i've flashed yuki & xbmods back to future and updated to 7720 final by cab incl. the isv beta cleanup via zune without error (!), no further updates shown in zune now. if i install the app "mango compass" (or any other app that requires compass support) i get warning "not supported by your device, compass is missing". if i start the app, a popup is shown "the api for compass is missing, you need to have the final version of wp 7.5 installed to have compass support"
thought i am on the final mango or am i not? ...
p.s. the compass worked before in wp7 (several roms) but that's not to be the question for now

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DEL7Q88F thanks to dazza9075 for finding it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17961768&postcount=32
thank you, this compass works beautyfully, but what about the warnings regarding the missing compass hardware (for example on installing htc locations, the warning pops up) ? the hardware is still there and the api's seemed to be there in wp7 before, too (there was the htc compass app even downloadable in marketplace!) i couldn't believe that m$ should have taken out this feature in wp 7.5 ...
I have the same problem, loaded back to the future then upgraded via zune to latest without error but I have exactly the same problems?
Not sure if its related but Navigon stopped working also, was fine before updating whereas now it closed after I type in an address.
Reading other threads it seems I may have to hard reset but I would rather not if I can avoid it.
Thanks
Need a update from Mircosoft or other?
Hello,
unfortunately have the same problem.
Select TomTom and other apps missing the compass.
Do you think you have to wait for an update from Microsoft or Navigon?
The HTC Compass Version 1 seems to be working.
I have the same problem.
I've flashed yuki & xbmods Back to Future and updated to 7720 final.
Now "not supported by your device, compass is missing".
Thi sis a standard issue, right? I have this problem as well. Skymap is useless. I guess I'm surprised there isn't more talk about it and it makes me wonder if it isn't a common problem afterall? Anyone have a working compass with Mango/back to the future v2?

Download and isntall WP7 SDK, then use the Application Installer program to install .XAPs. Zune must be running and the lock screen on your phone must not be on/displayed.

So NoDo was finally released this morning.
Well, for the EU people anyway (don’t get me started).
Windows Phone 7, by default, stores your operator identifier in a sneaky registry key, which is checked by the Windows Update Client running on the phone. This identifier is then used to check if the updates have been approved for your operator. If they are slow, like Telstra here is in Australia, you’re going to be waiting a long time.
So, let’s tell you how you can “un-brand” (this won’t remove the boot splash screen) your phone so it appears to be a generic handset to the Update Servers.
Your device needs to be dev-unlocked for this to work. Sorry folks.
1. Download this zip file and deploy the 3 xap files onto your device.
2. Run the ChevronWP7.Ringtones.xap and wait till it displays “Ringtones added… and CustClear.provxml underneath”
3. Run the TouchXplorer app, navigate to My DocumentsMy Ringtones click on CustClear.provxml and select Copy from the Application Bar.
4. Navigate back inside TouchXplorer to the Windows folder.
5. Select paste from the Application Bar, this should scroll right to the bottom and put a copy of CustClear.provxml in the Windows folder.
6. Now run the Connection Setup application and click on the Ok button (it’s the one with the tick).
And now you’re done and free to re-connect to Zune and check for updates.
Again, this is ONLY for HTC devices.

Hi guys! I didn't test this method for HD2 yet cause I still on Android. Try it out.
Has this been cooked for the HD2 already? I'll give it a try as long as I know it won't brick my HD2
IT ONLY SHOWS PHONE UPDATE FEB 2011
any idea why i am not able to see nodo update
There is another thread about this already in Q&A and General. It seems as though this method is for native WP7 devices to work around zonal or carrier based restrictions.
It has been tried on an HD2 in the other thread and the same registry issues that affected the February update prevail. This does not appear to be a solution for HD2 owners.
just tried out and still having the error happening same error

