need to find a way/app to always keep an application alive at the background and not to be closed by miui launcher. The aplication i want to keep alive is se liveview.
Convert it to a system app.
Either use the paid version of titanium backup (long press app --> convert to system app) or put the app from /data/app to /system/app
i did it with titanium but then liveview force close every time.As a data app works fine.
thanx for your answer mate.

Hello,
Not sure if this is possible in Android but, can you kill/exit for good an android app?
I keep using Adv Task Killer but the damn apps keep on restarting after killed...can anyone advise? Its driving me nuts! I liked that tweak in winmo where you long press x and the program is gone for good.
Thanks for enlightening me!

No one knows the solution?
Startup Auditor
I donwnloaded a program called Startup Auditor from the market. It will allow you to disable a program on startup and keep it diabled.
I also deleted the Footprints app (useless) by getting the root explorer app (costs money) that will allow you to delete the app. This is the only explorer I have found that will let you uninstall pre-installed apps.
**BE CAREFUL** removing some apps like Friendstream, mail, messages, etc could mess up your phone, because they are tied into the system.
Google it thats how I figured it out.
Search in market for developer "Gpc". They have a tool called SuperManager for free with great functions such as Root Explorer. In market you will find it with a desktopsymbol icon and japanese letters! no worrys.. whole app can be set to english :d Second entry i think if you search for Gpc. No need to pay for rootexplorer root/data/app/ think there are the apps like footprints you want to deinstall/delete
attached it

This always happens, the easiest way to do it is just to go the manage application in the settings and force the close, the app should not restart after this regardless what the task killer says. Some apps will restart too if you have background data on within the background.
Hope this helps.
I use autostarts. Its capable of stopping the app from loading during boot, and you can block recurring starts through the options. Easy to use. Click on app then disable. It will boot if you run the app, but will not autorun on startup.
You should NOT USE any app killers the are bad for the battery and the memory dont even install them. Next time you update or change your build leave the app killers out like the DEV intended or they would have added 1 for you
Stop looking at the running apps list. Problem solved. If them sitting in that list worries you then uninstall the app. Android isn't winmo, having apps sitting in that list is nothing to worry about.
Is there any way to hard code (when building a custom ROM) the OS so that certain pre-installed system apps DONT auto-start on boot-up, or constantly start while the OS is running (restart themselves and stay running)? I am trying to stop things like Google Maps from starting on its own, unless I WANT to start it. Another example is not auto-starting the GMAIL or MAIL apps, until I open them. Same deal. Possible?
Go into settings then click on the button labeled "Applications". Then click on "Running" and click on the apps you want to stop running and click "Force Stop" and they will stop running until you reopen them again. Otherwise, download ATK.

Or you can use a program called autostarts which can be found in market. Not sure if you can disable the autostart when building ROM.
Hi,
Can any1 help me with letting me know the best app to freeze the app from startup .... and it should only start when I want that app to start.
I am aware that titanium back freezes the app permanently and then we have to go into the setting and defreeze again ....
any app that can freeze the app ( system + market app ) from startup ?

What you're asking about technically isn't freezing the app, but changing it's autorun settings. When you freeze an app, you can't run it at all.
I have experienced the same frustration. I found an app called Gemini App Manager that has the ability to change an app's autorun settings. It's in the market. I haven't been using it for long enough to tell you how well it works.
What!? 9 months isn't that old... I found the thread by doing a search... Now, if someone else finds the thread, at least there's an answer
try link2sd,it's free from the market or just uninstall the app u dnt like lol

link2sd can freeze apps, but it can't do what the original poster wanted... prevent an app from starting automatically, but still allow it to run on demand.
I am creating this thread for a list of which apps you can remove from the r800x's system. This thread is meant SPECIFICALLY for r800x which is why I am not posting a reply in the existing thread located here!

semc-fumo.apk
SemcCrashMonitor.apk
After removing these apps, I HIGHLY recommend you install "Sd Maid" from the market to remove all data related to these apps!!!
After all the apps and data are removed, delete all the .dex files taht are located in /data/dalvik-cache, and then reboot your phone!
The reason for deleting these files is that they are files that are re-created by the system on boot for any apps you have installed, whether they are in the system or installed from the market. That means when you reboot after deleting these files, your phone will reboot slower then usual because it is created the dalvik cache from your existing apps. It will only do this once, so your phone will not reboot slow every time.
This is my first thread on XDA, so please click thanks if this helped you!
If you know any other apps that may be removed, or know what the unused apps do, please tell me!
Hey Sonic...big thanks for this...isn't it great that we're rooted now?

nice, thanks for the list
Great list, I cleared pretty much everything able, applied dalvik mod and im up to 342mb free storage. Thanks for this.
Dont Delete "preinstalledservice.apk"
This app is needed for Crash Bandicoot to still run and download game data. I tried a lot of different variables to find that without the preinstalledservice.apk None of the Playstation certified games would make it past "updating" screen.
I deleted vznavigator and now my phone won't boot up at all...

That shouldn't happen. It was something else, I am certain!
Are you sure you just didn't remove launcher2 without having an alternative launcher first?

I have done it twice, both times it crashed the phone to the point of having to Flashtool back to life. and i am certain it is VZ Navigator because it was the only application i removed.

I actually removed VZ Navigation before I remembered to check this thread after Zergrushing. I obviously haven't had this problem, which is strange, but I never launched the app at all. Or I'm lucky! It's been a week...

Thanks for the list, didn't have the navigator problem My problem was deleting my avatar "preinstalledservice.apk" I keep him there to remind me of the day I lost him. Anyway Deleted all but the games, flash, browser, and all that was in red. little struggle with that verizon.hss or what-not didn't let me hit the power option onscreen. I have to say phone is running a lot faster, LOTS MORE RAM to enjoy on other things. any way thanks again for replying so fast
Encase any one does delete any thing without back up (LikeME) Mills00013 has all system files for R800x http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201725

I have a D-802 on CM.
Sometimes in some other app I get a message for example 'YouTube has stopped working' then I think why would it even run in the background when I have not even opened it, I am suspicious that there must be more apps running in the background all the time which reduce the battery life.
How do I disable some apps from running in the background without even being opened?
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Your right. Im sure there are more apps that runs that you dont know. Install titanium backup and freeze it from there.
Root it and greenfy them This is better than Titanium because it freez the applications you have choosen when you close them, and unfreez then automaticly when you open them

I'll try this, but I was expecting to find an app which have simple settings to allow or disallow certain apps in the background, for example, Afwall+ which greatly controls which apps connect to the internet.

I've been using Greenify for a while now and it seems to work great. Really simple to use.
