Hey just saying but won't it be better to not included 3rd party apps like netflix and firefox and let the user download those apps if they want to. Don't be a carrier. Don't push apps on to users.

Aye, may want to check with each app's developer as well, if only for legal safety. Google Apps, for example, aren't included with CM7 due to licensing issues. Come to think of it, definitely remove any 3rd party app not licensed for redistribution ASAP just to cover yourself until you can get permission from their respective owners.

I agree with bubba, won't disabling deep sleep hurt battery life? Unless there's a specific reason for disabling it then I don't see why you should.

Anyone else seeing this?
Love the ROM!
1. Unable to launch Firefox from the 59 build. FC
: Tried fixing permissions - failed
: Tried installing over the top - failed
2. I bought RIO from Amazon and now I am unable to update, as it requires me to uninstall first, which I am unable to do.
3. Is more of a question. Is there a compatible kernel with BLN support? I tried JTs from vanilla GB and I got caught in a boot loop

if this rom is having missed call issues, and you're using either jt's kernel or glitch kernel, then you're doing something very very wrong.

I just noticed, blandroid rom on the rom manager menu, has anyone tried it on N1? I'm using cm7 Rc4 and I know you'll all say stick with it, but I'm still curious.

I noticed it a couple of weeks ago. It says it's a stable 2.3.3 with no bloatware. Sounds very intriguing...in fact so much so that I downloaded it, but have yet to flash it...lol.
Certainly tempting isn't it, is this a case of who goes first lmao, out of interest how big is it? I notice the cm7s are just over 80 mb.

Seems like a plain stock ROM, nice to see to be honest.
Noticed the same thing, but was wondering what all it supports, site doesn't say much. I.E. what kernel it has/supports, TB alert stuff like that.
Hopefully the dev comes and explains what all he's done.
Well, I flashed it, for like an hour then when back to cm7 using the recovery I made.
First thing, market didn't work.
Secondly it didn't have the extra apps cm7 has, which I expected, but I instantly missed theme chooser.
Thirdly it wiped my contacts list.

First. The market issue is probably a wipe issue as I had the same problem with two different MIUI GB ROMs.
Secondly. That would be the lack of bloatware mentioned above. It's like stock android, so not sure why you even flashed it if you wanted bloatware.
Thirdly. It didn't wipe your contact list you didn't sync with google, becaue all of your contacts are backed up there.
You know what, I knew that'd be the replies I got, to be honest I'm curious of any rom that 1might increase battery life, currently using 85% over 10hours!! And of course the dreaded wonk which is seemingly inherent with cm7.
I couldn't force Google to sync with my phone, all my contacts are stored with Google you're right there.
Btw how would I get the market back?

I think it is another keyboard app. When you go to change the keyboard, it lists something in all Asian symbols.
I just deleted it and I have not noticed any difference with how blandroid runs.
The wonk was almost fixed on latest release of cm7. If you don't have the latest version, try it.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
Nearly fixed isn't fixed. The problem is really dragging out and these stock ROMs are showing that its fixed with them. Wonking isn't the only issue at the moment either. There is still problems with the sound levels after docking the phone sometimes where its maximum level is halved etc.
CM is an ace project and I truly respect the guys and their efforts behind it, but CM7 is very buggy, and when it starts to affect the ability to take calls its hard to use it.
Oh! Thx for the reply. I got scared and ran back to cm7

Went for this until the CM stable kills the wonk; now I may not go back. I haven't used it for long enough to know about stability. I think of it as pure AOSP, but already rooted (and a just a few essential CM goodies).

So far, I haven't found anything missing I need.
And if you want a bit more eye candy and customization, just install launcher pro or adw.launcher from the market.
I give it thumbs-up!
I've tried many different roms such as jvo, jvh, jvp and jvq. I've tried darkys, juwes, gingerreal , f1, insanity and miui but they all have these problems after the phone has been 'up' for over a day. When I exit a game using home or back my launcher restarts.

I havent tried the stuff in this thread but it is interesting, and on the second page, there is a posted .apk that apparently solves it..
Like saphirrot said, if the launcher has a 'stay in mem' option, check it. I've done that with Launcher Pro and the launcher restart happens far far less.
It's just android freeing up ram for the game. It's a pain in the ass but better than not being able to run a game because of low memory.

I use super manager or astro manager. They have app managers and allow you to install .apk files. Super manager is great if you have root access as you can uninstall bloatware apps like aldiko, layar etc. Make sure to backup app just in case anything goes wrong.