i have big problem my phone is locked ... and i cant unlock it since they disconnected the unlock tool what should i do guys
okay okay i fixed the unlock thing and everything and did this but this didn't work out on hd2 .. ill try more and let ya know guys
Yea, just playing around, problem is in registry.
hello,
do you know if it works on HD2 ? if I try, will I keep everything (sms, apps, ...) ?
thanks !
This does not work, it has been said hundreds times
Has everybody been taking crack lately?
How do you expect to be able to do a official update to NoDo when our roms are modded to work on the HD2, its not a native rom so even if you could get it to update through official channel it would very likely break the installation anyway.
Use some common sense guys have some patience and wait for the update to be cooked into HD2 rom.
Hi,
I've just flashed Xbmod's nodo rom. A beautiful rom! But there's one problem, I installed the included Windows Phone Device Manager, and it seems to connect fine to my hd2. It says that it's detected, then it says that it's installing Touchxperience. After that I get an error message stating that it can't launch touchxperience. It does show up in the installed programs list, but when I launch it, it shows a black screen for 3-5 seconds, then it goes back the the list again. I searched the net about this problem, and I saw other people have it too, but I don't see any solution.
Thanks
(I also have installed al the requirements for wpdm)
Ran into the same problem this morning. Havent looked into it very much. Was trying to load my US navigon maps.
It worked perfectly fine with an older 7004 build I had on my phone.
Possibly not compatible with NODO. Definately installs the xap though. Dont the apps have to update for the NODO build. Not sure. Havent had much time recently to mess around with phones as much. So my knowledge is sort of limited on newer issues.
Hopefully it gets figured out. Just noticed that someone got the US navigon maps working and thats the one app I really missed having on WM. Not that I use it all the time but nav comes in handy when it needed.
I'm using ROM XBmod 1.11 and got same problem.
I tried to install touchXperience manually with .xap file and then launch it on my phone, still cannot start.
Someone said that maybe some hacks on the ROM cause this problem. I checked "dehydrate" hack and saw the registry key is default (DehydrateOnPause = 3).
Any other suggestion?

Take mobile off usb, power down and power back up again. now try touch Xperience.
Is it now showing? If so to marry with WPDM. put usb in, now if Zune starts, close it down. Start up WPDM. wait till it connects with the TouchX.
Is it now working? I am using Xmob 1.11 rom, and have no problems. But make sure that the ROM is cool, and not hot.

If you are using Advanced Config 1.2.1.1 (From Julian Schapps) Then slide it over to Tweeks.
There should be a tick on the Dont dehydrate apps on pause. Leave the tick on.
That should fix it.

have you done hard reset after instaling? sideloading requiers it.. (settinsgs/about/reset)
Tom's XAP will report that it has failed, but it works. You have to have Zune running and you have to be on first or app screen. Not on lock screen.
Hi
Thank you for the quick help, it was the Hardreset I had missed.
[EDIT] Tom XAP Installer actually does not fail now with the 4 XAP files I have tried [/EDIT]

It may be worth changing it to HD7 as MS are possibly snooping.

FIRST I want to thank everyone who has worked on ALL of the ROMS, CABS, TOOLS, and everything else on this Forum! Amazing work and skill.
Ok so after reading postings of here and other places over two days I had tried 10 different configurations and different ROMS. I have found what works great for me I am runing wp7 7740 with no problems and great battery and data service.
I followed the instructions for installing [ROM] Back to the Future [XBmod-Yuki] [7740](HD2_Updatable_XBmod_Yuki_v2_native)
Flash the rom without SDcard
Or if you have already flashed remove it and do a factory reset
- After system loaded, update in ZUNE to 7392 without SD card
- After booting succesfully 7392 go in settings/about and reset the phone
- When phone reboot insert your SDcard
- You will load system and the SDcard should works well now
- Install the DeviceProvisioning cab using WP7-Update-Cab-Sender instructions
- Continue to update to 7720 IN ZUNE but this time with SDcard
- Install the 7720-7740-6mn.cab using WP7-Update-Cab-Sender instructions
My phone has never worked better. I mean WOW I am so impressed. I had tried 10 different configurations to get a working SD card and an updateable system with zune. The reason I used the cab installer for 7740 was because Zune just kept saying my phone was up to date even after reinstalling the DeviceProvisioning cab. I ran into an error in zune 800B010A while trying the ISV Beta Cleanup update. But what worked for me was simply activating the live services on the phone. I got a activation code from MS a while back and have been able to use that. One done BAM it went right to the next step instead of poping up that error.
I did try using the Kingston 16gb micro sdhc glass 4 and It just froze everytime and became locked even when i tried the DEV_STORAGELOCK cab the card would freeze up after i installed it. All of my other cards would work fine and could be unlocked. What is interesting is The Kingston is brand new and the others are over a year old have been used several times and are a class 2.
I was able to use zune for apps, games and music. I have used my wireless data service with out having to put in any setting it just turned on and worked.
As for the Battery, I left my phone unplugged all night with all the services turned and and Guess what there was still power when I woke up. Usually with every other rom and solution it is dead. and a Pain to get back up and running.
There was only one thing that is not working and that is the compass and I actually never use it so not a problem. I was able to zoom in with touch very nicely! WIFI is fast and 3g is fast. I use t-mobile.
I could always leave detailed step by step instructions of what I did to get everything working if anyone wants me to.
Thanks to all,
Philip
I share almost the same experiences, here is my way: updated with ZUNE to 7392 (but with sd card) and then install the DeviceProvisioning cab. Update with ZUNE to 7403. Hard reset. Then using WP7-Update-Cab-Sender update to 7720, hard reset again and same way to 7740
I have to agree. Xbmod/Yuki BTF ROM is awesome. I can't begin to express my admiration for the woirk these guys have done.
Have you guys installed the SP1 update cab? Solves HTC driver issues and adds some new tweaks. This rom just gets more awesome by the day!

