Redemption Rom Objective:
The end goal that I've always striven for with Redemption Rom is to provide a highly optimized custom Rom experience with no one feature taking away from another. Slight UI tweaks that improve overall aesthetic appearance and at it's core a stable customized kernel that provides users with a low latency, battery efficient user experience. Experimental features will not be implemented with Redemption Rom. Stability is of utmost importance and always considered to be one of my top priorities.

Features:
This is basically JVR based Apex 9.0 minus home haptic minus deodexing minus lockscreen options minus overscroll glow.
If you want all these features Apex 9.0 is your stop.
This is not an Apex release. 9.0 is the official version out
Reason for keeping it ODEXED:
In layman terms deodexing on JVQ+ roms seem to break browser.
In theory deodexing might be breaking some other functions too but browser is most noticable.
Once this process is fixed we will start getting wonderful ROMs with fully working browser and what not.
Since this is odexed rom MODs are much harder to implement. However it seems to be noticably smoother.
Whats ODEXED? Framework & Browser

I have not found any benefits yet but I also have not found any major problems. I am using the Darky R kernel and it is smooth.
I had to reboot for the phone to allow TiBu to root but that is it. Install all apps with no problems.
Not sure how much messing I will do with it since it looks like not much will be done on this ROM for a while... and I do not use the alarm clock

TheROM V4

YOU DO NOT NEED TO OVERCLOCK THIS ROM! It runs very speedy at 1.0GHz, and you save a lot of battery life. Don't believe me? Try it out.
There was a slight glitch in this build and the Android Market was not included. Installing the latest GAPPS fixes this.
Themers! If you would like to create a theme for this ROM or a themed rom using this base, either PM me or drop me a line at
paul @cpcookieman. com (take out the spaces first)
Disclaimer: This ROM comes with no warranty. I am not responsible for any thing that happens to your phone or you when using this rom. Standard stuff for any rom. If you understand this, read on.
What this ROM is: A super slim, super fast Gingerbread AOSP ROM that is geared towards the best performance you can get, while not sacrificing battery life.
What this ROM is NOT: A Sense ROM or a themed ROM. You get very close to a vanilla experience without any themes or Sense to slow it down.
What about bugs? This ROM has been in private testing for about a month now and is virtually bug free. The LTE, Wifi, GPS, Camera, BT, etc. all work perfectly. The only real "bug" is that at the bottom of the Settings application it says About OMGB. I had to borrow the Settings.apk from OMGB. The correct settings application will be included in V5 if all goes well.
How to install this ROM:
Flash the 2.11 leak CDMA radio and LTE combo from here.
Wipe Data and Cache
Install the ROM from Recovery
Install the latest GAPPS from here.
Go through the setup wizard
Allow your phone 30 minutes to an hour to sync and create all caches for maximum performance.
ENJOY
Changelog:
V4: First public release
V3: Private Beta
V2: Private Alpha
V1: Private Alpha
Special thanks to:

The rest of the OMGB team
Imoseyon for the kernel
Drew66 for testing

sparta31 for testing
DroidVicious for testing

No gapps are needed. The Android Market is included with the rom, and you can download any other gapps you may want on there. This way you can be more selective about it.

That's really weird, I thought for sure I included it... I suppose if you have any problems, the latest GAPPS should work just fine. As long as they are intended for 2.3.4 and not 2.3.5.

Well... I'm currently using Swiftdroid v2.0 RC4. The first link isn't from CyanogenMod sources and clean Android (thus from Google sources). I'd prefer Swiftdroid due to the fact that it has UI additions and settings not available to 'just' Android. BUT the clean Android has screen calibration.
I haven't the first ROM but I'd prefer what Swiftdroid has given me.
Like above aosp is lighter but I always go back swiftdroid for the themes
I hate how utopia or other roms and softmods are never in these lists its always aosp vs swiftdroid

i meant in a more general sense people ask about 2.3.5 swiftdroid and aosp they dont account for softmods or upcoming ports or kernels etc
And they dont think of any of the 2.2 roms even though some of them are amazing for some peoples needs bat life basic but snappy etc

I tried some 2.2 roms, and my opinion is that all are worst that the gingerbread roms. Do you think your battery life is longer than gingerbread roms?
I have 2.3.5 rc4....it's beautiful and fast. Battery life for me is not a problem. Cyanogenmod is a good invention, really. Never i'll turn back to 2.2 or another Rom . But....every Rom is good and a special thanks for all developers.
CM7
I've tried tons of roms, and still I always return to CM7.
I have found that only Elegance Swift 5.0 can cope with CM7, but Elegance is 2.2. and I hate having app2sd because I can't do it through rom.