Thanks guys I installed the apk and my launcher no longer restarts but apps still close even when I go off them using the home button so I can return to them in a minute and be where I left it. Nothing is wrong. It's running out of memory. Android shall release background tasks if foreground tasks need the memory. Since Gingerbread, you can no longer force most things to stay in memory so those features are mostly useless these days. Should have kept to one ROM and asked your question in its thread. Too many things to suggest to tune it properly really. Uninstalling system apps you don't use and trying different kernels are your last options.

This is completely unacceptable then, you can't even multitask. And after the phone has been 'up' for over 12 hours you can't even keep the dialer in memory! There must be a way around this. A smartphone should not take over 3 seconds to open the dialer.

I have never seen this problem before, and since it so several I have to assume that if other people had it, they would have posted about it.
That means that it is either due to a problem with your hardware, or due to something you are installing/configuring. I would do a full factory default then add apps back very slowly, one by one, doing some basic testing in between. That way you may be able to isolate the problem.
If it still happens right after the factory reset, take the phone to a service center.

I have seen people talk about it but the answers are since gingerbread apps get closed because of memory meaning that the dialer doesn't even stay in memory after the phone has been booted.for a while.

EC07 is from TeamBlackHat, if you feel like getting it immediately and having a stock phone, then go for it and spend the $2 for the app to download it. Otherwise, wait another day or two and we'll have deodexed, pre-rooted, and debloated versions for you to flash.
Based on the upgrade to 2.2.2, I'm thinking that this is roughly equivalent to ED05 for the Fascinate.

Thanks for the fix. What about the percentage for the battery? Is it not on this one? Or is there a setting that needs to be messed with?
Thanks again
OK, so I've been running this ROM since the day it came out and I completely love it. The theme is fantastic, the battery life is amazing, and it's pretty darn smooth. Even though it's tough to find fault with the build, I will offer up the few issues/requests I've experienced over the last week or so (prioritized).
1. I can't install different kernels. I've tried Ziggy and Imoseyon(sp?)'s latest, and each hangs after the HTC screen.
2. I get FC's on D7 Reader and Dolphin Browser. They're few and far between, so it's only a minor inconvinence. Plus, I have no way to confirm it's ROM related.
3. There's a slight overlap in the header of the Mail.apk (where it says All Messages). Obviously very minor.
4. I'd like to see a flashable zip to disable the volume rocker wake; I know most like it but I use Widgetlocker so it just wreaks havok in my pocket.
5. Would like battery percentage and removal of GPS icon.
6. Can we add some ability to modify the quick settings? I personally don't use Power Efficiency and would like Brightness Level and Flashlight integrated.
7. 7 in 1 and 4 in 1 Power and Reboot menus.
8. Every now and then Exchange has issues syncing. It repeats syncing over and over until I reboot. It's only happened a couple times, and may HTC's issue, not the ROM's.
Like I said, I love this ROM and can't see a reason to leave it (unless someone gets data working on ICS). The above list is just some personal desires. Notice that I haven't said anything is broken or sluggish or ugly. Again, this ROM is great and I'd recommend it to anyone. Thanks for all the great work fkfmfz, I'll be donating shortly...

Nothing listed should result in the improvement I'm seeing, but I formated my SD card at the same time, but A5 is rocking for me right now.

I don't see much of a performance improvement (I don't think there should be one, either), though if you do wipes anyway you're going to avoid a lot of slowdowns.
Shame about the new boot animation, though. I kinda dug the colorfulness of the last one. This is a little too bluish, wooshy, scifi looking, like a wonky portal effect from 10 years ago. Reminds me of the unfortunate tastes that gave the mod community a few too many Matrix themes.

Thank you!
This is by far the best rom for the phone I've used. Thank you for the dedication Cyanogen mod team!

You can change the boot animation back to the old one if you want to. The new alpha-5 boot animation caused me to have a seizure so I found the bootanimation.zip file and replaced the new one with the old one lol
Just get the bootanimation.zip file from one of the previous versions of CM9 (/system/media) and replace.

Yes, it's always been smooth but this install seems even smoother. I know each phone can be finicky with roms, but my phone seems wet for alpha 5 lol.

Is the audio bug still present? The one that requires the screen selection sounds to be turned off in order to minimize the AudioOut_1 wakelock? Haven't seen it mentioned since the early alpha builds.

It's crazy what these guys have done.. I don't know if I could even replace my Epic 4G with anything that's out right now.. We have the only qwerty device on Android 4 on the planet.. ICS, Wimax, and an Overclocked hummingbird makes this phone arguably better than the Droid 4..
I don't know if it's just happening to me, but my phone's time is all over the place. The lock screen stays perfect, but the status bar one stays stuck & I have a widget that lags even longer!

Alpha 1 felt slow and chunky to me, with the exception being the browser. May give a5 a shot since the ram settings got tweaked in a4.
If the app switcher still takes >2sec to open it will be a no go.
