Has anyone been able to run a Android wifi tether on the DInc in infrastructure mode? If so, what's your setup (ie. ROM, kernel, wifi tether version)?
Mine seems to be working I connected my wifes evo thru my dinc. From what I understand thats only possible in infastructure mode. My rom / kernel info is in my sig and im using wifi tether for root v3.1-beta-6. Didnt do anything special except update to the latest wifi tether app from here. http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list

Is there a way to enable the usb tethering on the Hero? I've read sprint disabled this feather awhile back. I'm rooted and use wifi tethering but my aunt just got a Hero (loves it btw), is not rooted and asked me could she tether. I don' live close to her or I'd root her phone. Is usb tethering a lost cause?
Thanks

you can do it on the 2.1 update (maybe just roms based off the update?) but you need to flash a VZW pri. to do so you need root? (citation needed)
i use the native tethering in cm 6.0 and it works awesomely. almost seems faster than my RoadRunner

Yes I know all is possible with flashing, which in this case is not an option. My aunt is not nearly technical enough for a root & flash.
Before we get into different prls. What OS version is her hero.
She is on latest 2.1 ending in .6
PDAnet and EasyTether. Just tell her to pick one, download it from the market, follow the setup instructions, and then tether away.
Is there any Sense ROM with USB Tethering?
Question about tethering with the Epic 4G above Rom. Does the "[ROM][STOCK] EB13 - Deodexed Update from DI18 | Pre-rooted" Rom make the Sprint Hotspot app work? Or is there a recommeded tethering app?
No.
Wireless Tether
or if you want infrastructure and the same speed of sprints hotspot and care to be adventuress (sp) you can try the wifi tether 3.0.0 pre10 version. Its actually the sprint app but hacked into a wifi tether app.
Nandroid back up before testing this one.
so wifi tether 3.0.0 pre10 version works with infrastructure mode on eb13??
please tell me yes!!
(i went back to the evo because of this)

It works for me, in infrastructure mode, and 3g/4g are both working. Didn't extensively test it so I'm not sure about stability but while it was working, it did everything.
I'm running the Fresh Evo 4.0 Beta 4 (4.0.0.4). I can't seem to get wifi tethering to work. The app starts and recognizes my devices. I can use access control and authorize but no dice. Any recommendations?

Go download the newest wifi tether app.

That fixed it for me.
Retreat
That was the version in the Fresh rom. I downgraded to 2.0.7 from 3.0-pre13 and wifi tethering works again. Thanks for your reply.

Just recently bought a Asus Nexus 7 and I find it an awesome device.
Unfortunately, I was surprised to see there is no option to turn my device into a wifi hotspot
or to share my nexus internet through USB to other computers.
thus I am now looking for apps that can help me achieve this
and would greatly appreciate anyone who has any recommendation for me..
p.s :- I tried wifi Hotspot and Foxfi (free version for both) but I can get neither computers no other mobile phones
to connect to the wifi hotspot they created through my nexus
Thank you.
Easy tether will let you share the internet with a computer using usb.

Easy tether.. got it..will try it out...
anyone else knows of a good one to use to wifi hotspot instead of usb?
no other apps?
Barnacle? Open garden? Pdanet? Foxfi? Easy tether?
I'm sorry..
my nexus 7 is running stock ROM..
it seems that with stock, the wifi hotspot is "blocked" or crippled or whatever..
now wonder when I used wifi hotspot of Foxfi, other devices can see my wifi but unable to access it..
I may need to root my N7, but I have never done rooting before and is a bit apprehensive in doing so..
trying to look up the easiest to understand guide as to how to root my n7 now..
additional info :- I am running android 4.2.2 and my N& build is jdq39
if anyone can point me to a guide to root my N7 with a little more ease, please do..
Thanks..
ok, i just saw this thread..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2150661
can anyone help confirm that this root ROM has the function to let me wifi hotspot with my nexus 7?
Also, if I were to successfully root.. am I able to return this to stock ROM if ever I feel the Root not to my liking?