Did you try [AOSP][v4.1] BFS/SIO/smartass/minmax Kernel mod?
i came to forum to ask same question
i ve visited the forum to ask same question. Which rom is best? But question is already asked.
i am using swiftdroid. Battery life is not good.
i dont know other rom, i havent tried. i am using wifi tether frequently so i havent installed this rom.
Actually i am waiting .35 kernel. Anyway i thank you all developers.
Yeah Rc6 was good but im hoping the next one i can class as a true competitor for 2.3.5
We will see how time goes lol
I just think all roms should be considered and given there merits for what they do best
Right now
2.2 butter smooth with simple functionality
2.3.5 speed and custom settings with alot more options
Future
.32 Performance improve
.35 Possible usb hosting and over bits
All devs aim to do different things and do that particular task better

Hello everyone. In this thread I will write down reviews for some of the best ROMs for Xperia X8.ATM I tested just 3 ROMs and I will review each of them , but I will test more and review them right here for you
To find a ROM in my review list press CTRL + F in the same time and write the ROMs name
FDE +4 - Final Verison
In this morning I was looking for a custom ROM for my new Xperia X8 when I found this.I was amazed by it's Xperia look.I also read some comments from guys who already tested it and I wanted it tok.I installed it trough CWM and I excepted poor performance because all of us know that stock kernel isn't that good (yes , I use stock kernel because I have my phone sim-locked and I don't want to break it's radio). I instantly loved the bootanimation which is simple but cool and after the boot , I was truly amazed. This ROM is very smooth and clean.I haven't got any lag until now and battery seems to be OK.Also I have installed some games to test it's performance.I tested both , 2D and 3D games to see how it's working and it worked like a charm. The performance in 2D is amazing and in 3D some games still need Chainfire3D to work properly.I overclocked it at 690mhz and it's very good.I also like the idea of including theme chooser.I downloaded Xperia Arc theme from Google Play (which is also included) and applied it.It's working perfect. The clock is by default on the center of status bar and it's nicely covered by date when you pull the bar down. This is my first review and hope you liked it.Below you can see some stats to have the same performance or maybe better with a new kernel.
Phone specs:
Stock Kernel
Baseband 015
CPU 691mhz - 122mhz
Grades:
Performance : 9
Design : 7 because the ugly icons
Battery life : 8 which is pretty good
Installation : 10 very easy

Nice. I also review ROMs. If you would like to team up, we can create better reviews for the public. Just an idea. Also, I think if you used standard English and not slang your review might be more professional. And maybe some structure? But great overall.
No offense, but I think you shouldn't be judging which are the best ROMs for our device. Each user has it's own best ROM based on their experience.
In my opinion, you should review the current most popular ROMs for the X8.
Oh my the OP is just trying to make a review based in his/her opinion and you guys bombarded him with this and that JUST BECAUSE OF HIS TITLE? Sad to say but this is what Ive noticed. When new people comes and and post ideas and reviews or do something useful although it already exist, you always bombard them with negative feedback's like that thread exist that is not useful blah blah blah. Whats wrong with you guys? You say for a fact that everyone has its own best rom, then the OP has his own so his review never existed.
I think what we need to do here is guide noobs rather than posting degrading and disappointing words. If you dont feel like helping then dont but please refrain from posting such things. I wonder if people do the same actions to you. sighs..
Please stay on topic guys! Further trolling won't be tolerated!
@OP: I suggest you to change the title/body of your thread a bit to give it a more personal touch.
Maybe this will keep the trolls away
Thread cleaned.

Well I remember using it and it was stable and smooth, also I don't remember any bugs or such

In 2 yerars of 'rominstalling' on X8 I think GingerDX v031b and the latest Alfs (08a) Kernel is the best of all. The phone is quick, can work very stable on 748MHz.
Get 'em while they're hot!

I recommend the stock kernel, but so far I've also tried out the Fusion kernel and I must say, it boosts the battery life significantly.
Recommended settings:
OC to 1.2Ghz.
Boost Min CPU value to 200mhz

Bugs found so far:
For anybody wondering about any bugs found in the Cyanogenmod builds so far, I can say with relative certainty that there're virtually no bugs, aside from the fact that the built in HDMI feature doesn't work. But that's a given seeing as to how most ROMS have the same problem.

Silencer

yes, everything what u said is true, but i would say that users that wont a faster device should raise min frequency not max because device is much more responsive if min freq. is set to about 200-300 mhz, so no need for OC.

what do you mean by "touchscreen issue" and which version of rom you installed?
On the website are only downloads for LT15i Devices not for LT18i can I install it though?
Those nightlies are same as FXP's.

So basically, it is FXP's nightlies that are getting uploaded there.
And this should go in the General section, right? Since this is not any form of development.

none of this makes sense! if cyanogen and fxp are the same person then why use two different sites? (cyanogen site and fxp site)
Thread moved to general. Placeholders can't be posted in the development sections.
Greate! Fast, smooth, more ram free,..
Wifi,camera,bt,.. good with Fusion kernel 4.1
