and reinstalling, all while the phone is NOT plugged in, i dont plug in until i have everything set, and USB Debugging is ON. So please!!! HELP ME!

no i dont, this is crazy! i usually NEVER ask for help in these forums lol cause im always able to figure it out on my own, but right now im just completely stuck
after you uninstall and reinstall the usb drivers, reboot both your PC and your phone then see if your device is read correctly. which root method are you trying to use, btw? if you are using the method by @AdamOutler, he recommends running casual without the drivers or anything installed yet. literally just plug in the S4 and let casual do everything.
