[Q] Samsung Focus 7.5 Internet Sharing On Rogers - Focus General

I have a Samsung Focus on Rogers Network in Canada and updated to 7.5 yesterday
OS : 7.10.7720.68
HW: 3.1.0.7
I know that internet sharing is depends on carrier. So I did not see the internet sharing option under setting. Is it Rogers blocking it? Does anyone know if Rogers is going to enable it? Or I have to unlock my phone and enable it?
Thanks

IS will not normally be enabled in first generation phones (Focus included), at least for now.
You can enable it if you have (developer) unlock, check the forums for that.

That is correct.. first generation phones (1.3) will not have it in the menu even with Mango update. It's a hack ( I mean modification) if you so desire.

Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1233612
It works on my focus, official mango and SIM unlocked to T-Mobile.

ATTN: AUSTRALIANS who upraded to Froyo 2.2 via Kies using NZ/Telecome i9000T update

I have done this, moving from the JH3 firmware 2.1 Eclair to 2.2 Froyo after usign Kies registry patch and spoofing Kies into allowing me to upgrade to the recently released Froyo 2.2 update for i9000T phones (ENGLISH) that require full use on the 850MHz band.
I have done the upgrade successfully and wow - absolutely astonished that the now TELECOM branded firmware which *ALSO* utilises the same 850MHz handwith as we do here in Australia via Tesltra - I DO NOT HAVE ANY NETWORK DATA CONNECTION. The only way I can is if i connect to my home wifi.
I now beg someone, preferably an Aussie or Kiwi whi has actually DONE the flash and very clearly explain, in full - either what i have done wrong or how this can be fixed.
Thanks

Side note: 2-3 months ago Telstra AU should've already given their customer base the option to upgrade to Froyo 2.2 and the time its taken (Optus AU first, then NZ Telecom), is beyond ridiculous. I have a separate problem which has caused me to update early due to some bullsh*t link that Andriod market needs to have constantly with G_TALK:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=851043&page=5
Hey man.
I don't have a Telecom Galaxy, but have you done your APN settings etc? Telstra's APN settings should be publicly available, or give Telstra a call and ask them.
It is one thing having your firmware sorted, but if you have no or wrong APN settings, you wont connect to the net. Good luck. :>
Id be inclined to think its apn settings. Just install csc to match your provider.
APN settings not activated properly. Thanks.
Any Telstra users here have the link it takes you to when you open/click "Telstra MyAccount" ?
Thanks
Just install Australia Unbranded I9000DTJP5/I9000XSAJP4/I9000DTJP3/I9000DTJP5 it has all APN settings for the required AUS networks.
he needed 850MHz band.
Did you try this?
http://configure.telstra.com.au/telstra/index.jsp
So after the APN settings were used, was this then fixed?

Update FW: 2424.11.10.1, BL: 5.10.0.4

Just installed an update on my Omnia 7.
H3G, unlocked.
Developer unlocked since pre-nodo. Internet Sharing enabled by force.
OS 7.10.7720.68
FW: 2424.11.10.1
HW: 3.15.0.4
Radio SW: 2424.11.9.1
Radio HW: 0.0.0.800
Bootloader: 5.10.0.4
Chip SOC: 0.36.2.0
Anyone know what this update did? I can't find any changes, except that it changed theme to Lime... And as always Samsung did not provide any change log.
May I ask where you have it from? I'm having massive connection issues since I updated to FW 2424.11.9.2 (the last one delivered by MS).
I received the update the regular way. Notified on the phone that an update was available, then updated with Zune.
Where are you located? Thanks.

Same here. Wi-fi appears as connected to my network but can't receive/send data. Turning wi-fi off and on again appears to solve it temporarily.
I'm waiting for new firmware update...
I'm in Sweden. 3 branded phone, SIM unlocked and on Telenor network.
I was updated from FW 2424.11.9.2, where I experienced some connection troubles. I used to solve them with reboot... Have not seen anything about that today, but it's just been one day yet so...

I've been having connection issues since updating to Mango/0222.11.8.5 almost 2 months ago and am yet to receive an update so I wouldn't hold my breath :/
if your surfing on Wifi and pages don't load/take ages to load etc, turn off Mobile network data. When you re-enable it, you will have to restart the phone, otherwise you will have the internet issues on mobile network lol
KJW,
And what you have written down in the registry -

I'm also interested.
Yesterday I've changed mine from 000-88 (no carrier) to SFR-FR and was able to update to 2424.11.9.3, but it didn't change anything.
I'm just about to revert back to my latest backup (11.9.2).
Hi,
HKLM\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\MobileOperator="SE3-SE"
I'm sad to say that I just had the same connection trouble on WiFi. Toggle WiFi solved, just as earlier.
So, it seems that this FW does not solve the connection issue. Wish Samsung provided a changelog, so we knew what to expect.
Sent from my OMNIA7 using Board Express
bummer!
I tried to update with "SE3-SE" as carrier. Zune tells me there is an update, it downloads, the phone restarts, it tries to install but reboots after a few seconds with an "error code 8018001e". After some research here on xda it seems that my phone not having swedish installed might be the problem. Also tried adding swedish to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\MUI\Available] but it didn't do the trick.
Since you seem to still have connection problems with .11.10.1, I think I won't further bother..

Oke, this is very very weird.
I changes my HKLM\System\Platform\DeviceTargetingInfo\MobileOpe rator=
from "000-NL" to TMO-NL ( i brought a unbranded phone)
A update showed up and it installed successfully
Now i have:

FW: 2424.11.9.2
HW: 3.15.0.4
Radio SW: 2424.11.9.1
Radio HW: 0.0.0.800

and no Internet Sharing....