Like title says: WP7.8 is out, has anyone gotten an update, without installing via cabsender?
The important question is if there are any oem updates out, and if there are if anyone can capture their urls.
Edit: my install history: shipped with 7720 -> manually updated to 8773 -> manually updated to 8858, it installs and seems to be working fine with 7720 drivers.
Need to test more thoroughly though, but it installed and boots.

Tried updating using the force update method, Zune came back with "Update ready for 7.10.8779.8", which I tried to update to, but then during the backup the update failed. I'm pretty sure the 7.10.8779.8 is a Nokia only update, but I am not sure.
Will try updating again over the next few days, see what happens.

8779 is a generic update, and it always has been.
It was simply not released widely and noone bothered to leak the update urls.
You have to upgrade though 8779 to get to 8858, everyone that recieved updates to 8858 did so

Hi Manii, in Windows Phone 7.8, you're able to save a contact with
Mobile
Home
Home 2
Work
Work 2
Company
Pager
Home fax
Work fax
However, on Windows 8 you have one more field: Mobile 2. The shortcoming from Windows 7.8 is, once one of my friend has more than 1 number, I will have to store the second one as "Home", not "Mobile 2" and this number can not be texted directly (SMS).
We can workaround it, however stock support is better for sure!

You're right about that: I can confirm that mobile 2 is strangely missing, WP7 itself simply does not support it.
You can add "mobile 2" via the win8 people app or the the people section of live.com and it simply does not appear.
MS/Live accounts simply are not able to handle custom labels on fields period, if you're like me and use gApps as your primary account source and have custom labels: they simply do not appear at all via live connected apps (wp7/win8/live.com).
You would need either to be less descriptive or have multiple entries to replicate the same thing via live accounts.
You cant even manually create a "mobile 2" label and expect it to show up under wp7.
You would need to completely bypass live accounts to add custom fields, it's an inherent limitation of live.
That or live with the fact you would simply have no way of syncing at least that to live.

If you're already on Tango (8773), just download these CABs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37384687&postcount=1478, repeating procedure separately for each update pack. Actually, I always used English (US) language, so downloaded only corresponding packages:
For first update downloaded:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/software/dflt/2012/05/diff-7.10.8773.98-7.10.8779.8-armv7-retail-microsoft.pks_b9598a098a3a4e902d043cef778a79ff3e6b0869.cab
http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/software/dflt/2012/05/diff-7.10.8773.98-7.10.8779.8-armv7-retail-microsoft.lang_0409.pks_4d87f62a11c7898a516df7563a9333e1082fad57.cab
And installed using CAB Sender (for instructions on using it, look at this post).
Then, did the same for two other update packs.
Second one:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/software/dflt/2012/10/diff-iucorefixed-7.10.8779.8-7.10.8783.12-armv7-retail-microsoft.pks_8a50b92b21951c7baf9f3600cea8c77e0918021f.cab
Third one:
http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/software/dflt/2012/11/diff-7.10.8783.12-7.10.8858.136-armv7-retail-microsoft.pks_d6fb2a271eed6a5d1187b17aba60806753d0ffce.cab
http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/software/dflt/2012/11/diff-7.10.8783.12-7.10.8858.136-armv7-retail-microsoft.dpi_262.pks_39b9cc884c90d83c0df50ed5623166e9257d1162.cab

Of course, if you use other language than English (US), you will need other lang packs from each update as well (notice *lang_0409* in package names here).
After installing 3rd update pack, you will be successfully running Windows Phone 7.8.
Good luck!

And installed using CAB Sender (for instructions on using it, look at this post).
Then, did the same for two other update packs.
Second one:

Of course, if you use other language than English (US), you will need other lang packs from each update as well (notice *lang_0409* in package names here).
After installing 3rd update pack, you will be successfully running Windows Phone 7.8.
Good luck!

Will this work for DVP TMO-US. I am currently at 7.10.7720.68? Thanks

You would need either to be less descriptive or have multiple entries to replicate the same thing via live accounts.
You cant even manually create a "mobile 2" label and expect it to show up under wp7.
You would need to completely bypass live accounts to add custom fields, it's an inherent limitation of live.
That or live with the fact you would simply have no way of syncing at least that to live.

ya it works, I got my Tmobile DVP up using the cab sender method to 7.8.
Someone wanna comment on the firmware for the bootloader/radio etc?
Here are my Specs:
OS: 7.10.8858.136
Firmware: 2250.1800.7720.219
Hardware: 112.576.2.0
Radio: 2.2.50.18
Bootloader: 7.27.1.0
To be honest I feel that 7.8 made the device slower for me. 7.5 Mango was much faster. Just my experience.