WP7 Tango on Focus ?

I heard that WP7 Tango is available for Omnia.
Is it available for Focus 1.3 ??
Once all the languages are officially available for Tango, the current tango build will be ported to Focus 1.3.
Ask voluptuary for updates.
Yup, like the above poster said, in-order for the Tango Rom to work for Focus 1.3 we need all the language packs that it supports just like we did for the 8107 rom. When that get's released it's only a matter of time before it gets cooked. BTW Voluptuary is on VACATION!
it is now available..check the development thread
i currently just installed and every thins seems to be running just fine
check my signature
Now i have tango rom installed, Can i add language pack from 8107 via cabsender?
can i still do a window break hack after tango update?:good:

I think you're looking for this, however 7.10.8773.98 is actually 7.8, so if you have that, just try WindowBreak.

Hello,
Sorry for my English, basically I'm French.
I advise you to flash with a custom rom.
No, installing a custom rom is not a "fix".
Try Heathcliff74's Samsung Repair 3G XAP instead http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=776605&d=1320794157
Send it to the device, run it, then restart phone.
how to run Heathcliff74's Samsung Repair 3G
Hi sab742,
I have same problem. I unlocked (network SIM) Omnia 7 (UK Orange) via FastGSM. From then, I can't connect to 3G.
I read your suggestion to run "Heathcliff74's Samsung Repair 3G". But how can I run this in my phone?
Do i need to send it by e-mail?
My phone do not have Custom ROM.. it is just SIM unlocked .. Any help / suggestion would be appreciated..
Many Thanks
changing the 3g to a wrong provider and back to the right one should help
edit: you can also try this using the network profile app of the samsung market place

Tango on E900 and still no Internet Sharing !

Hi everyone.
I want to ask this because I didn't find any clear and direct answer to this question (in the awfully long threads about this topic).
I don't own an Optimus 7 directly, I am talking about my girlfriend's phone.
Long ago I heard about the possibility of enabling Internet Sharing on LG E900 Optimus 7.
I already know that a particular driver or firmware update is required for it.
Today I managed to update the phone to Tango using Zune. Still I don't receive any LG firmware upgrade ...
These are the firmware numbers I read :
OS Version 7.10.8773.98
Firmware 1.1.2.10
Hardware 1.0.0.0
Radio 1.1.2.10
Hardware radio 0.3.5.0
Bootloader 1.5.1.0
My girlfriend wants Internet Sharing but she won't let me reset her phone. She doesn't want to lose any message or app or photo or video or information she stored so far.
So the question is :
is there ANY WAY to flash the driver, to flash the firmware, to flash what's needed into this phone to enable internet sharing without losing any data ?
I already enabled the Internet Sharing option using registry editor, but the driver is still missing. "There is a problem with the current settings" message appears when I try to enable it.
any dev could help me ? I wonder if the cab sender isn't enough to send this driver to the phone.
can somebody give me a clear answer except for "you must reset the phone" ?
Currently I am downloading the firmware 'LG-E900AT-00-V10g-222-10-SEP-29-2010+0_DZ'
Can I flash it without losing all the informations on the phone ? (the real question is : the firmware will reset the ROM too ?)
Waiting for your answer.
Have a nice day.

Good to you that you made update on 8773 on OPN firmware, but my opinion reason why you be luck to update on 8773 is because you do not have OPN firmware that bring Internet Sharing.
My Story:
Couple months ago, Zune SW pop-up with notification for new update, at the end my phone was able to act as access point.
To be able to do that on your phone, you will need 1.1.9.10, in between there two other firmware 1.1.4.10 & 1.1.6.10.
I am suspect that reason why I cannot update on 8112 and 8773 is this firmware.
Please if someone with 1.1.9.10 OPN firmware has same problem, please describe here.
Currently my firmware is LG-E900_V11i_Final-jan-27-2012-2250-7720, as I can see this firmware does not exist under stock ROM for Optimus 7. In any case bring ICS to LG Optimus 7.
Cheers.

Can you send me the cab updates for these firmware ?
And the most important question is :
what happens if I send the wrong cab to the phone ?
superbump !
hey
that is the reason of silly support for LG E900, no custom roms etc.
Because Users don't know what they have in own phones.
There is internet sharing since mango.
Serach in setting: internet acces!

You didn't really read all my topic, didn't you ??
What are you saying is wrong.
Tango didn't bring the internet sharing.
A firmware update that was not received by everyone bringed it.
The firmware update changes accordingly to the brand of the phone.
I forced the 'Internet Sharing' option to show up by using WinTT.
When I try to enable it as I already said a "There is a problem with the current settings" message appears.
The real question is still this :
I bought my Optimus 7 in France, and I discovered later that it was 'OPN' branded. I used it with Vodafone since the beginning. PHERAPS this is the reason I didn't get the firmware update.
So what happens if I try to manually flash the cab 'LG Optimus 7/E900 - OPN NEU branded 1.1.6.10 - November 7th 2011' over :
OS Version 7.10.8773.98
Firmware 1.1.2.10
Hardware 1.0.0.0
Radio 1.1.2.10
Hardware radio 0.3.5.0
Bootloader 1.5.1.0
???
Hey,
Same history for me but my Firmaware and Radio are different.
OS Version 7.10.8773.98
Firmware 1.0.4.10
Hardware 1.0.0.0
Radio 1.0.4.10
Hardware radio 0.3.5.0
Bootloader 1.5.1.0
Thanks and sorry for my english!
for what its worth, I know the german vodaphone branded rom has it, and its works great, for me its been enabled since i've had the device.
